We interrupt this Christmas break with a quick post

I’m sorry but I just had to point out Lorrie Goldstein’s column published in yesterday’s Sun – Copenhagen sure was a gas. Goldstein at his best, IMHO.

He’s packaged all the Copenhagen hypocrisy into one zinger of carbon-spewing roast:

Now that the enviro nuts have finished handing out their “Fossil of the Day” and “Colossal Fossil” awards, unfairly smearing Canada at the just-completed Copenhagen climate summit, let’s return the favour with some well-deserved honours of our own.

Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, we present the Copenhagen Flatulence Awards, honouring those who raised the art of generating hot air and gassy emissions to new intensity levels during the UN-sponsored festival of indignation.

The “I’m Not Really A Climatologist, I Just Play One on TV” Flatulence Award:

To Al Gore, who, having made a career out of mocking opponents for “getting the science wrong” on global warming, gets the science wrong on the melting of the polar ice cap, according to the scientist he says he got the science from.

The “That Old Man River, He Just Keeps Rolling Along” Flatulence Award:

To David Suzuki, for suggesting during a CBC interview — twice — that anyone worried about lost jobs if Canada’s oil sands are shut down, would also have endorsed slavery in the American south….

Please read the whole thing. Bonus chuckle near the end. I don’t want to spoil it for you.

The comments in response to Lorrie’s column are worth checking out too and include kudos for some of those who were actually looking out for our best interests in Copenhagen:

Don’t forget to send the PM a note telling him that he did a good job. Nice that he was so polite in waiting until the Empty Suit repeated what he’s been saying for years. Nice of him not to make the big O look more frantic than he was.

Jim Prentice deserves a pat on the back too.

Two men that Stood Up for Canada.

This is probably as good a time as any to thank Lorrie for all his dedication and effort in putting forward the truth regarding the true motives of the carbon-credit industry and environmentalists in general. Goldstein has done a terrific amount of research in this field and is extremely knowledgeable as well as objective. He is always ready to discuss the issues with readers, bloggers and colleagues.

Canada needs more in the media like Lorrie Goldstein.

Tuesday Update:

Lorrie Goldstein gives well-deserved kudos to PM Harper and Jim PrenticeEnviro nuts blow smoke (H/T Liz J):

Congratulations to Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Environment Minister Jim Prentice for receiving both the “Colossal Fossil” award and the most “Fossil of the Day” awards from the enviro nuts at the now-concluded Copenhagen climate summit.

This means Harper and Prentice remembered their duty in Copenhagen was to represent Canadian taxpayers, not radicals who would happily destroy our economy, primarily for ideological reasons...

‘Read Lorrie Goldstein’s GR-8 column last night. LOL and right on. I’m going to send the link to Prime Minister Stephen Harper — just in case he hasn’t seen it — to lift his spirits. (It must be really hard to be surrounded by idiots at these conferences …)

TimesUK says: The AGW cover has been stripped away.

AGW’s Choo-Choo trains have crashed headlong in a Chunnel of Reality.

All the AGWarmers have is Hope and Fear: a pairofducks and “the out-and-out “contrarians”. That’s you.

Here’s your contribution: “who do so much to reinforce people’s uncertainty and confusion.”

Is that all there is to this AGW clap?

“to bill the Copenhagen accord as anything other than a failure is simply dishonest.”

“Paradoxically, the greatest cause for hope lies in the depth of that failure.”

    Here is the best part:

“It will provide new ammunition for the out-and-out “contrarians” scattered through the UK media who remain unpersuaded by the overwhelming consensus on the science of climate change, and who do so much to reinforce people’s uncertainty and confusion.”

  4. Richco says:

Lorrie stands out because instead of falling prey to the claptrap of bias, doesn’t give it any credibility at all but instead creating his own news and views via his opinion.

I also wouldn’t call Lorrie “objective”. He’s actually leaning in one definite direction. It’s one that suits our own and ours is not objective either.

I’d call him objective IF he presented both sides equally – he doesn’t. He speaks for the underdog more often than not and we(and he) knows that all the world loves an underdog.

He says in clear language what many are thinking but afraid to say openly. Lorrie does so on the behalf of all of the Fossils who don’t have the capacity to reach millions AND he isn’t deterred or taken off-course by the left-leaning media.

  5. Bubba Brown says:

This old world has been around for a long time it’s more than a little ironic that at the Copenhagen shriek fest it just started gettin’ colder and colder, Eurabia is now in a deep freeze, trains won’t run, -3 celsius is apparently severe cold there and wheres Waldo? Gore and Suzuki have apparently retreated to the Bat Cave to come up with a new plan. I understand from “Moose and Squirrel” the greenies are now gonna save the planet one Sheet of T.P. at a time. The tragedy of all this is that it is going to be very hard for real Scientists to be listened to.
I agree Joanne I had e-mailed both PM Harper and MP Prentice before the Copenhagen Conference I think a followup is in order. I thinking I will also let Lorrie Goldstien know he is a treasure, a very rare find in the Lefty-lockstep that the media is. How very fortunate we are that PM Harper was wise enough to hold back, joining the U N Lemmings lining up to go over the cliff was never a viable option. If Africa, Burundi wherever wants to succeed there is a time tested and proven recipe, democracy, get up in the mornin’ go to work, repeat. It isn’t easy but it beats the heck out of what they are doin’ right now.

Fabulous! Thanks for thinking of us and posting this, Joanne.
Jim Prentice, will be on Rutherford this AM. Sounded like first up but I’m not sure.
    Cheers!

  9. MaryT says:

Sure glad the media dissed our PM for not being involved in the final deal before it was finalized. Think of the ink they could have used blaming it all on the PM.
Almost time for new year resolutions. Let us all hope for a PMSH huge majority, via the budget.
If iffy is prepared for 3-4 yrs in opposition, it would be a great time to cancel the 1.95/vote, lower equalization payments, for a start, iffy will vote for it.

  12. I’m taking a break from blogging this week, but had to stop by to thank you for the heads-up about Lorrie Goldstein’s column. I have a lot of time for Lorrie and have enjoyed his work over the years. Yet again his column is dead on target.

    Have a Merry Christmas, Joanne.
