But can we wish away Al Gore?

There is no shortage of point-by-point criticisms of Al Gore’s New York Times Op-ed, We Can’t Wish Away Climate Change.

My first thought after reading his steaming pile of rhetoric was why did he set himself up for the inevitable drudging?   Or does he actually believe that we’re that stupid?

And how is it that the alarmists can continue to hold him up as some kind of prophet and still keep a straight face while they warn us all of impending doom?

Anyway, here are some of the better fisks that I’ve come across. If you find more please let share them in comments. Thanks.

Some enterprising American lawyer is going to realize that there’s a great opportunity for a class action suit against Gore for what he has cost every American. Even if you assume his idiocy has only cost Americans $10 each, that’s a $3 billion dollar suit – and then he would have to defend his lies in court with rules of evidence. I think it would be hilarious o watch :-)

  2. Joanne says:

I think the whole world should launch a class action suit against him.

Politican = “weather” = “climate change” = “global warming” = AGW Fraud.

AGW Fraud + Campbell = Our Enemy, the State.

Notice the use of the AGW Trinity words: “climate change” + “weather” + “global warming”.

All are plastic/elastic words which are not defined.

They are meant as “scare words” to instill fear/anxiety which can only be alleviated by increased State intervention/taxation.

    Campbell is a fraud.

“Campbell blames climate change for ‘Spring Games’

The record-breaking warm weather that made a soggy mess of Cypress Mountain, forcing Olympic organizers to truck snow to the slopes, was caused by climate change, B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell says.

And witnessing the “Spring Olympics” has convinced Mr. Campbell he must accelerate his campaign against global warming.

This week, the Premier will face a renewed assault on his controversial carbon tax, as business leaders use today’s provincial budget to decry the competitiveness gap arising from the province’s levy on fossil fuels.

“I think people are not looking at the big picture. We just had the warmest winter in over 100 years in Vancouver,” Mr. Campbell said in an interview with The Globe and Mail.”

Campbell’s just another idiot Liberal in the Paul Martin camp, anyone who still believes that the BC Liberals are not like their provincial and federal counterparts are sadly mistaken.

Tax and spend, lie, cheat and steal.

What was Campbell’s role in the sale of BC Rail, which he promised not to sell in the previous election?

The most recent election he promised not to bring in the HST.

It’s time for a new political force in BC, unfortunately we only have the center left Liberals and the further left NDP, oh and the Greens, but who cares about those nut bars.

  8. Bruce says:

Cashing in on climate change – the carbon offset scam

Who would pay $25 for something when other people would only pay 14 cents? Why, the government of course!

As Vancouver Sun reporter Scott Simpson wrote, the B.C. government is forcing its ministries, agencies, as well as schools and hospitals, to pay for the amount of carbon they emit. This is part of Gordon Campbell’s plan to have a carbon neutral public sector by 2011 – all to battle global warming. But when even the BBC starts pointing out we haven’t had any global warming since 1998 while carbon dioxide levels continue to rise, we know the tide has turned on the global warming hysteria.

Businesses still have time to cash in, and they are. The government will send tax dollars to businesses and industries if they lower their carbon emissions, and to companies set up specifically to absorb those funds. The government created a new Crown Corporation to tax tax dollars and redistribute them to businesses. It’s called the Pacific Carbon Trust.

How does this work? Schools and hospitals pay $25 dollars per tonne of carbon they emit to the Pacific Carbon Trust, then the Pacific Carbon Trust sends that money to groups that have lowered their emissions. The Trust has not disclosed how much it pays to companies for each tonne of reduced emissions. We can only hope it is not more than $25 per tonne.

    http://communities.canada.com/vancouversun/blogs/communityofinterest/archive/2009/10/26/cashing-in-on-climate-change-the-carbon-offset-scam.aspx

And how can we find out which groups and companies are benefiting at the expense of taxpayers, costing core services budgets millions of dollars, costing us cuts to health, education and social services?

We can’t, the BC Government will not release that information.

Do they have something to hide?

You betcha, they are Liberals after all.

“Canada’s prospects outshine realities challenging U.S.

A smaller deficit leaves Canada in a better position to take advantage of the rebound in the global economy

“The biggest reason is that Canada’s finances are so much stronger. The federal deficit, while a record in nominal terms, is about 4 per cent of GDP. The difference with the U.S. and other industrial countries has captured the attention of international investors, who bought a record amount of Canadian bonds in 2009.

Demand of that kind is lowering federal and provincial governments’ borrowing costs, suggesting Canadian taxpayers won’t be facing the degree of tax increases or spending cuts coming the way of their American cousins. That leaves Canada in a better position to take advantage of the rebound in the global economy: While the U.S. and other countries will be paying off their debts, Canada will be relatively free to take advantage of the upturn.”

That combined with her attempt to sidestep a mandatory leadership review in her own party of her own leadership is rich! Makes me wonder if Liz has any sense of irony whatsoever. I left Manitoba for that very reason. We desperately need a 3rd viable alternative. We need to get some expertise from Danielle Smith and the Wildrose party.
No I am not saying that far right of the spectrum, but look at the support they have brought together so quickly.
The centre right needs a strong, high profile leader that can pull things together. I can’t think of anyone off hand but last elections collect of candidates was poorly funded and very green.
There is huge opportunity to just awaiting to be hand as both parties in power have so much material that can be used against them.
Face it, Campbell is very aware of this and quite arrogant because of it.
BC Rail, Carbon tax, HST, bigger government are to name a few of the goodies that can be used against him. Do you realize that the money that has been paid out to BC Rail executives who have no rail to run of over the past 5 years would have covered the budget short fall in education or health this year. “The Flu Season That Fizzled–Cases of H1N1 Have Dwindled, Seasonal Flu Has Been a No-Show…

This has been a flu season like few others.

Normally at this time of year, influenza is rampant in the U.S., prompting hundreds of thousands of people to stay home in the dead of winter with fever, aches and pains.

Now, after raging through college campuses and communities last summer and fall, cases of the new H1N1 swine flu virus have dwindled to a trickle, and run-of-the-mill seasonal flu has barely made an appearance. Not one state reported widespread flu illness to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the week ended Feb. 20, the latest data available. The percentage of all doctors’ visits by patients with influenza-like symptoms has dropped from a high of 7.8% in late October—the largest peak since the agency began surveillance in 1997—to 1.8% in late February, well below the norm for flu season.

Doctors and flu experts say the lull is unusual. “This is typically the peak of flu,” said James Turner, executive director of the University of Virginia’s department of student health. He said the Charlottesville, Va., student health center usually sees as many as 130 students a week complaining of flu symptoms this time of year. Recently, no more than three to five students a week have been coming in with fever, cough or other signs of flu, he said.

It is not clear why there is so little flu, particularly swine flu, going around, experts say. “Surely there’s a sufficient number of people who haven’t been infected or vaccinated,” said Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota.

Many scientists say the answer probably has to do with how the flu virus progresses. Influenza comes and goes in waves, normally running from October through May…

MATANE, Que. – Nancy Charest, a Liberal candidate from Quebec, has suggested that Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff does not have the ability to push for what is in the best interest of Quebecers.

Charest, the party’s candidate for the riding of Mitis/Matane/Matapedia in eastern Quebec, made the comments during a cocktail reception for the Liberal Party on Feb. 18 in Matane, Que.

The event was held to bid farewell to former Liberal lieutenant Denis Coderre, who resigned after a dispute with Ignatieff.

“I believe Mr. Ignatieff understands our realities but he doesn’t have the ability to give Quebec what it wants,” Charest said during a speech.

Charest didn’t hide her admiration for Coderre, who represents the Quebec riding of Bourassa.

“A person who allowed me to stay the course is Denis Coderre because of his authenticity and perseverance with these issues,” she said. “He’s my favourite!”

Asked about the state of his relationship with the Liberal leader, Coderre joked that the two likely wouldn’t be heading off on a weekend getaway together anytime soon.”

With drums beating, Raise a Little Hell playing on a loudspeaker, and the support of numerous politicians from all levels of government, more than 1,000 people sent a message to Premier Dalton McGuinty.

“It’s not fair, we want clean air,” chanted the crowd, consisting mainly of residents of Oakville, Mississauga, Halton and King Township, many of them school-aged kids who were bused to the rally.

The protest was organized by Citizens for Clean Air, a coalition that claims such natural gas power plants are “not safe.”

Pointing to “an explosion” that occurred Feb.7 at a Connecticut plant, killing five people, they urged the province to rethink plans for the proposed power plants.

Thirteen schools are located within what the protesters called “the explosion zone” surrounding the planned Oakville plant. And one school is just 300 metres away.
