Yes Sun New Network has a legitimate beef.
But here’s the biggest reason why James Moore needs to be shuffled out of Heritage -
Heather Mallick thinks he’s “FAIR-MINDED!”
(H/T Norman Spector)
And that’s all you need to know.
Of course, an endorsement from Margaret Atwood would seal the deal.

With Kris Simms signing a sworn affidavit, this story has now moved into a new realm. Moore will either have to call Simms a liar or he will have to resign his seat since he will no longer be fit to serve in the capacity of Heritage Minister. There’s no third option for him. Worse for the media, if Moore does resign, how are they going to report his resignation to Canadians without telling them of the story that led to his resignation? Are they going to report half the news in that instance too? Are they going to only report the exchange between Moore and Simms but stop short of reporting the CBC porno story which got the ball rolling? Are they going to risk getting caught keeping Canadians in the dark for the second times on the very same story?
You see, that’s the danger for the Selective Reporting Media and why they’re playing with fire: once this story branches out there forced to play catch up and risk being seen by Canadians as trying to bury the truth. I think there arrogance over the years of thinking they still have exclusive control over the news is finally catching up to them. They all need refresher courses on risk management or risk a continued erosion of their credibility… what little they have left.
You also never hear the opposition wanting Moore to resign,as they love him.To me Moore is no more of a conservative than Jane Taber,Oliver,or Solomon.
Let me see if I’ve got this straight… both the CBC and their Consensus Media clones ran with a story in 2007 from an NDP MP who had CLAIMED she had witnessed a Tory MP viewing porn on his cell phone inside the HoC which they knew that, EVEN IF TRUE, which it wasn’t, no one, ONLY HE AND A FEW OTHERS around him could see (not Canadians EN MASSE) yet REAL smut featuring REAL skin from people simulating REAL sex acts and that has been PRESENTED online FOR ALL TO SEE and PAID FOR BY ALL TAXPAYERS, including Consensus Media reporters BTW, is somehow no biggie and thus not worth reporting to Canadians?! I see!
Oh, I forgot, there’s a major difference for them, isn’t there? TASTEFUL vacation *PICS* of the MP’s wife on the beach in a bikini — which is what he had actually viewed — COULD’VE BEEN, um, smut, RIGHT? And thus it was their job to DUTIFULLY REPORT TO ALL CANADIANS THE DETAILS OF THE STORY while CBC content PAID FOR BY THE TAX DOLLARS OF THOSE VERY SAME CANADIANS that depicts VIDEO, not stills, of threesomes engaging in sex acts — in bedrooms and up against walls — is qualified as *gasp* “content acceptable for those 16 and over”. Gotcha guys.
BTW, it begs the question, what if that MP WAS viewing porn, actual porn… CBC PORN?!! Would the Consensus Media have reported it then? Gee, that surely would have put them on the horns of a dilemma now wouldn’t it? My bet is that they would’ve changed their minds at the last second, choosing instead to scrub their reports fearing that the CBC porn angle could “steal the focus” from their goal of smearing the MP they had mutually targeted… Oh, and let’s not forget, and this is VERY IMPORTANT to point out: one such angle played up by both the media and the NDP MP that brought them the story was to put heavy emphasis on PORN BEING EXPLOTATIVE TO WOMEN. Hypocrites! All of them!
If I’m a Tory backbencher sitting as a spill over on the opposition side of the HOC and looking to push my gov’t on the issue of the CBC, I’d be whipping out my smart phone today during QP, watching some CBC PORN this time, daring the opposition MPs sitting near me to turn me in to the media…. BEGGING them in fact, so I can get some actions on this file. I guess they wouldn’t utter a peep though… only showing outrage if I had viewed online porn from a website that DOESN’T get a gov’t subsidy.
Sorry for the long post BTW but I’m hopping mad!
Jon, that is an excellent summation of the situation and a great analysis of an important “what if” scenario. Well said!
It was Minister Moore who was accused of looking at porn in the House,
which makes his ‘joke’ comment about the Sunshine Girls beyond strange.
Ndp then Irene Matherson stood up at the back and with her X-RAY vision manage to see through the laptop cover into his email to scream out that he Moore was watching porn.
BTW it wad Moore’s fiance then who sent him a photo of her in a bikini on the beach.
I notice at times that the SNN refrain or not mention much of the liberals own disaster that was left to this PM to clean up.
The hypocrites in Opposition would be howling like Banshees, we’d have complete mayhem if this crap was aired anywhere on Sun News, somehow it’s acceptable and Moore is a fine Minister for not dealing with the French arm of the CBC over this. Saying he hadn’t seen it can only last so long, his time is up, he’s had time to find out what the hell is going on, it takes just a few seconds to check it out and do something about it.
Bye, bye James? I don’t think we’ll see anything right away, it’s not his fault but it is his responsibility to deal with it. The PM takes a long time to make his mind up on such matters, he’ll wait to measure the outrage, it’s up to us to make sure he gets our views.
Ezra Levant DID show it last night on The Source. He is amazing. He just hit the suicide squeeze bunt.
Some really funny comments on a post over at SDA on this. Hey we may as well have fun with it, we’re paying for this crap, the only way we can get our money’s worth is to mock CBC programs.
I can’t remember the last time I laughed that hard……creative genius!
Here’s how I see events unfolding… Moore refuses to apologize, calls Simms a liar, is forced to resign eventually, sits as a disgruntled backbencher upset with everybody, including his own party. He quits and sits for a while as an independent. He does a one-on-one with Mansbrdge (Fireplace setting, like Guergis, with a glass of warm sedative-laced milk offered by Mansbridge to the former Tory minister, given to relax him in order to squeeze more secrets from the party he once was a part of) and then shortly thereafter becomes Liberal No. 36, finally finding his home after being lost for many years.
Agreed – Sent a letter to the editor of our newspaper wrt this story.
Will be interesting to see if they run with it. This is a hot ticket item on the news talkshow here, so it’s not as if the public are not aware.
The CBC is pretty bold to be offering this type of viewing to Canadian taxpayers’ and I believe this is the ultimate end to Minister moore.
He avoids, or not privy to what actually goes on in CBC circles but defends them.
We won’t miss you Mr. Moore perhaps you can catch on at CBC and recognized as “The mole that came in from the cold!”
Looks good on ya!
I don’t think we’ll see Moore resign. I also don’t believe that Harper would request it.
The Opposition and their media puppies are just as irrelevant today as they will be six months or a year from now. When usually Liberal media types start criticizing the Opposition it’s a clear sign that the Harper gov’t is under no threat.
I actually think that these sideshows help Harper, and strength the SNN team and their ratings because they go after the wrongs that used to slide under the rug.
So far, nothing the Opposition has raised since the election matters to Canadians.
That the liberal excuse-maker media give the as much unearned face time and sound bites further dig their holes for them
I heard the James Moore rant at SNN. I’m absolutely fine with what he said BECAUSE I was confident that Ezra, Brian, Charles and company would fight back for themselves. That my friends is why more and more Canadians are flocking to SNN for their news and information.
http://www.ottawacitizen.com/business/Opposition%2Bneeds%2Bshow%2Bbetter/6094450/story.html
You have to know that what SNN did in faking that Citizenship ceremony was going to get headlines from the left today. So what? Nothing new or unusual about that. SNN did give them fodder for this one.
Here’s the best column of the day today IMO http://www.torontosun.com/2012/02/02/heres-why-we-all-hate-politics
It has been ESTABLISHED that SNN had NO part in the deception. In fact they were the victims! The Minister himself absolved SNN. Peddle your inaccurate rants elswhere.
Yeah, SNN had no part in the deception, in the first place, Brian Lilley said they could have done it with four people, they didn’t need stand-ins for those who couldn’t make it.
Too much tiresome gotcha going on among the media and the opposition. There are more important things to discuss and attend to than this crazy crap.
SNN didn’t fake it, a civil servant decided to fake it and didn’t have permission too or let SNN know that the people were stand ins.
I see SNN as the victim here.
right. The SNN’s implication was made by the twit journalist and as lemmings will do the other twits followed closely and the opposition had their sideshow of the day.
I do think that the bureaucrats and Minister have some explaining to do still.
Some very reasonable words from David Akin on the “fake” ceremony issue
http://blogs.canoe.ca/davidakin/politics/on-the-subject-of-those-fake-new-canadians-at-the-citizenship-ceremony/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Moore’s ongoing defense of the CBC is way over the top , and it doesn’t make any sense … unless of course the CBC has promised some future compensation for acting as their shield.
I’m curious to see where he ends up after he is done with politics.
Maybe selling real estate or, as a lawyer, he might stick up his shingle. However, I don’t think James is finished with politics unless his constituency boots him out.
End of the world. A cabinet minister MUST resign, so says Sun News Network.
SNN has been a disappointment. Fire a minister because he asked how the Sunshine girls are doing? Give me a flipping break.
Desperate to create news SNN, make yourselves a player in the MSM attack crew?
I hardly think reporting that CBC was offering a porn program on line is desperate . On the other hand the real news is CBC, CTV and Global ‘s attempt to bury this story.
Keep up the good work SUNTV.
good point Paul.
Paul, you obviously haven’t a clue. Sunshine girls is a sexist chauvinist comment meant to put down and humiliate the “sexy” girls at SNN. First of all, they are not “girls” which is the first part of the put down. They are mature women.
Second of all, a male (or female) would never say that to someone they considered a “professional” journalist.
No one at SNN is making a big deal about that phrase but when I heard the phrase I groaned because it was so 60s.
Now, imagine someone calling Wendy Mesley or Diana Swain a sunshine girl or Peter Mansbridge a toy boy or a sunshine boy (which the Sun news chain used to have) and you will get my point.
Assume also that Moore or another Conservative Minister had made that comment to a CBC reporter and the entire consensus media would be asking for their resignation.
Most of us here are simply getting sick of the double standards about everything.
That Sunshine Girl remark was a shot at Sun Media…period. The Sunshine Girl has been a controversial section of the paper for YEARS. We’ve even had Sunshine Boys. It’s a part of the paper because, wait for it, there’s a demand for it. People like it. It’s not sexually exploitation any more than the personal ads, or ads for X-rated things are in other papers and periodicals.
That SNN is standing up for it’s own is admirable, but worth of a Minister to be dethroned. I don’t think so.
Don’t know why Moore mentioned the Sunshine Girls, he obviously knows about them! He seemed to be antagonistic like he was trapped and was fighting back more on instinct than using his head or keeping his cool. IMO his attitude said it all, it stunk.
Also the Sun chain bill themselves as tabloid style newspapers. Sunshine Girls haven’t offended anyone who buys it.
Right Liz J. There is a huge difference between a Sunshine girl or boy in the print editions of the Sun Chain. Those individuals know what they are doing.
However, calling a group of Sun Media journalists “Sunshine girls” is demeaning and as Joanne said condescending. There is no connection in any way.
And, if a Minister of the Crown can be so dismissive, it means he is not worthy of his position. This didn’t happen years ago before he was an MP as was the case with other Conservatives that the consensus media went after. Note too that said media is not saying anything — only SNN. That in itself is telling.
A little side story: Sometime between 1990 and 1995 when Bob Rae’s NDP government was at Queen’s Park, one of his ministers, Peter Kormos, posed as a Sunshine Boy. The outrage from the NDP was immediate and Rae fired him. He stayed the rest of that mandate on the back benches.
So, it will be interesting to hear what Rae says about Moore’s comments.
I think the women at SNN can handle the slants to be honest. The reporter did what she should have done….finish her job and then report what happened to authorities (her bosses) and let them handle things with their lawyers.
That they didn’t bite shows they have more balls than to some MPs and other journos.
Um Paul. the sunshine girls comment was not the issue. What was the issue was telling Kris Simms that she was a pawn being used by Paledau (sp?) to undercut Quebec CBC and that SunTV would be shut down when it happened. THAT is unacceptable and smacks of being in Cahoots with the CBC to ensure their survival. He HAD to have gotten that idea from somewhere and CBC and their “friends with benefits” seems like the source. Threatening a broadcaster to protect one on the taxpayer dime is not OK in my books.
Wow, did he really say that?? Sounds like a protection racket and Moore is acting as the muscle. Completely unacceptable. Moore should also not forget that CBC is not competing. In fact, they are parasitical because they use public money to occupy bandwidth that could otherwise be occuppied by private networks.
If anything Moore owes the SNN reporter a personal and professional apology. But lost his job? No, it’s not a matter of national integrity, and given that the usual suspects from the Liberal media by are usually the ones paying attention to tabloid trash headlines, I can see where Moore might be accused of blowing off the SNN reporter…and wrongly so.
Is mild manner in dealing with the CBC is in-line with the govt’s softball approach to the CBC in general. Harper himself has been treating the CBC like a spoiled child, so I think blame needs to be cast from the head of the gov’t on down.
What we continue to do sometimes that I think is a mistake is that we assume the victim position in what the media does or doesn’t do, because the CPC are used to always getting the short end of the left-leaning media stick. We’re no longer victims in this game. We’re making the news and have SNN to counter the crap of the leftist media. At some point there needs to be a shift in our thinking to assume the posture of the winning party that we were last May. Nothing whatsoever that has happened this week threatens the Harper gov’t.
That we continue to waste tax dollars on the CBC and now, knowing that it’s being spent on porn is going to tick the public off royally and it’s something those lefty-lemmings fail to recognize.
Yikes, an endorsement from the brat of the pack for this Minister surely won’t be taken as a compliment by the Minister, will it?
Well after his snarky conversation, I suppose anything is possible.
The statements imo even border on being sexist and beyond disappointing to me. There is nothing left to respect with JM. He’s lost all credibility.
So far I’ve seen nothing in the mainstream press or CBC/CTV about the story. Since both the minister and the PMO have issued statements, quoted in the SNN article, the story must surely be reported, probably today sometime. This leaves an organization like CP looking very bad. There star investgative journalist, J. Ditchburn is sitting on this story. Does she risk her high paying gig on CBC and report the hated Sun scooped story, or does she do nothing. So far it is the latter, but this just illustrates the basic conflict of interest apparent when members of the Parliamentary Press gallery freelance on the CBC.
nationalnewswatch finally put up some Sun links.
If the Media Party don’t cover the story, twitter/facebook/blogs will send viewers to SunNN….. ha
Note to Minister Moore… saying ‘just between you and me’ to a reporter you are about to insult, not a good thing.
SunNN is not an arm of the CPC, which is about to become obvious to all.
I really don’t care how PMSH handles Minister Moore,
my concern is OUR Conservative TV being dragged into a mess not of their own making.
And of course, I would like the CBC gone gone gone.
Funny thing is, if the Media Party didn’t hate SunNN, the Paledau (sp?) story is pretty juicey and worth following up on.
But it will be SunNN that gets the exclusive.
Sun News kind of lucky with this Moore snafu distracting attention away from their botched citizenship promotion bit, which happened 4 months ago but is suddenly breaking news.
almost makes you wonder if the news was held back until something came along they needed to downplay..like Porn on. the CBC?
Just sayin’
Once again, ctv outdoes cbc (I know..hard to do)…they have Mizz.Heather Mallice on panel again, discussing the “tar” sands,PMSH’s trip to China.Milczarek refers to “Harper’s trip as his get out of jail free card”..then laughs about all we’ll get is ‘a panda!’..Mallice tells us ‘she’s tired of pandas’ Maybe she is more fond of snakes,as they are in the same slimy category as she is!
There is only one way for Moore to partially redeem himself, take the money for cbc and divide it equally between the other networks. lol
He must cut that budget by a huge amount, along with other funding to so called arts and culture groups across Canada.
Even that wont save him from scorn.
Love the label SunTv has given to the cbc, Canadian Bawdy Corporation. I bet that sticks with them. Who would have guessed that Peter M would support porn.
George alphabet, no surprise there.
With the story re child porn and the arrest of 200 breaking the same day, makes one wonder who those 200 are.
I wonder how Wendy Mesley supports CBC porn but broke the story on Manitoba judge and hubby paying for sex with clients. I would refuse to defend either story but Wendy Mesley ‘s silence is deafening.
From twitter:
@jenditchburn: You know, I don’t think any self-respecting media org should fund soft porn. bit.ly/mYc04g
Funny coming from someone who works for a media outlet that puts actual porn with actual nudity on the internet all funded by taxpayers. The sunshine girls thing is non-nude pictures.
Jennifer’s comments should not get her off the hook, either, The story that’s taken over the funding of the porn story is, IMO, the media’s whitewashing of the story. Jennifer will go on P&P and will, without any degree of discomfort (no twitching, no look of feeling uncomfortable), engage in conversation with Solomon who will ask, “What do we make of the criticism of the Harper gov’t on the opposition’s accusation that they’re wasting taxpayer’s dollars [on some miscellaneous issue, let's say] and that the gov’t seems to be running from that criticism”.
Jennifer is just acting out of expediency, probably having watched Levant take her down last night by calling her “The CBC’s princess”… I can’t remember exactly but it was something pejorative and that challenged her credibility… and she trying to avoid being a target of his again. A tweet from her doesn’t cut it for me, I want her to bring that up in front of Solomon and say it with conviction… otherwise she is to be dismissed too.
o/t
There ‘were’ 3 Dipper MPs in Winnipeg after the 2008 election, until the 2011 Orange Crush that swept our nation, acutally dumped 2 of them,
leaving Pat Martin the lone Dipper (and the CPC vote share up 6%)
Winnipeggers deserves better than this:
“Nobody elected this son of a bitch, he should keep his comments to himself,” Martin told the Winnipeg Free Press.
He added perhaps his only mistake was that he didn’t include the required honorific when addressing a senator.
“I should have called him an honourable a—hole.”
another o/t
(heh Ms Megan, you are on the wrong side of Canadians with that Dipper ideology)
Canadians support Northern Gateway goals: (Nanos) Poll
……Even in B.C., where previous polls have found higher opposition to Northern Gateway, 70% tell Nanos they like the idea of reducing Canadian reliance on the U.S. to buy oil and other energy exports.
Support for energy-market diversification cut across party lines too, with more than 70% of Conservative, Liberal and NDP supporters saying they backed the idea. ….
http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Politics/2012/02/01/19326066.html
The most disturbing thing to me in all of this is the Minister’s threat to remove the license of SUNN over a personal beef. This is what you would expect in Venezuela or some other tinpot dictatorship nation. He needs to go ASAP.
I won’t try to predict if Moore will resign or if Harper will tell him to resign. My gut feeling is neither will happen. But he blew this one big time. This episode and how he went after Sun Media and issuing veiled threats is quite incredible.
The CBC is nothing more than a left wing dictatorship doing whatever it damn well pleases. It’s a disgrace, and Moore made a complete fool of himself. He really should resign.
I agree with you completely ED. Well said!
And the fact it was caught on camera makes it all the more important that this be kept in the news.
Jennifer Ditchburn is establishing herself as one of the hardest left leaning pundits in the media. I don’t really want to call her a “journalist” because she’s been gradually shifting into the opinion business. At this point, I’m just trying to figure out if she votes Liberal or Dipper. All opinion pundits should disclose who they vote for, just so the common folk know where they are coming from.
Regarding James Moore, my opinion of him has been falling steadily over the past 2 years. There was a time when he was a young rising star in the Conservative Party, but he’s turned a lot of people off. If he wants to be a crusader for the CBC, he’s the wrong guy to have in the Heritage portfolio. I’d like to do a poll question regarding Moore, I just haven’t decided what the question should be.
Question: Do you think James Moore’s comment to the SNN journalist was dismissive and chauvinistic?
Yes – Plus condescending.
I was thinking about a larger picture question like “do you think James Moore should be sitting in Cabinet?”
Extremely on both. The look on his face during the interview that WAS on the record, bordered on a very creepy, simmering anger so I too agree with Joanne on “condescending”.
What this whole thing has exposed in my mind is that James Moore has no credibility on this file because of this series of conversations.
He comes across as a typical snake in the grass politician and his sexist “Sunshine Girls” comment implied to me precisely what you felt too, Sandy.
Ditchburn gives me the creeps, wouldn’t trust her with the time of day. One thing is obvious, she’s ultra anti-Conservative and anti-Stephen Harper. I think she’s on the gotcha brigade big time.
On those at issue panels she makes Chantal Hebert feel like a moderate.
Dear ‘Helen’ and all your other aliases whose comments I routinely delete before they even get to this blog: Go away. Go far, far away.
Pingback: Minister Moore jeopardizes Sun News with his comments to reporter « BC Blue: One BC Conservative's view on it all…
Yes, I think James Moore should resign. For one thing it clearly indicates a pro-CBC bias. For another it shows he lacks the common sense and integrity to be a minister of the crown.
Awhile back some were suggesting that he could one-day replace the PM as CPC leader. Not a chance now. He just doesn’t have the smoothness and quick-on-his-feet abilities it would take.
And, as I said above to Paul, underneath it all, his sunshine girls comment clearly shows him to be a chauvinist. Female journalists, no matter which network they work for, should be treated as professionals and women, not girls.
Moore’s treatment of Sun TV female reporters reminds me of Sid Ryan.
Boy that’s right Fay! You’ve got to be a tough woman to work for SNN it seems.
Have you seen or heard any of the women on SNN sitting back and taking this? They haven’t. Treating them like professionals means also that they’re strong enough to take the crap and hit back….which they’re doing.
Did Moore cross the line? Yes. His comment about threatening to shut SNN down is why. Also, his blow-off of the CBC porn before having seen it himself. In those two ways I question his judgement.
The other stuff is just hot-head, knee jerk and reactionary.
I don’t think the PM would make him resign because of this incident, but on the historic light he’s making of the CBC and its being accountable to taxpayers the PM should consider replacing him. I did notice that the PM has over-ruled him and came out with his own statement. That tells me that he’s not happy about this either .
I forgot to mention that the SNN journalist deserves a personal and professional apology from Moore. She’s just the messenger.
That he melted down on TV makes the optics look very bad. That alone should clue the PM to look for another Heritage Minister I think.
I’m also wondering what his new wife thinks of his attitude?
Maybe his new wife works for CBC? Who knows?
I heard his new wife works in the PMO.
Did I not hear that there will be an open nomination in Moore’s riding? That’s a way to get get him out. A strong candidate in that riding needs to come forth, challenge him and win. Moore NEEDS TO LOSE that nomination.
BTW, anyone know when this nomination takes place so can work to get him defeated?
The election isn’t till 2015, and he has to go before then. One way would be to defund the Heritage ministry.
Or they could amalgamate it with another minister and leave him out in the cold. Cost cutting you know.
No CPC candiates will be protected in 2015,
so that applies to all.
They were only protected in 2011 because of the minority situtation and the coalition of losers perched to swoop in at any time.
From what I gathered at the liberal convention, no lib mp will be protected next time around either. Could that be the end of Hedy and Ralph
In the name of God let’s hope so!!!!
Attawapiskat news
the new homes are now on the road
Judge tells Chief 3rd party manager stays, no injunction
Bravo for the Judge, it’s about time someone takes control of the obvious waste and mismanagement in that place.
James Moore – a disapointment on so many levels. You have to wonder if he always felt this way – or was turned by rubbing shoulders with the lefty elites of the CBC, MSM and the culture despots of downtown Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Cheers.
Well like here in Calgary, people that we NEVER would have supported under the ‘Joe Who’/Charlatan Charest PC’s, there still remain some very progressive/liberal Conservatives. My MP, who was PC, IS AWESOME but a small minority of his volunteers, not so much.
I have never found this MP to be all that titillating, inspiring, spirited……so when he was assigned the ‘Heritage’ Ministry……I was concerned. He has always appeared to be far more progressive than conservative. To defend this garbage with the CBC is indefensible and he really should be less defensive and far more mature. IMO
Perhaps that was the plan…I hope that was the plan because he is a dud!
( so when has there ever been a collection of LIBERALS or DIPPERS calling out one of their own?…….We are the voters with integrity and demand truth and honesty)
For me the big story isn’t the waste of taxpayers’ dollars, as egregious as that is. It’s been replaced by the Consensus Media’s behavior and how they have, through their omission of the story, determined that the CBC has done no wrong here. Appalling!
Simply put, this is NOT FOR THEM TO DECIDE! It’s for ME and YOU! Their job is to report the story and to let us decide if spending our hard-earned tax dollars on Internet porn is an appropriate use — or abuse — of their $1.1 billion annual bailout.
I find it particularly odious that these media “organs” are getting the story into their newsrooms, talking about it amongst themselves, but making sure it never gets disseminated to the public. How arrogant is that?!
This is one of the most egregious breaches of journalistic ethics imaginable — showing us that only THEY but not US can be trusted with the story. They are violating the very oath they took when they first became journalists and should be shamed as a a result. Any subjective element to their defense can be removed… that is to say they can’t say, “it’s your opinion that we’re not reporting the story.” It’s pretty black and white. You either report it or you don’t.
I hope Canadian take notice and realize that the Consensus Media simply can’t be trusted.
O/T: Got a big party ahead at 5:30pm EST. My second great-grandson is celebrating his first birthday today!!!
Enjoy the birthday party great grandma Sandy try not to eat too much babycakes.
Now THAT Sandy..is what is most important!
Wow how time flies! And I agree with Sammy that these are the things that are most important in life.
And my precious wee GrDaughter (named after ME!) will be a yr old in May! Good Lord indeed, how time flies. And I still am too far away, and green with envy of you Grannies that get to nuzzle those chubby cheeks often, get to see those sweet smiles, the first tooth, ahhhh, and the wonderful smell of a clean babe. I really need to move to Alberta…now I am really missing her.
Yeah I guess Skype doesn’t quite cut it.
They grow up so fast. I seen my grandson every week and I still can’t believe how much he changes when I haven’t seen him for a few days.
Yea, I had a great time but had to share him with several other g/parents! His mother gave him a piece of cake and let him go at it in the high chair and it was something to behold. Lots of picture with cake all over his hands and face. He really seemed to enjoy himself.
Then, mom washed him up and put on clean clothes and he opened all his presents. Well, actually his 3 year old brother and a couple of the older brother’s invited friends helped open the gifts — if you know what I mean.
For regulars here and at CotM, how can it be possible that my first g/grandson is nearly 3 1/2 and will be going to JK in Sept. Remember, when I put his first photo up?
I brought the older boy a Valentine’s gift (one of the movie CARS matchbox vehicles) so he would have something to open. Another g/grandmother and g/grandfather gave him a CARS colouring book.
Anyway, it was fun. But, I was exhausted when I got home — from the noise. There is a reason we are young when we have small children. LOL
There is a reason we are young when we have small children
That thought goes through my head everytime I babysit. When did it get so hard to get off of the floor?
Glad you had such a great time Sandy!
What is really needed, is for a guest on P&P to do what Adrian McNair did when he outed Kady O’Malley 2 years ago, on her failure to report the climate change leaked e-mails. These appearences are not totally scripted, Solomon doen’t know what a guest might blurt out. He is quick to defuse the situation, but a person point blank asking him, or Ditchburn about the CBC/porn link story and their lack of reporting it, could be interesting. Of course it would be their last appearence on CBC, but someone might be up for it.
if people still tuned in to the consensus media you’d have a point Martin but they’re not. Certainly not in the numbers that makes them a threat to the truth of what Canadians believe.
You give the consensus media way too much credit for influencing the public….it doesn’t. Peter Mansbridge ranks 3rd after Global and CTV in evening news viewership. There’s a reason for that as more and more and more are turning off CBC.
Yeah Richco, it also means we’re being ripped off,we are not getting our money’s worth!
Right I agree with you about influence. Still with the climate e-mails there was about a 2 week lag and blog conversation was so relentless that the media was forced to partially carry the main story. I still expect this story to surface in the MSM, but I expected it today. Anyway am still waiting and watching.
But what to make of Harper’s statement: “The CBC’s mandate is to deliver quality programming to the regions and rural areas, not this material.”
Harper has quietly framed the CBC as the provider of ” quality programming to the regions and rural areas”.
The CBC could be that provider for 1/10 of their current subsidy. I can dream, can’t I.
“I know the job of SNN is too just bash the CBC…” — James Moore, the Minister of State Porn.
Since the CBC has not stopped peddling its online smut but choosing instead to change the hours in which it’s streamed, one can safely assume that Moore is okay with this development since he never told them, “No! It must go completely… GET RID OF IT!”
If he has taken their nude position, sorry I mean new position, as being some sort of “compromise” then I guess it’s a safe bet to expect him to next say to Simms, “I know you guys at SNN are against state-run porn…” and to say so in a similar defense posture for the CBC as he did the first time.
Seriously. He is allowing himself to be emasculated by his subordinates… I don’t know, maybe the role reversal of power is something kinky to him. In any case, he has to go!
BTW, another great monologue by Levant earlier… every time he goes after Moore it’s a think of beauty, like a Tomahawk Cruise Missile being launched from a ship, its afterburners disappearing into the dark night, destination… James Moore.
Did he really imply that he could/would pull the SunTv license.
No! He implied that the SNN staff were being ‘played by THEIR BOSS, being used and the plan by their boss was to USE THEM, accomplish his desired decimation of CBC (Que) then kaput….
It was more than a sarcastic statement, it was the last thing a mature, responsible, thoughtful MINISTER should say. He needs to go!
Indeed…..it was brilliant!
Ezra, about 15 years ago was a bit of nuisance to me. I didn’t quite get his hyper, what I perceived as precociousness.
When he stepped aside to let the current PM run in his riding, I started to look at him differently.
This is a warrior! Despite what I dislike, his penchant for interrupting (I really hate that about anyone), Ezra Levant is the greatest hero for freedom that we have in this country.
WE need to support everything that SNN is trying to provide to Conservatives because obviously, we don’t have it with the guy assigned the portfolio and we certainly don’t have it with ANY of the other (un) national networks..taxpayer funded, hanger on-er’s or otherwise.
I’m running a poll and right now 77% want James Moore out of cabinet. That’s far beyond Bev Oda, Christian Paradis, or Tony Clement. He’s approaching Helena Guergis territory, and it all happened in a few days.
I suppose you can argue it has slowly been building to this.
Mahar has a column at NNW where he says, SunTv, a small cable news company, blah blah-he thinks the porn stuff is ok and the attack on Moore is awful. Says it is just to get the spotlight off the immigration story.
I think Mahar missed the point that Sun TV isn’t supported by taxpayer dollars – unlike CBC.
Speaking of CBC, I assume David Suzuki is still on our payroll, he must have a record for hanger’s on.
Have to wonder if he’s not in some kind of conflict when he’s doing his activist rants against government policies or lack of them according to his environmental doctrine. Has he come out against the pipeline?

George Stromboulopoulous of CBC fame sits on the Suzuki Foundation Board of Directors.
http://www.davidsuzuki.org/about/board/
Strangely enough, Dr. Suzuki no longer sits on the Board, only his wife and daughter do.
I also wonder how much of foundation money gets funneled to David Suzuki Public School which also gets provincial tax dollars? They showed some clips of this school on a local news show the other night and WOW! It’s hallways and classrooms look like something out of the rainforest. Not like any other school I’ve seen lately.
Not mention what twists in the curriculum awaits kids who attend this school.
Remember how all the schools showed Gore’s “Inconvenient Truth” but not the other side of that tale. I suspect it will be heavily into environmental Armageddon as an obligation to live up to that name!
They had “Eco” clubs back in the late ’70′s/’80′s, guess that was about when Suzuki graduated from fruit flies to more fertile ground on the money scale, getting in early before people started to ask questions or challenge his theories. However, it’s all to no avail, he’s still going on, his mind is closed like the guy who invented the internet, yeah right, Nobel Prize winner, windbag Albert Gore.
This is done so Suzuki can claim arms length distance when he is shilling for politicians like Dalton McGuinty. I’m disappointed that Revneue Canada falls for this. The whole foundation is nothing but a political lobby group.
As it’s already been stated, primarily by Brian Lilley, the Consensus Media has ignored the CBC Porno controversy. It’s striking to do a Google Search for the term CBC porn and to find NO STORIES from them. The silence is deafening. However, I did find one link from Bell Media, which owns CTV News and is affiliated with the G&M.
Here it is and predictably, it doesn’t attack the CBC but SNN instead, and does so right out of the chute…
The newspaper chain that delivers scantily clad women to family doorsteps across Canada is shocked that mature content is available on the Internet. But that shock only applies if the source is nominally the taxpayer-funded CBC.
[...]
When a Sun reporter approached Moore for comment – before the minister had seen clips of Hard – he was quick to sniff out the Sun’s real reason for asking questions.
“I know you’re in the business of going after the CBC,” Moore said to the reporter.
Finally, truth in government.
If it’s acceptable for a private TV network to air risqué material, why is bad if a publicly-funded network does the same? Should a media company attack the competition through “news” stories?
I’d like to ask the Bell Media contributor, is it “truth in media” when Bell-owned media, such as CTV and its affiliated partner the G&M, won’t even report this story to Canadians? Like them, on that issue, he never addresses that issue.
SNN, finally, truth in media.
Sorry, I misfiled this comment in the previous thread.
As expected the first mention of the CBC/porn story is appearing in the commentary sections of todays press. Stepen Maher, definitely no friend of the CPC has this to say:
http://www.ottawacitizen.com/entertainment/Maher+plays+dirty+with+trumped+porn+scandal/6099666/story.html
He dismisses the story as so silly, and the site as not porn. Also in the Citizen is a roundtable by Kady O’Malley and Scott Reid where they ridicule the story and SNN.
That is not worth linking.
Sunnyside Nick on this subject now at cfra.com
Did I hear a caller to Nick this morning say that NDP Pat Martin said if Senator Boisvenu was so traumatized he shouldn’t be commenting on justice issues?
If this is true, how much more of his horrible outbursts be tolerated and still let him sit in the HOC?
Just a heads up, CTV’s QP on at 11AM EST… The panel near the end of the program will, I’m sure, temporarily lift their self-imposed policy of never attacking another media outlet… unless of course it’s the SNN.
The term “porn” itself will probably never be used, nor the story related to it even mentioned, their focus instead being on the Jason Kenney story and what, I’m sure, The Ottawa Citizen’s Dan Gardner will call another example of what he calls the connection between the Harper gov’t and SNN.
In my humble Canadian opinion… Dan Gardener is no friend to democracy.
“…The Ottawa Citizen’s Dan Gardner will call another example of what he calls the connection between the Harper gov’t and SNN.”
Fine. SNN can then portray the CBC, GLO-BULL, CTV as mouthpieces of the LPOC/NDPQ. The way the CBC operates though, they should be forced to be a political party with all the legalities that that entails, especially funding by taxpayers.
Tom Clark’s west block on Global is a much better show. I have stopped watching old Oliver shilling for the liberal Party on CTV’s question period.
Agreed.
