As anyone using Twitter knows, hashtags are incredibly important for a variety of reasons.
They are an expedient method to find information in one location – particularly when a common tag is used by the majority for a particular topic such as #onpoli, #cdnpoli.
Appropriate hashtags also enable you to get your message out to your target audience. Twitter is all about maximum bang for your 140 character buck.
So with this mind I asked a few folks on Twitter for some hashtag suggestions that might encapsulate Dalton McGuinty’s mismanagement – especially concerning the gas plant seat-saver scandal which has still not been resolved since he prorogued the Legislature.
I received some terrific feedback which I’ve attempted to categorize for anyone who might like to try some of these in their #onpoli tweets.
Gas Plant Scandal:
#gasgate and #GasScam – @MikeSeager
#seatsaver – @PeggyatHome
#GASnDASH – @RayCecile This incorporates the gas plant scandal and prorogation, as does #gasvapour suggested by @PeggyatHome, and either #olgphew or #olgpu suggested by @AprilFuel (Lori).
Green Energy Waste and Mismanagement:
#Negawatts – I actually noticed Tom Adams using that word. I really think it would make a terrific hashtag for green energy waste – especially when we have to pay other jurisdictions to take our power. However it does seem to have other connotations like demand reduction so possibly it wouldn’t be appropriate. Any experts out there? It’s a bit too arcane for me.
General McGuinty Government Incompetence:
#legacyofshame – @MikeSeager
#decadeofdecline – @MikeSeager
Well I probably missed a few so please feel free to chime in here with more suggestions and/or comments.

Haven’t caught the Twitter bug yet but how about #daddydaltonderailsOnt. or #LibscandalsRUs
And for the provincial Liberal Leadership #wehelpedsinkOnt.
All those have potential.
Yeah, “#wehelpedsinkOnt” is fitting, they were all there up to their eyeballs, either Dalty was secretive or they had blinders on.
How about #Dalton’s Dregs ?
#Dalton’s Dregs is good but hashtags can’t have apostrophes or spaces.
And Dregs is awfully close to ‘drags’, which under the circumstances might be a bit, um, awkward considering that Glen Murray just announced his intention to run… (Not that there’s anything wrong with it.)
Obviously I’m not into Twittering!!!
lol! No problem.
O/T but BIG coverage of USA election by media
from cj link to Mark Steyn

Thanks fh, that is a great article. I love Mark Steyn.
Great article by Stein. He highlighted the bomber jacket and that was so appropriate, it leads the reader think about an actor playing a role wearing the appropriate “costume”.
Same story here with different headline. Steyn is the best.
Oh fiddle, it’s Steyn not “Stein”, I know that, I’m a long time fan of Mark Steyn!
So, according to a National Post poll, if Canadians were voting Obama would have a landslide win! Have we been taken over by some freaking green aliens or blobs without the capacity to reason?
if some foreign country put a plant in to destroy the USA , could they do better than Obama ?
