It’s curious how the CTV site rarely if ever shows the “Reality Check” segment of Tom Clark’s Power Play. One would think that the Liberal media would want to be giving their party as much support as possible in terms of free attacks against the CPC.
Perhaps they don’t want to be called out on their obvious bias with a direct link.
In any case, in yesterday’s segment Jane Taber made no attempt to hide her partisanship. She discussed Stephen Harper’s rally in Montreal as only expecting 500 people, and that Iggy’s Montreal speech scheduled for June 4 will draw ‘far more’ people – perhaps as many as 1,000.
She added that Ignatieff’s dinner is being sponsored by “non-Liberal business types including some bankers and media-types.”
Oh pull-eeze, Jane! How can you live with yourself?
Update: H/T to Richard and Agent Smith for reminding me that today we celebrate 1200 days with Prime Minister Stephen Harper in office!!! (see right sidebar)
Excellent post by Canadian Sentinel - Massive Tory Turnout In “Liberal” Montreal :
...The Conservatives had many, many more folks in attendance at this supposedly little fundraiser in “Liberal” Montreal than the Liberals had in their national convention to coronate a so-called “leader” without democratic consent of the membership...
So what do you say to that, Jane Taber???
* * * *
Friday Update: Jane Taber corrected the attendence numbers on Tom Clark’s May 22 Power Play. (H/T to Fay and several other BLY readers.)

What makes Taber even more pathetic is the fact it was known days before that there would be in excess of 2,000 people attending. And that was stated on Power Play the day before no less, by Jeff Norquay, on a panel with Sheila Copps and Joy ? of the NDP.
Oddly enough, it was Tom Clark who was hosting that segment, and yet he never saw fit to correct Taber yesterday. And the actual number was 2500 tickets sold.
You know, I’m old enough to remember the 1960s when the women’s movement was striving to gain respect for women’s intellect and usefulness to society. I remember when TV shows portrayed wives and secretaries as being near-bimbos who were always saved by some strong man who benevolently tolerated their empty-headedness. I remember a time when women were respected for their abilities to raise children, look good on their men’s arms, and to cook and clean well.
Many women gave up what they had been programmed to want in order to advance women’s causes and some real progress was made. Along comes a woman like Jane Taber who sounds very much like a 1960s bubble-headed Barbie Doll. Her infatuation with Ignatieff is representative of a negative stereotype of women. Her giggling and shrieking are reminiscent of the 1960s TV show bimbettes. Taber is no Claire Huxtable, I can tell you.
If I were a woman, believe me, I’d be embarrassed by her.
Just goes to prove that the words ‘reality’ and ‘journalist’ should never be used together in a sentance!! did any of you notice how weird Taber looked last eve on PP? Looks like she’s had botox treatment or something done..she’s looking as phony as her tabloid reporting is.
Should send an email to Taber questioning her math skills.
Dear Jane: I saw your comments on PowerPlay in regards to the fundraisers in Montreal both PM Harper and Michael Ignatieff will be hosting, and I noticed you seem to be having trouble reading the mathematic formula to determine who will have more guests. If read properly:
Formula should read 2300>1000
2300 is greater than 1000
Taber Math 2300<1000
1000 is greater than 2300
I’m sure you will correct your error on Thursday’s edition of PowerPlay.
Don’t this just make you want to walk up to Giggles Taber and say “Janey, you got something dribbling down your chin”…
[Portion deleted by blog administrator]
…I suspect she should go to a doctor and get that looked at.
ps: sorry Joanne if this goes over the line on your monitoring
[It does, but I hear ya]
…Oddly enough, it was Tom Clark who was hosting that segment, and yet he never saw fit to correct Taber yesterday. And the actual number was 2500 tickets sold.
Right. Tom Clark loses credibility by letting something like that pass without a challenge or even a comment.
“She added that Ignatieff’s dinner is being sponsored by “non-Liberal business types including some bankers and media-types.”
That’s interesting Joanne. If part of Ignatieff’s event is being expensed through a bank or business, rather than individuals, Elections Canada might need to be notified
“media-types”
But I thought the msm was non-partisan. This blows that argument out the window.
Tom Clark can now be defined as a Liberal shill, not a doubt about it. You don’t just “happen” to overlook so many boners.
It’s at the point of why bother watching any show that can’t put out the facts and correct errors or purposeful misconceptions put out by Liberals. It’s always the Liberals who do it on purpose.
Jane’s gossip should not be dismissed. Jane has her eyes/ears wide shut; but, she knows where the LibKeyholes are.
Jane also knows where the LibSkeletons are kept.
Here are ““non-Liberal business types including some bankers and media-types.””
The Iggy puffery here is hilarious.
Warning to Canada: Iggy’s Brainiacs are on the loose.
MSM says Iggy is readying for the Shootout at the KatMeat Corral.

“Ignatieff taps high-powered economic brainstrust
Liberal Party Leader Michael Ignatieff has quietly reached out to an economic brain trust that includes former Bank of Canada governor David Dodge as his party begins developing a new platform that sources say would serve as an eventual trigger to bringing down the Conservatives” (NNW)
I stopped listening to Power Play while shaving (repeats) in the morning because of her voice. It is grating at the best of times but while shaving? No, I just could not stand listening to her interrupts, etc.
Don’t forget what else Jane said….Harpers guest at the head table was a loser….his dinner was with a bunch of losers.
east of eden, you are so right. I am a female and I do get embarrassed by Jane. I really think she’s not that smart although she pretends to be. A serious journalist she’s not. She is more like a gossip columnist. I keep saying she ‘s more suited for Etalk or ET. Even the women on those shows are not the airhead type like Jane is.
I am not fond of Susan Bonner but she is way more intelligent than Jane Tabor.
Don’t forget what else Jane said….Harpers guest at the head table was a loser….his dinner was with a bunch of losers.
And that my friends is why the Liberal Party doesn’t feel the need to run those nasty attack ads. Why waste the money when you can get a third party to do it for you for free?
“Don’t forget what else Jane said….Harpers guest at the head table was a loser….his dinner was with a bunch of losers.”
Guess she forgot Iggy lost to Dion. Doesn’t that make him a loser?
“non-Liberal business types including some bankers and media-types.”
Well that right there shows that Jane has no idea what she is talking about – there are no – “non-liberal media types”!!!!!
Someone should tell Kinsella that Toews dropped out of the Paraguayan Presidential campaign months ago.
http://www.warrenkinsella.com/
Happy day 1200.
When I watch Jane Taber on Power Play and Question Period, I think what a waste. There must be more inteligent and capable women than Jane Taber. Its hard to believe the best CTV can do is Jane and Sandi Renaldo. Canadians deserve better!!!
Jane is a valuable asset to any organization. She provides cover for her co-workers ineptness. After all, no matter how badly they behave or screw up, they can always say “I’m still better than Jane”. Her airheadedness is tolerated because she makes the other “journalists” look like geniuses. Any office should be thankful to they are blessed with a “Jane”.
P.S.- Joe Biden performs the same function for the Obama administration.
Take a look at Canadian Sentinel’s latest blog post on this little soiree in Montreal! How come the msm hasn’t pointed out, that PMSH’s outing in Que.brought out MORE people than the lib.coronation in Vancouver?????
BTW,my take on PMSH’s appearance in Mtl must have been a HUGE success..I surmise this, due to the total neglect to mention it so far this a.m. by ctv/cbc Not News networks!we wouldn’t want positive coverage of our PM now would we?
It’s been a while since the air was changed in her head.
Apparently she also failed grade 2 math.
1 2 0 0 PM Harper 1 2 0 0
#22 – That wasn’t very nice.
#23 – Thanks. Regarding what?
“I surmise this, due to the total neglect to mention it so far this a.m. by ctv/cbc Not News networks!we wouldn’t want positive coverage of our PM now would we?”
And yet if Ignatieff speaks to 100 people at a Chamber of Commerce dinner it’s front page and in video as supposed proof how popular he is.
Anyone ask Iggy what kind of car he drives yet?
Joanne re;#23
1200 days in office is what I think he/she means.
Oh right! I thought Agent Smith was referring to a press conference scheduled for noon.
Doh!
This is a milestone alright.
I wonder if 1200 days is moore than one of the terms Chretien served in a majority before calling an election.
I was at the event. It was a massive crowd There were over 2000 people there. It was so crowded some people couldnt get into the room.
Taber has trouble counting. Her liberal bias is once again exposed. Too bad no onw will confront her on her inability to be a reporter.
Joanne — I thought your readers might be interested in my latest post.

Guess we’ll have to grit our teeth and watch PeePee today to see if the Montreal rally numbers is mentioned. If not, that’s it, they just want those who rely on them for facts to think the estimate by Twit Taber stands. No more second chances, we have to flood CTV with complaints. It may not help but at least they’ll know we’re onto them.
SCOC is an acronym for Supreme Court of Canada.
The Supremes have committed sanity.
Meanwhile, the leftists are in shock. Taliban Jack LaytoNDP has had another head-explosion*.
…-
“Afghan detainees have no Charter rights: SCOC
OTTAWA — The Supreme Court of Canada declined Thursday to be the final referee on whether the Charter of Rights should apply abroad to protect Afghan detainees whom Canadian forces have handed over to Afghan authorities.
Amnesty International Canada and the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association have been fighting the matter in court for two years, arguing that the charter obligations of Canadian soldiers should not end at the border and must apply to “government agents acting in foreign countries.”"

So…totally OT, but has the Ruby affair been run to ground? Nothing in the papers, lately.
Has anyone seen Robert Fife since he called Ruby out on Power Play?
Fay, I must have missed that one. What happened?
Even Hello Canada had a one-pager on Ruby. The last one (I read it at the checkout line) had a 50 most beautiful Canadians feature and Ruby was one of them. A former Bollywood star? Now I know that magazine is full of fluff. The movie she made was Canadian and Bollywood-style – big difference. I see that one of her supporters is retracting a letter which she signed, as Ruby’s friend. Apparently, the media distorted the letter and made it seem like some Filipino community supported Ruby. Tsk tsk, the media distorted something in favour of a Liberal? What are the odds?
Yay. 1,200 days. Yes. Way to go Prime Minister Harper. Yes, yes, yesssssssssssssssssss. The best (sorry to use the word) f**ing PM we’ve had in years and years. F**king-A. My apologies for the swear word – but I am so bloody impressed with our PM that my excitement is boiling over. One thousand two hundred days. Count ‘em. One thousand two hundred. Wow, that’s almost 4 years. Yessssss. Go Harper Go!!!!!!

Take a look at Canadian Sentinel’s latest blog
Sammy, doesn’t the PM look relaxed?
yet Jane and com. all look nervous sort of jumpy and whenever they talk they bob their heads so many times to look convincing.
There is nothing that get a persons ire up than when they witness the reports on something they have personally been involved with via the media. Over 2000 people attended that event in Montreal. Many wll be looking for reports on it. The fact the cbc/ctv are avoiding this will make them question other stories they do cover.
Those 2500 voters will tell their friends and family.
As far as non partisan bankers go, how many times has that ex banker been on tv dissing PMSH and his economic plan.
Where is Don Newman. Is he taking his accumlated holidays and sick days prior to his retirement. Will he be applying for EI benefits.
If the PM can get 2500 out in a place they have never elected an MP, what is his support in areas they have won seats.
This is a saver; get screen shots.
CBC uses ‘adscam’ in a headline.
CBC does not use Liberal Chretien-Martin ‘adscam’.
CBC only uses Liberal at the end: “The ensuing scandal devastated the Liberal party in Quebec and helped drive it out of power in the 2006 federal election.”
This is the most important item:
>>> “the Quebec court also ordered 22 people — mostly current and former government employees — to state under oath”.
Does this qualify for the QOTD?
More Truth Ads, please.
…-
“Top court to hear Globe’s appeal over ‘adscam’ confidential sources
CBC News
The Supreme Court of Canada will hear the Globe and Mail’s appeal of a lower court’s order aimed at uncovering the identity of a confidential source used by the reporter who broke the story of the federal sponsorship scandal.
The top court’s decision was announced in a release on Thursday without comment.
At the heart of the case is the federal government’s $35 million lawsuit against ad firm Le Group Polygone, one of the ad companies accused of overbilling Ottawa, to recuperate funds paid to the firm as part of the so-called “adscam.” The case is expected to go to trial in Quebec in October.
The Quebec Superior Court at one point ordered Globe reporter Daniel Leblanc not to write about out-of-court negotiations for repayment between the government and the ad firm.
At the request of Polygone, the Quebec court also ordered 22 people — mostly current and former government employees — to state under oath whether they’d given information to Leblanc.”

Dr. Roy thoughts, you said you were at the event; I hope that you have tons of photos because no such luck will they be seen in the National media.
Allow me to point out the obvious. G&M reporting Iggy met with David Dodge for advice on a plan for the economy. That was a few days ago. So it appears it is Iggy who has no plan, and is just starting one now, 6 months after he said Canada’s economy was in the tank.
Paul @43 – Yeah, it sure does look that way. Now I do remember him saying that he told his people to come up with a plan by June.
But clearly, he himself has no plan. Except to use other people’s ideas and plans.
Someone asked for the latest on IRuby.
this was posted at small dead animals.
You know that if the hammering of the Liberals and the MSm by the bloggers continues,
Jane taber is going to have an aneurism.
Joanne, I am sorry for some of the comments made erlier re: giggles. I generally refuse to watch her as it brings out my Mr. Hyde
Ignatieff: “The Conservatives have no plan….”
The Liberals vote for the Conservative Action plan.
Ignatieff: “We have to take down this government as soon as possible. Canadians need a better plan…”
Ignatieff asks outside advisors to “give him a plan” 6 months into a major economic downturn and after spending 3 months travelling on the taxpayer dime promoting a personal book.
Yup. That’s pretty ballsy.
take heart folks. That backing into a corner sound we hear from the Liberal MSM is the air being deflated from their red balloons and the non-bounce they experienced after their convention about nothing in particular.
The conservatives are using the ropes(grassroot supports)while the LPOC who promised to let their grassroots in to their rebuilding and redefinition…not so much.
Perhaps Ms. Taber got her education in Ontario where fuzzy math is the norm, not the exception.
Test Sample of Math Fuzzy Ontario Math:
Jill often goes to the store for her mother. Her mother gives Jill a $20.00 bill and asks Jill to buy milk, eggs and butter but to not spend more than $8.60 and to bring back the change. What colour are Jill’s running shoes?
p.s. – please use the space provided to explain how you came up with your answer. Full marks will be given for an incorrect answer…as long as you’re close.

I enjoyed watching Mike Duffy Live, he would always provide an email address so that listeners could offer some type of feed back: I went searching for Tom Clarks email and this was not readily available, he also does not provide that information during the telecast. I guess the Tom Clark reporting is right and does not deserve any critique ala Jane Taber.
One of the reasons I watch this show is to see how many times the Conservatives get a favorable response, so far the count is one (1) since Clark has been on PP

Wasn’t it David Dodge that railed on PMSH’s economic plan has being to optomistic; that the Canadian economy would not start to turn around until at least 2014. Is this the guy that Iggy is relying on. God help us.
Oh, oh, oh, I know this one.
Jill’s shoes are red, because her mother is a teacher, and as such is part of the teachers union. Jill’s shoes need to be red, because whenever there is an election, Jill’s mom gets a paid day off to campaign for McGuinty, and Jill tags along because it usually falls on a PAA day as they have so many of them.
If that’s not the right answer, my guess is the answer is 17.
There are some pics now posted at the Party website of last nights function.

I’ve listened to Jane Taber in the past on CFRA Ottawa. She comes across as a flakehead. Listening to her drives you nuts, really!! The bloggers and posters (Conservatives, of course) on here could easily replace her and do a great job. I guess it is all about connections.
Whew, the turnout in Montreal — terrific!! Maybe, just maybe, Montrealers are waking up. There are Liberals in the know in Montreal who are fed up with what’s happening to their party. Possibly some of that discontent is filtering down to the average voter.
I’ve found the attitude here, over way too many years, very narrow-minded. Hopefully, that is changing. I wouldn’t be surprised that the internet has something to do with it.
We’ve been spreading the word about PM Harper and the Conservatives for many years to anyone and everyone we happen to meet in Ontario and Quebec and through e-mail everywhere. The idea being the more people you talk to the more the word gets out in that they talk to their friends as well.
I tend to go out of my way to engage others on the topic of politics. Most of the time, I find people are unaware as to what is happening politically.

Also, he does mention the Montreal fundraiser.
Has anyone watche Iggy.me and the response to the truth ads. I wont watch them.
Remember, David Dodge may be a smart man but his politics are LIBERAL. One would assume at some point for a smart Liberal one’s credibility would trump politics.
Is “Non-business type” Liberal speakeeze for Snivel Servant? Let’s be honest the Federal Government is infested with Liberals, Iggy need not travel further than the Ottawa and GTA zip code to fill a room.
jad — in # 45 you put a link by highlighting a single word. Normally I can only do that if I am on my own blog and use the insert feature.
How did you do that?
Oh, oh, here I am admitting to other bloggers, that after three years, I don’t know how you did that.
Come on, fess up! LOL
By the way, NNW has put up my post.
I’m thinking the news about the PM’s rally in Montreal will be spewed that the attendees were paid to attend and came for the free lunch. That’s what I got from PEE PEE host and his informant, Jean LaPierre. Apparently there are only three safe seats for the Conservatives in Queeebec. How about who the hell cares anymore? If we have to suck up to a population who are so fickle, play the selfish game of what’s in it for us, to hell with all others, why even care?
See latest by Andrew Coyne at Macleans (link at Bourque):Ignatieff from both sides now..good read! Not sure if anyone else posted on this…it’s been a really long day, just home from work, and haven’t had time to catch up.Updates on PP today anyone?? You know kids..I am honestly so disgusted with our msm that I have stopped watching a lot of it.The BM/KHS saturation by cbc/ctv did me in finally.I’ve been more fascinated with US politics lately..and the current evisceration of US msm that Fox is doing such a good job of..Just when the H.will we get something comparable up here? I’ve grown so disheartened by the grovelling to the Lib party by msm..by the stupidity of Tabloid Taber and her cohorts, and the lack of fair and balanced reporting. The disrespect by msm shown to PMSH is stomach churning..so rather than subject myself to a permanant state of disgust,I look away. And they wonder why newspaper sales are down????

Nice guys finish last? Liberals hope not
Stephen Harper’s hyper-partisanship is in sharp contrast to Michael Ignatieff’s preoccupation with higher motives
We should all say thanks to the MSM for re-inforcing the message of the CPC ads(MSM, says your a idiot if you listen to iggy’s own words)..
It is the long game people, you have no idea how effective these ads are(marketing wise, there will not be a election or a long time).
It is almost like the CPC had focus groups about the ads and what the response from the PPG would be..
But, over the summer the CPC need to get the message out of how they are dealing wth the economy. Me-thinks that will happen, but you will not hear about that from the PPG…
