ToryBoy’s latest truth ad – ‘Disgusting’ comment from Iggy

Excellent new HD truth ad out from The ToryBoy regarding comments Michael Ignatieff made in 2005. Enjoy.

My first impression of the content mirrored a comment on a recent Rabble discussion board:

So the Lib leader finds Canada “disgusting” and the Greens leader thinks Canadians are “stupid”.

I now pronounce you Man and Wife.

Update: H/T to Robins111 for this one – Ignatieff wrong to blame our military: Lorne Gunter

  1. Bubba Brown says:

Another day another Brain Fart courtesy of Mr Ignatieff, kinda rich that his Liberal party was in power at the time of his remarks, “the truth shall set us free” Meanwhile Miky is moaning and pissing about “being ready to go the first week in June, but those darn Conservatives” etc. Like his “hero” POTUS he seems to think the Harvard thing allows unlimited pie-hole flapping, facts be dammed, boring really.

  2. Liz J says:

Sure didn’t sound like Mikey had much thought about running for the party of Pearson and Trudeau when he made those comments. Pearson, the Nobel Peace Prize recipient, would be dumbfounded at such remarks.

If Canada was “disgusting” to him then, what would he do to change things now?

  3. robins111 says:

I was in the military when Trudeau was PM. during that time, the number of regular forces dropped exponentially.

We were driving 30 year old trucks, equipment was often held together by Duct tape and wire.

But we still did the jobs that were asked of us, in spite of being treated like trash.

Iggy sniveled his way into the leadership of a party which would disregard the safety of Canadians to further their ideological agenda.

The Liberals deserve this shallow, insignificent schoolboy as a leader.

  4. MaryT says:

OT, but worth noting, the Supreme Court has ruled that Hutterites must have photo ID on drivers licenses. Considering how often we see them on tv, or in the papers, their argument they can’t have their photo taken was a mute argument.
Also, watching the evacuations in BC, and hearing how people are loading cars, trucks etc., if they all had smart or electric cars, with limited seating, how would they manage.
As for the marriage, who would/did propose the toast to the happy merger-Boag, Layton, or maybe lizzie herself.
Seems O has picked up some bad habits from Biden re dumb comments.

  5. Fay says:

Right on ToryBoy! This is your best truth ad so far. I love it and Canadians need to know what iggy really thinks.

  6. east of eden says:

Off-topic. I sure am glad that we have great defenders of the oppressed and vulnerable. I am so glad that our extreme feminists and the left-wing liberal bleeding-hearts are here to provide an equitable environment for all. And, really, let’s all embrace diversity.

Seriously, women fought long and hard to bring equality and respect to their gender. And then we let this happen to our country. I, for one, am sick of it and I will not embrace diversity if it includes this type of diversity which happens way too often in our once-safe country.

  8. Michael Harkov says:

    Bam!

  9. PnR says:

Have to agree with Iggy on this one. The chronic underfunding of the military made Canada’s claim to be effective “peacekeepers” completely bogus.

The fact the previous governments made the spending decisions that they did was absolutely disgusting.

I really don’t give two hoots about what a public figure said in the past – I demand to know what they have to say about the future. Unfortunately NONE of the current leaders have been able to articulate a vision for our country.

  10. Lorraine says:

“It is going to be a tough, long, hard slog to get this country back to full employment and Mr. Carney is hinting at that we are not out of the woods yet,” agreed, Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff, repeating his call for expansion of employment insurance benefits.”

FULL employment???? Even in boom times the unemployment rate in Canada hovers around 6%.

It is now about 3% above that at around 9% – which it was for most of the previous decade and without a recession as high as 11% under the Chretien Liberals.
Was it a tough long slog THEN requiring huge knee jerk changes to EI?
Does this mean Ignatieff won’t be happy until every single person in Canada is working? When the norm is 6% considered to be darn good?

  11. Soccermom says:

Boy, Iffy really stepped in it this time, didn’t he?

He is a complete joke. Reminding me more and more of Joke Clark every day.

  12. Bec says:

Wow, this one has truly left me speechless.

I recommended a barrel ride over Niagara @ Paul’s site and now I am thinking the LPoC’s, ‘Powers that be’ may want to consider this option.
The Brogue is consistently planted firmly in the Counts’ mouth.
You either make history or you ARE history.
How ironic all of this is, hmm?

  13. wilson says:

Before the summer break ‘back down’ by Iffy on EI360, wasn’t he grinding PMSH for the size of the deficit? Oh yes he was!

Now Iffy wants MORE stimulus….while attacking PMSH because the first stimulus package hasn’t ‘gone out the door’!
Economists are worried about inflation from too much stimulus.
But Iffy is ‘steady as she goes’.

”Canada still needs more stimulus spending AND expanded employment insurance despite the Bank of Canada’s declaration that the country is moving out of recession, Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff says.”
    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ignatieff-pushes-more-stimulus/article1229628/

Maybe Iffy’s strategy is to keep his numbers low so as to not have to bring down the Cons….being low in the polls is better than going into an election you can not win.

  14. Joanne says:

Wilson @ #13, you’re right! This is just so hypocritical (and typical) of him.

  15. robins111 says:

Good article regarding this at the Edmonton Journal, by Lorne Gunter

    http://www.edmontonjournal.com/news/Ignatieff+wrong+blame+military/1806167/story.html

  16. Joanne says:

Great link, Robins111. Thanks for that.

  17. Bec says:

    robins111 @# 15

That was terrific! Thank you very much. A brilliant expose of an astonishing hypocrisy.

Michael, are you sure you don’t want to sit as an Independent?
We are okay that comments 20 years ago, only apply to Conservatives but this was the year that you were promised the moon….and accepted.

  18. Richco says:

Hey, don’t complain…you were the ones missing Iggy:-)

He’s giving you what you want…more ammo. in his own words. Beautiful!

Who among the Sr. Liberals is responsible for sealing the deal to bring Iggy back to a country that “disgusts” him so much? Do we have names? Who took all the glory when it was being spun how great a find Iggy was?

  19. Liz J says:

Kinsella’s still slogging away for Iggy but his smarts are not proving to be so sharp when he hasn’t got the backup of the old stalwarts of the party to take up the slack. His talents were overblown, people should have clued in when he had to resort to using stuffed animals as props, that was the beginning of his down slide.

Looks like Iggy could be moaning the old elitist tune, “it’s hard to get good help theses days”.

  20. Bec says:

Yup…everyone eventually takes a path. A GREAT footnote in history or…a has been.

Based on the paranoid, angry antics on that unnamed ‘strategists’ (hrumph) site, I would say that the BBD has passed and the milk has indeed soured.

  21. Liz J says:

That’s the thing about both Iggy and Dion before him, they both provide material for truth ads which serve to show just how gosh darned out of the loop they are. Actually out of their league in the political arena more like.

Yeah,Bec, we’re dealing with no names and outdated BB’s, not a good omen.

  22. Joanne says:

Very cool story here about PM Harper and his daughter meeting the cast of Grease.

  23. frmgrl says:

Joanne@22, that is a cool story. Why hasn’t the MSM covered this story?

They covered the wafer story etc and others. Not this one. Oh, maybe they couldn’t find anything to spin this into something negative about the PM.

I think I just answered my own question. lol

  24. qwerty1 says:

To report the Grease story the MSM would title it as “PM touches little Asian girl!!!”

  25. gimbol says:

    Liz @ 19

    Kinsella is being set up.

There is some of the old guard that are betting Ignatieff may be a bigger disaster than Dion and are going to use WK as the reason.
    Why?
That way when its Igg’s time to step out of the big chair he will do so with the excuse that it was “someone” elses fault….that and there are some senior liberals that have a score to settle with WK.
Gee, I wonder who brought these two together?

  26. Liz J says:

Joanne @22, imagine the coverage if it were a Liberal PM and his daughter. They’d be splashed all over every newspaper and TV news in the country. It’s too positive for their agenda.

  27. Liz J says:

…..or even if Iggy were to show up ANYWHERE, in any setting, with any of his offspring….FLASH!

  28. Jason Bo Green says:

I, for one, am sick of it and I will not embrace diversity if it includes this type of diversity which happens way too often in our once-safe country.

Right…. As if pro-diversity crowds are in favor of honor killings…

  29. Enkidu says:

Not ‘in favour’ perhaps, JBG, but decidedly unwilling to offend Muslims by actually doing or even saying something about it.
