No lineups or full body scans required! Just head over to Craig Smith’s Canadian Conservatives network.
Craig calls it ‘a user-maintained conservative portal.‘ All registered users have the ability to add news stories, blog entries, forum entries, videos, polls, events etc.
He’s hoping that it can serve as a ‘true conservative community that fosters a sense of community amongst Canadian conservatives’ (as opposed to simply being a blog aggregator or forums).
So please grab your coffee and go check it out! Looks like Sandy already has.

Had to share this with you Jo..and I hope you all get a little chuckle out of it. I just found the new word to describe the msm in comment section at another blog : we shall all now refer to journalism as ‘URINALISM’ I loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!
And speaking of ‘urinalism’..my New Yrs resolution is to shut off cbc/ctv.I’m sure my mental health will benefit from this decision!!!BTW,send a prayer tonite for Rush..America desperately needs him now more than ever.
Looks like another intriguing medium in which to mix and mingle in 2010, if one has the time to devote. The intent is certainly sound, as a Conservative interactive refuge from the stinging Liebral MSM. We can all express a little “Yearnalism” for the real thing, without engaging in the “pissing matches” of yellow “Urinalism”, as Sammy references. May everyone have a great flushing out tonight, and HAAAAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Thanks so much for that Joanne. And Sammy, that is a great word!
MSM: It’s a wrap for PM Harper.
MSM says: “Second is the unwavering strength of Mr. Harper’s committed base.”
Make that: First “is the unwavering strength of Mr. Harper’s committed base.”
Loyal, true, and blue.
All in favour, raise your right hand.
PM Harper stands at the portal of a new year, Janus-like, looking forward and back, as a true conservative does.
Stand with PM Harper.
…-
“For Harper, 2009 was a very good year
Whether he looks forward or backward, Stephen Harper must be enjoying the view.
The Prime Minister had a very good 2009, blending policy successes with bare-knuckle political fisticuffs that left one opposition politician after another reeling.
His decision to prorogue Parliament for pretty much the rest of the winter has pundits and constitutional experts howling. Well we should howl. Shutting down the House and Senate for the second time in one year makes a mockery of Parliamentary government.
But prorogation leaves the Conservatives with a clear field and this Prime Minister with a deserved reputation as the most capable manager of minority government since Lester Pearson nearly half a century ago.”

“Ontario’s top cop must face allegations: Judge
TORONTO – Ontario’s top police officer must face allegations he illegally influenced municipal officials, a judge ruled Thursday as he ordered either a summons or warrant be issued for provincial police Commissioner Julian Fantino.
The allegations against Fantino were brought by Gary McHale, who has led a number of rallies decrying what he calls two-tier justice in the policing of an aboriginal land occupation in Caledonia, Ont.
McHale alleges that Fantino influenced municipal officials in the town when the commissioner sent an email telling the mayor and councillors not to attend McHale’s rallies.
Influencing or attempting to influence a municipal official in municipal activities is an offence under the Criminal Code and carries up to a five-year prison term if convicted.
A justice of the peace who heard McHale’s complaint refused to issue a summons or warrant against the commissioner.
However Superior Court Justice David Crane, who reviewed the case, ordered the justice of the peace to issue such an order in a ruling released Thursday.
“The learned justice of the peace declined to issue process,” Crane wrote in his ruling. “It is his duty to do so.”"

Craig @ 7:35 – My pleasure!
Link at SDA to Terry Glavin post: “The news managers here in Canada have trouble understanding the Afghan story….”
We really need to beat down the Gotcha Gang on this one, they can’t simply go away, shut up and all will be forgotten, they must beg forgiveness first, apologize to all our great men and women serving in the dangerous hell hole of Afghanistan to make our world a safer place for all.
Just waiting to hear which pathetic face we’ll see first on this one after the latest deaths and injuries. Will it be Rae,Ignatieff, Goodale, Dosanjh, Dewar? Will they continue with the disgraceful accusations, call for the resignation of McKay or hypocritically line up to mourn those they’ve been accusing?
A gentleman(can’t remember his name) was been interviewed on
sorry about that, I hit the enter button by mistake.
As I was trying to write, this guy who was been interviewed on CTV, told the girl flat out that the taliban pay close attention to the canadian media, they read the canadian blogs etc.
And I say, the taliban are fully aware who are more respected and well liked and that ain’t our men women in uniform.
Jen, that’s the point, communications are now available world wide, the enemy is well informed. The Taliban must be laughing hard at the utter stupidity, bordering on treachery, displayed by the opposition parties and their cohorts in the MSM of this country. We’ve been told by the people on the front lines it’s standard for any Taliban prisoner to claim he’s been tortured. Apparently even being hit with a shoe is the ultimate insult in Islam and considered torture.
There was a time when accusations such as being made by the Gotcha Gang on the Hill would be considered treasonous. Not any more, not in Canada ruled by the dictates of Trudeau’s Charter heavily interpreted by the Supremes.
Jen, if you hear that interview again and happen to get the name of the person please let me know. Thanks.
Jen – that sentiment was echoed by Lew Mackenzie at the time the news of our latest fallen heroes was breaking.
He said that the Taliban are as sophisticated in new technologies as we are and read the same headlines, news stories. It’s not a stretch to understand that blogs are like postcards, fully, public and can be read by anyone anywhere. It’s a creepy feeling to thing that people on blogs may be out to do harm but it’s the new reality.
What I’d really like to know is about the headline at Bourque linking to an article that Harper’s setting things in motion for a spring election. Talk about a severely torqued and unnecessary bunch of bullcrap from the usual suspects.
Guess there’s nothing much to write about today so they resort to the old standby – faux election crap.
Happy New Year by the way – and what a hockey game last night for our Juniors! Go Canada…that arena was just buzzing with patriotism, and you know what? I like it! We’re finally, as a nations giving ourselves permission to were our pride on our sleeves.
Good morning all and Happy New Year! Richo, the headline you refer was an opinion piece by none r than cbc’s ‘retired’ Don Newman..and it’s a bigger pantload than the one the failed Knickerbomber in the US had! I took a wee gander at it last eve,and found the comments interesting.Nice to see all my suspicions of Newman’s blatant hate of Cons all the time he was doing the ‘Braaaaaaawdcast’ are confirmed!
oops..that ‘r’ should be other
ctv newsnet replaying interview with PMSH right now.
Riccho, it is not Lewis who I am refering too but another guy who was interviewed by Marcia Mac Millan yesterday
Joanne, I will do my best to find yesterdays interviews by Marcia.
[...] last bit ties in with discussions on previous posts here showing how the Taliban is cleverly taking advantage of our free and open [...]
Joanne, I will do my best to find yesterdays interviews by Marcia.
Thanks Jen. Don’t worry if you can’t. It did sound interesting though.
Jen – I meant that in addition to whoever said what you shared Lewis also said much the same thing.
It’s not an isolated opinion and one that we quite forget about.
It’s going to be fun watching Iggy in the next election as he loses the Liberal Party leadership, his seat in the House of Commons and his coveted MP’s gold plated pension in one fell swoop.
MacKenzie Valley Pipeline delayed to point of being uneconomic, environmental assessment panel costs soar, what could caused this to happen? This panel was appointed in 2004 by the Chretien Liberals, the chair now makes $900,000 a year, what?
From the G&M archives;
March, 2009: The budget for the panel reviewing the proposed $16-billion Mackenzie Valley Pipeline has nearly tripled amid delays that have frustrated industry and government, an internal federal report said. The report from the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency says the Joint Review Panel’s costs have risen to $18-million, from the original budget of $6.8-million when it was established in the summer of 2004. The federal review of its work found that salaries alone have soared to $11-million, including more than $900,000 for the chairman, said a source who has been briefed on it.
June, 2009: Exxon Mobil Corp. joined forces with TransCanada Corp. on its $26-billion (U.S.) natural gas pipeline from Alaska to Alberta, a move that jeopardizes the Mackenzie Valley gas project vital to the development of Canada’s north. Exxon and Imperial both said that Mackenzie is still on track and unaffected by the Alaska development. But because of numerous regulatory delays, the Mackenzie project wouldn’t be completed before 2017 at the earliest, and most analysts doubt the two projects could proceed at the same time because of required construction resources.
September, 2009: The Globe and Mail learned that federal public servants at Transport Canada are routinely filing millions of dollars in expenses – including overtime, salaries and computers – to a fund was set up six years ago so that the department could oversee the expected increase in air traffic and other transportation needs. Though the pipeline remains in limbo, the department has kept the fund alive year after year, using it to cover millions in expenses that have nothing to do with the pipeline. Documents released through access-to-information requests list the expenses, which total $10.7-million since 2004. Expenses continued to be billed to the pipeline project this year.
What’s more, government documents show Transport Canada managers insisted employees bill all expenses to the fund for any travel that is loosely in the area of the proposed pipeline – listing 23 communities in the Northwest Territories as “Mackenzie Valley locations.” When employees noted their trips to the region had nothing to do with the pipeline, they were told that Transport Canada headquarters approved the use of the fund based on geography.

From the Joint Review Panel website;
The Joint Review Panel for the Mackenzie Gas Project is a seven-member, independent body that will evaluate the potential impacts of the project on the environment and lives of the people in the project area.
The Panel was appointed on August 18, 2004 by the Minister of the Environment, in agreement with the Chairs of both the Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board and the Inuvialuit Game Council, the parties with legislated environmental assessment responsibilities along the proposed project route. The Panel will work to fulfill the environmental impact assessment responsibilities of the land claims agreements, as well as federal legislation.

Ha! Thanks for the laugh Bruce.
The Conservatives have won an arcane court battle with Elections Canada that will force the agency to accept a $591,000 cheque from the party.
“This may be the first time in history that a political party went to court to try to give money back to Elections Canada,” said a Conservative memo released on Thursday.
The Conservatives say they had brought the application against Elections Canada in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice to prevent so-called “rebate double-dipping.”
