Harper keeps his head down – John Ivison, Post:
…Copenhagen may yield an improved agreement, if non-Kyoto signatories like China, India, Brazil and the United States are included. But it remains a giant wealth transfer mechanism.
Anyone who doubts this should read yesterday’s editorial in the Wall Street Journal, which details how Corus, Europe’s second-largest steel-maker, has shut a giant plant at Redcar in England, cutting 1,700 jobs. (For the editorial, see Page A16.)
Corus, owned by Tata of India, will now be able to sell its excess of carbon allowances, worth hundreds of millions of dollars, because it will produce six million fewer tons of CO2.
Tata could emerge a two-time winner from the cap-and-trade game. It is keen to increase its production in India, so it may shift Corus’s production to the sub-continent, where the carbon tariff is less punitive, and receive hundreds of millions of dollars from the UN’s Clean Development Fund. Of course, no emissions would be reduced in this process…
Save the planet: Kill your pets – Terry O’Neill, Post:
…For the vast majority of Canadians, pet ownership is a luxury. Therefore, it seems hypocritical for activists to caterwaul about “saving the planet” from the evils of carbon-spewing capitalism and overpopulation when there are so many non-essential animals taking up space, using up resources and exhaling carbon emissions out of their little snouts.
Consider, for example, a Canadian group called Moms Against Climate Change, which recently produced a disturbing video showing a mob of angry children clashing with riot police. The group warns of “starving bears, droughts, floods … and even more extreme weather events, such as hurricanes and tornados” should drastic action not be taken.
Angela Morgan of Dundas, Ont., states on the Moms website that she has a husband, two children, two cats and a dog. It sounds like a lovely household but, in light of the carbon-spewing potential of those three pets, it also stinks of hypocrisy…
And the following Financial Post column is a GEM!!! This is no way to run a planet by William Watson:
…The average reporter had better wake up and understand that for a certain demographic out here, when this-or-that environmental group gives the Government of Canada its daily satiric award for inadequate greenhouse-gas policies, that actually persuades us that the Government’s refreshing refusal to play the hypocritical promise-anything-deliver-nothing game is really what the world needs more of…

Monckton is listed as a “Global Warming” expert for the Heartland Institute, a Chicago-based freemarket think tank. The Heartland Institute frequently attacks the scientific evidence for human-caused climate change. The Heartland Institute has received over $791,000 from oil-giant ExxonMobil since 1998.
The tobacco industry has also been a regular funder to the Heartland Institute, with at least $190,000 coming from Philip Morris since 1993. The Heartland Institute maintains a smoker’s rights section on its website called “The Smoker’s Lounge.”
It’s ok though because he’s a lord.
When this new world order takes over and poor become rich because the rich are forced to support them; when police come to your door and fine you for burning old style light bulbs or not recycling; when dictators sit in their palaces while their countryment continue to die and starve enjoying the fruits of our labour; will people like Wednesday Jones admit that she should have spoken up or will she simply blame the Conservative Government for not standing up to these madmen.
Sadly, I think the latter
Appears great fear is taking hold among the Global Warming cultists, they’re reduced to thuggery when their big lie is now being exposed. Someone is going to be killed by these crazy people, they’re out of control.

hard to justify this type of behavior
if police are losing their cool not much hope for the fanatic demonstrators
if your point has to be made by violence it loses a lot of weight
very frightening
Why? lends further weight to the question why?
if we save the planet and turn into a violent world what have we gained?

Wednesday…what happened to you yesterday!!! Obviously you are not interested in debate. Did you read my comment from this morning on the previous post…. I will copy it here for some food for thought as to how you are being hoodwinked. I hope you take the time to actually read it.
If Wednesday comes back on Friday I would encourage her to go over to Springers and for herself just how flip flopping the whole climate debate is….Global Cooling, Global Warming…funny how they attribute drought, heavy rains, cool temps, warm temps, wind, etc etc to the flavour of the day. No wonder they changed the name to Climate Change – that way they can pretend that everything that happens outside means they need more money.
I remember David Suzuki pontificating on CBC’s (back when there were two channels) the Nature of Things that we were entering another ice age…..I wonder what changed David…Oh yeah, it got warmer…..so David threw out that and jumped on the warming.
Wednesday, obviously you just wanted to point out the propoganda that you have allowed to jilt your perspective and not engage in debate, but that is typical of your ilk, sweetheart…isn’t it.
http://www.sortofpolitical.com/2009/12/blast-from-past-remember-global-cooling.html
So are you going to debate, or just drop by will your silly ‘denier’ cries. When the police come to your door will you stand up and say, I was wrong or will you just blame Conservatives for getting us into this mess.
I think it is very sad that the so called ‘progressives’ are shown to be so violent…aren’t they are about bringing peace to the world…or is it just peace if everyone does what they say?
Think about that one Wednesday!
Maz2 – President Obama’s stance is basically the same as PM Harper’s – ie everyone has to be in and be accountable or else it won’t work.
Yet we are vilified and get most of the fossil awards. Strange, that.

*GULAG:
“The term “GULAG” is an acronym for the Soviet bureaucratic institution, Glavnoe Upravlenie ispravitel’no-trudovykh LAGerei (Main Administration of Corrective Labor Camps), that operated the Soviet system of forced labor camps in the Stalin era. Since the publication of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s The Gulag Archipelago in 1973, the term has come to represent the entire Soviet forced labor penal system. Concentration camps were created in the Soviet Union shortly after the 1917 revolution, but the system grew to tremendous proportions during the course of Stalin’s campaign to turn the Soviet Union into a modern industrial power and to collectivize agriculture in the early 1930s.
Gulag camps existed throughout the Soviet Union, but the largest camps lay in the most extreme geographical and climatic regions of the country from the Arctic north to the Siberian east and the Central Asian south. Prisoners were engaged in a variety of economic activities, but their work was typically unskilled, manual, and economically inefficient. The combination of endemic violence, extreme climate, hard labor, meager food rations and unsanitary conditions led to extremely high death rates in the camps.”

What hyperbole… How did we go from “pushed” to “knocked out”?
Adding to Wednesday:
So who is Lord Christopher Mockton? “Mother Jones” describes him as a “self-described former special adviser to Margaret Thatcher on matters ranging from hydrogeology to epidemiology [who] has more recently devoted himself to climatology.” The book “Climate Cover Up” notes, however, that he has no background in science whatsoever, and he’s studied only classics and journalism. He shows up at events to make his global warming-denying case at the behest of groups funded by dirty energy interests such as Friends of America and The Heartland Institute.
Despite the fact that he no scientific training, he’s been called upon twice by Republicans in Congress to testify before subcommittees as a climate “expert” — you can read his statement to the Ways and Means Committee here.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/11/lord-christopher-monckton_n_388701.html
This exchange shows what Moncton is all about:
Several dozen activists interrupted a speech unfurling banners calling for “Clean Energy Now”, which prompted Monckton to take the microphone and accuse them of being “crazed Hitler youth”. He returned yesterday for a further discussion:
Monckton said to Ben Wessel, a 20-year-old activist from Middlebury College, Vermont, who is Jewish, said last night: “I was so surprised. I hoped to have a more civil conversation with the man. It’s fine that we have differences, but it’s not okay to pull out such hateful language.”
Monckton is one of the most prominent climate change sceptics and regularly makes TV appearances on the subject, including on US Fox News anchor Glenn Beck’s show. He also undertook a lecture tour of US audiences this year and this week joined the UK Independence party, which denies climate change is man-made. He is the hereditary third Viscount Monckton of Brenchley.
1 Monckton: “There hasn’t been any global warming for 15 years and you know it.”
2 Monckton: “I will call you Hitler youth if you ever again interrupt any meeting at which I am present, where we are trying to have a private conversation.”
3 Activist: “Stop calling us Nazis and base the discussion on principles.”
4 Monckton: “If you behave like the Hitler youth, I’ll call you what you are – Hitler youth.”
5 Wessel (left): “I would like to give you my card.”
Monckton: “I do not want the cards of the Hitler youth. No.”
6 “Don’t you dare ever invade any meeting of mine again and behave in that childish, boonish, Hitler-ish fashion.”

Now if ONLY you could get a credible source for what Monckton is asserting…
I think it is very sad that the so called ‘progressives’ are shown to be so violent…aren’t they are about bringing peace to the world…or is it just peace if everyone does what they say?
A gross generalization. You tend to cut people who disagree with you from the same cookie cutter. Since I believe that man-made climate change is clear and present danger, I, therefore, condone violence. How’s that work?
It’s funny how Alberta Girl feels the need to continually use sarcasm to deflect from her woeful ignorance. Btw, I’m a man not a woman. Wednesday Jones is a pseudonym, you know, just like Alberta Girl is.
Doesn’t it worry you that climate change skeptics like Lord Monckton receive payment from companies like Exxon? Do you still believe smoking can’t kill you? The same tactics employed by the tobacco industry to keep you smoking are being used by big oil.
Joanne, we get vilified because our government is proposing to increase our GHG emissions while the rest of the world tries to find a way to decrease them.
Looking for scapegoats to pay for calamitous events, such as hurricanes or earthquakes, seems to unleash the raging search for who is responsible. This is a little different, because the timing is different.
Now we are to pre-pay to avoid a future catastrophe … which we don’t even know … (well never mind that).
This is the post-modern touch.
“It’s ok though because he’s a lord.”
Wednesday Jones, what is NOT OKAY, is that you don’t address the issue.
The MAN was brutalized and yet you ignore that aspect entirely only to nit-pic about contributors to Heartland.
So because Heartland receives funds that YOU find offensive, an elderly man deserves to be KNOCKED OUT?
UN-bloody-believable!
Wednesday on Friday is purposely baiting the discussion folks. Just because it supports the violence and brutality at all costs of those who disagree with the environuts don’t let that move this discussion today off of what Joanne’s post suggests.
Copenhagen is a bust…..other wise Wednesday(not his real name I’m betting and likely about 19 years old) wouldn’t be puffin pooping the BT network.
I’m proud to be a Fossil!
Don’t bite and forget about asking for accounting of the truth AG. When it comes to that the Wednesday’s of this world disappear.
I have met Lord Monckton on a few occasions. He is a charming , affable man. Why these thugs would attack him like this is beyond despicable. I guess they can’t handle the truth. As to funding of the Heartland Institute. The Global warming chicken littles have received billions in funding from governments. Its in their interest to continue the fraud, they make a lot of money from it, just like the goreacle.
Actually I think that the most the world see of the violence and bashing by the cult of environmentalists the better. It’s really, really bad PR and the tide will turn against them. Pictures don’t lie.
Wednesday Jones, has cut and pasted the exact same thing at other sites under a different name. No credibility whatsoever so best to IGNORE!

Look what Canada won folks:
Climate Shame As Canada Named “Colossal Fossil”
Naming Canada as “Colossal Fossil” at the boldest, most audacious Fossil Award ceremony to date, tuxedo-clad Ben Wikler of Avaaz.org said:
“Fossil of the Year goes to CANADA, for bringing a totally unacceptable position into Copenhagen and refusing to strengthen it one bit. Canada’s 2020 target is among the worst in the industrialized world, and leaked cabinet documents revealed that the governments is contemplating a cap-and-trade plan so weak that it would put even that target out of reach.
“Canada has made zero progress here on financing, offering nothing for the short term or the long term beyond vague platitudes. And in last night’s high-level segment, Canada’s environment minister gave a speech so lame that it didn’t include a single target, number or reference to the science.
“Canada’s performance here in Copenhagen builds on two years of delay, obstruction and total inaction. This government thinks there’s a choice between environment and economy, and for them, tar sands beats climate every time. Canada’s emissions are headed nowhere but up. For all this and more, we name Canada the Colossal Fossil.”

Woo,Hoo!!
Wednesday for some reason doesn’t want us to know that Exxon Mobil has given much more money than $791,000 to the Kyoto crowd. Because they stand to profit mightily from the hoax.
No need to fuss about global warming kids..the Libs have moved on to another upcoming ‘scandal de jour’..I can see the headlines now: PMSH and the prudish neo-Cons don’t care about sex-toys and wimmins health!!!!! cbc will be absolutely VIBRATING with outrage, the wimmins groups will be marching on the Hill with their edible panties in a twist..oh the shame of it all!!

Btw, I’m a man not a woman.
Sorry about that Mr. Jones.
Wednesday also has never explained how giving the likes of Robert Mugabe a bunch of money to hire more soldiers to oppress his population is going to halt global warming. Unless the resulting decrease in population is what they are looking for?

The use of violence seems to be an acceptable action,
as far as the environutjobs are concerned.
Who the hell is this Ben Wikler of Avaaz.org. How come he doesn’t look at the European Cap & Trade system which has proven to be the rife with corruption. Example the Corus Steel Co. in Red Fern England that ended up laying off all 1700 employees and selling, moving the plant to India that do not have the same GHG restrictions placed on them.
This whole Climate UNFCCC is the world’s biggest money grab; this money will ended up in swiss bank accounts of some tin pot dictator.
The Libs and Dippers will have a field day railing on the government. But the way things are going, the lefties will get the wish and Canadians will end up paying about 3000 dollars per year extra to satisfy their social engineering.
“It’s funny how Alberta Girl feels the need to continually use sarcasm to deflect from her woeful ignorance. Btw, I’m a man not a woman. Wednesday Jones is a pseudonym, you know, just like Alberta Girl is.”
Apologies, WJ for calling you female – there was a poster the other day – Mrs Jones – I assumed they were the same.
However…it doesn’t detract from what I am saying – and for you to accuse me of using sarcasm while you blatantly call out Joanne as a dupe and the devil says alot about your ignorance WJ.
Did you check out Springer’s blog about what Suzuki was saying in the 70′s….I don’t know how old you are WJ, but I would assume you are young because you obviously do not have the benefit of actually having lived for several decades and viewing the numerous end of the earth scams – like
Cold War – 60′

Global Warming – 2000′s
I hold no hope that you will even attempt to find out, however when you grow up, you will realize how you have been duped WJ; let’s hope you are MAN enough to admit it.
And yes….that was sarcasm!
AGW fanatics + Cap and trade/$100 billion yearly to third world = tossing virgins into the volcano……………………… that’s Leftist Mental Disorder.
Posted this morning on the last thread but nobody will read it:
Interesting thing about Carolyn Bennett’s new-found concern over sex toys.
She’s doing it on behalf of a couple of entrepreneurs who sell eco-sex toys. Yes, she’s now shilling for the eco-sex toy industry.
Maybe they promised her some free samples.
Strange the certain people always mention the money the Oil companies have given the denier org but sort of ignore how much money they have given to the other side. It is mega millions. W brought up the tobacco industry, wonder how much of the anti smoking science is also garbage.
I have always maintained that if second hand smoke was so dangerous it probably killed all those viruses lurking in offices and on the street. We sure seem to have a lot more sick bldgs and other problems since the second hand smoke disappeared. I also notice a lot of people dying from outdoor activities, skiing, climbing, running, and none of them were/are smokers. Could we say not smoking is dangerous to your health.
I wonder is Bennett realizes the position she has put herself in by complaining about sex toys. How would she know.
Perhaps the next world meeting should be held by teleconference.
What gives these GO groups the power to disrupt, is they can congregate in one place in large numbers.
Wasn’t Bennett the one who was screaming about not enough H1N1 vaccine for Canada and so on? That woman really does like to grab centre stage.
Alberta Girl,
you forgot the ‘Y2K’ scare and the newest ’12/12/2012′ Mayan calendar scare.
I also seem to recall adults suggesting that the world was going to end if teenagers didn’t cut their hair and if Elvis didn’t stop gyrating his hips.
Now we find out that sex toys will kill you unless you buy eco-sex toys such as the ones Dr. Bennett is currently shilling.
Remember when people who wore sandwich boards reading “THE END OF THE WORLD IS NIGH!!” were considered to be crackpots?
These days we elect them to Parliament.
If someone had to be beaten up, Lord M is not my first choice. Cheers for our winning all those awards, and cheers for choosing dinner with the Queen, than being a target for the MSM.

I suspect that we’ll see less and less mention of the tobacco industry as the “debate” continues. The turning point against big tobacco was when it was discovered that they were covering up scientific findings that disagreed with their stated point of view. As this, combined with subversion of “peer review”, is the warmer’s prefered method of dealing with science that disagrees with them (as shown in the FOIA-ready leaked emails) I don’t think that the warmers will like the linkages that thinking people make.
As for the money issue, Exxon spent less than half as much over 10 years as the budget for the CRU for the equivalent time. If Exxon’s money is enough to corrupt, then the erstwhile keepers of the global climate data must be twice as corrupt (if one follows what passes for logic amongst the warmers).
Cut and paste? This is a crime? How many cut and paste jobs do your readers provide to support their positions? As far as posting the same remarks at other sites, I already said “Wednesday Jones” is a pseudonym. This site doesn’t require a google sign in. With sites that do, I post with a google handle.
If Harper supporters are so certain that climate change is a hoax, shouldn’t you demand that your government represent your beliefs? Shouldn’t you demand that they campaign as climate skeptics? Why the double-speak from the Harperites? What happened to transparent government?
“I’m a man, not a woman”
Told’ya….busted!
I think Harper’s playing this all perfectly. That he trusts his Minister is clear and like someone said earlier Obama’s stand is exactly the PMs, and last I checked the PM, not Charest, not McGuinty and sure as hell NOT Miller have earned the right to speak for Canada and Canadians.
The Stephen Harper that I remember is a few steps ahead of the media pundits on this guaranteed.
I mean why be associated with an event like Copenhagen when it’s a told Thugfest?
I’d rather have the PM watching the state of the finances of our nation than throwing it away on gimmicks and schemes.
Given that the End-of-the-Worlders say we’re all doomed in 2012 why are we busting our butts and our wallets to save the environment. When the world goes…so do we. The enviromaniacs and the enviroment go with us!

If a reader has made the exact same comment on another site, it is simple courtesy to the blog owner to say that as they post the comment. Otherwise it is the same as spam, quite frankly.
Some regulars do that once in a while here, and when they do they make that disclosure which I appreciate and therefore have no problem with them doing it occasionally.
But it’s the same thing as sending the identical ‘letter to the editor’ to all the papers in Canada. Let’s just say that it’s disingenuous not to acknowledge it.
So when I see that happening on a regular basis with the same commenter, I simply ban them.
Jones, global warming alamists who only investigate the funding on the skeptic side are hypocrites. Read and learn:

Well it’s Friday! good mornin’ to all even the trolls! You have a chance here to pick up some acquired wisdom, some of us have been around for a while seen a lot of political scams from the Left and this latest is just more of the same, whatever day of the week it is we call Bulls**T it’s because that is what it is. Follow the money grasshopper, or you are just to “green” to wander out of the temple (mom’s basement) without adult supervision.
So our “True North Strong and Free” is a “Colossal Fossil” is it? Well damm but that makes me proud, stand fast HM PM Harper and MP Prentice, you are makin’ this old guy proud.!!
As for the goons that knocked an old man off his feet, what goes around comes around, bad karma will follow you all the days of your life. As for Lord Monckton being in the pay of Exxon I am an old guy some of the stuff I have is old, like the copy of “Harrowsmith” magazine #24 volume 4 December 1979, page 120 David Suzuki , Scientist, broadcaster, askin’ for people to donate to “save” PetroCan??
Now I can only assume that this paid better than wandering around in on of those goofy polar bear costumes? this fact in print about a future with “scarce oil” which of course was just a ploy to get the sheeple to pay more. I remember the looming ice age, population bomb, silent spring which banned ddt and killed millions of Africans by taking away the one thing that controlled Malarial mosquitoes.
Just when you thought it was gonna get quiet out comes Carolyn Bennett with the latest Lieberal cause, forget luncheon meat, seal meat, wafer-rage, shoe-be -do-be-do, I did it my waay…. apologies to Frank. Anyway a couple of “environmentally” concerned young ladies have focused Carolyn’s ever rapidly shifting attention )(kinda like a ferret after a triple espresso) onto “SEX TOYS” Are
you really glad to see me or is that a cruise missile under the Christmas tree? I can only assume the aah toys will only get the “Lieberal seal of approval” if they are solar powered or wind powered ( this will require copious quantities of beans) None of them dirty Coal Fired ones from China. The NDP will certainly be on side with this one Oliva was waving around something the size of a “jack-hammer” (pun intended) at the pride parade. Gave this old guy a good laugh this mornin’ hope I’m not too O.T. Joanne
CWTF at 9:40 am:
“Several dozen activists interrupted a speech unfurling banners calling for “Clean Energy Now”, which prompted Monckton to take the microphone and accuse them of being “crazed Hitler youth”.”
Why should anyone’s speech be interrupted by anyone else? If you don’t agree with Lord Monckton or any other speaker, for that matter, hear him out and then ask him all the pointed questions you want.
But no, from your description, those activists were bent on shutting down a meeting where a POV that they disagree with was being expressed.
Who appointed those activists censors of what can or cannot be said in a public forum?
Jones, over that same time period the US government has pumped 30 billion in to climate research. Only those who honest enough to declare that the global warming emperor is naked get their research funding cut. The stimulus package could deliver 80 Billion more research dollars to this scientific snipe hunt.
Let’s see, big government is funding research on a make believe problem that requires even bigger government.
No, no conflict of interest there.
And now for something completely different … oh, no, it’s more of the same … Canadian Press with another misleading headline to the effect the PM was snubbed by Obama:
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/091218/national/climate_cda
“Harper not on climate guest list as U.S. president meets with 19 leaders” and “Obama snubs Harper.”
It is only mid-way through the article that readers learn the PM was
1. otherwise engaged “The Prime Minister’s Office said Harper is at the Bella Centre conference hall, where the summit is being held, to attend the plenary sessions.”
and
2. the PM had already had a meeting with Obama: “Harper had his audience with Obama over lunch Friday. The White House distributed a list of a dozen leaders the U.S. president chatted with in between bites.”
The misleading inaccuracy of the headline follows yesterday’s CP headline “Harper skips Canada’s climate conference speech to dine with leaders” suggesting the PM was not interested in attending the talks. Readers learned only at the very end of that article that a number of leaders (79 out 0f 136) had also “skipped” the speeches to attend a dinner with the Danish Queen.
The Danes, not Obama, made up the list.
Thanks for the belly laugh Bubba!!!
Trying to imagine a solar powered sex toy,
still laughing…1
What people like “Wednesday Jones” really want to say is that it’s OK for Lord Monckton to get beaten up because he is a denier.
Progressives take any means they can to force their way. We’re seeing that big time now.
Soccermom, that’s right. Suzuki said deniers should be jailed.
Mis Jones: A picture is worth a thousand words – so refute this:
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2009/12/12/historical-video-perspective-our-current-unprecedented-global-warming-in-the-context-of-scale/
I’ll keep posting this as long as the climate fraudsters continue to ignore the science that isn’t settled and never was. Even the Chinese are on side with society advancing in warmer climes. History has proved that, but then that would be an inconvenient truth.
Miss Jones – I’m going to assume that you actually live in Canada, how do you heat your home this winter? natural gas, oil, coal-fired electricity or hydro? Single family or multi? Do you drive a car, truck, take transit, live in a large metropolitan area, or out in the sticks? If you do, which brand of gasoline do you use? Or is it diesel? Do you eat food? Where is it shipped from and how? Do you browse at Safeway, IGA, Sobeys, Overwatie, Co-Op? Or do you operate a large market garden or farming business? Do you raise livestock? Do you drink bottled or tap water? How often do you bathe? Daily or Saturday nights? Do you wash your clothes, by hand or machine? Own a dryer, or iron?
You obviously operate a computer, so you do actually use electricity. How about an oven or stove, toaster, toaster oven?
Tell us all here “How Green You Are”.
Adrian – Rather than publish your comment I will take it under advisement and thank you for the heads-up.
CNN showing footage of Chinese media blocking US media from attending critical meeting.
Chinese media are inside the meeting, chinese media are outside stopping US media from entering.
And China represents the developing nations like this…….
WJ – “Doesn’t it worry you that climate change skeptics like Lord Monckton receive payment from companies like Exxon?”
You’ve described ~ $1,000,000 in funding from “companies like Exxon”. How much funding do you think AGW “scientists” have received from governments? The same governments that are just itching for a reason to hike taxes and impose more control over the private sector and people’s lives.
If only governments had some way to convince people there was a huge catastrophy on the way so they could trick everyone into paying more taxes and giving up their freedoms, eh (Rahmbo: “never let a crisis go to waste”)? Surely the research they paid for couldn’t have been skewed towards the results they wanted, could it? Grants need to be renewed, you know.
I was told once that governments would love to find a way to tax the very air we breathe. Well, they’re only a few signatures away.
For people like CWTF to complain about Lord Monckton’s scientific and academic credentials is really rich, compared to the way so many of them fall all over themselves over the sainted Dr David Suzuki. He has no more scientific or academic credentials than your average reality television show participant.
If CWTF and his fellow idealogues don’t believe me, they should take a gander at his web site, click on “About Us” at the top right, then on the good doctor’s name on the left, and you will come to his Brief Biography. It describes him as a “geneticist.” Click on the word here near the top, under the good doctor’s name, and as indicated you will get his CV. It gives his complete academic and scientific credentials. Not once is climatology, atmospherics, or meteorology (the science dealing with phenomena of the atmosphere, especially weather processes and weather forecasting) mentioned.
One would think that if he had scientific or academic credentials concerning global warming or climatology, he would trumpet them aloud, and not hide them. One can only conclude that he has no such credentials.
When he speaks on climatology or global warming, David Suzuki is therefore speaking on a topic totally outside his area of scientific expertise, which is, of course, his right. Nevertheless, it does mean that his views on climatology and global warming have no more authority than yours or mine. Come to think of it, it probably explains why he doesn’t like to answer the really tough questions and, in fact, refuses to publicly debate the issue.
Forget about “Wednesday Jones”, it’s just a troll out to take the threads away from reasoned banter and factual information exchange. Probably from the same bunker as a few others we all know.
Michelle Malkin on Eco-Thuggery. I think that is a term we should use more often, IMO.

“ … A Mumbai-based Indian multinational conglomerate with business ties to Rajendra K. Pachauri, the chairman since 2002 of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC, stands to make several hundred million dollars in European Union carbon credits simply by closing a steel production facility in Britain with the loss of 1,700 jobs.
The Tata Group headquartered in Mumbai anticipates receiving windfall profits of up to nearly $2 billion from closing the Corus Redcar steelmaking plant in Britain, with about half of the savings expected to result from cashing in on carbon credits granted the steelmaker by the European Union under the EU’s emissions-trading scheme.
Corus has accumulated 7.5 million European Union surplus carbon allowances, given the company free by the EU, after corporate officials lobbied EU officials aggressively in Brussels. … “

Sampler of Riley’s shrewisms:
“The Opposition, representing the majority, is supposed to push back (although the most passionate and persuasive call for tough action in Copenhagen this week came from David Suzuki, not from Michael Ignatieff or Jack Layton.)”
“Short of hauling Sheila Fraser off in leg-irons, sending the dangerously popular Michaëlle Jean on an unescorted fact-finding mission to Mogadishu, or appointing Don Cherry to the Senate, it is hard to know what it will take to provoke a pro-democracy movement here in Canada.”
Sorry, Philip, no mention of Liberal Dr. B’s SexToys’R'Moi.
As for the link, Philip, it seems to have gone up in Castro’s Havanas. Yes, R smokes Havanas, survey says.
G*d bless Lord Monckton. ‘Hope he fully recovers from the thug tactics of the Danish police.

From the reaction on Power & Politics, this could end up being a win for Stephen Harper. Don Martin actually had some positive things to say just now.
Well, I call VICTORY for the PM and Minister Prentice in Copenhagen.
1. 130 (?) countries are part of the accord, including developing nations, not just developed nations as it was under Kyoto. That means big emitters like China, the US, India, Brazil are part of the Cop Accord.
2. Targets will be set within the confines of OUR economy, based from 2006 forward. In other words, forget about Kyoto and its pie-in-the-sky targets.
3. Close cooperation with our largest trading partner, the US.
4. No binding targets, thus no penalties.
5. No dollar figure on Canada’s contribution to the special fund for developing nations. I humbly submit my proposal
outline in the previous thread. Each country contributes a figure equal to its emission percentages.
• China $21.5 Billion producing 21.5% of total GHG emissions (2006 data)
• US $20.2 Billion for its 20.2% of GHG emissions
• EU $13.8 Billion
• Russia $5.5 Billion
• India $5.3 Billion
• Japan $4.6 Billion
• Canada $1.9 Billion
Note to the CBC’s Terry Milewski: Canada is NOT one of the largest emitters, as he said in asking the PM a question. The PM should have corrected him, IMO, but he was in quite a conciliatory mood.
Terry, please get up to speed on the facts: Canada’s emissions are a mere 1.9% – 2% of total global emissions. I think I’ll post that last bit at the CBC Power & Politics site.
Gabby, that was an awesome summary and commentary!
Well looks like HM PM Stephen Harper played rope-a-dope with the usual suspects it’s been very quiet nothing from the her Majesties loyal opposition, oh other than Caroyln Bennett using her considerable influence and intellect to launch a “product safety review” of various and sundry adult toys, you go Grrril!
Seriously now this is a watershed moment at which we were fortunate to have both a strong, sagacious leader at home and a weak, feckless one next door. Looks Like POTUS seriously offended his debt holders The Communist Chinese.
I’m celebrating by reposting my take on Dopenhagen
Our PM got EVERYTHING he wanted.
We take home the Colosal Fossil with pride,
this calls for a parade….!
-No Kyoto
-No cap and trade
-Every country sets their own targets, and promise to meet them by providing a to-do list to Santa Claus, to be reviewed by the elves sometime next year
-Every country on the planet has to do errrr something about their ghgs, but NO binding agreement
-20/2020 is Canada’s confirmed and accepted MAXIMUM targets, cuz we all know that once the 17/2020 goes to the US lawmakers, O will be lucky to get half that target
wahooooooo
This has worked out great for Canada! Tune into CBC. It’s hilarious!
Let the naysayers continue wagging their fingers – but if you want a change of pace and scenery, look at some of the Christmas cards sent by our politicians here: http://www.cbc.ca/photogallery/canada/2835/
Regardless of their parties, it is heartwarming to see so many kids. I especially liked Stockwell Day’s.
I get a kick out of the CBC commercials where they are touting their news as “news better” – I guess if LYING is doing it better; they are right on track.
I really wonder if they know any better or if they lie on purpose – can they all be that stupid??
Maybe they all live in a bubble where only leftist – anti Harper facts are piped into their heads because they all do it.
It boggles my mind.
I wonder how they sleep at night knowing they are lying to Canadians.
It’s so disgusting to watch the likes of David McGuinty, Liberal environment critic and real expert NOT, spouting off about the Harper government not having a plan, even worse, the MSM talking heads let him a way with it. Did he criticize their adored one, Obama? No. Didn’t they do exactly what PM Harper said some two years ago they must do, either all in or all out?
It’s an uphill battle for a government when the media are playing games hiding and skewing the facts.
Liberal Iffy’s Christmas Greeting.
…-
Iffy:
“I’m angry, let me put it that way, at the way I’ve been described by my opponents. I’m not visiting. This is my goddamn country. Get out of here,” he fumes.”
P.S. “As for his physical and mental well-being, Ignatieff says dismissively, “I feel good, actually. I feel fine.”
Iffy’s New Year Resolution:
“… in the new year Ignatieff is resolved to show off muscle of a different sort – his brain power.”
Pollster says: “”He’s kind of got to eat a live rat on stage in order to get you (media) guys’ attention.”

…-
Go home, Iffy.
I think this is another one to add to PM Harper’s ‘how does he do it?’ file.
Judging by the lack of interest Iffy is showing in the detainee issue,
that one will soon be filed there too.
Leftists in retreat.
Here is the real news:
O = Bush.
“*Obama has eliminated any difference between him and Bush.”"
…-
“Low targets, goals dropped: Copenhagen ends in failure
Deal thrashed out at talks condemned as climate change scepticism in action”
“Lumumba Di-Aping, chief negotiator for the G77 group of 130 developing countries, was scathing: “This deal will definitely result in massive devastation in Africa and small island states. It has the lowest level of ambition you can imagine. It’s nothing short of climate change scepticism in action.
“It locks countries into a cycle of poverty for ever. Obama* has eliminated any difference between him and Bush.”"

CBC and only CBC has yet another detainee story up. Afghan prisoner was kept in jail for longer than 96 hours, given iced water bottles, but claims of ‘torture at the hands of Cdn soldiers’ because temp got up to 60 degrees. I won’t link, but will comment this:
”Tank interior temperatures, according to that CBC article, may reach a punishing 65°C. ”
I heard something about that too! That Canadian soldiers were at fault here.

CHEERS for our PM and Jim Prentice.
All those idiot protesters that want socialism and to shut down capitalism should look at the results of said actions.
Didn’t Rhodesia used to be a rather great country. Look at it and Zimbabwai. Same county, one with capitalism and one without. Where would you rather live.
Waiting for that tickertape parade showing off our Fossil of the Year, and Fossil of the Day awards.
“This agreement is the result of two weeks of negotiations in which Canada and Environment Minister Prentice, our chief negotiator, played a key part.” PMSH
No wonder Canada was targeted by the environuts,
what they feared happened,
Canada shaped the entire agreement and got rid of Kyoto!
Well done Minister Prentice!
Hooray, the Global Swindle is over and all it cost us is expenses for hoards of CBC employees to roam slamming Canada for 2 weeks. Thankyou Stephen Harper!!!
Merry Christmas to everyone at Blue Like You and let us count our blessings. The moral support gives me strength to get through these nutty times for Canada. Thankyou!
Iffy gives a year end interview:
”Moreover, Mr. Ignatieff said it is the government’s responsibility, not the Opposition’s, to propose a plan to eliminate the deficit that it created.”
OMG, I can’t believe he is going to go down the exact same path he went with the stimulus budget!
Harper gets to wear the recession,
Harper gets to wear the recovery……..
LOL, the latter is going to work out for Iffy the same as the first.
Merry Christmas PMSH and family, enjoy.
Everyone should Clap for PM Harper, he looked out for Canadians, and he always has on this issue..
I knew the PM would not let us down. My thoughts weeks ago, in response to Justin Hoffer..
http://www.bloggingtories.ca/forums/topic8496.html
(Scroll down to the last post on the first page..)
PM Harper has done a great job. As to the MSM smearing PM Harper on this issue, well he has, is doing a great job dealing with the MSM propaganda on this issue. The response from the MSM was very predictable..
PS:The fight on climatechange has only begun remeber that…
PPS:Being Canadain, and taking home the fossil of the year award, brings a tear to my eye. Bravo
“It’s an uphill battle for a government when the media are playing games hiding and skewing the facts.”
Liz J. So true !
I am beyond disgusted with the way the media treats Conservatives in general and PM Harper in particular. It is so badly skewed.
I, for one, am pushing back. I’ve had trouble with being too ‘backward to come forward’ but I’m getting over it and how! So far, I’ve made 3 responses to articles at the G&M. Of course, I’m getting tons of ‘thumbs down’ but I don’t care. It does me good to stand up to their blatant bias. And maybe, just maybe some one will notice there really IS another side to the story.
Oh and I’m spending as much free time as I can with my agree/disagree options. Doing my part.
I, for one, am pushing back. I’ve had trouble with being too ‘backward to come forward’ but I’m getting over it and how!
Good for you Shrug!! That’s what I like to see – ordinary Canadians saying they’re going to start getting involved. Excellent.
Here’s some Christmas bon mots from the Iggster : “We’re dealing with Stephen Harper and his capacity for poison pills, for game playing”. Well, hello! Who’s playing the games?
Then this: “They don’t have a plan to get out of deficit”. Well, hello! They have explained that one too, people who are employed will grow the economy for starters. The most obtuse statement of all: “The burden isn’t on me, I’m in the opposition”. Yeah, right, he’s the leader of the Opposition and has no alternate plan to offer. Criticism that doesn’t come with a viable alternative means they’ve got nothing to offer. Why would anyone vote for a pig in a poke?
The same old line coming forth from the Liberals about the Conservatives squandering the surplus which the Liberals think was THEIRS to “squander”. They haven’t gotten over the fact the Conservatives have given us back a bit of OUR own money. Surpluses come from taxation/overtaxation, something the Liberals know well how to do.
“eat a live rat on stage to get attention” Hmm Maz2 I guess that is one way probably coming up with some actual policies rather than juvenile posturing and scandal mongering along with the reporters than join in on the “scandal du jour” rather pathetic really certainly not what a real leader would do. Very divisive for the country, effective Government requires a vigorous, focused opposition, if the Liberals, who are the ones playing the games by the way would get over themselves have a leadership convention where the rank and file actually get to vote they would be in a very different place 4 or 5 years from now. Winning is a habit, so is losing.
I was very chagrined to see two provinces at Copenhagen attempt to throw Alberta under the bus, with the help of the usual suspects in the lamestream media, shamefully and stupidly partisan. I had faith in PM Harper. I would like to say I was very apprehensive about the outcome, the green meanies had been preparing for this for a long time, whoever outed “Mann made global warming fraud” in my estimation provided a real boost, the wind in our sails as it were, thank you. As for Hm Pm Stephen Harper and Environment Minister Prentice a heartfelt thank-you in a very Canadian way you “Got ‘er done” PM Harper looked tireder than I have seen him look, I hope he gets some much needed and deserved rest and that he has a good Christmas with his lovely family.
The image I have of Robert Mugabe who is not allowed in most Countries daring to call the west “Hypocrites” is a snapshot of what has happened to the U.N., it is no less than a hijacking.
The U.N. has no moral authority as long as the tin-pot tyrants of the world are given a soap box to rant from.
I see a huge steel plant in England is closing 1700 good jobs gone, TaTa who owned the plant will now get billions in carbon credits for not “polluting” move to Pakistan or India where controls are non existent and there you go, another “green dream” that turned into a nightmare.
My wishes for the new year a Conservative majority and the C.B.C. off government funding. A long post but God bless you all at Blue like You nice to share thoughts and hear from all of you.
Push back example. One columnist was going on and on how our democracy is being destroyed right before our eyes by, you guessed it, this government. I responded by suggesting he read the full Wiki ‘Adscam’ entry and then follow up with this:
http://andrewcoyne.com/columns/NationalPost/2002/20020417.html
Lest we forget.;)
Yeah, right, he’s the leader of the Opposition and has no alternate plan to offer. Criticism that doesn’t come with a viable alternative means they’ve got nothing to offer. Why would anyone vote for a pig in a poke?
Liz J, the Liberals still haven’t gotten over the shock they’re no longer in power, and still feel as if they are the “Natural Governing Party. They can’t wrap their heads around the fact that times have changed, and things that may have worked during the Conservative schism no longer do.
