Stay proud, Canada:
…Donolo says there is a kind of new “smugness” out there that goes sharply against the grain of the legendary inferiority complex. Canadians now say, 89 per cent of them, that they live in the best country in the world. They say, 87 per cent, that Canada is in better shape than anyone else to deal with the world economic situation.
They believe Quebec will stay. They believe in their soldiers fighting in Afghanistan. And they think everyone living here could be just a bit more patriotic about it.
“If ever there was a true Canadian inferiority complex,” Donolo says, “it’s gone. When 90 per cent of the people think they live in the world’s best country, that’s not a country with a self-confidence problem.”

Update: Harper praises ‘strong and resilient’ Canadians – CTV
Thursday Update:
Arab group exec quits after online tirade – Toronto Sun:
…Just after 8:30 last night, Shaban, 23, resigned his post as the CAF’s executive vice-president for Western Canada, CAF national president Khaled Mouammar confirmed…
“It’s finally Canada Day … Couldn’t be more ashamed to be Canadian,” he wrote, apparently in reference to Canada’s treatment of the native population.
Mouammar said the comments don’t reflect the views of the CAF, a group that represents more than 40 Arab organizations across the country.
Tarek Fatah, founder of the Muslim Canadian Congress and a media commentator who has been critical of the CAF in the past, called the comments “hateful” and that Canadians shouldn’t tolerate it.
“This hateful attitude towards Canada is a direct result of how some politicians and police have refused to stand up to Islamists, either out of fear or for electoral expediency,” Fatah said.

I’ll go out on a limb and declare Stephen Harper and his governing style, his commitment to many of the core values which built this country, have enhanced our pride in Canada both at home and on the world stage.
That is not much of a limb, Liz. We have more cause today to be proud of our reputation abroad than we’ve had in the 13 prior to this government taking power.
Great Post Joanne!
It’s raining where I am. I’m searching on television for programs celebrating our country.
Looks like the offering is coming up short….again.
The vignette above is beautiful…do we not have more of these things that could air on Canada Day.
History Channel at the moment is about how the CN Tower was built. CBC has something about Canada and the Military.
Maybe PBS from America will have something?
Sad that.
You said all Liz J. My sentiments exactly!
GOD BLESS CANADA
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS
GOD BLESS OUR PRIME MINISTER STEPHEN HARPER
HAPPY CANADA DAY EVERYONE.
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
I second that, Liz J.
Of course, thinking Canada is the best need not take away from other countries’ accomplishments.
Although I am of neither British nor French heritage, I personally favour keeping the ties with the monarchy. We need not sever ties with the past in order to affirm our present and future.
What I DO want to see is more commitment from “new” Canadians, who IMO must balance the attachment they feel to their country of origin with the adoption of their new one. Once one has become a Canadian, the hyphenation – such as X-Canadian – should be dropped.
Happy Canada Day, everyone!
We’re # I.
Just visiting. Canada is a nice place to come from.
It’s IronIc: it’s “ironic”.
I-Iggy says: I-owe, I-owe, I-owe, er “I owe”.
“”I used those terms – and they are derogatory terms, with which I wish to disassociate myself – I use them in an ironic manner to describe some of the illusions and prejudices that people have about Ukrainians, and they’re wrong,” Ignatieff said.
“I’ve never believed them, I’ve never supported them, I reject them absolutely. Because some of my own family ancestors are buried in the Ukraine, I owe”.
…-
“Ignatieff has ‘respect’ for Ukrainians
Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff says comments he wrote about Ukrainians 15 years ago have been misinterpreted by the federal Conservatives.”

We are indeed blessed to live in this Big Beautiful Country. God Bless our troops and their unflinching committment to the war they are fighting, keep them safe when they are so far from home. Today and everyday we salute you, thank you!
God bless our Prime Minister, his lovely family, and the Leadership he has shown which is recognized all over the world, A Real Leader in our time! Happy Dominion Day to All!
I third that Gabby @# 7 and I am extremely impressed with your secondary comment and completely agree with your third comment.
I have never understood a reason to hyphenate citizenship. You either are or you’re not, Canadian.
However, this is a day to celebrate our great country, enjoy our cities and town’s celebrations and attend the Calgary vs Montreal CFL game.
Sorry Gabby, but we plan to win!
And cbc, with Mansbridge and the bimbo,Hiscox choose this opportunity to slam PMSH and a wee bit,the GG on the coalition/proroguing of Parl!Also..Petey manages a not so subtle slam of RCMP.Nice work you idiots!CTV has no coverage on live ceremonies, too busy with Michael Jackson.BTW,Mansbridge mentioned flag at halfmast due to passing of Romeo Leblanc, and people on the Hill today, thot it was for..yup,you guessed it..Michael Jackson!
Happy Canada Day to all my friends here.
Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, are set to visit Canada in November.
They will visit Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Newfoundland and Labrador.
A lot of work goes into planning a Royal visit and communities are getting excited about this already.
However, if the ego of one man (Ignatieff) and power hungriness of one polical party (Liberals) throw us into a fall election this visit will have to be cancelled.
Royals do not visit during political campaigns in any country.
Michael Ignatieff is spending his Canada Day in Edmonton and last night we found each other in the same room.
It is long but there are some comments that Iggy made that are worth your while to read.
Enjoy the day everyone.
Happy Canada Day.
Sammy is spot on with his observations regarding the CBC coverage of Canada Day.
The talking heads even mentioned how there was a brief salute of some sort to the Prime Minister and that should not have been. They suggested that perhaps he was trying to upstage the GG.
Then they went on to slam the RCMP.
I switched channels to the all-day Corner Gas station.
Enjoy everyone. I’m off to work.
NeilD
Bec @ #10, thanks.
“… but we plan to win”
That’s OK, we’ll let you have one … maybe … but look out for the Alouettes this year.
Calgary is hosting the Grey Cup this year, right?
The Alouettes will be there … and they won’t be singing “Gentille Alouette!”

I don’t think our Canada would be a very happy place right now if the Coalition of Losers had taken over…
God Bless Canada. And God Bless Her Citizens for fighting against the coalition abomination.
Mansbridge, what a disgrace, what a hunk of pure hatred.
Understand this is Canada Day Petey, stop acting anal, that was our Prime Minister speaking to ALL of us and he deserves respect. You and your fellow “Bimbos” can save your screed for another venue.
God help us if we ever let go of the Monarchy.
God save us from further Leftist creep.
God save our Queen and all she stands for.
Mansbridge, what a disgrace, what a hunk of pure hatred.
What did he say Liz?
I see Prentice is ready to match Waxman-Markey.
I hesitate to bring this up on a Canada Day thread, but there it is in all its ugliness.
I’m flabbergasted and very very disappointed. What will it take for someone to even acknowledge there is dissent in the scientific world on AGW??? This is insanity! One prominent pol needs to just man up and speak up and others will “come out”. Come on!
“God save us from further Leftist creep.”
I’m starting to think it may be too late.
Well, I’m off to our local Canada Day celebrations. If I run into our MP, he’s going to get an earful.
LizJ – you said it. On the world stage, Chretien and Martin looked like buffoons. Chretien with his little guy shtick and Martin with his smarmy grin really embarrassed us. Harper, on the other hand, shows class, dignity, and intelligence.
I get such a kick out of him in QP – he stands, buttons his jacket, pulls his sleeve and then calmly nails his counter part on the other side of the house. Ignatieff, on the other hand, stands up and grimaces his way through nonesense.
Yup, our PM is one guy of whom we can be very proud. He is a real leader – and he’s a real Canadian and plans to stay. Unlike Ignatieff, he’s not just passing through town.
Gabby @15 Yes, it is in Calgary and I suspect you are correct, Montreal, will be there. They really are in a class all on their own in the East.
Great link! Ha…..I’ll let my boys know that they have serious competition…..
Ardvarks link is AWESOME! What a great job of reporting. As for the stupidity of Peter and gang, just trust that all of the true Canadians, were out doing wonderful things and not watching his pathetic piece of misery.
Looking for a job soon, Petey boy? Hope so!
Canada, deserves better, much, much better!
Bec, have you read the story at NNW re Newman on the bloc. Seems there is a move afoot at both cbc and ctv to get him to replace Lloyd or Peter. Peter was very ignorant today, with his sly grin and his bimbo assistant was no better.
Joanne, might be time to get up another list titled Iggy’s senior moments, to go against the one of PMSH achievements. I expect every time Iggy says something stupid it will be headed, another senior moment.
Was it a senior moment when he again said that asbestos exports must be stopped, or that the West is french and will always be french.
How about his remark that he saved the PM by deciding against the coalition, mind you, 5 months after the PM was against it.
“THE WEST HAS ALWAYS BEEN FRENCH DON’T YOU EVER FORGET IT” says Ignatieff.
I take it that the EAST INCLUDING QUEBEC IS ENGLISH-DON’T YOU EVER FORGET IT.
Another heartwarming story over at Wpg Sun (link at Bourque)on left side of Bourque’s site,re Cons MP Rod Bruinooge (Wpg) sending 50 large Canadian flags to our troops in Afghanistan.Sounds like they really loved the gift, and are promising to bring Rod back a flag that flew over there! Good on ‘ya Rod!
OK, I’m going to stick out like a sore thumb here, but I believe Peter Mansbridge didn’t slag the PM today as stated by several commenters.
Unless I misunderstood, Mansbridge said there were a few raised eyebrows because there was apparently a small departure from the usual protocol. What was it?
The PM was given a salute usually reserved for the GG. Mansbridge referred to a Jeffrey Simpson G&M article where the latter claimed “Prime Minister Stephen Harper has elbowed her aside in taking the military march past.”
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/opinions/why-canadians-owe-great-thanks-to-michalle-jean/article1202410/
However, Mansbridge corrected the G&M assertion by saying that the GG would indeed receive the customary military salute, and pointed out that Ottawa being the kind of town it is, tongues immediately started wagging.
Both Mansbridge and Heather Hiscox said that the PM received a warm welcome from the crowd. Mansbridge added that no matter people’s political leanings, during all the years he has covered Canada Day celebrations no PM had received a negative reaction from the crowd.
As I said at the outset, maybe I misunderstood, so I’ll be watching the rerun of the Canada Day festivities at 7:00 on Newsworld to make sure.
Rats! Wouldn’t you know it? The first 10 minutes of the repeat program were unavailable. My TV told me “weak signal” – there’s thunderstorms in the Montreal area.
Oh well … whatever Mansbridge said doesn’t change the fact our PM is doing a great job.
Joanne, where do I start to mention what was said between the CBC Bimbos covering the Canada Day celebrations? I want them off my payroll.
They were definitely obsessed with the GG and her role in allowing the prorogation of parliament when the coalition were making an attempt to oust the duly elected government.
Petey mentioned it more than once, saying we really do not know what went down in that meeting between the two, the PM and the GG at that meeting. He also commented about the GG’s meeting with Obama, mentioned his great smile and alluded about how far they both had come, head of State and the Queen’s rep respectively. No doubt referring to their race. What else could it be? How much more of theses people should we have to put up with?
Today was not the time or place to be discussing what happened when their preferred coalition got canned after the PM met with the GG.
I was proud of both the PM and the GG today. Also proud of that fine young MP by the name to James Moore. We are indeed in good hands in spite of CBC bobble heads, twits, bozos and just plain soreheads.
Cool, fun quiz. See how many faces you can identify. I got 9 out of 10.
http://www.dominion.ca/
Just returned from a Canada Day celebration, that was mainly for kids. They had a cute game, Do you know Canada. Those plastic clips on bread pkgs had been spread around the park. They had the abbreviations of all the Provinces and the letters to Canada. Kids had to collect them and place them on a map of Canada and spelll Canada. The kids surprised the adults, they knew each and every place and even got the territories right. Perhaps Iggy should have played such a game. And we all learned something when questions were asked about Canada. I did not know there were douglas firs in BC that are 800 yrs old. Kids had a great time.
It’s more than a little sad that even on Canada Day many of the usual folks commenting here can’t seem to put aside petty partisan sniping at their political “enemies” and ideological foes. Pathetic really that everything has to be viewed through that divisive prism.
…can’t seem to put aside petty partisan sniping at their political “enemies” and ideological foes.
Imagine that!
Indeed. But two wrongs don’t make a right.
But two wrongs don’t make a right.
Or three.
Or four.
“Indeed. But two wrongs don’t make a right.”
Busted dude.
This one’s really pathetic. (And I resent them defiling a good name in it.)
Not sure how I’m “busted” just because others choose to hijack the event with their own crass political agenda(s) or causes. But whatever…
Personally, I’m more interested in enjoying the the delights of quiet, gloriously sunny day off work reading a good book in the back yard. To me, this is the epitome of Canada Day. And fireworks… which are also quite nice.
Gabby,
Mansbridge mentioned the salute (whatever it was) and then said that nothing happens in Ottawa without going through the PMO implying that the PM was upstaging the GG on purpose.
He and his fellow talking head also mentioned how favourably the PM had been received and they seemed a little surprised by that reaction but then they watered it down when they informed us that every Prime Minister is received favourably on Canada Day.
Red Tory,
You’re right about easing off on the rhetoric on Canada Day and I was more than willing to but then I tuned in to CBC…..
I switched back to Corner Gas after the fifth backhand comment.
One other thing I noticed was that while the PM was busy gladhanding the crowd the CBC director chose to show a shot of the backsides of the military honour guard. I wanted to see the crowds reaction to having the Prime Minister in their midst.
Maybe I’m very picky but the memory is still fresh of the recent Air Canada hijacking when the PM, who was in Jamaica at the time, went to the airport to greet the greatly relieved passengers and yet not one second of video made it to the newscasts. I’m willing to bet that plenty of those same passengers had cell phones with cameras as well as real cameras so the moment must have been caught by numerous people.
Anyway, Niagara Falls was very busy today with huge crowds out to see the sights and have a good time. The fireworks are always popular too.
Keep us in mind for your next staycation.
NeilD
Well, sounds like you had better weather than we did. Glad you had a good Canada Day.
NeilD @ #39, I guess in the end we all hear what we want to hear.
I know the CBC is not a fan of the Conservatives, but I didn’t find Mansbridge’s comments offensive, like some commenters did. At one point, as I mentioned in my first comment on this topic, I thought Mansbridge was rebuking the G&M for saying the PM was trying to upstage the GG.
That is why I wanted to view the program again and listen more closely. Alas, it was not to be, as Mother Nature intervened.
I do agree with you, though, that the cameras focused more on the GG and others rather than on the PM, which is often the case on the CBC and other networks. As I mentioned in another thread elsewhere, I fail to understand the rationale behind a Canadian network covering an Obama press conference in its entirety yet failing to cover the PM’s speeches or pressers.
I agree with Liz J, NeilD and others that Mansbridge was out of order. It was painfully obvious that he made a number of snide remarks about the PM and the Conservatives. It’s like he cannot help himself. During the last “At Issue Panel” of the year, he interjected with two or three digs at the PM and the Conservatives.
You would think on Canada Day Mansbridge would talk positively about the PM, the government, and Canada.
as “one of the usual folks ” thank you Joanne for another super post
and thank you to all who have contributed to the post
slams by Red Tory are trite to say the least
he reminds us again of Liberal hypocrisy
God Bless Canada best country in the world
best Prime Minister Stephen Harper

Red Tory – you slagged us commenters and then you ask how you were busted? Here, I’ll try to explain it: if you had included those others in your criticism, then perhaps you would have had a point. As it was, you just slagged us.
And, I also have to ask – why were you even commenting on this blog in light of your description of what Canada Day is to you?
It seems that you are a bit contradictory – on one hand, you come on this blog to slag us and on the other hand, you give a totally different idea of what Canada Day means to you.
I think that you just came on this blog to slag us – that is what Canada Day meant to you.

In the words of his own confrere…”this is hateful attitude towards Canada…” so where is Jennifer and the Lynch Mob????or do hate comments not apply to these bozos ???
So this Omar Shaban was born here, raised in Lebanon and hates Canada. Is this a pattern among his “Islamist” ilk?
This appears to be another Canadian of convenience.
It’s all about what Canada can offer them. They gladly partake of all the freedoms and security, teat suckling all the way,and in return they slag the country. That may be the least of our concern. We have to be more concerned for where this hatred leads them, what is their reasoning. We have a free and fair democratic country operating on the rule of law. Is that too much for them? Is that somehow a challenge to them?
We really do need to take a severe look at people who hold our citizenship but never intend to live here. We certainly got a wake-up/heads-up when we had to rescue Lebanese Canadians of convenience in the last turmoil in that Country. Scads of money spent rescuing them and most of them returned to their homes in Lebanon.

Good morning folks! I see Mr Ignatiff is in the news again, musing about shipping oil from the (French) west in a pipeline to the (french) East, I suppose once that is accomplished they will come back for the rocks and dirt ? This guy is a bigger train wreck than the last professor, oh and that pesky “nasal whine of ethnic instruments” thingy is a result of the CPC of Canada misinterpeting my thoughts and the words I have written and published, “out of context” which is Liberal professor speak for “where is the exit” ” my hand delivered pure bred (like me) burmese cat spit up a massive hairball on my speech” and “don’t you ever forget it”
This guy loves POTUS Obama, apparently “change” is what you do to your stated position of yesterday, an hour ago, I “hope” this spin-master-mikey never gets his hands on the levers of power. Apparently his platform has been right in front of us all along,it is a platform about “nothing” he got the idea whilst watching “Seinfeldt” reruns, I think he is “channeling” George Castanza.
East of Eden — I just found it kind of curious that a lot of folks commenting here couldn’t seem to take a little time away from petty sniping at their usual gang of perceived political enemies to simply enjoy some of the essential pleasures that make this a really great country to live in for the most part.
And yes, I should probably have kept that opinion to myself and not bothered commenting here as it’s well known that dissenting points of view on right-wing blogs are usually regarded with the utmost disdain and contempt (when they’re not banned or “moderated” out of existence). As, it must be said, is also the case on so-called “liberal” blogs when it comes to ideas falling outside the readers’ consensus of received wisdom.
It’s rather sad really that our political discourse has been reduced to such an abysmal level of blind hatred and mutual loathing.
“mutual loathing.”
Well at least you admit it’s mutual.
Not an admission, simply a statement of fact.
Ted is that you, or Gayle, or is that the “nasal whine of Liberal entitlement” Hey we just follow the news and try to stay one step ahead of the MSM, it is not lost on us that the “real world” accomplishments of our ELECTED PM are pretty much ignored, or as when P M Stephen steps out into the crowd after his Parliment Hill speech, CBC has the camera pan to a “rear view of the guard” However I do not use the word “enemies” and “hatred” is also very much out of place in my Canada. Both my wife and I were called bigots for attending a Conservative rally in Victoria. A senior cabinet member Eleinor Caplan, called us on national tv “prominent holacauct deniers and bigots” while the little wanna be tough guy from Shawinagin stood beside her and chortled. I am not mad, disgusted actually, but for you sir(or Madame) to come on this blog and pontifacate is really rich.
As for the “anointed” tourist who never met a position on any and all topics he didn’t like, until someone calls him on it and then……well he was, misquoted, misunderstood, or the latest… “out of context” his personal favorite apparently. He would seem to be as devoid of “context” as he is of principle. As an “energy saving” “green” option may I be so bold as to suggest wrapping Mr Ignatieff with copper wire putting a magnet on either side of him and then ask him about…hmmm asbestos, time zones, war in Lebanon, and as he starts to spin sell the excess electricity , a fund raiser for sure!
Cheers

Once again, it’s time for the truth. You know, instead of the “politically correct” statements and BS. Sometimes we’re quick to criticize the actions and policies of other countries without acknowledging the hypocrisy within our own.
O Canada, we paint a beautiful picture by glossing over the reality we prefer not to see. Politically correct, we certainly are. The “sick attitude” is that “it’s best we do not go there.”
Just read this from someone who knows what he’s talking about. What’s he talking about? It’s not about divisiveness, it’s about the truth, that’s all!!

When a $2.5billion international venture is being planned you might expect there to be hours of debate over what to call it.
Yet branding is not the forte of some companies, it seems.
Russian Energy giant Gazprom has inadvertently walked into a racism row with the announcement of its joint venture in Nigeria – Nigaz.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his Nigerian counterpart Umaru Yar’Adua last week agreed the deal to build refineries, pipelines and gas power stations in Africa’s most populous nation.
The name is meant to be an amalgamation of ‘Nigeria’ and ‘Gazprom’, pronounced ‘nye-gaz’, but it can be read phonetically as an offensive term for those of black African origin.
‘How more derogatory can it be. Let’s join forces in making our government rename this,’ said the creator of ‘Nigerians No Nigaz’, a group on Facebook.
Many comments on the blunder were from white bloggers.
But others mocked the mistake – one African-American suggested a playlist of songs from U.S. hip-hop artists for the Nigaz launch party.

Ted is that you, or Gayle, or is that the “nasal whine of Liberal entitlement”
Who is Ted?
Hey we just follow the news and try to stay one step ahead of the MSM, it is not lost on us that the “real world” accomplishments of our ELECTED PM are pretty much ignored, or as when P M Stephen steps out into the crowd after his Parliment Hill speech, CBC has the camera pan to a “rear view of the guard”
This must be code for something of meaning, but it’s lost on me.
How do you “stay one step ahead of the MSM” I wonder… By cherry-picking articles from the “MSM” that please you and rubbishing the rest for some perceived “liberal bias” perhaps? Or simply relying on anecdotal tales from people who support your own prejudices?
However I do not use the word “enemies” and “hatred” is also very much out of place in my Canada. I do not hate Liberals, or anyone else for that matter. Anyone putting any “hate” posts on this blog would be shown the door very quickly. As for the Liberals I don’t like their postures, policies, or politics, last time I looked that wasen’t [sic] against the law.
I don’t think anyone suggested that disliking one’s political opponents was against the law. The word “hate” was also not invoked — although I did state that there seems to be a mutual loathing between those on the “right” and their counterparts on the “left” side of the political spectrum.
We have had a better Government in the last 3 years than in the previous 13 in my Conservative opinion.
Yes, going from a modest surplus to a massive deficit is always the sign of a “better Government” isn’t it?
I have seen my candidates, smeared, reviled, abused for their personal religous [sic] beliefs. Both my wife and I were called bigots for attending a Conservative rally in Victoria. A senior cabinet member Eleinor Caplan [sic], called us on national tv “prominent holacauct [sic] deniers and bigots” while the little wanna be tough guy from Shawinagin [sic] stood beside her and chortled.
That’s a pretty categorical condemnation without any real substantiation. Elinor Caplan’s remarks about the Canadian Alliance being home to “Holocaust deniers and bigots” happened almost a decade ago. Do you really want to go down the road of dragging out unfortunate or goofy comments made by politicians in years past? I believe the Toronto Star has 10 of them in their paper today — all from “conservatives” funnily enough.
I am not mad, disgusted actually, but for you sir(or Madame) to come on this blog and pontifacate [sic] is really rich.
You’re not “mad” but “disgusted actually”? Am I reading that correctly? Not quite sure why your level of anger enters into the equation, but whatever… I didn’t really think that I was pontificating, rather more making an observation, although it may have come across as kind of judgmental.
As for the “anointed” tourist who never met a position on any and all topics he didn’t like, until someone calls him on it and then……well he was, misquoted, misunderstood, or the latest… “out of context” his personal favorite apparently. Very funny. And I don’t disagree with you there.
Red Tory, whoever you are, you sure are full of yourself and much more. I detect an air of condescension, that never goes over well with anyone and certainly not Conservative bloggers.
You must have graduated from the school of Garthology along with the infamous “Gayle” and “Ted” as well who troll to antagonize from their high perches. Condescension and arrogance never win friends or influence people to have meaningful discussions or even arguments.
Aah “Red Tory” you did use the term “hatred” as in hate, kind of “petty” not to take ownership of your own remarks. I think we will just agree we have differing points of view, I however am not on a Left-wing Liberal Blog slagging the post’s. Go on out to your back yard and enjoy the rest of your day.
Sorry Joanne, I know I should’t feed ‘em.
Liz J, whoever you are, I’d be interested to know more about this amazing Condescension Detector you’ve invented… Is it patented yet?
Very interesting comment “Red Tory”. Why would my one observation of you lead you to believe I invented “this amazing Condescension Detector”?
Condescension is not difficult to detect, it just oozes out, it’s an attitude. No special powers are needed to detect it.

CON’DE’SCEND’ING adj. patronizing; distainful; smug. Machine!?? Machine!?? Machine!?? We don’t need no stinking Machine! Listen to me! step away from the computer! NOW! Go back outside, read a book, realize how lucky you are to have P M Stephen Harper doing the “heavy lifting” Mr Ignatieff obviously thinks so too! He has carried on the tradition of supporting the Conservatives started by Mr Dion. I think he wishes he was a Conservative, he huffs he puffs, he votes Conservative! He flirted with Jack and Gilles and left them at the altar, I wonder if he gave the ring back?
Personally, I’m more interested in enjoying the the delights of quiet, gloriously sunny day off work reading a good book in the back yard. To me, this is the epitome of Canada Day
Yeah, me too. Didn’t bother even turning on the PC on Canada Day. Probably too intoxicated.
But you did have time to drop by with a silly swipe at conservatives, though.
Decline of the Puffins!
Was listening to Foxnews a little while ago and they touched on a story of the declining population of puffins in England in the last five years or so. I right away thought of the decline of the Puffin Party in the HOC here.
I thought it was kinda humorous when you look at the story in that context. So I went digging to see if I could find the story to share with you. Here it is.

Moebius — Yep, my bad for doing so.
It would appear that Mr Ignatieff has discovered the West.
“But westward look! the land is bright”
H.T.A.C Clough 1869
Having said that however westerners are going to take a hard look at a man so removed from any reality, he continualy attempts to define “who and what we are” He is a deaf man trying to hear the music, we don’t need or want some ass-hat from Haarvard to define us.
We damm well know who we are and what we want we already have that in Ottawa, what we need now is a majority, keep talking Mr. Ignatieff.
red tory you come to a conservative blog and accuse the blog owner and
the blog regulars of slagging other opinions with which we disagree
What point are you making?
none

lol! Poor Red really stepped on a hornet’s nest this time.
Isn’t that ironic, reporting a decline of the Puffins in England just when the Puffin fancier and leader of the Official Opposition, aka, Puffin Iggy is heading over there.
Good morning Joanne, it’s a beautiful day in Qualicum, I see the Conservative party is “outing” the Bloc for refusing to support mandatory sentances for pedophiles. Good ! it’s time they got their butts kicked for holding up legislation that would keep some of the creeps off our streets for a while. Real consequences for real crimes works.
As for “Red Tory” same old story. nuff said, OT Anyway I have never liked the “Tory” designation “I am a Conservative”. Works for me. After seeing the picture of Mr Ignatiff wandering T.O’s streets wearing his “Pierre Trudeau” picture, looking very “sorry ass” what is with the “grimace”. I got to thinking how does a person like Trudeau who would not fight for his Country, get the time of day from any real Canadian? Let alone be treated as an “Icon” by the Liberal Party, pathetic in my opinion. Begs the question is Mr. Ignatieff a real Canadian? Is he here on a “Tourist Visa” Or is he just here for the “3 hour tour” with Gilligan?

Bubba Brown, that’s the brochure we received in the mail. It’s all in French, not a word in English. Would someone please tell the Conservatives to send out bilingual messages in Quebec as they should!! Or is there a message there??
The Bloc has done the job of eliminating the awareness of the English presence in Quebec. We do not need the Conservatives doing likewise.
It’s bad enough that many years ago, while in Alberta, the number of Albertans that thought Quebec was all French was surprising. That was quite a shock, especially considering the higher number of English people living in Quebec compared to the total population of a number of Canadian provinces. Today, of course, the numbers here are way down!!
Moebius — Yep, my bad for doing so.
You were always so much more interesting before whoring yourself out to Liblogs.
