…for providing us with an example of quality journalism today – Harper’s G8 hat trick.
I hope that some of your colleagues take note.

Friday Update:
Chris Selley chastises his media friends on Wafergate (H/T Wilson):
…Attempts at making this story relevant are tortuous: it’ll complicate Mr. Harper’s upcoming meeting with the Pope; it’s an affront to multiculturalism; it’s an impediment to the Conservatives’ minority outreach efforts. Rubbish. It’s just humourless gotcha journalism, of a type that’s far too often practiced in a country with real problems to solve and rapidly shrinking numbers of journalists to investigate and report on them.
Witness the lead article on the Star’s front page on Thursday, as Canada and 32 other industrialized nations were agreeing to cut greenhouse gas emissions by a whopping 80 per cent by 2050: “Late again! PM holds up G8,” the headline crowed. He had been last to arrive — as even Mr. Harper’s most ardent opponents will admit someone must be — for a leaders’ photo-op. He trailed Barack Obama by roughly 100 seconds. In other words, as spectacularly unimportant as Wafergate is, just 24 hours later they managed to find something even less important to put on the marquee. In its own depressing way, that’s bloody impressive.
But we shouldn’t just blame MSM for such shallow behaviour. What’s sad here is that the memory of a great Canadian has been exploited and diminished by these despicable tactics.
And when even Dominic LeBlanc himself expressed regret for the embarrassment that the PM might be experiencing, you just have to wonder why a certain Liberal strategist who supposedly had deep affection for the former GG would continue to poke a stick during the family’s time of sorrow for strictly partisan purposes.
Why is politics today such a turnoff? - Simon Jackson, CBC

I was going to mention this column, but got an invitation to lunch. Glad you picked it up.
What is happening, positive news about our PM.
I got stuck on the FANTASTIC picture of what would appear to be, a jovial exchange.
It’s nice to know that we have this superior individual, leading us through these choppy waters and representing us with class, intelligence and dignity.
Kudos to Mr Spector, for an excellent piece of journalism.
ps to Mary T
What? Lunch trumps BLY posting? lol Very cute!
Thankyou Norman Spector!! Thankyou Joanne for presenting the positive coverage of this great Prime Minister. Also pleased to see positive polls come out for the Conservative government of Canada.
Fay – re: the polls, that Angus Reid one is especially promising.

“REPUBLICANS FOR IGNATIEFF PRAISES MICHAEL IGNATIEFF FOR DEFENDING GEORGE W. BUSH IN RECENTLY-DISCOVERED AUDIO CLIP(sic)
* Liberal leader said human rights and the promotion of democracy was a central feature of the Bush Administration
* Names Bush alongside human rights leaders Eleanor Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt and Jimmy Carter
JULY 9, 2009 — Republicans for Ignatieff, an international online community for Republican supporters of Michael Ignatieff, the new Leader of Canada’s Liberal Party, today released a recently-discovered audio clip of Michael Ignatieff publicly defending former President George W. Bush and naming him alongside other great human rights leaders.
Speaking to an audience at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland in January 2005, Ignatieff admitted he was courting controversy when he said:
“Don’t forget that the speech by a U.S. President that most directly committed the United States to the promotion of human rights and democracy in the Arab world was given by George W. Bush.”
Ignatieff’s naming of Bush immediately followed his references to human rights leaders Eleanor Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt and Jimmy Carter.
Ignatieff also told his audience that “human rights and the promotion of democracy” was a “central feature” of the Bush Administration.

Bec, when the invitation comes from my g/son, yes, it takes prioity. But, these lunches usually end up when it comes time to pay he will look at his wallet and point and say, grandma’s purse. He is a number one con artist.
I have been on the Angus Reid list for over 2 yrs, but the last few questionaires I got had nothing to do with voting. So if those answering this one are not normally considered conservative voters it is really telling.
Remember when the Conservative Party came out with its targets of reducing GHGs by 20% by 2020, and 50+% by 2050? Remember the reactions? Guffaws from PM Harper’s critics, to the effect he would be 90+ years old or dead by then, so those targets were meaningless, according to those sages.
Remember too, when the PM argued that EVERY country had to pull its weight in combatting climate change how they called him a denier? And how they referred to his anti-Kyoto letter as proof positive that he was a climate change denier?
Well, now that Barack Obama and other G8 leaders are saying more or less the same things PM Harper has been saying all along, NOW there’s talk of some “important strides forward.”
Funny, eh?
I am very sad today and we should all be ashamed. The Canadian Liberal media has jumped the shark on the world stage with their small minded nit picking personal attacks on our leader, including the host issue being “reported” by them to the international media.
How can our country be considered credible or even a player with the big issues facing the world when we have gotcha tabloid reporters telling our “story”.
PM Harper did us proud BUT that is now what the “news” is all about today. Photo ops and communion protocol at a funeral???
There IS a breaking point and I believe this is it. Time for ALL Canadians to demand better. These media with their hands out to the taxpayer because somehow they are important to us???
I say it is time to revolt because this is truly revolting.
If anyone feels so inclined please email Norman Spector or the Globe and thank them for publishing an actual worthwhile item.
Mary T @# 6
Ah yes, they have us by the heart strings! Lovely story, Mary T.
Yes, I agree, Joanne @# 10. If we are inclined to complain, we should also compliment.
Peter Harris on Global News at 5:30 this evening: another smart aXX reporter. He begins his report with a photo of the G8 leaders. Then he says, whoa wait, Stephen Harper is not there. He then says the leaders had to wait around for two minutes until Harper showed up. He ends his report by reminding the audience that this was not the first time Harper was late for the photo op, that Harper missed the last one altogether.
For this reporter, that was the story as shown by his beginning and ending. Where do they find these idiots!!
I agree with you Lorraine. The PM did the country proud.
I also find if interesting that the PM was just two minutes behind Obama in making it to the G8 photo-op…Obama was late also…yet no slamming against him.
Spector gets it right.
All it proves to me is that the Liberals and their war room are desperate, and likely slowly coming to the realization that their leader’s a dud.
It’s a distraction that the MSM was only too glad to get suckered in by the Liberals.

What will Spinsella say now?:
Wafergate: The sequel
”The priest who delivered the homily at the funeral mass of former governor-general Romeo LeBlanc said Stephen Harper behaved properly when he took part in the communion service last week.
“The Prime Minister did consume the host; he did not put it in his pocket,” said Father Arthur Bourgeois, who had been a friend of Mr. LeBlanc for 30 years….
“We were so flattered that the Prime Minister took the time to come down so we feel embarrassed by the whole controversy he faced,” he said.

PM Harper makes me cringe every time he agrees with “climate change”. Sheeeesh.
But who the hell else can I vote for? They’re all idiots!
Soccermom, he can’t be the only leader in the G8 to disagree. However, he is happy that the U.S. is finally in agreement and that they will be pressuring the developing nations which only makes sense. Otherwise it is all pointless anyway.
He shouldn’t be happy that the U.S. is in agreement. That just makes things worse. Now we HAVE to go along with this farce, just as we HAD to bail out GM and Chrysler and we HAD to blow billions in stimulus.
This conservative gal is not happy right now.
The cherry on top would be if Harper ever gets a majority and he still goes along with this crap. Then I’ll know he’s a world-class kool-aid drinker. He’s only getting a pass from lots of conservatives (that’s small ‘c’) because of this stinkin minority.
I know the circumstances suck, but I hope (please God, please) that he’s a very good actor.
Yet another journalist sick of gotch stories too:
Chris Selley: Wafer ‘scandal’ sinks political reporting to new lows:

Re: Obama and the so called by the scammers “man made” climate change greenhouse gas emmisions reductions measures:
Already Americans are realizing what devastation the Obama cap and trade bill is going to wreak on them. Unlike Canada their media is not one huge Liberal /Democrat worshipping monolith.
Some use their own brains and investigate reality.
The murmers will soon become a roar. Obama may be sucking up the the United Nations and noisy well funded special interest groups by his appeasement climate change posturing but soon reality will even hit the Democrats when then try to get reelected.
Not all Americans are Obama sheep or blind Al Gore worshipers.
Canada has the smallest carbon footprint of all G22 countries by population compared to land mass. We are 2% of the entire manmade emmisions in the world. The per capita numbers are a shell game to extract money and I somehow think that Harper knows the house of cards will come tumbling down sooner rather than later.
Unlike Canada their media is not one huge Liberal /Democrat worshipping monolith.
Some use their own brains and investigate reality.
Heh. Well, we’ll include Lorrie Goldstein and Lorne Gunter in the latter group (and especially Lorrie.)
Just noticed the spelling error at #6. Guess I am eligible for a job at the White House (Drudge, more spelling errors from WH staff)
Just think, if PMSH could get a several seat majority, we could have 4-5 yrs of him ignoring climate change. So, all deniers should vote conservative. I do think the next election will have the ballot question, PMSH majority or coalition majority. At one time a minority govt was not such a bad thing, but that was when the opposition acted like adults and the Speaker kept control.
Is Power Play gone for the summer, or for good.
And, does anyone have video of Iggy at the funeral. The day before he was in Winnipeg dissing Harper.

A big thankyou to Norman Spector for publishing an actual “news story” but then he is a “Journalist” the other whack jobs can go back to obsessing over the latest celebrity crisis in Hollyweird.
On a positive note PMSH is recognized as a World class leader, out there in the real world. He pretty much ignores the striden, spiteful, uniformed, squallers the same way he handled the pile on at the “leaders debate” I was always puzzled as to why Elizabeth May was included, she has no MP’s, no class, she is not a leader. Has nothing of value to add to the discussion. I guess thats why the scribblers in the MSM feel so comfortable with her. Birds of a feather doncha know.

Soccermom if your a global warming skeptic(like myself), this is a fist pumper.
The best G&M comment on this from the Spector article. This comment just sumed up my thoughts on this climate deal.
Delphicoracle said…
“The over-riding target has shifted ever so subtly from reducing CO2 to containing temperature. Accordingly, if the climate cools (as it presently doing already) over the next 10 years the target will be accomplished without any need for C02 reductions at all.”
Brilliant.
Well Wilson at #15, Mr. Kinsella himself has written that he is not about to give up this issue of the Communion wafer. He has posted the video in question again. What is he going to say now that the priest who was there says the PM consummed it and that he and the family were happy that he was there?
Just like with that cat meat fiasco; Mr Kinsella just can’t seem to realize that the hole is getting deeper – but he just won’t stop digging.

Someone in the Liberal fold should rein in Kinsella but who?
It’s stooping to the lowest depths of political gamesmanship to continue to drum on, even after the matter has been clarified by the Archbishop who served communion. The PM did nothing wrong.
Mr K can take the Liberal party as low as he wishes but dragging the Church back to the dark ages is another matter. We’ve seen much more tolerance and inclusion among our Christian faiths over the past fifty years and it’s growing. Kinsella is insulting his church as much as he’s trying to hurt the PM and the Conservatives.
BTW, Iggy was in London where he gave the Liberal International’s annual Isaiah Berlin Lecture on Wednesday night. Colby Cosh gives a rundown in the National Post: “Once an Intellectual”. Sounds like Iggy is deeply in professorial mode.
OT, Colby really disses Iggy’s speech in London. NNW.
Seems like even the usually Harper bashing Barbara Yaffe is not buying into this “wafergate” nonsense either.
So Warren, give it up.
http://www.vancouversun.com/technology/Protestant+takes+wafer+Catholic+service+fuss/1777939/story.html
Hadn’t read your comment re Colby Liz. Our GG ate seal when offered, our PM takes Communion when offered, but Mrs. Brown snubs veal. Who has more class.
Several articles this a.m. re the PM and Communion. If the purpose of these articles is to make all us Catholics mad, it isn’t working.
I am more upset at all the liberal Catholics that have supported numerous sp rights and still go to Communion.
I am going to watch O and family visit the Pope. Wonder how his wife will pull a no-no there, like she did with the Queen. Also wonder if she will have her 6,000.00 purse with her or wear a headcovering.
Another thought on the contiuing stories on the LeBlanc funeral. Maybe those liberal bigwigs are afraid of Dominic trying for another run at the leadership, and if they can cause rifts between him and the strategists, he will never make it. Well, we could encourage him to cross the floor, that would fix them.
PMSH on cbc now, doing presser with msm…waiting for Roger Smith to ask the deep, penetrating question(he seems obsessed with the topic)..’Prime Minister, why were you late again for the photo op,and why can’t you be on time? Canada needs to know, because isn’t that what these meetings are all about? Don’t you know, that for all of Canada and the world, the most pressing issue in this global economic crisis, the Iranian meltdown,N.Korea missile crisis, the war in Iraq, and Afghanistan, our troops still being killed…and you are late for the photo op?And what about ‘wafergate’? Mr.Prime Minister..please can you tell Canadians, why you were late, because,God forbid,I would actually have to do some work,on some real stories!’
I guess Canada is in pretty great shape, and PMSH is doing a tremendous job,if photogate is the topic of the day!
I guess Canada is in pretty great shape, and PMSH is doing a tremendous job,if photogate is the topic of the day!
Yes indeed!
True to form…Torstar reporter Tonda asks PMSH to comment on the ‘Pride Parade’ story, and ‘Wafergate’
YOU HAVE GOT TO HEAR HIS RESPONSE,HE STATES ‘AS A CHRISTIAN,I’VE NEVER REFUSED COMMUNION,IT’S IMPORTANT TO ME.FOR SOMEONE IN MEDIA TO REPOST THAT I PUT IT IN MY POCKET IS A LOW POINT IN JOURNALISM’ Wow! And good on you,PMSH,for setting these morons straight.
0ops,’repost’ should read ‘report’…also,PMSH gave hilarious resonse to question about Berlosconi! On ctv now.
Loved the way the PM handled the Communion thing, and called it a low point in the msm.
Did I imagine it, or did he finally get a little angry. Also, he got great response when he said he had weaknesses but not the same ones the Italian PM had, and would never be accussed of that. And for being in his 70s, the Italian PM is in great shape.
Wonder who the photographer was that caught O looking at that lady with the purple dress, and the Italian PM smiling.
Calgary Grit thinks he is being funny with his post today. Isn’t it fashionable to be late, and as mentioned someone is always the last to arrive. Who was the first to arrive for photogate. If our PM was first the media would say he was impatient or something.
Good for PM Harper!
Could we go as far as to say Kinsella is making a circus out of the whole thing? It was a funeral, why would anyone even be looking for something of this nature? The chain of events as reported look almost like a set-up, at the very least they were looking for something to get on the PM. It’s almost as if the Liberal backroom loonies were angry he was even there.
Is Dominic angry enough to really lash out at them?
Wonderful that the PM is fighting back in the best way possible….humble honesty.
It certainly does make the liberals look as scheming and desperate as ever.
As I wrote earlier as a Catholic myself what offends me most of all as a human being is that some lowlife found it necessary to use a man’s funeral for political gamesmanship.
It would appear that even the Liberal media today understands how in poor taste the moving of “wafergate” was, and how important the truth, from those who were there (Kinsella excluded) including Liberals, a priest and the deadman’s own son saw nothing improper or offensive done by the PM.
The odd man out in all of this is the da Prince himself. Sure not the guy of those good books these days.

On first glance, the snapshot appears to show President Obama caught in a moment of less than lofty analysis. Poor little Iggy, Roger Smith and CTV will protect you. I listened to the sound of relief from Roger Smith when he joyously bashed the Prime Minister on attacking poor IGGY. He was promptly cut off CTV News Net when he began to report some positives from the news conference for Canada. CTV working for the Liberal Party all the time.
I’d like to know if taxpayer’s money is funding Iggy’s book promoting tour. That would be a scandal.
I am going to post this at Stephen Taylor’s as well, under the thread “Introduction to Canadian media and politics.”
Amid all the noise about the eucharistic host being consumed or not, the PM’s tardiness at G8 meetings, speculation on whether he had gone to the loo again, and all other such irrelevant matters, this information went completely unnoticed.
I saw Bob Geldof a while back in a snippet of a news report where he said Canada had bested its aid promises to poor nations.
Now, I’m not a fan of rich stars who pontificate on how rich nations should help others, but then hypocritically pursue their own very rich and excessive lifestyles.
Had Geldof dissed Canada, I’d bet the media reports would be wall-to-wall. But … has much attention been paid to Canada meeting its aid commitments?
I’ve listed some of the few reports I could find on this topic. You may notice of the 5, only two are from Canadian sources. I find that telling.

Jennifer wraps up the interview, and it’s been replayed so I didn’t hear it wrong..with,”that’s Bob Rae,LEADER of the Liberal Party”…Bob doesn’t correct her,in fact it sounds like he’s kind of snickering!

oops, sorry, missed Maz2′s link! Yes, she’s a gigantic woman (I don’t mean fat, just a really big woman).
re: “next scandal”
All this proves is that the PM, like Mr. Ignatieff have people working for them who make mistakes. How many false information bits has Iggy used since his coronation? Likely too many to count.
The mistake has been acknowledged by the PMO.
That’s good enough for me, and most Canadians I suspect who have had enough of this type of politics.
Believe me folks. No one’s tuning in to CTV anymore…well, except those who like to torture themselves.
Will Iggy demand an apology from ctv for referring to Rae as leader. Will he demote Rae for not correcting her. And the PM has already corrected his comments re Iggy.

The Liberal toadies in the MSM will be trying everything they can to upstage the PM’s successes at the G8. They’re already at it with petty crap.
That video showing the PM taking the host is a perfect example of a Liberal attack ad filled with lies. It is the lowest of the lows. This is quite a contrast to the Conservative ads that speak to the truth. Let the Liberals talk about attack ads so we can shove this video in their faces. They own the “real” attack ads.
What’s happening!! Another Conservative brochure in the mail today. Good for them!! They must be listening to BLY. Finally, the Quebecois are receiving the Conservative point of view. Hopefully, these brochures will counter the numerous Bloc ones and the many Liberal ones.
In this brochure, as in the previous one, you’ll be happy to know that the focus is on what the Conservatives have done to date. This time it refers to the 2009 budget and how it is helping Quebec families. A list of these positive measures is provided. In essence, it says Quebec families obtain results with the Conservative government.
In smaller print, it points out that the Bloc intentions were that each member vote against these positive measures for Quebec families. It ends by saying that, sadly, the Bloc members listen to Duceppe.
It’s all about communications. Finally, the Quebecois will hear the other side of the story.
Further; the Conservatives should, IMHO, be out in the Quebec communities getting essential exposure, providing information about their party, giving the Quebecois an opportunity to get to know them. This is what the Bloc does constantly throughout the province.
These latest Conservative brochures are both positive and critical. They list Conservative measures while pointing out the differences with the opposition. I believe these type of “truth ads” are the way to go.
The signature on this leaflet is Tom Lukiwski.
I have completely given up on the MSM. I just can’t stomach reading them anymore. It is amazing to think that at one time, not that long ago, I was such an avid reader of news and current affairs.
Maybe every news story should include a reader response to vote for This is the Dumbest Story of the Day. Obviously, news organizations and journalists are unable to differentiate between real news and stupid news.
Has anyone noticed that for all their talk of culture and sophistication, the media behave in the most uncivilized fashion. For instance – they took a solemn and meaningful occasion, the funeral of a former GG, and turned it into a circus. PMSH’s gesture of respect and empathy to the man and his family was trashed and turned into a “scandal”. To me this shows the true classless and uncivilized nature of the MSM. Yet they will continue to classify the middle/working class, conservatives and rural people as hicks, hillbillies, bible-thumpers and rednecks. Go figure.
Jennifer wraps up the interview, and it’s been replayed so I didn’t hear it wrong..with,”that’s Bob Rae,LEADER of the Liberal Party”…Bob doesn’t correct her,in fact it sounds like he’s kind of snickering!
Yep! You’re right Sammy. I just watched it again.
Ha-ha. I wonder if Iggy realizes he’s been replaced?
Frmgrl @62 – Thanks for that Phantom link. So it seems that some ‘unnamed academic’ actually said the quote that had been wrongly attributed to Ignatieff.
Well, we’ll see what Iggy does. We know Bob Rae plans to milk it for all it’s worth.
11.44a.m. comment posted re gaffe at ctv. It is over 2 hrs ago and still no demand from Iggy for an apology. How long elapsed before he was all hot and bothered with the PM’s stmts at the presser.
Waiting for demand of apology. And if he has, why isn’t it all over the media.
More pictures here of PM & Mrs. Harper in Italy, and before. (Get past the first two unflattering ones).

My apologies if this link has already been provided. No time to read through all comments right now.
Don’t you love it when the CTV talking head says things like “Do you think this story has legs?”
Duh. It only has legs when the stupid media cover it ad nauseum. Pull out the enraged Liberals; the academics; the pollsters; a faux insulted Canadian or two. So sad.
But you know they are really out to kill the PM when they pull out Wareen Kinsella and give his potty mouth credibility.
So very very sad.
It is time for our PM to have a weekly unadulterated uninterrupted American style state of the country address so we can find out news that is important to us don’t you think. Even if they have to use taxpayer money to buy 5 minutes of newstime per week it would be worth it. Truth versus potty small minded spin is what this country needs NOW to all pull together towards resolving this recession and other problems that are just too “complicated” for our media to even report on with any kind of depth or cohesion beyond whether a tiny or fabricated slip “has legs.
Conservative MP speaks out.
More, please.

“The CHRC is ethically challenged
Russ Hiebert, National Post
Recently, Canadian Human Rights Commission chief Jennifer Lynch criticized me for relying on “one source that is full of misinformation,” in my parliamentary study of the CHRC ( “Canadians ‘misinformed’ on hate speech,” June 22). It may surprise Ms. Lynch to learn that the source of my “misinformation” is her own commission and its companion body, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.
Every question I raised in committee about the lack of due process and an ethics code for commission employees, and the absence of rules of evidence, came from commission and tribunal documents, many of which are currently available on the commission’s own website ( http://www.chrc-ccdp.ca).The transcripts of tribunal hearings provide telling evidence of the wayward approach the commission’s investigators take in prosecuting their cases. Recent hearings, such as the Marc Lemire case, have revealed that current CHRC investigator Dean Steacy and former CHRC investigator Richard Warman regularly posted neo-Nazi diatribes under assumed names on white supremacist web-sites. Further, uncontradicted expert evidence presented before the hearing demonstrated that investigator Steacy illegitimately used an unsuspecting private citizen’s wireless Internet service to post his offensive comments.
Perhaps not coincidentally, the commission asked the tribunal to exclude the media from the hearing that day. Fortunately, for the sake of accountability, a secret hearing was rejected and we know more about the CHRC’s inner workings.
However, other hearings have been held in secret, as Ms. Lynch has admitted, supposedly for the “safety” of a witness but contrary to the ancient right of being able to face one’s accuser in court. Indeed, in the ongoing case of beachesboy@aol.comvs. drumsaremybeat@aol.com,the commission hasn’t even revealed the identity of the complainant. Interestingly, the commission’s website does name the complainant for 12 of the 14 hate speech cases that have come before the tribunal in the last eight years: Richard Warman. Ms. Lynch’s deputy appeared before my committee in Parliament recently and admitted that the commission does not have to follow rules of evidence or legal procedure, but merely has “operating procedures” that identify the timelines for addressing complaints. To put that in plain English: defendants have no guarantee of a fair hearing.
A 2003 internal government review of the CHRC found that the commission scored only 2.5 out of five on an ethics test. The review recommended the commission adopt an ethics code, which it has still not done. Given the questionable activities of its investigators, perhaps it is time for Ms. Lynch to revisit this recommendation.”

“Warren Kinsella’s standards – EYE WEEKLY
Warren Kinsella, an EYE WEEKLY contributor from November 1998 through June …. pointing the finger at Big Tobacco for the death of his physician father. …
http://www.eyeweekly.com/…/31614–warren-kinsella-s-standards
Off-topic but I just have to mention it. In the now-famous photo, Obama is blatantly scoping out a woman’s uh…you know. Sure, it’s funny but…once you know the whole story, it’s pretty disgusting.
One of my colleagues circulated a frontal photo of a group of junior delegates. The girl is Brazilian and 17 years old. She also looks about 13. So, Obama has two young daughters – I wonder how he’d feel if he saw some middle-aged man scoping out one of his daughters. Kind of shows me where the guy’s morals are at.
More and more, he is turning out to be not at all what he was marketed to be. I wonder how Michelle feels now that the world has seen him scoping out a slimmer female – I wonder how she’ll feel when she learns that this is a teenaged girl.
Hey, those left-wingers sure know how to select their idols, do they not? Thank you, but I’ll stick with a classy leader like Stephen Harper.
Norman Spector has some advice for Stephen Harper.
“that’s Bob Rae, Leader of the Liberal Party”
that’s not a mistake kids, it’s wishful and dare I say common sense thinking on the part of the journalist.
Hey Pierre Bourque! Seems Rae’s staging the quietest coup of a political party EVER!!
While Iggy’s away Rae will play I guess.
This needs more exposure. A Freudian slip of that caliber is fair game in my opinion for some great oppo.
Warning to all Churches of whatever denomination in Ottawa or other areas. KHS has lost his appeal to not be deported. Must be looking for a congregation to let him hide in their basement.
And, the female skijumpers also lost their attempt to be in the Olympics in 2010.
Did the PM actually say dumb idea when referring to Page.
And if the PM has apologized why is the media still demanding one. Has ctv apologized for their goof today.
#73, I was told at BCF ,if I saw the whole video it would show that O was not looking at that girl. Funny, but when I go down steps I look at the step in front of me.
Wonder what the media would say if that had been PMSH instead of O taking a look.
Ouch, Dmitri took a L today. Never make the boss look bad. Dmitri meet dog house, dog house meet dmitri..
Lucky for the government this happened on a friday in the middle of summer, after a week where the Liberal MSM not only jumped the shark, but a whale too.
Joanne @ # 74
I don’t think Dmitri should be canned. I would not want to be in Dmitri shoes right now tho.
Lorraine @ #70, I agree with you the PM should make weekly addresses to the population, if not on TV, which would be very costly, at least on the internet.
I’ve voiced the same concerns you have about uncommitted voters getting “news” through the MSM filter, not always the most impartial, as we all know.
However, it is discouraging to see websites like this one http://pm.gc.ca/eng/media_gallery.asp?media_category_id=2&media_id=446 not kept up to date. I realize it may be unrealistic to have today’s presser available there, but surely yesterday’s or the day’s before could already have been uploaded?
Rather than scatter the Conservative message on various YouTube videos, why not have only ONE website with up-to-the-minute video/audio of the PM’s pressers, statements, etc.?
The same website should have the written transcript of all such statements and pressers, readily available to bloggers who wish to counter inaccurate claims made by the Conservative Party’s opponents.

On another point, does anyone have a link or information about Ignatieff’s speech in London re: Isaiah Berlin?
I saw something on it, but can’t remember where. I did not note it down … thanks.
MaryT, as far as Ctv apologizing don’t count on it. They won’t stoop to that. They’re too good for that you know.
Gabby – FWIW, Colby Cosh ripped that speech today. Can’t remember seeing the actual text though.
Alberta Aardvark also has a post re the speech.
[...] And on the good news front (and we sure need it today), thanks to Gabby for the following links praising Canada on the world stage: Aid groups: Focus on Africa at next G8 [...]
Thanks, MaryT and Joanne.
