What happened to Terry Milewski?
I was waiting for the venomous attacks in his reports of PM Harper’s China visit, but nothing. Just good solid reporting. (See videos on left sidebar of this link.)
Maybe the pandas got to him.
Or possibly he’s just saving it up for the next election.

Update
Canada is Front Page News in China – David Akin (H/T Sammy)
Yeah who cares about CBCTerry when we have Sun News Network?
More from David Akin here.
And Norman Spector points out another front page photo from China (via Twitter).

Could Elizabeth May and all members of the NDPQ look at what is happening in the world of science and especially Germany?

sorry to be off topic

Whatever it is he should pass it on to Pat Martin
Hoo boy. That guy is some piece of work.
Hey! I didn’t know Pat Martin apologized. Good for him.
An apology from Martin is worthless IMO. I suspect he did it for his own selfish reasons because of the backlash. He’s an insensitive, foul mouthed lout and not fit to sit in the HOC as an “honourable” member.
I don’t believe there are any significant changes from this reporter. Last night I noticed that he started out his report by “Harper ….” This I confirmed at the videos posted. In other words no “Prime Minister Stephen Harper…. . He and a number of others can’t bring themselves to respect the office of Prime Minister, by adressing the holder of the office formally. In the second sentence he mentions the usual “Harper government” mouthful. No respect whatever.
Well good point. I guess I’ve become immune to that. I must pay attention to how they refer to POTUS and some of the premiers.
hi jo my comment must be stuck in filter
fh
Released.
not only have the MSM no respect for Prime Minister Harper they refer to Bob Rae as the Liberal Leader not the interim leader of the Liberal Party
This could work out to our advantage

CTV ‘s Roger Smith reporting from China and surprise, surprise he is not overly impressed with the deal that was signed after 18 years of negotiations. Then he went on to call the tourist promotion bizarre. The Conservative government just does not measure up to CTV’s Liberal standards.
I saw that too. In some ways Roger Smith is worse than CBCTerry.
Great minds think alike! Just now watching the replay of Powerplay..and watching the cbc plant Roger Smith on ctv..I,as a dirty, stupid, country and western lovin’ HICK..am extremely offended by Roger’s questionable ‘reporting’ To me,it was a direct slam to the West. Hey Rog..wake up! We in the West are the ones carrying your sorry ass in Ottawa.Get out of your bubble, read the census, and smell the horse-manure! We OWN you now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Naw, can’t give Terry Toons any credit, he’s lost all his capital as far as I’m concerned. I’ve written off Jolly Roger long ago, he can’t be considered a fair and unbiased reporter.
I just saw tonight’s report from China by Milewski, one reference to Prime Minister
then it is about 3 “Harpers….s ” to complete his report. No change there.
Well o.k.
Fire. Them. All.
lol, Mildew wasn’t on the attack, so that is an improvement.
Flannigan called the P&P panel the 3 monkeys, haha, they were not amused.
ms kady, Chapstick and Silver
PBO warned of a structural deficit due to demographics last year, and today says heh no problem funding the OAS.
It was so awesome seeing Tom Flanagan back on that panel! At least there was a tiny semblance of balance.
The tv media don’t seem to mention the rest of what Contrary Kevin said . In the Globes story he said the countrys finances are in such good shape ,we should be doing more tax cuts , more spending and nothing to worry about for the next 40 years .He wasn’t saying this last year . It’ll probly only last til he can find something else the gov’t says that he can argue with , but I don’t think I’m taking Paiges word for anything regardless . He’s wrong more than he’s right and I ain’t into cat food . There were too many ifs and buts and a couple of omissions in there for me He , just like the commie media, keep sliding over the part about 2 tax payers to 1 pensioner that’s suposedly coming in the next 20 years . If that lasts from 10 to 15 or 20 years , thats a lot of borrowing ,and one hell of a tax burden on the next generation … http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/theres-no-old-age-security-crisis-pbo-report-shows/article2330998/
O/T,but waiting to see how much attention the msm will pay to the pro-life Libs coming out of the closet?? See Natnewswatch.
MUST READ,David Aikens blog post from China! Link is up at Natnewswatch, complete with the ‘above-the-fold ‘ pic of OUR PM in China..great media coverage for him (over there) while our own putrid so-called journos here, can only mock him.
Awesome! I found the link Sammy. This is great stuff.
Did “anyone” see the “At Issue” panel tonight? Poor old Peter – even looked “MAD” – saying it was up to the CBC to go through the old archives to find something negative the PM said 7 years ago on Pensions…. and was this “Harpers” first “big mistake”…. hardly mentioned China – was nothing there to bash him on….. he is some piece of work… and the quicker he is sent packing with his bags of money he is making – the better…. I honestly hardly ever turn CBC on – but I wanted to see just how he was going to be bash our PM tonight…. Sad, sad piece of reporting!
Mary, the same as you, I decided to watch ‘The National’ to see what they would say about our Prime Minister in China. The coverage was barely there. It was, I think, about the 4th item in, and very brief considering the impact of this visit. They can’t stand to have him look good.
‘At Issue’ was 95% OAS, calling it ‘Harper’s Big Blunder’, with many snide remarks made by Peter.
People who only get CBC will have a very twisted view of the current government.
Peties big deep dive sorta fizzled .
It is a good thing that I listen to David R on this very OA/pension subject rather than from taxpayers millionaire Peter M.
Millionaire Peter M. is angry that the PM is abvoiding Obama the Messiah
Gee the whole “pension tension” thingy sure seems to have gotten quiet maybe Peter will find something in the archives……..
Anyway looks like HM PM Harper has had a very successful China trip, more trade, more investments, makes me proud.
Interesting post here about Liberal Angst and I might add Media sulking little men like Mildewski who must just hate his job as much as he hates Conservatives.
http://phantomobserver.com/blog/?p=12497
Some good points here I would disagree that they have had just two failed Leaders.
Some like Chretain who got a total pass from the Media Party was a lousy leader, his behavior was shameful.
The demonstrator he throttled or the ones he had sprayed with pepper or the bank Manager who refused to be bullied by Psuedo-Chretain, come to mind.
With wanna-be-leader Bob rushing up to every microphone in sight to generalize about specifics, no remedy, no ideas, just whinging.
I do hope they make him Liberal Leader and that Terrry Mildewski is permanently assigned to him.
Maybe Terry was afraid he’d be detained if he said anything negative about the Chinese government?
I didn’t catch Soloman today, but I’m guessing he did not dedicate half of his show to “Liberals for life” trying to re-open the abortion debate?
Two years ago Kevin Page was running around like Chicken Little preaching about our “demographic time bomb”, but suddenly everything is sunshine and lollipops. Nice…
People who aren’t playing politics and have the capacity to reason realize the PM is being responsible and honest about OAS. The media carp on about him slashing or cutting the OAS which isn’t the truth but it fits into their agenda. They need to be called on this every time they utter it but we can’t expect that from the MSM, they’re part of the opposition.
As for “At Issue” they’re a joke.
That particular segment of At Issue was especially disgusting.
Speaking of firing, fire that knob of a “Budgetary Officer” Kevin Page, we don’t need such a person,he’s toxic to this government and us all meting out his opinions which are no better than our Finance Minister’s or our economist PM. He’s saying there’s no reason to change the OAS so he’s with the media and the entire opposition.
His term is up next year and I predict he will not be re-appointed. Keeping him on to make more stupid predictions is cheaper than getting rid of him.
OT somewhat but notice how Boob Rae never critiques the gov’t on the deficit, never asks a single question pertaining to it during QP? Nor does he volunteer it as a topic during media scrums?
Moreover, notice the Consensus Media never asks him Why he never makes the deficit his main focus — EVER — and whether he fears that as a result of his avoidance he…
a) feels he risks telegraphing to Canadians that he is vulnerable to attack on the issue; and
b) fears an added ricochet-type effect occurring that results from showing Canadians that deficits — specifically having a plan to tackle it — is, for him, not a top priority?
Can he really afford the bad optics that generates? He and the CM seem to think so, which is why both have worked hand-in-glove on the issue, leaving it for Lib MPs to pursue while Rae avoids it at all costs, instead focusing his attention on culture war issues.
I mean, isn’t it an opposition leader’s to take the lead on deficit-related criticisms of the gov’t since it deals with the whole of gov’t spending? After all, as everyone remembers, Iggy, when he was leader, led the charge on the issue; he didn’t merely delegate that role and responsibility solely to his finance critic and others, instead taking it on himself — both in QP, scrums and arranged interviews.
So where is Boob on the issue? Worse, where’s the CM and when are they going to probe him on his silence?
“Your predecessor, Mr. Rae, asked probably 100s of questions and raised concerns just as many times during his tenure as Lib leader pertaining to the deficit — in QP, scrums, arranged interviews and the like — yet you haven’t made it your focus ever as interim leader… Can you explain to Canadians exactly why that is?”
Asking him that question would certainly burn him up inside, which is why I would love to see someone pose it. And I would wonder how long it would take him to deviate off topic, to go off on a tangent by incorporating some scary, hidden social agenda he alleges the Tories are secretly harboring.
Abortions, capital punishment, guns and the future of gay marriage in Canada, these are the things we need to be focused on, people”, Rae would likely respond.
And in their expected defense posture of Rae, the CM would surely avoid the main criticism of him from that scrum by focusing instead on his criticisms of the gov’t by pushing headlines like “Rae comes out swinging against the Harper gov’t” or “Harper gov’t harbors scary hidden Agenda: Rae” and the topic focuses that they would establish to go along with it.
That’s not lazy journalism. That’s dishonest journalism.
Sorry for the long post, Joanne. But it seems new threads open just as quickly as the previous ones run their course.
Milewski is the proverbial snake in the grass. He may be lying low, but once things get stirred up (like in an election campaign) that is when he feeds.
Roger Smith just now on ctv (should be on cbc) says PMSH’s trip ‘reminds him of the trips Chretien used to make to China’..yeah Rog. Like we’ve forgotten that loser and need to be reminded!
Wonder what he thinks of the great media coverage our PM is getting in China. Roger made a remark that what the papers say will tell the tale. So, why is ctv not telling the truth re how our PM is being treated.
And it is above the fold, which I gather is very important
Sammy, I have not seen any mention of Stephen Harper’s visit to China on CTV all morning. CBC is highlighting the prime ministers visit every half hour.
CTV news net is all Toronto these days.
I think Milewski may have been told to calm it down a bit…. I think there was a lot of flack on his past reporting… and people were turning CBC off. I use to watch it on a regular basis – I now only tune it in now and then like when the PM is on a trip away — just to see how they are manging to bash him….. or sometimes watch their headlines at night – just to see the bashing they intend to give our Government, if they mention them at all… The more we tune them out – the more their ratings fall…. and that would be great if they fell right over the cliff..”SUN NEWS” is on at my place – when I am not watching a particular program – No CTV or CBC… As far as Peter goes…. his contract is so overflowing – they can’t do anything to control that liberal hack. If they were to let him go – he would walk away with over a million dollar package… so they have to keep him… Sad – and it is us who pay his bills -
Exactly. Milewski was the cause of a huge number of compaints to management and the ombudsman for his antics during the election campaign. While management would always back him publicly, even they cannot be pleased when the reporter becomes the news story. I think it extremely unlikely that he has gained some respect for the Prime Minister.

Another slightly less negative piece from Paul Wells, although he can’t completely give up on taking shots at the PM.
But while individual elements of Stephen Harper’s signing ceremony Thursday night in a fancy Beijing ballroom may not pan out, at some point the weight of evidence starts to suggest something real is going on. The evidence at hand comes, not just from Canadian sources, but from Chinese.
The first source of the morning was the semi-official English-language China Daily, which reserves real excitement for vice-premier Xi Jingping’s upcoming trip to the United States but which has been respectful, and a little more than that, toward Stephen Harper all week.
Later in the day came Harper’s bilateral meeting with Hu Jintao. Here, no trace of scolding for time spent posturing in the early years of Harper’s term as prime minister. Now, Hu said, “Mr. Prime Minister, you put a lot of value on Canada’s relationship with China and are strongly committed to promoting the practical cooperation between our two countries. I appreciate your efforts.” Translation: You’re out of the doghouse. Come here, ya big lug.
Then there were the umpty-dump agreements and protocols Harper and Hu announced, some of them rehashed just like yesterday’s, but notable for their sheer number. Harper and Barack Obama did not have this much stuff to announce after their first meeting in Ottawa in 2009. Taken together, the announcements suggest a resolve to strike up a working relationship.
Perhaps a few people in the press sorps have finally come to the conclusion that the big guy is going to be around for a while, and they might do better to try and get along with him.
The opposition and their media cronies only oppose for the sake of opposing, thinking their topsy-turvy positions will lend them some relevance and credibility.
Our PM was criticized for speaking openly about the issue of human rights when he first became PM.
From a CTV News story entitled Harper discusses human rights with Vietnamese PM Fri. Nov. 17, 2006:
“… The Chinese have sent a very strong message to Canada — that they’re not very happy with the way the Tory government has shown its support for the Dalai Lama and taken a stand on human rights in China.”
[Erik Kuhonta, professor of political science at McGill University] Kuhonta said Harper appears to be veering away from the traditional foreign policy of Canada, which was much more subtle and discussed only trade issues in public. …”
In that report, the CTV’s Roger Smith referred to “alleged persecution of religious groups and alleged dissidents …” — as if those persecutions and dissidents were a matter of opinion rather than fact.
Then in an August 19, 2008 Ottawa Citizen article entitled Harper has messed up relations with China: Chrétien, former PM Chretien was quoted:
“Stephen Harper made a political blunder by failing to attend the Olympic opening ceremonies in China, Jean Chrétien charged yesterday as he denounced the sitting prime minister for burning bridges and undoing decades of goodwill between the two countries with his swipes at the emerging superpower. …
“I would have been at the Olympics myself,” said Mr. Chrétien, who also lambasted the government for alienating the Chinese by bestowing honorary Canadian citizenship on the Dalai Lama of Tibet. …”
In 2009, John Ibbitson wrote an article entitled China publicly scolds Harper for taking too long to visit.
The media seemed delighted that the Chinese had scolded — their interpretation — our PM for taking too long to visit China.
So now that the PM is again visiting China and placing emphasis on both the business and human rights aspect, the opposition wants the issue of human rights to be paramount.
The opposition and their allies apparently live in an antipodal world of their own.
Yes Gabby, the opposition and their media trumpets are opposing for the sake of opposing which makes them off the mark and pathetic. In fact some of their previous views and statements will be coming back to haunt them.
Sad really, sure hope the outside world isn’t peeking in on their nonsense, the embarrassment meter would be over the top with their juvenile antics.
Way OT, but just turned on CPAC and the debate on the NDP motion re the Canada Investment Act. The conservative MP from N.S. (i think) gave a very good speech, starting with myth, then the fact, re the job losses in London. His only mistake, IMHO, was referring to CAW, instead of Ken L.
I hope the NDP paid attention to his closing stmt. As my mother used to say, telling a lie over and over, it is still a lie.
Irene Matheson (sp) twice rose on a point of order and point of privilege and was shot down by the Speaker. Apparently it was mentioned she did not attend a conference re this, and she wanted it recorded that she was out of the country and sent a staff member.
Our REDford Govt tables a budget today, hints it will be a reduced deficit budget, oh whoopee.
But, She and her soon to be retired FinMin will not (walked out of a media scrum) discuss income tax increases and new taxes ….. until after the election.
Yup, they said everything is up for review, including income taxes.
So why in the H are they insisting on passing a budget they have zero intentions of implimenting?
Just call the election and let’s get at it!
Maybe McGuinty advised her ‘don’t sign a pledge to not increase taxes’
Maybe Campbell advised her ‘ don’t say no to tax increases’
She refuses to say ‘no’ to increased and new taxes…… we’ll talk later.
She is the Kim Cambell of 2012 …. an election campaign is no time to talk about serious issues.
Wilson, she is throwing it out there then pays attention to the outcry from the public then retracts or simply say that she will not increase taxes among other things and when she sees the crowd subsides or take her word for it she continues with other tactis “hide and seek’ game. When the election closes in, Redford comes out with a fantastic story or policy thar will hopefully ensure her a position as Premier for 4yrs, during which time and slowly will impliment what she had intended to do like raise taxes.
Redford is playing the dalton tactics but one thing she failed to comprehend is that we David Rutherford who does not play games with any political party and I promise you he will remind us of her intentions.
I am thoroughly disgusted with this premier and her nanny state ways. I don’t know why she didn’t tell her finance minister to set expected revenue to 41 billion so she could claim to have a balanced budget. Flash backs of Don Getty’s incompetent finances anyone?
Jo — I just put up a new post about Tim Hudak in preparation for this weekends AGM in Niagara Falls. http://crux-of-the-matter.com/2012/02/09/on-pc-leader-tim-hudak-has-to-inspire-and-soon/
Just wanted to let you and regulars know that I had to change my theme/template and the comment feature is a bit different. You just click on the little talking bubble at the top right corner of the post.
So, what happened to my last theme? I had my wp “Settings”programmed to show 5 posts on the HOME page. Yet, you couldn’t get to the bottom of the HOME page without scrolling through all the hundreds of posts I have done since 2007. It was crazy. You’d get down ten more posts and there would be a pause, then ten more would show up. It took me a half hour to finally get to the bottom. LOL
Frankly, I was worried my actual blog was contaminated, so am thankful it was only the theme/template.
Ah well, technology is always improving whether we are ready or not.
Sounds like fun and games Sandy!
Babysitting just now but I’ll check your post out later. Yes blogging can be so frustrating.
Anyone here catch the little chat between Don Martin, and airhead Amanda Blitz around noonish today? If there was ever any doubt re how in the tank ctv, especially Martin, are with the Libs this was a glowing example.Talk about sheer hypocrisy,it was astounding! Blitherhead Blitz asked Martin, about the story re the Pro-lifers ‘taking over the Liberal party’..and Martin just blew it off! He actually said,’it was a nothing story’ and that there were lots of Libs/Dips that were pro-life and this was going non-story basically! HUH?????????????? Uh,Donnie, you moron, how much msm coverage, and hysteria has been thrown at the lone Cons.MP that had the gall to mention the rights of the unborn? What a stunner, that Martin would so blatantly provide cover for the libs in this.
Another good one,was in QP today, when some no-name Dipper went on the attack with James Moore over the cbc having to close Radio-Canada station in LaRonge,Sask! Moore informed him cbc had closed this over a yr ago, when the lone ‘reporter’ from there retired!
Kelly McParland has a column up at Full Comment about the Liberal Pro-Life story.
What I love Jo,is the sound of crickets coming from the msm! Where is Mizz Mallice of Torstar, and her outrage? How come the Dippers haven’t even come out to slam the Libs for these rebels not towing the party line? Oh yeah, the Dips just had 2 of their N.Ont MP’s vote WITH the Cons.re the gun registry, yet all we hear in msm is about those ‘out-of-touch’ Cons! Blah, they make me sick!!
Time to vote on evan solomon’s ballot box question my blue buddies!
Already done Fay! Vote..and vote often..I wanna see Evan’s head explode, cuz right now we are winning.
I love it when Evan’s media party bubble bursts. He has no idea people living outside Toronto have common sense. It is obvious he actually agrees with kady o.
OMG..that idiot ndp hack on P&P just likened PMSH to Will Ferrell the comedian.Hmmm, maybe she’s just upset the first dipper candidate for leader has dropped out…Saganash gone!
On today’s date at 2:pm at 16:00 mark you will hear Adler talk about ‘go west’
listen to him until commercial then move the marker further up to listen to the rest of the tape. Adler did an awesome characterizing quebec.

Grant Gordon wins Liberal nomination in Toronto-Danforth,
He is not the pro life guy.
Ah too bad. Link here.
So now McGuinty is going to go chopping, gonna get those books in order, so where to start? Apparently full day kindergarten is on the block, nothing about windmills and solar or anything under the green banner which is the one that’s going to put us out of business, already is.The horse has left the barn on a gallop.
Just saw the story on CP24 (CTV), one of my local newscasts and a network that acts as a mouthpiece for the McGuinty gov’t. And predictably the report was a summary report, complete with the usual “rationalization” that we can expect for whatever is cut — “it’s about finding efficiencies”
With the province’s austerity budget introduced around the same time as the fed’s, it will be interesting to watch how the Consensus Media cover the two stories. The Harper gov’t will get plenty of “slash and burn” coverage from them, complete with “who’s being hurt by their cuts” angles to the story while the McGuinty gov’t will get “finding efficiencies” and “trasformational change” angles played up.
Jon – Very astute observation.
New post up on that topic.
