Angelo Persichilli is obviously as confused as I am about what Michael Ignatieff actually means when he pontificates that Canadians don’t want an election but rather an ‘alternative’ (H/T NNW):
…It took him I don’t know how many university degrees and three years in Parliament to understand the first rule of politics: you don’t call an election if you have nothing to tell voters.
He now no longer talks about an election but rather about an “alternative.” I hope that by March we can understand what he’s talking about. An “alternative” can materialize through a new coalition or an election. Having excluded the coalition in December 2008 and an election in December 2009, I hope Ignatieff doesn’t expect Harper to go to the Governor General, resign, and ask Michaëlle Jean to appoint Ignatieff as his replacement…
Well considering the pervasive attitude of entitlement in the Liberal party, it wouldn’t totally surprise me.
Or could he possibly mean that he will be offering ‘an alternative’ to himself? Let’s hope not.

I was just about to post on this column and bam! there you have it!
That iggy is a slow learner when it comes to vision, amen to that but he’s a slow learner on the political front as well. He’s really still locked in professorial mode, droning out the musings but never having to choose from the options. He seems to be waiting for direction and there’s none to be had, their larder for smart ideas and vision is reduced to Mother Hubbard capacity.
We’ll see if the great mind of Donolo will reinvent, revitalize, restock the empty shelves during this prorogation period.
Always look on the bright side, things could be worse, Iffy could be a PM along with O leading the US into socialism.
With a new budget due Mar 3, I hope all money for carbon whatever is cancelled as global warming has been stopped. See Hunter’s post today.
IMO, Michael Ignatieff has not inherited the mantle of “the gift that keeps on giving” but seems to have embraced it with both arms.
Sorry: should read…
IMO, Michael Ignatieff has not only inherited the mantle of “the gift that keeps on giving” but seems to have embraced it with both arms.
QP today is reviewing the journos predictions at end of last yr..nice non-partisan panel…Travesty,Weston,Fife, and Galloway. This should be a Lib love-in,but I do hope they are a wee bit non-partisan and discuss what a failure the annointing of Iggy was!Oh..there now is the pre-requisite ‘poor Omar Khadr’ clip..this must be to appease Travesty and the Torstar crowd.
Worst political move of yr:
Fife:failure of PMSH on the global warming crap..blames PMSH for possibly creating another national unity crisis
Weston: the Colvin attack/detainees
Galloway:YOU GO GIRL!!!! Iggy’s asinine ‘you’re time is up’ threat
Traverse: WTF?????? His is the Libs decision to put the Gov’t ‘on probation!’
Hmmmm this could be not too bad after all!
Craig agrees that Iggy chose hubris over humility..and all downhill for Libs after that
Fife agrees with Craig that this was worst move of the yr!But,sticking with the ‘unity crisis’ as potential for disaster.
Good luck to Ignatieff with providing an “alternative” to the Conservatives without an election.
Should we suppose he means an alternative to himself, say, someone named Bob?
Of course it took Ignatieff a few years to come up to speed on politics. He’s spent most of his life in a monastery.
Elect Ignatieff and you’ll find him just as slow and behind the times on almost every other issue that didn’t cross his radar screen in the hallowed halls of academia.
The thought of the Imperial Iggy in a crisis makes me shudder. What if the Country needed a quick decision based on knowledge and experience, and had to wait three years for Ignatieff to see the light?
Go back to academia where you belong,Mr.Ignatieff,Canada doesn’t need or want you as PM. You’re a dabbler,a dilletante, and an uncharismatic one to boot. Go back to Harvard where you can describe your experiences among Canada’s great unwashed to your fellow intellectuals, and leave the running of this Country to your betters.
Question Period with Jane Taber and Craig Oliver ‘s panel to critique government. Gloria Galloway whose husband works for the Liberal Party, James Traverse, Greg Weston and Robert Fife. All lefty’s as usual, this should be a hoot!
Now on CTV’s QP with Giggles and Ollie all the sages, experts on all things political, Travers, Weston et al from the MSM, PPG etc are giving their in-the-know take on the politics of the nation. It’s amazing we’ve survived as a nation since their Librano buddies got turfed from power. What’s really getting their ire is just how well the PM has handled matters and even Weston, who’s been in a permanent snit since he wasn’t invited to a Sussex Drive party, has admitted Mr Harper has a good year.
…has HAD a good year.
If you are looking for alternatives, might I ask the question; what about Bob?
I find it interesting that Persichilli has picked up on that string of words and has zeroed in on “alternative”.
This in a nutshell is the mess we now know as, Michael Ignatieff. Was it intentional? Was it a verbalization of his “thinking thoughts”? Was it a momentary grasping for just the right word?
A politician, let alone a wanna-be leader, MUST provide a sense of strength and reassurance, that they know what they mean and they mean what they say.
Ignatieff, is the worst and most challenging person this country has ever had to interpret. Much like those many puzzles that are scattered on Canadian tables after the holidays, begging to be reassembled but all in good time and not at all if they become dull and boring.
He I surmise, is the latter.
Good Lord! Travesty predicting big problems for PMSH during Olympics..says GlobalwarmingWackadoodle protestors could become Canada’s ‘Tibet’ like at the Bejiing Olympics.
Nice of Bobby Fife to slip in a slam in his praise for PMSH’s trip to China..said a good move, but PM ‘had to eat crow!’
I guess all those panelists on QP have been naughty, and not nice, as not one of them will be appointed to the Senate, later today.
Do you think any of them could survive a PMSH majority, or would the all have a stroke on TV during the coverage of the coming event.
The best thing true lib believers could/should do is vote for PMSH so their beloved party can start over and get its act together. What is that they say about Tough Love.
But, until the libs admit they have a problem, nothing will change.
So the final predictions for 2010 as I recall are Bob Fife saying no election once again, Weston & Galloway on the fence and Travers and Oliver leaning towards a fall election, much the same as last year’s predictions.
And I’m pretty sure Bobby Fife is wrong that Owliver will be named the next GG. Heh.
Read ChuckerCanuck’s latest post..it’s a good one:Going Pro-Rogue
Sammy, I just finished reading it. He’s a clever lad.
Of way more importance today..lest we forget..is the repatriation of our fallen heroes.Folks,as painful as it will be to watch,we need to pay our respects, even tho at a distance via tv.Both ctv/cbc are going to carry it all live..I just hope and pray, the media won’t have some idiot on there commenting in a disrespectful and negative way.If ctv has Drapeau on again, cbc will get my time.Cbc just announced that GG,Peter McKay,and Walt Natynchuk will all be there.I hope they also give good coverage of the Highway of Heroes,as I find that to be so moving, and it shows the best of who we are as Canadians.
Given the leanings of the panel I thought it was fair speculation AND leaning more towards NOT having an election than having one.
In bowing to Fife all of the others pretty much admitted they had no clue.
What I gathered from the predictions is that the PM’s doing very well and if he continues the slow, steady and confident leadership no election will be necessary.
As I read somewhere yesterday, Harper loves to govern and will not throw the gov’t into an unnecessary election just as the economy rebounds.
I also got from Galloway that she’s going to keep the environmental issue front and centre, just as Traverse is going to fill the doom and gloom void among all of the good news for the PM.
As we move into what is going to be several months when the world is going to be watching Canada, let’s hope that we put as much effort and Sunday morning coffee into how great it’s going to be to host the world, not once, not twice but three times what with the Olympics, G7 & G20 but the Queen’s visit too.
There will not be an election period. I agree with Fife. Again it’s because of Ontario’s municipal elections which are earlier than normal this year.
Remember folks bad news sells papers and attracts viewership. I’ll be tuning in to the USA networks for the Olympics because I sure can’t stomach that crew following our athletes or doing them justice.
O/T but this piece of crap masquerading as journalism has to be addressed, courtesy of Delacourt.
http://thestar.blogs.com/politics/2010/01/senate-appointments-today.html
“When he does name the five new Conservative senators, Harper will have more appointees sitting in the red chamber than Chretien appointees. That’s right. There will be 33 appointed senators from Harper; 32 from Jean Chretien.
From this, most readers would infer that in the course of his 10 years or so, Jean Chretien appointed a mere 32 senators, while in little over a year, PM Harper has led 33 to the trough. Not quite so.
Commenting on Delacourt’s blog, jojo banana (love that name !) reports that Chretien actually appointed 75, which seems a bit high to me, and I cannot substantiate that number.
Anyway, CBC News comes up with 54 appointments, including 11 either shortly before or just after Chretien announced his retirement.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/chretien/senate_apptments.html.
PM Harper apparently still has a ways to go.
Kudos to Angelo Persichilli for picking up on the “alternative” word. Where are the rest of the media? Why aren’t they tracking Iffy down and demanding what he means by “alternative?”
Where are the gum shoe, roving, investigative journalists these days? Do they even exist anymore?
To me most of the media are just lazy and incompetent.
Angelo, track Iffy down, and demand that he answers that question.
Of way more importance today..lest we forget..is the repatriation of our fallen heroes.
Yes indeed. Thanks Sammy. Do you have any idea what time that will be?
Ah, I found a link. The plane should arrive around 2.
Thanks for the heads up re QP, I have to wait another 5 1/2 hours for it to come on in my area.
Re the Olympic protesters (terrorists practicing), put them in jail till Mar 5th. No bail, no special diets, no court appearance. If they can put in useless rules for flying to protect us, why not get these idiots off the street. And should they climb any more roofs, leave them there or charge them for getting them down.
I’m telling ya!
Another coup attempt is being worked on right this very minute.
The Toronto Corporate Welfare snakes who own the Liberal Party are in discussions with both the Government Union rats who own the NDP and the Canadian Hate Mongering Marxist’s who are the Bloc Quackbecois and last but not least, the Journalinista National Liberation Front are also fully involved in these diabolic conniverances.
They want to carve us up real good. They want to mess with us till they’re done !
They’re the ones who also want to mess with democracy until it’s done too!
Meanwhile, back at Macleans Magazine, that CBC “Made for TV” conservative named Andrew Coyne is having a hissy fit over the proroguing of Parliament. If it was to happen, he would be as silent about it as he is about the mass murder of Canadians by the Toronto media’s beloved “Detainee’s”.
Blame Crash, I love that name you coyned for Andrew!
If one googles Senate Retirement, Canada, you will get a list of who appointed them and when. What does Delecourt want, to have all those vacancies left vacant till libs get back at the trough. And to think all those journalists have kissed you know what for years, waiting for their appointments.
I hope most of the ones PMSH names are in their 40s, giving them 35 yrs of majority.
If the PM gets a majority, there are about 20 Senate retirements coming before 2014. One more in May, 2010, and a few before Dec 2011. There are still a few there appointed by PET. And, shock, Martin appointed Elaine McCoy, a conservative from AB.
Robert Fife predicting Craig Oliver the next GG and Craig not laughing out loud!!! Very bizarre and scary ending to the predictions of 2010 on CTV’s Question Period.
Repatriation coverage about to start on cbc.
OT, but in 1988 they had flying eddie, (saw him)
Then we had the bobsled team
This year there is a guy from India entered in the Luge.
Travers/Travesty predicting problems for the PM during the Olympics isn’t surprising. He knows full well the PM and his Ministers will make appearances giving them publicity he and his Liberals will be jealous of. However, with Lizzie May resident in that part of the country and with nothing much to do to get attention, I wouldn’t count her out to get involved with some rah-rah Enviro/GW demos. Even Suzuki wouldn’t have to peddle too far to take part. Never count any of them out, they’re in desperation mode after Copenhagen.
“Re the Olympic protesters (terrorists practicing), put them in jail till Mar 5th.”
Yes, oh yes! I have just been told on the QT that DOZENS of homeless from Vancouver, have been brought to CALGARY (on the taxpayers dime) so as to avoid an unpleasant appearance in Vancouver.
I have no problem with assisting the homeless but I do have a problem that our medical resources are now stretched and tax payers dollars are being used in my province. If that is the case then I demand that equal attention be paid to radical demonstrators. Indeed, THROW THEM IN JAIL!
Having Jim Travers comment on anything to do with the Conservative government, renders QP useless in my book. I mean come on, the guy is a Harper Hater on a epic scale.
Also listening to the bobble heads talk about how the enviroment is going to hurt Harper just shows how out of touch they are with average Canadians.
Good and entertaining post by Chucker, right on.
Carlyn Bennett made an ass of herself then went into hiding. She had such concern about toxic material in sex toys but not enough to prevent her from going into hiding, appears she can wait until March.
The failure of the brainwashed robot of radical Islam to blow up his knickers may have been a Christmas miracle, it saved the lives of all those on that plane and dampened down the steam the Idiot Leftists had going over the Taliban terrorists in detention.
Well…that’s it for ctv coverage for me..Drapeau on,with the Dad of a fallen soldier (who SUPPORTS the mission)..and that braindead Jaqueline Milczarek..instead of focusing on the arriving heroes..is hounding Drapeau to comment on the prorogation!UN-FRIKKIN-BELIEVABLE..nice ctv.. to try and politicize this. Now she is hounding the Dad to comment on this, and God Bless him,he says it is NOT a concern to him. What a classless piece of trash she is.
Sammy, I saw that too. Unbelievably obtuse of her.
And that Drapeau is a real piece of work, isn’t he?

“Climategate: Michael Mann’s very unhappy New Year
As I said yesterday, one of our jobs this year is to wipe the complacent smiles off the smug faces of the lobbyists, “experts”, “scientists”, politicians and activists pushing AGW.
This is why I am so glad to report that Michael Mann – creator of the incredible Hockey Stick curve and one of the scientists most heavily implicated in the Climategate scandal – is about to get a very nasty shock. When he turns up to work on Monday, he’ll find that all 27 of his colleagues at the Earth System Science Center at Penn State University have received a rather tempting email inviting them to blow the whistle on anyone they know who may have been fraudulently misusing federal grant funds for climate research.
Under US law, regardless of whether or not a prosecution results, the whistleblower stands to make very large sums of money: it is based on a percentage of the total government funds which have been misused, in this case perhaps as much as $50 million. (Hat tip: John O’Sullivan of the wonderful new campaigning site http://www.climategate.com)
Here’s that email in full:
Hi,
Greetings and best wishes for a prosperous New Year.
National Search
After the recent whistleblower revelations of emails between climate researchers and data from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, there are on-going investigations into potential fraudulent use of grant funds in Climate Research in the US. I am assisting interested parties who may have details of fraud in climate research to make contact with the proper authorities, and to share in the rewards paid when the funds are recovered.
Whistleblower Rewards Program
The federal government has established vigorous programs to identify and prosecute fraudulent grant applications and administration. The US Department of Justice (DOJ) administers the False Claims Act. It allows rewards for those who come forward with details of grant fraud to share in the recovery of federal funds. This reward can be as much as 30% of the total amount reclaimed. The program is almost completely reliant on insiders to report their knowledge of the fraud in their institutions.”

What the hell is wrong with these moronic ‘commenters’ and their total lack of class? That JM on ctv has got to be the worst of the worst and that is saying something. She spends a good 10 minutes trying to get another ctv reporter to break down on national tv over death of her co-worker..now,she is pushing poor Dad to the brink of tears.Honest to God,I’d like to jump thru the tv and just throttle her,and I’m a totally non-violent 50-something Granny, but this is simply pathetic.I’d rather listen to nothing than her idiotic blather.
Thanks for the heads up on CTV’s coverage including Drapeau. I will only be watching CBC for coverage on our fallen brave military men.
Yes CBC’s coverage is much more respectful and less political. CP24 is also good but not sure if you guys get it outside of Ontario.
CTV’s terrible commentary is worthy of a barrage of letters to the CRTC or whoever looks after such things.
Jaqueline Millchuck/Whatever, should be called on that one. What exactly does a former/retired Colonel have to add to the politics of the nation, he’s a guest commenter on the military, not politics. Why do we tolerate such crap journalism? Time to wage a few protests in any and every way we can.
I am listening to a young woman from Yarmouth on CBC. She is very respectful and sounds mature beyond her years. Bravo to Nova Scotia for producing a Canadian with morals. If the CBC is hiring Canadians like this one then I apologize for my bashing of the CBC.
CTV on the other hand should hang their heads in shame for the disrespectful words they are broadcasting to all Canadians. Shame! I have written many letters to CTV and have never once had one of these letters acknowledged since the departure of Mike Duffy.
Yes Fay, I agree. CBC is doing us proud today.
Actually it just occurred to me that we should send them a positive message and perhaps they’ll respond with more of the same in the future.
Call 1-800-565-1422 and leave a positive message on their talk back line. CBC has always been great as serious documentaries, and stories like today. They fall down on their political coverage. My CTV channel has not covered any of this, and they now have a football game on.
I have no tears left, but things I noticed-ages of those involved with troops, from very young to sort of old, females and males, possibly frozen ears on many of them. It looked like a lot of Michelle’s co-workers were among the family.
I was impressed with the subdued tone of the anchor on CBC when talking about the whole ceremony.
After today I think the detainee crap will go way down in concerns of Canadians. They question could end up being, why did Colvin appear and why did the media hype it into another faux scandal.
And finally, bravo to all those lining the Highway of Heroes on this very cold day. We all wish we could be there with you.
Good idea Mary T.,but we really need to flood the ctv with calls to complain about that Jacqueline Up-chuck..I ended up muting the tv (my cbc feed on sat was not great and I wanted to see everything)..I ended up just un-muting now and again to see if it got any better..it didn’t.It’s just sheer restraint that my flat screen tv is still hanging on the wall, and I didn’t take lessons from that Iraqui and throw my shoes at that twit.I’ll tell you,my B/P took a hit today..now I have to smoke 5 cigs to get it back to normal!!!!! To me,it was a total lack of respect and dignity for Up-Chuck to be yapping and trying to politicize this while the bodies of our heroes were being repatriated. They and their loved ones deserved better.
You can do better than write letters….stop honouring CTV with your patronage and time.
It’s ultimately your choice to continue to watch what’s offered from those who frustrate you the most.
You get suckered in every time.
It will not change, no matter the names you call them or how much you wish it to.
I watched the CBC offering today and found it ok actually.
I notice there have been very few comments put up on the CTV site for return of 4 soldiers and 1 journalist. i wonder if this could be because they are all complaining about the coverage. Drapeau’s comments are so anti Canadian it is suprising they are not drawing lawsuits. This is the best CTV can come up with?
Mary, a lot of questions surround Colvin’s testimony. His true reason for appearing appears to be concern for breaking Geneva Convention dictates and sympathy for Taliban detainees. Given the fact his information as presented obliquely insinuates our Forces and our country of war crimes, it’s mighty hard to swallow with the death of four more of our men and one young journalist. Colvin seems to have a lot of “information” for the short time he spent there. The media in true form oblige, proliferating this latest smear by the Gotcha Gang on the Hill.
We have to hope we have heard the last of this Kangaroo Committee to smear our reputation, let’s hope “the ar** is out of ‘er” to quote a plain talking Newfie saying.
“Well…that’s it for ctv coverage for me..Drapeau on,with the Dad…….”
AMEN!!! I saw Drapeau and the CTV hostess and KNEW that we were in for a rocky ride.
CBC WAS AWESOME!!! This deserves our attention, big time.
THANKYOU CBC! You made a very difficult afternoon much easier with your classy, reserved and very dignified coverage of the repatriation of our fallen Canadians.
They deserve our kudos today.
I agree Bec. Very respectful of our fallen and, yes our government by not trying to politicize things.
My husband, who watched on a different tv and channel(the one which shall not be named) and told me the Jacqueline M. person made errors too. Said that the first casket off the plane wast someone else and not the Michelle Lang. Also has some choice words for the Drapeau character they dragged out of mothballs.
Kady is having a hissy fit re appointment of Senators. Seems sec 26 of the the senate rules, (or the constitution) or some other thing allows more appointments than the 5. He could name 13 new ones before Mar.
And she says it will be Dec 2010 before PMSH gets his majority. Specter says he gets it in April.
C’mon kids..in tribute to our troops..and I’m sure they were hockey fans..time to de-stress after a really bad day,and cheer on our young boys on Team Canada at the Juniors!
BTW,did any of you catch Don Cherry’s emotional tribute to the fallen on HNIC last nite? He does them proud..so respectful and compassionate. Hmmmm, hockey lover, loves the troops…Senate seat?? That WOULD make the lefties heads blow up,and would sure wake up that sleepy chamber of ‘sober second thot’ Man would I love that!
Also,Don IS a true patriot. No one loves our country more than him.He was a really loud voice against the ‘coalition of idiots’ last yr.
I bet Harper gets his majority without an election.
Don’t forget that come June, when many pensions kick-in we may see a few floor-crossers if the LPOC continue to flog Iffy as their leader.
Even the Liberal blogs aren’t happy about Iffy. That’s got to send a huge signal to the Liberals…if nothing else will.
All good for Harper though!
“Kady is having a hissy fit re appointment of Senators. Seems sec 26 of the the senate rules, (or the constitution) or some other thing allows more appointments than the 5. He could name 13 new ones before Mar.

MaryT, Kady is a flake. Since when did she become an expert on Constitutional matters?
PMSH will get his majority. Will it be spring, or fall or maybe not until 2011 but when ever the election is held, expect a lot more Conservative MPs sitting in the HOC.
Chuck Iffy Time.

I really laugh out loud when I see that panel on Question Period make light of the Senate appointments when we all know they would kiss Harper’s as- if he would appoint any one of them. Whole country knows that – so they are only making themselves look foolish in the eyes of Canadians. Bunch of hypocrites without any integrity.
In regards to Don Cherry – somebody tell me how come this iconic Canadian figure (like him or not) who is a household word in Canada hasn’t been recognized with an Order of Canada ( controversial you say – well I suspect Moregentaler was controversial).Cherry is all about Canada if nothing else. I know why Cherry hasn’t been appointed but I’ll wait to see if someone on this board comes up with the answer.
Peter B….DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Political correctness just NOT in Don Cherry’s quite colorful vocabulary,so there ain’t a hope in H.that he’s on any short list for the OofC. Funny how the left is always recognizing all these other so-called goody two shoes, and preach constantly about only the left being capable of compassion..and the ‘right’ is just nasty and mean-spirited..well,maybe they should do some research on how much Don has done in his private life,in tribute to his wife Rose that passed away.
If anyone wants a crystal clear picture of how ‘caring’ the left is,just take a read of comments on some of their blogs on the recent health scare that Rush had.Really compassionate to wish someone dead..right??? Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.
BTW,I can’t see any reason Don shouldn’t go into the Senate..wasn’t it a Lib PM that put the Big M. (Mahovolich) in there? PMSH got Demers in there..but the Libs have Dryden too…now he really belongs in that Upper Chamber,as I’ve read that a lot of them just go there to snooze, and if there’s anything more snooze-inducing than listening to Dryden..please tell me!!
Peter B, could it be a Don is not a bit politically correct, tells it like it is and probably would have trouble pronouncing ‘Cerise’, his name in French?
More hilarity re: “Chuck Iffy Time” (see above).
“Update II: In reponse to Wells’ tweet, I’m not blaming him for the Libs’ fates in 2010 so much as for the decline of democratic discourse generally.
No, not really. But the point of the post is the incentives created for all parties in how they address online supporters, not so much the precise winners or losers in this round of events.”
http://accidentaldeliberations.blogspot.com/2010/01/dear-paul-wells.html
I feel much better now..just fired off an email to ctv telling them how despicable I thot Jackie Up-chuck was during the ceremony today..and her attempt to drag a bereaved father into slagging the Cons Gov’t was a low point even for ctv.I also informed them, that from now on ctv is off my choices on remote..and thank God for American tv on satellite.I think my B/P is finally coming back down to normal.
Good for you Sammy. I avoid James Travers columns for the same reason.
Don Cherry for a senate seat??? Yes, yes, yes, that’s a great idea!! Now, there’s a real Canadian!! Maybe rough around the edges but no one has a bigger heart!! His support for the troops comes through loud and clear through his emotionality on the subject. You have to love him for “calling them as he sees them!!” He’s got guts!!
I hold the same view as others when it comes to that colonel, Drapeau. Terrible to put it mildly. He’s been on for years with that same slant that wants me to throw a shoe at the tv.
Is anyone surprised that Jacqueline Milczarek is a Ryerson grad?
It’s late; family obligations; I’m wondering who the new senators are …
“He’s been on for years with that same slant that wants me to throw a shoe at the tv.”
NOOOOOOOOO, don’t do it….the left will have you before the International Tribuanal at the Haugue for ‘war crimes’!

“Hizballah Flag and Nazi Salutes in Toronto – Paid for with $3 million from Canadian taxpayers
Here are three photos from the “Gaza Freedom March” in Toronto on December 27. The top one, of the chappie with the flag of the jihad terrorist group Hizballah, comes from Shalom Life, where in “Hizbollah Flag in Downtown Toronto,” Jonathan Dahoah Halevi (translation by Elad Benari) gives a useful account of the demonstration.
The other two photos come from Lumpy, Grumpy and Frumpy, where there are many more. The two here show pro-Palestinian demonstrators giving the Nazi salute, and Blazing Cat Fur explains the significance of the second one:
[...]
Something caught my eye in one of her photos which I posted below, notice the “flag staff”, it reads “Palestine House”. I guess Nazi Ideology is part of the curriculum taught in their ” language instruction and lebensraum immigrant settlement programs”. You know, the ones your taxes pay for. This is taken from NGO Monitor’s submission to the CPCCA posted below.
•Palestine House Educational (PHE) (Mississauga, Ontario): PHE received $747,314 from the Canadian government in 2008-9 for language instruction ; and Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has two agreements totaling over $3 million through 2010 for language instruction and immigrant settlement.”
