Brian Lilley’s coverage of Michael Ignatieff’s ‘sulphur’ remarks bodes well for great things to come with Sun TV:
Being leader of the federal opposition is perhaps the crappiest job in Canadian politics and this week Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff will take the media along on his cross-country tour just to show how awful the job can be. No one thinks you can win and no one takes you seriously until you do win, just ask Stephen Harper.
Ignatieff kicked off his summer tour in Calgary by touting the Liberal’s “positive message” and then compared Prime Minister Stephen Harper to the devil, “You know you smell the whiff of sulfur coming off the guy.” In literature, the whiff of sulfur is often used to describe the devil and someone as well read as Ignatieff should know to choose his words more carefully.
Then again, perhaps Ignatieff was just channeling Venezuela’s far-left president Hugo Chavez who used similar words to describe George W. Bush during a United Nations speech; I’ll have to ask the Liberal leader.
Yes, please ask him Brian! And do it in the presence of the rest of our gutless liberal MSM and then let’s see if they dare to report it.
So far, only *crickets*.
Christian Conservative has more.

Update
It might not be a bad idea to start keeping track of Iggy’s gaffes on the Liberal “Off-the-Cuff” Express.
Just from Shawn Logan’s Calgary Sun report alone there is a goldmine:
1. First of all there is the now infamous, “You know you smell the whiff of sulfur coming off the guy (Harper) — we know how right wing these guys really are.”
(So is he also saying that all Canadians on the right are like the devil?)
2. And Ignatieff took time to show off his Boulet cowboy boots to the crowd, saying, “These are the best cowboy boots in Canada and they’re made in Quebec.” – said in Calgary!!!
3. “I am much reproached for spending time outside of Canada — naughty me,” he said. “I don’t know what to do with my shame about that.” Well I do, but it isn’t fit for a family blog.
4. “Starting today we’re going to get on a bus and go to every province and territory between July and September, if it doesn’t kill me first. Please Iggy, try to curb your enthusiasm at the prospect of meeting The Canadians.

A little Marmalade to help Iggy choke down all those Double-Doubles - Voulez Boulet boots avec moi? Brilliant, Kate! (H/T Liz)
Iggy, you’re toast – Tasha Kheiriddin: Is that a whiff of sulfur coming from the Liberal bus?:
…Indeed, the malodorous comment reveals one of Mr. Ignatieff’s key weaknesses: Try as he might, he cannot put the whiff of elitism behind him. He can flip pancakes at the Calgary Stampede ’til the broncos go home, he can suck back the Tim’s ’til his eyes pop out of his head, but he still comes across as more latte than double-double…

Gutless is certainly one possibility. Clueless may be another — the sulpher/Satan connection may have eluded our liberal MSM. A liberal distinctive is to deny that Canada has a Christian heritage. Do the denial thing long enough and eventually you don’t have to fake it.
Yes, great column by Brian. He must follow it up though, make sure it gets air time. When the Leader of the Official Opposition stoops to channeling Hugo Chavez and applying it to our PM he’s got some ‘splainin’ to do. We have to demand it. Awe shucks, I was just kiddin’ around on the bus won’t suffice.
The left are filled with radicals who have no genuine interest in our democracy or traditions. The liberal media are upset that their narrative is no longer being trusted.
The media pushed the Fake Green Energy, Fake stories deriding Canada’s Federal Government, our military, the liberal media is trouble. Climategate exposed them and bloggers have become an irritant.
Large number of viewers have left print and tv for many reasons, they are NOT returning. De regulation should be supported to increase competition and choice for consumers.
Politics is not followed by the majority of Canadians and we got our dander up during the coalition of losers. The Liberal media have not regained their credibility since their coverage of fake rallies of the left for a coalition gov’t.
A new entry: Sun TV may add more viewers or drive the rating lower for the liberal media, Fox’s audience has nearly 30% Liberals.
2 weeks ago, the media got on board with all the Toronto crybabies and continued on and on and on.
This is said by Ignatieff and NOT a whisper. Several insulting and stupid things were said by Ignatieff and again from the central Canadian media, not a whisper.
I understand that they may have needed to come to the best blogs in Canada, frequented by intelligent Harper supporters to get the meaning of the Ignatieff insult but so it’s now out there, has been for 2 days and NOT A WHISPER.
That is what the real story is!! Disgusting comments about our Prime Minister from these trashy mouthed Liberals is the norm but Ignatieff INSULTED an entire PROVINCE as well as his beyond cruel and disgusting insult of the Canadian Prime Minister.
Joanne you are smokin hot today

Fh – Thanks for that.
As for the rebellion – I’ve already started cutting back out of sheer necessity. This stone has no more blood to give.
The LPOC stole from the nation refuse point blank to return the money instead they place the blame on Mulroney; they refuse to work with the prime minister during the recession. the list goes on and on and while all this was taking place, the ‘gutless useless pathetic media supported, stood by the liberals.
I smell the sulfur reeking out of the liberal party and their media as the devil roams within.
Ignatieff can’t help himself – its a “shoot the left foot” moment, instead of delivering a message on Liberal policy and showing the leader in a positive light, he takes the b/b out and aims at himself. Ho Hum, looking but not finding anything to vote for. Cheers.
I especially liked the part where Lilley mentions the lower then Stephane Dion poll numbers Iggy has and asks if he will “Crash and burn?” or “bloom under the pressure?”. Also when he talks about his “CHANGING” domestic policies….the waffle at work once again….lol
Love it. Ignatieff attends the world’s most famous cowboy city and promotes his own cowboy boots – made in Quebec!!!!
Then tells the citizens of a predominantly conservative province that they are sheep.
Then he confirms that going out and meeting “The Canadians” is a horrible awful thing that might even kill him.
Real Canadians would be overjoyed with the chance to cross this wonderful country meeting the wonderful citizens but to a foreigner like Ignatieff this is considered a terrible chore.
Then, after raising about $10,000 from Albertans for a mushy egg breakfast where pancake breakfasts are part of the culture province wide he leaves Alberta for a “personal day”.
That was “Day 1″ of his tour. Yikes.

“Jeff Jedras: The wheels on the Liberal bus go ’round and ’round”
“It’s just that it feels like we Liberals have been stuck in the same position for four years.
“Party slumping in the polls and lacking policy definition. Leader failing to connect with Canadians and needing to get comfortable in own skin. We know our challenges, we know what we need to do.
So there’s really nothing left for me to say. Either we’ll do it, or we won’t.”

“even if it kills me” ? A very curious thing to say, especially coming from someone who aspires to lead us “Canadians” I guess moving and living among us is some kind of a burden? Something to be endured Mr Ignatieff?
Mr Ignatieff has studiously avoided having any positive effect in his stint as leader of Her Majesties Loyal Opposition. He refused to put forward any ideas, policy suggestions regarding the recession. His attacks on our Loyal Troopers, smarmy suggestions of abuse, even war crimes was voiced about by his MP’s. Disgusting cowards all!PM Stephen Harper has still asked him for input, his silly antics after being asked for input re the GG speak for themselves, not a Leader, nor even a mature response.
He and his Coalition Stooges have been given a pass by the MSM for the most part. The media is still having a hissy over the g8/g20 silly protesters, they were focused on the few and still are promoting the stupids who are outraged at what? The highest best standard of living for ordinary people in recorded history. This has been brought about by peaceful cooperation between nations, they apparently don’t understand that and want to run things, vandalism all dressed up as anarchy. There is a reason they hide their faces beyond prosecution, it is shame.
Now we have all the horror stories, cheese buns, not enough Perrier! Canada ROCKED at G8/G20 we hear little about that from the MSM.
I say just dress the vandals up in hot heavy riot gear and pelt them with baggies full of fecal matter and urine. Without of course letting them retaliate.
Sorry about the OT tangent but it all just seem to be of one cloth. The pass given Mr Ignatieff for his asinine remarks regarding our duly elected PM, just keep being classy Mikey the Canadians may just start talkin’ to you about that. Beware an outraged populace Mr Ignatieff, your ancestors broke land speed records to immigrate, remember?
The one problem Mr Ignatieff, the Liberals and the MSM have is Blogs like this one, indeed the internet they can’t just write anything anymore, people have turned off the papers and who is Lloyd Robertson anyway? I don’t want or need a made up, news reader tellin’ me what kinda day it was. It’s Monday a beauty of a day, God Bless Canada our Brave Troops and us The Blog-a-sphere. Hurry on Kory-News.!

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is not the most popular leader but people want him on the job when Canada faces serious challenges, a new Angus Reid Public Opinion poll has found. …
Harper’s approval rating stands at 31 per cent, tied with NDP leader Jack Layton. …
Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff remains highly unpopular. Just 14 per cent of respondents approve of the way he is handling his duties, while a majority (53%) voice disapproval. …
When it comes to who would be best at representing the country at the next round of climate change talks, Harper (27%) and Layton (26%) are virtually tied. …”
I find that last item re: climate change especially interesting, because it means that Canadians have not been completely brainwashed by the constant calls of climate “crisis” by both Layton & May.

You’re exactly correct. Lilley’s framed this up very clearly. I don’t think we’ll ever be able to mistake the folks at Sun News with that of the MSM as we know it now.
I’d like to give a whole lot of credit to Lilley and his co-writers who we will be able to trust to get the word out when those others refuse to….like today’s article for example.
Interesting Gabby in Qc funny that PM Harper and MP Jack Layton are tied and yet people want PM Harper to keep on leading.
I think that people would not hand the keys to the family car to Mr Layton, they think he is OK but he has some dodgy ideas, friends. (coalition)
PM Harper on the other hand would bring the car back clean and shiny with a full tank of gas. He can be trusted. I dare say he is the kind of guy you would want knocking on your front door to take out your daughter. Jack would be in the driveway leanin’ on the horn.
Bubba – I have to wonder whether Layton’s so high because that’s where the Libs. are going who don’t support The Waffle?
SDA has a fun post on Iggy’s Boulet boots. He’s doing all the right things to make it easy to mock and laugh at him. He’s a cartoonist’s dream subject but where are they?
Iggy has no hope of gaining support in the West so he’s either out to insult or he’s simply not too swift. He can always count on the Atlantic provinces, he can charm them there with or without Boulet boots, their love of Liberals is genetic. Don’t trust Danny Whine either. He says he would never tell his people who to vote for but does the next best thing with the same result, he tells them who not to vote for and they listen.
SDA has a fun post on Iggy’s Boulet boots.
Hey thanks Liz! I’ll look forward to watching my stats go through the roof today. Heh.

I dearly wish that Charles Adler was aboard the “Murder on the Ignatieff Express” because I highly doubt that we will hear the true words and level of gaffes that are about to occur.
Dave Rutherford took some time this AM to dissect the media bias right here in Calgary. The GOOD NEWS speech from the PM was not reported in this country and that is clearly a problem that has gone off balance with Canadian national media.
Lazy and biased but controlling the message to Canadians is extremely dangerous.
Re: Ignatieff’s “…sulphur…” comment about the Prime Minister, Conservatives and/or any Canadian voters who do not buy the Liberal screed, hook, line and sinker.
In a deep hole almost level with Dion’s pit, the “progressive” pretender/contender unvokes religious imagery in a truly feeble attempt to deniugrate those who do not, have not and will not be voting for the doctrinaire left.

I can’t resist sharing this which I came across.
‘Olfactory hallucinations are a type of hallucination which involves the olfactory system. Patients who experience olfactory hallucinations think that they are smelling something when there is nothing in the environment producing the odor being experienced. They may be able to describe the smell in detail, and they can have reactions to the smell, such as gagging at the smell of feces or increased saliva production at the smell of chocolate chip cookies. Although phantosmia, as it is known to the medical community, may seem primarily like an interesting curiosity, it can actually be a sign that a patient has a severe medical problem, and people who smell things which don’t exist definitely need to see a doctor.”
http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-olfactory-hallucinations.htm
Iggy may be sicker than we think. LOL
Re: those pictures of the PM serving breakfast … I’ve said this before, and even told Tim Powers when he was on a local radio talk show, hoping he’d pass it on to the PM, that the PM should wear his glasses more often. Never mind the sweater to soften up his image with the image-obsessed crowd … the glasses give him a softer yet, dare I say, sexy look? IMO, of course.
======
And because I owe loyalty to Quebec … it is not exactly untilled land when it comes to cowboy culture, as some commenter at SDA stated. Of course it’s not Calgary, but St-Tite has what seems to be a respectable “western” festival:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qDhCcs8SeU&feature=related
As for Boulet Boots (apparently made in St-Tite http://www.bouletboots.com/index.php?page=46&MainCategoryID=1), I don’t know whether they are the best in Canada, since I’m a city girl, and don’t know anything about cowboy boots. But IMO it was inelegant of Ignatieff to make that claim in Calgary, since it left the field open to comparisons. And as the saying goes, “comparisons are odious.”
For someone who’s supposed to have a way with words and nuanced expression, given the number of books and articles he’s written, Ignatieff’s remarks on this bus tour are of the “ready, fire, aim” variety.
the PM should wear his glasses more often
I agree!
PM Harper should not wear red ties.

“As for Boulet Boots…….”
For Calgarians and Albertans in general Gabby, it really won’t have anything to do with the slight, it will have everything to do with his radar telling him there was a need to say it in the first place.
He’s a braggart, plain and simple and what he perceives as nation building (that’s how I interpreted his pathetic attempt) is nation and region dividing.
He insulted Albertans and Calgarians, with almost all of his utterances because for every compliment, he made a further insulting qualifying statement.
He is completely out of touch with the Canadian regions and a bus ride, WON”T give him the insight necessary to understand. It’s just something that needs to be lived and cannot be taught in a cross country tutorial.
Everybody o.k. out there in Alberta? I hear there are some bad storms right now.
Gloria Galloway:
We’ll take that. And things will only get better as the summer progresses.
Bec at 4:06: “… it will have everything to do with his radar telling him there was a need to say it in the first place.”
I agree. Completely out of place, as were other remarks he reportedly made, like this gem:
“I look out there and what I see is ‘big hat, no cattle’, that’s what I see. Not only no cattle, but quite a lot of sheep[.]”
What a way to persuade people to his side!
It’s not about Boulet boots, never heard of them, it’s the fact the wearer decided to announce they were made in Quebec and they were the best, right in the heart of Cowboy country. It’s one of his silly utterances, rather juvenile really, probably the first time he’s worn them, makes no sense from any angle for a politician whose out riding a bus across the country to gain support. It’s not about getting to know him, he’s had enough time for that.
On the bright side for Boulet boots, it might bump up their sales and they might donate to his campaign, if he lasts that long!
Joanne @ 4:18 pm
WOW!! Scary! My greenhouse has 3 shattered panes…what a mess and it’s circling back around!
Thanks for caring! Us gardeners have to stick together!
Gabby, you have to wonder who’s feeding Iggy his lines on his acting tour of the country? Statements like “big hat, no cattle” certainly didn’t come from his vocabulary, however, it does describe Iggy and his Liberal lot very well as they descended on Alberta with the ten gallon hats.
So, “Shamwow” Iggy is plugging a Quebec company while visiting a foreign land ? Better get the ethics commissioner on it !
Meanwhile, who is going to believe that Iggy is some kind of expert on cowboy boot manufacturers ?
I know that question wasn’t posed to me, Liz J but if you would forgive me for weighing in, I kinda think this is his problem to wear. I don’t know why but I just can’t believe that the WORDS are being written for him.
The basic text, yes. The theme, yes but the final presentation,no.
I seriously believe his personality and chronic need to talk and be heard, is what we are dealing with when it comes to that designer big BOOT in his mouth. His complete 34 year disconnect with this country is NOT teachable, he has to fake it and is failing miserably.
Unfortunately, he has far to many covering his butt and likely afraid to tell him the truth.
Bec- Stay safe. I’m hearing reports of funnel clouds.
So, “Shamwow” Iggy is plugging a Quebec company while visiting a foreign land ? Better get the ethics commissioner on it !
lol!!!
Well Bec, I wondered if the words are being written for him and he really isn’t clued in enough to analyze them carefully before delivering them. We know leaders have speech writers too but they know enough to read them over and decide if they’re appropriate and make necessary adjustments.
Also, Iggy isn’t really among friends, many in his party would love him to self destruct on this tour, he’s off to a strong start in that regard!
This tweet from Kory sounds intriguing…
Just watched Jason Kenney on P&P. Our government will not cede to the Supreme Court on little Omie Kadhr, poster boy of the Left, we will appeal.

“Also, Iggy isn’t really among friends, many in his party would love him to self destruct on this tour, he’s off to a strong start in that regard!”
So true!
Who would it be that would be writing this stuff? It’s so bizarre isn’t it?
I just know that my really, really left wing Nephew went to one of his University stops back in the winter, expecting to fall in love and left thinking the guy is an idiot.
He described off the cuff comments just like these and concluded that “he (Iggy) knows a little bit about some things but not a lot about most”.
When confronted, he (Iggy) became rather condescending and moved on to another question and would not continue the discussion.
I wonder if Iggy gets into a group of 150 supporters, as he did this past weekend and forgets he is not JUST talking to 150 supporters but an entire city and province.
It’s so weird.
Bec, I think Iggy is in professorial musing mode, aside from the quips he’s being fed on his summer swing on the bus. He’s ill prepared for political leadership let alone leading the country as PM and this tour will expose this fact.
The guy was fast tracked to his present post and he’s proving he’s really not a quick study, needs more time on the banjo and the Liberals are not that patient. For Liberals it’s not about whether they’re fit to govern, it’s about THEM having power at all costs, to hell with what’s best for Canada at this time.
Liz J at 4:33 pm & at 4:39 pm, I don’t know whether Ignatieff’s lines are the work of a ghost writer or whether he’s being “spontaneous” — his remarks were definitely inappropriate.
I hope the Boulet Boots Co. does benefit with higher sales, as you suggest, but it cannot contribute to Ignatieff’s campaign, I believe. Aren’t corporate donations verboten?
I would NOT worry about a rapidly aging Yorkville comsopolitan becoming the spokesperson for cowboy boots.
It is almost as sad as watching those commercials of old men giving up their hobby as soon as they start taking Viagra.
Richco,@ 12:24 I think Jack layton is having a pretty rough time health wise. Canadians do care, whether we share his views on what is important for this Country.
As far as actual votes on the day, hasen’t happened yet, I don’t think it will either.
A lot of people will remember his advice to our duly elected PM to go quietly when the three amigos cooked up their coup.
Having said all that I do wish him well he does have a strong voice for his beliefs.
The more I read the biographical sketch of our Governor General to be, the more I must say I like the cut of this fellow’s jib.
Why just look at this resume:
* Respected author.
* World-class academic.
* Connections to Ivy League institutions in the United States and England.
* Hosted a show on public television.
* Distinguished eyebrows.
Why, this fellow sounds like the perfect choice for Governor-General to me!
But wait a minute. Doesn’t Michael Ignatieff already have a job?
P.S. Thank-you to Stephen Harper for keeping the CBC GG connection alive. That’s three in a row!
Think of the photo op missed by hugo Ignatieff in Calgary. Trying on and buying a pair of Calgary made boots.
I wonder if his message was, these boots are made for walking and I’m gonna walk all over you Albertans.
I can’t wait for other goofs on his Clueless on the Bus tour.
And who, other than teachers and union members need personal days after a couple of days on the job.
Quite the discussion going on re the budget bill. So, did hugo Ignatieff tell his senators to vote against the bill he ordered his MPs to miss voting on.
I think this will really focus attention on the need for Senate reform.
Liberals can’t have it both ways. But, wait till the bus tour is over and all their money spent, then go to an election.
Oh, by the way, we do have sheep farms in Alberta, but when did the count visit them to see the sheep.
Having grown up in cattle country and wearing ‘cowboy boots and hats’ for as long as I can remember the Boulet boots were yer Sunday Gone ta Meetin’ boots while yer workin’ boots were much more sturdily built and usually didn’t have all the fancy embroidery on them. Wearing your Sunday Gone ta Meetin’ boots onto a stranger’s ranch was likely to get you laughed at as a dude or run off ’cause you were a landman.
The same with the Biltmore/Stetson “Steppin’ Out” hat vs the ole work hat that kept the sun and the rain off your head. Wear a fancy hat on a stranger’s ranch and it was assumed you were all hat and no cattle. In other words you had no business being there. I never did like my “Steppin’ Out hats. By the time I got them broken in enough to be comfortable they were too worn to be fancy!
Voulez Boots Avec Moi? Or if the boot fits,

Now what’s right is right but I ain’t been right yet
these boots are made for squawkin’, and that’s just what I’ll do

Speaking of cowboys: What do you call a Biltmore Hat settin’ on a pair of Boulet Boots?
A Liberal with the (cough) ‘stuffing’ kicked out of him for trying to fool an Albertan into voting Liberal.
Joe @ 7:08 and 7:40 pm
Hysterical! Boy-o-boy did you ever sum that up beautifully! It brought back some fond realities of times in the real ranch and farming world of Alberta and rural Canada.
The irony? Mrs Harper likely knows about these gaffes and is having a good chuckle for the exact reasons that you have so humorously clarified.
Thanks for a great giggle!

Thanks Sammy!
…DeKount, on CBCTV this am, as well.
Thanks TJ.
So Sammy, is he saying it was a ‘joke’? Ha. Ha.
Bam! Marci on CanAM hits Iggy right off the bat, with question about the ‘sulphur’ comment..Iggy says it’s just a joke. What is up with Iggy wearing the plaid shirt..trying to look like Regular Joe? Anyone notice how Iggy fumbles around and has trouble answering even simple questions? That was an absolute pathetic performance.
Well, the “whiff of sulphur” finally hit a front page, today’s National Post. There will be no apology according to his press secretary, so we can look forward to further reports on his slag the PM and insult as many people as possible tour. Should be fun watching this loose cannon in cowboy boots self destruct.
Ha Ha..yup Jo,the Igster says it’s just a joke,so forget about it kids! Hmmm, and hot on heels of Iggy on CanAM,Castro! CBC has the Ig up next
Ah shucks, Iggy was just joking around, didn’t really mean it, right. Funny, very funny how the mind of an academic processes thoughts as compared to the great unwashed. Sorry buster, you compared the PM with Satan in your thought process, you are not doing stand-up comedy.
I’d imagine the Canadian people of all political stripes will consider very carefully before they support someone who channels Hugo Chavez.

“Chavez Government Seizes 120 Tons of Food from Venezuela’s Largest Company (VIDEO)
Venezuela’s National Guard seized roughly 120 tons of merchandise Thursday from the country’s largest food company, the guard’s commander said.
The “preventive confiscation” came after authorities say they detected inconsistencies in reports from the Empresas Polar conglomerate about the content of several warehouses in the western city of Barquisimeto, Gen. Luis Bohorquez Soto told state television.
He said the guard seized more than 91 tons of wheat flower, 12 tons of butter, five tons of rice and more than 5,000 liters (1,320 gallons) of cooking oil, among other products.
The operation was part of President Hugo Chavez’s efforts “to protect the Venezuelan family” and avoid the phenomenon of empty shelves at grocery stores, the general said.”

Idiot Iggy loves Idiot Hugo.
It’s on the internet.
>>> “The most notable example today of the symbiosis between certain Western intellectuals and Latin American caudillos is the love affair between American and European Idiots and Hugo Chávez.”

“The Return of the Idiot
Álvaro Vargas Llosa
Throughout the 20th century, Latin America’s populist leaders waved Marxist banners, railed against foreign imperialists, and promised to deliver their people from poverty. One after another, their ideologically driven policies proved to be sluggish and shortsighted.
Their failures led to a temporary retreat of the strongman. But now, a new generation of self-styled revolutionaries is trying to revive the misguided methods of their predecessors.
Ten years ago, Colombian writer Plinio Apuleyo Mendoza, Cuban writer Carlos Alberto Montaner, and I wrote Guide to the Perfect Latin American Idiot, a book criticizing opinion and political leaders who clung to ill-conceived political myths despite evidence to the contrary. The “Idiot” species, we suggested, bore responsibility for Latin America’s underdevelopment. Its beliefs—revolution, economic nationalism, hatred of the United States, faith in the government as an agent of social justice, a passion for strongman rule over the rule of law—derived, in our opinion, from an inferiority complex. In the late 1990s, it seemed as if the Idiot were finally retreating. But the retreat was short lived. Today, the species is back in force in the form of populist heads of state who are reenacting the failed policies of the past, opinion leaders from around the world who are lending new credence to them, and supporters who are giving new life to ideas that seemed extinct.
Because of the inexorable passing of time, today’s young Latin American Idiots prefer Shakira’s pop ballads to Pérez Prado’s mambos and no longer sing leftist anthems like “The Internationale” or “Until Always Comandante.” But they are still descendants of rural migrants, middle class, and deeply resentful of the frivolous lives of the wealthy displayed in the glossy magazines they discreetly leaf through on street corners.”

So the fawning CBC didn’t have the guts to ask Iggy about the sulphur remarks. Figures.
New post up BTW.
OMG! Iggy looks even worse on cbc! Says Canadians ‘want to see alternative to Harper Gov’t’..warns us ‘he’s rarin to go’..stupid cbc host tells us the Libs are ‘just behind the Cons’..Iggy: I’ve fought 2 Fed elections..fought them door to door.’ Anne-Marie reminds Iggy he ain’t Mr.Popularity..Iggy blathers about how he thinks Canadians see him..the great thing is the courtesy and respect shown to me,when I’m taking my shoes off to go thru airport security..blah blah..and he takes his burger with ‘mostly mustard..no ketchup’..so,fire those grills up kids, get out the Diijon and wait for the Sulphur-Sniffin’ Snafu-Ridden Slapstick Comedy Tour of 2010.Makes me want to take my summer holidays now,and follow this circus around the country!Anybody up for that?
When Ignatieff’s press secretary can defend his outrageous statements, he must be writing the material for his comedy road show. It’s a real hoot so far.
Is it a case of ‘we might as well laugh as cry’ for the LPC and it’s leader? If that’s the case, they’re the only one’s laughing and the last ones who should be, given the mess they’re in.
Sammy – Good summary of the CBC interview. I thought she threw him too many softballs and let him get away with the ‘how Canadians see him’ blather.
Respect and courtesy, Iggy? That’s because we’re The Canadians!!!
But it’s what people say about you behind your back that really counts, Count.
The foregoing is brilliant. Especially Sammy. Triggered a neuron or two in my head. ‘Twas inspirational Sammy!
Visualize the old evolution cartoon:
from primordial slime to upright sentient homo-sapien.
Now visualize this evolutionary imagery:
a family tree of the famous Canadians, the powerful, vicious and ferocious Russian nobility – all the mighty ancestors of the Mighty Mike hisself. With the end product being mighty Mike hisself as Super Sulpher Snifferman.
Had a dog like that once. Had to keep a rolled up bit of newsprint to give the dog a swat on the nose once in a while if he got his nose into too many of the wrong sites.
A future in Canada for Mikey. Offishul Sulpher-Sniffer.
Just in case HahVuhd doesn’t want him back, now that they’ve seen just exactly what kind of a Dork he truly is.

Iggy has denied that he was quoting Chavez with his sulphur remark. Being an historian, and assuming The Canadians he was talking to would not know about this author, he quoted him.
The World Socialists’ website proclaims an age of rage ahead – and chillingly quotes British historian Simon Schama: “You can smell the sulphur in the air.”
If it was Schama he was quoting it is another example of his elitism.
“Are we there yet”? I don’t think you can see there from here Mr Ignatieff.
I am still bothered that a wanna be third string anointed, Professor thinks that putting on a plaid shirt, drugstore cowboy outfit, can stand up on his hind feet, in Alberta. Proclaim that supporters of our duly elected PM are “Sheep” and make it out of town without someone taking him up on it.
He needs his skinny, elitist ass kicked, rhetorically of course.
Where is the outrage? I know Canadians are famed for their civility and politeness. This politician who is IMO a Closet Conservative, he always supports PM Stephen Harpers sensible Policies. Thanks by the way Mr Ignatieff for telling enough of your Senators to stay home so our Budget was passed.
Anyway if he manages to get a bus that runs, comes to your town, ask him to explain himself about the sheep remark. We deserve no less.
While you have him mumbling ask him why his party is so concerned about how Afghan prisoners are treated by their own people, with no concern for our brave troops.
We don’t have to be concerned about how they treat our troops that become their prisoners, they don’t take prisoners.
Nano-thermite or “super thermite” is classed as an explosive.
A mixture of thermite and SULFUR produces thermate which lowers the melting point of the iron it contacts when reacting by forming a eutectic system.
This is useful in cutting through steel.

Mmmm Could be a metaphor there. Thanks.
