B.C. man sitting on park bench recognizes Michael Ignatieff

And that pretty much sums up how Iggy’s bowling them over out west.

Oh, the liberal media is bravely trying to torque the headlines to suggest otherwise - Ignatieff attracts overflow crowd for town-hall session.

Overflow crowd of 300? Next time they’ll be scheduling the townhall here.

Bonus: This pic is begging for a caption.  I’ll get you started.

“Ugh. How could an eyebrow get on my plate by teleconference?

Update: O.K. I’m not going to even try to pick my favs because there are so many great captions here, but here is a sampling (who says Conservatives don’t have a sense of humour?):

Caption: “Lars, the party has only been going 15 minutes and the people are already getting restless and bored. Be a dear and put on that Liberal logo thong we got at the last leadership convention and get these troops energized!”

Ah, so finally the Liberal stimulus plan is revealed.

Speaking of the Liberal Helpings events, how did all those wine-and-cheese dinnerparties go ? I have obviously been skimming the news too quickly as I have not seen any reports about their overwhelming success, etc. etc. but perhaps someone else out there has read something ?

  2. Joanne says:

Speaking of the Liberal Helpings events, how did all those wine-and-cheese dinnerparties go ?

I’m sure the whine was flowing freely.

  3. MaryT says:

Caption, Only another 15 minutes and its over.

  4. Joanne says:

Good one, Mary T. The poor woman looks utterly bored.

  5. Joanne says:

Check out the comments at Steve’s.

I get the impression that the Libs hate Harper so much that it’s Iggy-if-necessary-but-not-necessarily-Iggy.

  6. Bubba Brown says:

Aah yes the “overflow crowds” in Sannich 300 people? Hardly Earth shaking IMO

  7. MaryT says:

Iggy said he does not believe in auto bailouts. Have his union supporters been told this. If PMSH had said that it would be all over the news, taken out of context. I watched the interview on Fox. Did you know that Canada and India are the co-chairs of the talks on the financial difficulties, and how to help fix them. And, Chris Mathews mentioned that the PM first warned of the coming problems in 2007. Remember how he was chastised for that by all the experts, media and liberals-(McCallum). And the PM was firm on his position on Afghanistan.

  8. Sylia says:

My Victory Fund watch must be slow – shouldn’t this be done by now?

  9. Soccermom says:

Caption: “The food is bad, Iggy’s a dud, CAN WE PLEASE LEAVE NOW?”

  10. Soccerdad says:

I suppose all the favourable polling for Ignatieff and the LPC is merely a product of Liberal media bias?

  11. MaryT says:

Were these Helpings held during earth hour.

  12. Sammy says:

Photo caption:”I asked someone to cut the cheese..I didn’t mean THAT cheese!”
BTW,QP going to drag out the B.Mulroney/KHS fiasco…just to offset any positive play PMSH will get.

  13. Soccermom says:

Soccerdad, nice handle. Too bad your politics are messed up.

  14. Soccermom says:

Caption: “Fred, can we kick these people out NOW, PLEASE? These criminals, thieves, hippies and low-lifes are ruining the furniture!!”

  15. Soccerdad says:

The children of Liberals play soccer too, sorry to burst your bubble…. kinda like the current polls.

  16. Soccermom says:

    Liberals still have kids?

  17. Bec says:

    CAPTION:

“What time was that interview with, PM Harper?
This party is a bust, the conference call from Michael, a drag and I am about to lose my mind.
Get me out of here and maybe we can still catch the, PM.”

  18. C.C. says:

Caption: “I’d rather go see the Super Dogs show”

300 is NOT an overflow crowd – I give Iggy a grade of “C” for a good try, but sorry, no can promote to leadership status just yet. More effort required and less depending on the smart kids in the group for script.

Should be no surprise to the LPOC or their ground support that Iggy doesn’t have name/face recognition….give me one reason why anyone should know who he is? It’s not like he worked his way up through the ranks of the party or anything like that.

On the video clips of the “overflow” town hall – the stunned silence by the audience says it all for me.

on climate change Iggy wants to go where Obama’s going….typically the Icey Interim Leader of the Sometimes Coalition, Bob Rae and Meme doesn’t have an idea of his own.

Bottom-line is that those clips should tell us that he’s going to re-gift the Green Shift, by calling it something else, just what though it seems he is uncertain.

His labeling of farmers as “carbon sinks” is too much!

Let’s not “pussyfoot” around here folks.

The more he talks the better for the CPC.

OFF-TOPIC – but a full page ad in the National Post reminds us that April 9th is the anniversary of Canada’s heroic efforts at Vimy Ridge. They are commemorating with a nice Vimy pin, that can be purchased and worn on April 9.
Go to http://www.vimyfoundation.ca and order yours – they’re $5.00 and can be ordered individually or by groups.

I ordered one for each member of my family.

  19. C.C. says:

P.S. – Will there be a link to Harper’s USA interviews without having to watch it through the eyes of CTV, because I do not want to grant CTV my patronage.

  20. Soccermom says:

  23. Sammy says:

Taber just states,’we have 2 EXPERTS to analyze interview with PMSH..laughing and introduces Bob Rae and Dewar.
Did you see Oliver actually smile at end of interview with PMSH? It appeared genuine….and his face didn’t crack!

  24. Soccermom says:

Caption: “When we said ‘bring an entree’, we didn’t think some idiot would show up with ‘Cat Chow Mein’. Do we have time to sneak out and bring in some Burger King?”

yea soccermom for brains notch one on yer belt for us hillbillies dagnabit…..keep dreaming goats

  29. Soccermom says:

Bob, put down the bong and say something coherent.

  30. bob says:

As soon as we add CTV to the mix of anything including discussion here you automatically and instantly set yourselves’ up for disappointment.

Don’t watch it through their narrow filter of bias and, you’ll not miss anything at all by waiting until you can watch it untainted by toxic opinion.

I want to discuss Harper’s performance based on the professionalism of the American journalists….not what we’ve come to expect of CTV.

Why anyone would want to tune in to CTV is beyond me.

And, nope, I no longer buy the excuse that we need to see what the enemy is doing. It’s just not productive any more.

  31. Soccermom says:

oops, bob, guess you’re on our side! My apologies!

  32. wilson says:

    from the linked article:

after being shown a pic of Iffy,
‘One woman seemed quite sure of who the man with the red tie was. “Yes, he’s a U.S. senator,” she said.’

  34. Bec says:

Wasn’t there a story about awful, mean TROLLS and goats? Hmm

  35. MaryT says:

Jane has two experts to analyze interview. BLY has hundreds to analyze her preformance as a pretend journalist, reporter, anchor, or whatever she thinks she is. But, her feelings switch very fast. Last year she was in love with Dion and threw him under the bus for MIMI. Who does she think she is, Belinda.

  36. Bec says:

Agent Smith, LOL too funny! 2 days in a row…hmm pretty zippy!

  37. C.C. says:

For those who want a glimpse into what’s on the LPOC agenda re: building party etc.etc. drop in to Calgary Grit(my new first choice for Liberal blogs).

I still get the impression that all is NOT well with the ground support and Liberal membership as even Grit is left wondering about how much things will or will not change.

I think the captions here rock! Actually could be a fun way to relieve “bias media stress” instead of driving the bloggers crazy simply post a photo and let the captions speak for themselves? Might work to
wean folks here off of CTV once in a while.

  38. Liz J says:

Superdad, you are unwittingly correct in your assumption. The media bias towards any party does impact polls. Some people simply take their slant as the true facts and vote accordingly. Why else would they ditch their credibility to shill for one particular party if it didn’t have some effect?

A stinky and misleading headline can do damage to the writer too but they seem to think it’s worth it.
As an example, Journos like David Aiken are becoming bigger disappointments by the day.

  39. Bec says:

Mary T, as soon as the interview was over, I turned it off. I just can not handle her so I no longer try!

  40. Agent Smith says:

    hehe thnx Bec!

  41. Bec says:

Liz J, precisely and as the PM said to Craig O, (paraphrased) “there was information floating around that I said we would be out of the recession by 2010..” and he had not.

  42. C.C. says:

Soccerdad – yes, the push polling is EXACTLY part of the media bias. You’re right. Give yourself a cookie!
How can a poll show strongly in support of Iggy if people don’t know who he is or can’t pick him out of a line-up of secret coalition dealers? Unless of course those who gave Iggy their approval don’t know who they’re talking about either, or the poll was taken by a largely “Liberal at all costs” fan club.

  43. wilson says:

Jane and Craig are going to discuss PMSHs US interviews, after this commercial break.
    oooh,

  44. WCT says:

“You mean Harper is in My America, and I’m stuck here in Saanich, on an island, in the middle of the ocean?”

With all the publicity, I’m surprised he only had 300 out to “see” him!!

  45. wilson says:

Heh… Joanne, check out that last post please, that was not me, how did that happen?
Wow, I’ve really got someone p.o’ed

  46. wilson says:

Couldn’t believe my eyes, on QP PMSH got kudos for the interviews in US, (AP, Reuters too). A must watch.

  47. Bec says:

Will the real wilson, please step forward?

clarification required of 10:57 am comment. I’m confused…..

  48. MaryT says:

Still another hour before QP comes on in my area. When discussing his interview on Fox, will they mention that Chris brought out that PMSH warned about the coming bad times in 2007, and that ctv and others said he was wrong. Mass is at 11.00 so will have to miss the program.

  49. Bec says:

AHHH, there you are, wilson. I thought something was fishy!

  50. LC Bennett says:

The caption: I don’t care what my union ordered…If those lazy journalists don’t get here in 10 minutes, I’m leaving. Free food and tickets are not nearly enough compensation to listen to this guy.

  51. Agent Smith says:

Hehe congrats Wilson on getting your very own evil twin. Doesn’t usually happen unless your really ticking off glibs. You must be doing something right! Wish i had one..

  52. MaryT says:

Wilson, we regulars know that was not you.

  53. Bec says:

Mary T, what time did you watch the Fox interview? I’ve seen you refer to it twice now and I am assuming I must now wait. Any idea?

  54. wilson says:

    Joanne, check your email please.
Bec ????? Guess someone really wants to be me!!!
Feels kinda creepy having someone steal your identity…

  55. MaryT says:

Fox News Sunday comes on our cable at 7.00a.m. I have checked at http://www.foxnews.com but can’t find it yet.

  56. Bec says:

Mary T, I just did. It is on again @ 4:00 mtn. I wonder if we can get a link??

  57. Bec says:

Ya, that is creepy, wilson. However, I think it is really cool that we caught it immediately. No snowing us!

  58. nemessisss says:

Harper’s a smug prick. Can’t wait til Iggy is PM.

But iggy will never be PM. Maybe you should just give up right now.

  59. nemessisss says:

Wilson the original I hope you realize my remark was for wilson the twit and not you

  60. wilson says:

lol Agent Smith, it happened to me a couple of years ago too, I didn’t know I had an evil twin until canada.com notified me my evil twin’s comment was rejected!

  61. wilson says:

nemessisss , I knew your target was the twit! thx

  62. SteveV says:

At least he doesn’t have to BUS PEOPLE IN from surrounding ridings to fill a room, like some Prime Minister’s I know. As well, AT LEAST he takes questions from VOTERS, something the man of the people you guys call a “leader” seems to fear.

  63. Sammy says:

Fox News Sunday has a replay at 5:00 pm.By sound of things,Fife, and Joel Denis are both on-board with this media blitz with PMSH.I note tho, after their support for PMSH,Taber had to throw in that polls in Que show support for Cons ‘sinking’..and that’s the thot left at end of show. She cannot tolerate any good news!
wilson, looks like you have your own ‘Mini-Me’…that you have so stirred up the trolls means you are doing something so right..and they can’t handle the truth. As I said before,it’s a foreign concept, and their only response is to throw unsubstantiated drivel! Good on ya!

  64. Fay says:

I am impressed with the CTV interview with Stephen Harper. Joel Denis and Robert Fife also approved of interview and our prime minister taking the message of Canada’s succes to the USA and global media. I wonder if this is a hint that Stephen Harper the Prime Minister of Canada will be appearing on British Networks for interviews.
This gesture to Craig Oliver by the Prime Minister to do this interview is a feather in the CTV cap. Maybe now Craig will do Canada a favour and retire.

  65. C.C. says:

One thing the CPC war room and the PM’s communications team could do to support Blogging Tories is to get the links to speeches and interviews up as quickly as possible so folks wouldn’t have to rely on the biases of some media.

It would also be a great gesture signifying the appreciation of the CPC team for the great work that blogs like this one are doing…..because seriously, they’re working overtime and much too cheaply.

  66. Joe says:

Liberal trolls impersonating people. Not a big surprise as they all are a pathetic bunch of desparate losers. Deceit & lies are hallmarks of the Liberal party. As for the clown impersonating Wilson, your buddy Iggy will NEVER be PM. Get used to it.

  67. Bruce says:

The event in Vancouver was a whipped membership deal, the organizer was ordered to fill the seats, so that begs the question that how many of those attending actually paid their own way?

Was any of the missing sponsorship cash, passed under tables in brown paper bags, used to pay for a part of the expenses or for individuals tickets?

  68. MaryT says:

OOPS, sorry, I kept referring to the interview on Fox, with Chris Mathews. Should be Chris Wallace, Mike Wallaces son. Spector, at nnw blasts the piece.
His point is that PMSH did not bash O’s tax increases or other things in the stimulus plan. Hey, that would be interferring in another countries internal business.

  69. Joanne says:

If everyone refreshes their screen, then Wilson the twit should be gone.

  70. Joanne says:

    Great caption suggestions, folks!

I’ll add some of my favs as an update later.

  71. MaryT says:

Didn’t meme recently order all his mps to get 400 new members with 40 to pledge monthly to the victory fund, or they might not get the nomination next time.
Is that Keith’s riding with the overflow crowd.

  72. Bec says:

Mary T, I noticed over at Hunter’s site that you picked up on the fact that “Mimi” is the initials of Michael Ignatieff.

Whoa, good catch. Of course it is and if that isn’t narcissistic, what is, yuck!

  73. East of Eden says:

Sarah – you rock today. I nearly choked reading: Liberals still have kids?

Caption: OMG, I’m late for my colonoscopy – anything’s better than this.

  74. East of Eden says:

On Janke’s blog, some troll was stealing my identity, as well. He did stop eventually but it creeped me out at first. Then, I was flattered that a troll would find my comments so threatening that he’d try to imitate me. His impersonation would easily fool a Liberal for not a Conservative.

  75. Alberta Girl says:

A bit OT but here is the latest from the “friends” of the CBC – got it in my email today.

Check out the “week of hell” comment. Oh puleeeeze.

“CBC’s creative people have just been through the week from hell.

The cuts announced last week will leave our beleaguered public broadcaster a shadow of its former self, especially in smaller communities where CBC is often the only option.

This is all so unnecessary, yet this may be only the beginning.

More cuts to CBC news are expected mid-April. And if Stephen Harper’s hand-picked President cannot raise enough through a firesale of CBC assets, he says that even more cuts will be required.

But there is a glimmer of hope. I urge you to join with me to stoke it.

Viewers and listeners have been outraged by the events of the past week. We have bombarded our MPs with calls, letters and emails demanding action. A storm of protest has erupted in the House of Commons as a result, and the government is under intense pressure to prevent the announced cuts.

Please join with me to turn up the volume by sending a message to the Prime Minister today demanding action.

There is a simple and inexpensive solution to CBC’s funding shortfall.

Among modern industrialized nations, Canada in near the bottom when it comes to investing in public broadcasting. The average is $80 per citizen and countries like Great Britain, Germany and Norway invest even more.

In Canada, our government provides only $33 per citizen. That’s just not enough for CBC to serve as the public broadcaster Canadians want and need. The House of Commons Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage has recognized this and called for an increase of $7 per person – to $40.

Please join me to urge our government to bump up Canada’s investment to at least half the average. That would mean only a $7 increase for each Canadian. Per year!

If we don’t act today, the pressure on the government and the momentum we have built will be lost.

Seven dollars is a small price to pay to keep our CBC.

Please act now… before it’s too late.

    Yours sincerely,

    Regards!

    Ian Morrison”

  76. Soccermom says:

    Thanks, East!

Caption: “Oh for Pete’s sake! Betty, can you tell me what time it is? One of these thieves we invited stole my bloody watch!”

  77. Bec says:

    Thanks for the update, AG.
For a family of 2 that would be $80.00 so in my case, give me the $80.00 BACK and I can pay the broadcasters of MY CHOICE.
For pete sake, that would pay my cable bill!!

How bloody arrogant and entitled does that letter sound, WOW!

  78. Soccermom says:

We’re outraged alright. Outraged that we still have to pay for the albatross known as the CBC.

  79. Bec says:

    CAPTION:

“I heard they were going to give out those cute little brown, goody bags. I wonder when they’ll do it because our safety deposit box won’t be accessible in 30 minutes. Hurry, hurry…..”

  80. Eric says:

That’s nothing, when Dion came to UBC they filled a large lecture hall wall to wall with people and had a spillover crowd in front of the building.

The size of the crowds doesn’t matter to some extent, heck, I’d go listen to Ignatieff if I had the chance too. Even the ‘intensity’ of the crowds doesn’t matter because you can arrange for the party faithful to come and cheer and scream. What matters is if the average Joe walking by the event cares.

  81. Soccermom says:

I don’t think the “average Joe” even knows who Iggy is or knows anything about him!

  82. Agent Smith says:

    Interesting stats Alberta Girl

    We’re paying $33 per person…!? Thats $32.98 more than it’s worth.

On second thought they should be paying us for watching their drivel and they’d still have to shackle me into a chair to do it with leather wrist straps. Then they’d have to pay me compensation for emotional damage on top.

  83. Soccermom says:

Caption: “Lars, the party has only been going 15 minutes and the people are already getting restless and bored. Be a dear and put on that Liberal logo thong we got at the last leadership convention and get these troops energized!”

  84. JDot says:

If you have foxnews, PM Harper is up next, on foxnews Sunday..

  85. Joe says:

Oh behalf of “average Joes” I can honestly say we think Iggy is nothing but deadwood. We don’t care about him or the Fiberals.

  86. Bec says:

OMG, Soccermom, lol! …..and she can wear the “red scarf”, on any body part she chooses?

    Lars???Too funny!!

Interview with PM, good I thought!

  87. Soccermom says:

I always thought Lars was a good nerd name. (sorry to all your Lars’s out there)…

    PM did very well.

  88. JDot says:

PM Harper did a great job on Foxnews Sunday. The PM was on point in IMHO.

  89. MaryT says:

Just add a bit of laughter, I just returned from a baby shower for a great, great neice. Of course the talk and stories were of babies and events. One grandmother told of the babtism of her granddaughter. About 50 invited guests, most with young babies. Everyone turned up except the minister, so they just had a party. While saying grace, the great g/father, aged 90, finished his prayer with, Please God, let all the babies go home with their right parents.

  90. Bec says:

That one for me, wins the day! Agent Smith, did a super one as well!

  91. JDot says:

Transcript of the PM’s fox interview(Sroll down)

  92. Sammy says:

Oh Lord! Goldhawk(with guest host) has Greg Weston and Stephen Chase (G&M) on discussing the economy..this should be a full hr of PMSH bashing as they both hate PMSH.

  93. Joanne says:

These captions are too good, guys! I’m going to have trouble picking my favs. They’re all so darn good.

  94. Joanne says:

Oh behalf of “average Joes” I can honestly say we think Iggy is nothing but deadwood. We don’t care about him or the Fiberals.

On behalf of the average Jo, I agree.

  95. Joanne says:

Thanks for that transcript link, JDot!

  96. Sammy says:

Did any of you kids here watch Goldhawk? Or did some of you mischevious rascals call in to the show? It was AWESOME! As hard as the host,Weston, and Chase tried to slam PMSH,ALL but one caller firmly supported PMSH.Best part tho,was the ass-kickin’ the callers gave Weston, and the msm for being so negative abouy PMSH.one caller said,’I read your columns Greg!’ then chewed him out. They(callers) kept mentioning cbc,G&M,and Craig Oliver for slamming PMSH,and never pointing out anything positive. It was great tv..wonder how Goldhawk would have handled it..he likely would have hung up on them,or just mocked them like he usually does.
BTW,check out the comments on the Spector piece in G&M.Even some of the Harper-haters are saying that Spector was wrong in saying PMSH ‘blew it’ in the Fox interview!!! Methinks this media blitz was a great idea..and ctv having Iggy on mocking the trip just makes him look like a jealous little whiny brat.

  97. Bec says:

Wow Sammy, that is absolutely mind boggling. Thanks for that update.

  98. Sammy says:

Honest Bec,I was tempted to change the channel, when I saw who was on,cuz I can’t stand Weston,or Chase, but I got busy doing some paperwork, and couldn’t get to the remote quick enough.I was really glad I saw the show,it absolutely delighted me to hear folks..and a good cross-country (even TO) representation calling in.The only somewhat negative caller was from Victoria I believe..and he wasn’t all that bad.It was priceless to see the msm guys have to sit there, and FINALLY be confronted on their massive anti-PMSH bias.Majority of callers said they thit PMSH was doing the best he can,and for msm to lay off.Brilliant..and heart warming.

  99. MaryT says:

OT, but what is going on with iggy and O, they both spout off re job losses etc and then go ahead and cause people to lose their jobs. First, all those Dion workers and staff, and now the CEO of GM has been asked? to step down.
Also, great captions for the picture, how many Helpings were there yesterday, anyone know.

  100. Anne in swON says:

Pass the Pepto Bismol. It looks like they’re serving the same old hash!

  101. East of Eden says:

…Liberal logo thong we got at the last leadership…

Oh God, that’s hilarious. Well, a thong does irritate and it does kind of situate itself between…uh…never mind…but to be honest, it’s exactly what the Liberal party does – be a pain in the…uh…never mind.

  102. Joanne says:

Sammy at 8:59 pm – Sorry I missed that! Maybe those boneheads will finally wake up and see that their self-centered snit with the PM is only going to end up hurting themselves.

  103. Liz J says:

But….but Canadians are warming up to Iggy, he’s going up in the POLLS, the love is beginning to blossom. All we need is a picture of him with his new pedigreed kitty Mimi to completely soften the hearts and minds of Canadians.

Sammy, Goldhawk without Goldhawk last evening was the best yet. The callers gave them the straight goods.
Goldhawk never takes that many calls in the first place, he’s too busy enthralled with his chosen guests and himself. The fill-in host did the job right. I’m sure they can screen the calls as well, for “balance”, of course! The fill-in host probably wouldn’t be up to that. Goldhawk would never allow that many to tell it like it is.

  104. C.C. says:

No matter how we slice it folks, I think Iggy’s a jealous man this morning, because compared to his jaw-dropping 300 attendees at his “town hall” meetings, the exposure to millions of TV watchers and an international audience tuning in to see a confident and proud PM making Canadians proud of their country and of him, Ignatieff’s will never be recognized as a leader of much.

O/T – Joanne – apparently the candidates in the OntPC leadership race have their websites up and looks like more are joining the race this week. As turned off to provincial politics as I am right now, should we talk about these?

And, did anyone come up with the link to Harper’s Fox Interview? Of the clips I saw on the news I noticed right away how relaxed and amazing he looked.

Much better than that Ignatieff leer and furrowed brow look.

Had to laugh a Iggy’s comments when asked about Harper doing a media blitz in the USA – beats book reviews in an American magazine all to hell.

What do we get from the MSM about Iggy – 300 showed up for his townhall and he had a cat flown in from B.C.

  105. Liz J says:

East, one may be less inclined to wear that left over Liberal red thong made in China after a visit to the proctologist.

Say one thing for handouts by the Liberals at their last convention, they sure are in keeping with what they do to the people. They assume we’re a cross between rubes and idiots who would fall for a tall dark stranger and give him the reins of power.

  106. Joanne says:

As turned off to provincial politics as I am right now, should we talk about these?

You’re always welcome to go off-topic here, CC. I hesitate to do too many posts on Ontario issues, because my readership extends across the country. However, I certainly will throw in the odd one from time to time.

And, did anyone come up with the link to Harper’s Fox Interview?

I’ve been wondering about that too. JDot gave us this link to the transcript though (scroll down).

  107. frmgrl says:

I found a link to the video of our PM on Foxnews Sunday.
You will find it on that page.
    http://www.foxnews.com/video/index.html

I thought it was an excellent interview btw. The PM once again has made me proud.

  108. Joanne says:

    Thanks Frmgrl!

  109. Sammy says:

MSM are all peeing their pants this am over the BM/KHS $14 million waste of taxpayers money.Fife just on..smirking with glee.
Question: how much of our money has the cbc wasted on this fiasco over the yrs?And what exactly, has this witch-hunt done to better your Canada?Does the money spent by cbc/msm trying to find ‘dirt’ on a former Cons.PM,compare with dollars spent trying to find out all about Adscam?
I would love to see an honest, transparent, comparison between these two situations. Also, why hasn’t there been anything in msm about court case against the G&M reporter that broke the Adscam story, and his ‘source?’
    Oh yeah…that was a Liberal scandal,so it doesn’t count.

  110. Bec says:

Yeah well Sammy, it was not the Conservatives that WANTED the witch hunt, it was the LIEberals and Dippers, that DEMANDED it!

Anyone find a time for the CNN interview? I have searched with zero luck and the PM is back in Canada today, sometime. Leaving Tuesday, for the summit.

  111. Joanne says:

Sammy, personally I have about zero interest in what happens in the BM/KHS affair.

And I suspect that these days most Canadians feel that way. MSM are going to have a hard time keeping this one in the public eye, IMHO.

  112. Joanne says:

Anyone find a time for the CNN interview?

I’d like to know that too. I thought the interview with CNN was going to be taped sometime today.

  113. C.C. says:

Thanks frmgrl – compare the crisp, clear, confident delivery of the PM to the wishy-washy “sometimes”, and non-issue issues of Ignatieff.

    Absolutely NO CONTEST!

I found something really interesting when I was thumbing through WK’s “Kicking-Ass……….”

“Kinsella’s Report Card on Political Journalists”

what’s ironic about these is how Mr. Ignatieff has his own hang-up about issuing “report cards”

As Warren explains “As a public service-and not because I am a sado-masochist who wants his book to receive lousy reviews from political journalists, who are notoriously thin-skinned-I’ve decided it’s high time we turned the tables. I have worked in politics, in different capacities for many years. I have a degree in journalism, and I have taught the subject at the bachelor’s and master’s level. I have also worked as a journalist, in different parts of the country. So I figure I am as qualified as anybody to offer a report cards on a few journalists. It is my fervent and sincere hope that my report card will give voters a helpful guide to who is worth reading, or listening to, and who isn’t.”

    Bill Walker B
    Paul Wells B
    Greg Weston A-
    Hugh Winsor B+

Stunning isn’t it! I highly recommend the comments for each of Warren’s students.

Also recommend the Chapter in War Room where WK labels the media the enemy of political candidates.

  114. Sammy says:

I cannot believe what I just heard on cbc. That eyebrow(another eyebrow idiot!) Cashore just announced that he and Linden McIntyre are doing another expose for the cbc on this ‘scandal’ I want to know, how much Canadians have paid Cashore over the years to go on this seek and destroy mission..that seems to have been his singular focus for how many years?
BTW,why hasn’t cbc bothered to announce, and speak at great length, about Barb George (ex RCMP) SUING them,Hiscox in particular, and Lib MP Boris Waszc-whats-his-name???? Where is that big scandal in media coverage? How much is cbc spending to fight this lawsuit? All I’ve seen,is one article regarding this, and it’s disappeared. Why?

  115. Liz J says:

The M/S inquiry was demanded by Liberals in an attempt to balance things with the Adscam/Sponsorship scandal.

There is a big difference, Mulroo and Carl were not playing around with taxpayer funds. Having the inquiry is however at our expense.

Gagliano said he did what he was told to do in passing out the money. Who told him? BTW, this is the same Gagliano who got money to start a vinyard from our farm loans department. Hope his vino is better than that which is best drunk from a brown bag.

If we ever have nothing better to do with our money, maybe we could demand a full investigation of what role, if any, Chretien played in the Sponsorship. It’s difficult to be both a competent leader who knows what’s going on and an innocent bystander. One thing we do know, it’s taxpayer money that got tossed to wind.

  116. Bec says:

CC, those names and grades say quite a bit about the PPG, in general.
It also tells me that WK has an inside track to quite a few of them.
Combine that with MI’s Globe and journalistic connections and you have a perfect storm of, media bias.
I guess we have all wondered why, so many BIG potential scandals are ignored.
I’d say, look at that list and wonder no more.

  117. Sammy says:

Last comment on the M/S b.s. Just now on ctv,Dan Matheson stated, this inquiry will ‘have no conclusions on civil or criminal liability’ ..so,what the hell is the point of wasting ,especially in the current financial climate, all that money?Matheson just asked Fife exactly that question, and Fife stated that the costs will rise above the estimated $14/mil.Fife states,’it is uneccesary’.
Spend that money,on Healthcare,on anything other than this waste of time and money.
I want to see a wide ranging poll on how many Canadians even care about this decades old story.Scrap it NOW !

  119. MaryT says:

Just listened to the opening stmt in the BM/KS fiasco. What a boring speech, and we are told this will go on for 2 months. If the cbc is so intent on cutting costs they could start with forgetting this so called story. I would rather a detailed inquiry into adscam and the sponsorship scandal. This story? took place 16 or more years ago, did not involve govt money, and will not tar PMSH. This time, with blogs, every lie will be exposed. Every breathless report by a cbcer will be taken apart. The media will lose this one.
And, that man on the park bench, didn’t chretain also talk to a homeless person.

  120. Joanne says:

impostor Wilson has attacked at Hunter’s

Wilson must be doing something right if she’s bringing out the trolls.

  121. Anne in swON says:

Now I know why Gerry Nicholls has been so loquatious in the press lately. He’s disenchanted with the PM and the Conservatives and according to NNW has started/joined a breakaway group called HomelessCons. It would appear that he’s the origin of this rumoured “split in the ranks” he’s been broadcasting wherever he can lately. What a revelation. As I said on his blog last week “Wishing won’t make it so.” Well, he’s gone one step farther with this upstart group. What do you think? Btw Kathy Shaidle and Werner Patels are also members.

  122. Alberta Girl says:

    “Here are the grades assigned”

Isn’t it interesting how the higher the “grade” the more “liberal-friendly” the journalist. Perhaps we need to do our own “grading” WK’s “grades” are in brackets. If I don’t know the journalist – I have not assigned a grade.

    Jim Brown(Cdn.Press) (B+)
Joan Bryden (A-) – Yeah – right WK – One of the Harper Haters – in my book she rates a C- – she very rarely writes anything positive and if she does she “buts” the story.
    Dalton Camp (A-)
Columnists and Editorialists at the National Post (D)Ha Ha – The NP is “perceived” to be “friendly” to the CPC – funny that they get a D – I would give them a C+ – sometimes they are positive and sometimes negative.
Richard Cleroux B ( Ah – my old Friend RC – the one who sent me 7 – yes 7 emails in response to my email questioning his take on the Obama visit. He rates an F for content and an F- for stalking.
Andrew Coyne (B) – Coyne used to be balanced, however he seems to waffle back and forth – I will leave the B for the time being
    Mike Duffy (B+) A
Bob Fife (F) Agreed – although for some reason I don’t think WK and I agree for the same reasons.
    Doug Fisher C
Allan Fotheringham (F) He must be very friendly to the CPC.
    Diane Francis (F) A
    Frank Magazing Graham Fraser B-
    Eddie Greenspon B-
Chantel Hebert (C) Agreed – once again – not for the same reasons
    Clare Hoy B+
    Rafe Mair B+
Don Martin (A-) Oh PULEEZE – I will never forget Donnie slapping Scott Reid on the back in the “documentary” about the 2004 campaign over the good fortune to find the Randy White tape. To me his bias became abundantly clear – he gets an F from me.
Lawrence Martin (B) ( Liberal shill extrordianire gets an F
    Andrew Mcintosh D
    Jason Moscovitz B+
    National Post A
Don Newman (A-) Ha Ha – Yep Mr. CBC gets a D for his biased view of the political landscape
Craig Oliver (A) Rigggghhht – Oliver and Giggles can’t hide their contempt for the CPC or their LUV for Iggy. They both rate an F
    Vaughn Palmer A+
    Sasa Petricic B+
    Jeffrey Simpson B
Jim Travers (B+) He is in the same camp as L. Martin
    Bill Walker B
    Paul Wells (B) Agreed
    Greg Weston (A-) See Travers
    Hugh Winsor B+

Might be a good post topic Joanne

  123. Bec says:

    Members, is the operative word.
It is pie-in-the-sky to think, a far right small c conservative party, could EVER form a government, in this country. There is way to much of a legacy, with teat sucking.

  124. Liz J says:

Why is Gerry Nicholls on Conservative blog list? He may be conservative but he’s anti our Conservative government and seems to have a jealous vendetta going against PM Harper.

  125. East of Eden says:

Liz – I have the same question. He has turned against Harper for some reason and as far as I am concerned, he should be dropped from the Blogging Tories – like Werner Patels was dropped.

BTW – Ted gave me a new handle and Gayle has adopted it: East of Reality. Kind of has a nice ring to it – I kind of like it. I’m trying it out on Janke’s blog. LOL.

  126. [...] to Sandy for posting a link to the CTV interview with PM Stephen Harper, and to Dr. Roy and Frmgrl for the one at Fox (Stephen Harper on [...]

  127. Joanne says:

Anne: Now I know why Gerry Nicholls has been so loquatious in the press lately. He’s disenchanted with the PM and the Conservatives and according to NNW has started/joined a breakaway group called HomelessCons…What do you think?

What do I think? I think that word ‘loquacious’ is awesome! My spellchecker show a different spelling though.

I love finding new words. Thanks!

As for Gerry N, just ignore him and the others.

  128. Bec says:

“East of Reality”….that would make you a Western Canadian, again…lol ps …couldn’t resist!

  129. Jen says:

Liberals to liberal reporters, “the reason why we had to make Drastic Cuts is because Mulroney left us with a deficit”
Now here is what a reporter should say ” really, who do you think left Mulroney with a debt- trudeau did and let me refresh your memory, trudeau ran deficits every year.” liberals keep their trap shut.

Liberals again find another blame ” the prime minister is not giving money to infastructure”
The same reporter should say ” and what did you do but cut funding to the infastructure as well to health, education, military, even to province in fact, provinces lost many jobs because of lack of funding cut by the liberal party of canada which you call DRASTIC CUTS. Now I wonder why there was no global crisis or recession so what was the point of defunding when you should have been funding answer that question” Again the liberals keep quiet.
A very good credible reporter would have silenced the liberals in a second. Question is where are those good reporters.

I am not trying to say the prime minister is perfect he isn’t but a good balance reporting is what the world want we want-not this favoutism crap.

Now here’s mine to the LPOC “had you not stolen- gave money to friends -invented places or pretended that you are giving and had you not made those drastic cuts to suit yourselves and the msm, most likely the prime minister of today will not have deal with all those neglected areas where you failed to attend to and probarly a small stimulus would have taken out. but you failed, you did nothing instead you sit day after day accusing other parties particularly the conservatives for the HUGE MESS YOU LEFT THE PRIME MINISTER WITH.

  130. East of Eden says:

Bec – LOLOLOL. Well, I did call myself East of Eden because the west is Eden and I’m here in McGuinty land. East of Reality – yup – the west is real and the east is…well…the east. So, either name fits me perfectly.

  131. Joanne says:

Well, I did call myself East of Eden because the west is Eden and I’m here in McGuinty land. East of Reality

Ah-hah! I always wondered about that. Well, then I guess I live east of Eden as well.

  132. Fay says:

I quessed the true meaning of East of Eden long ago.

  133. East of Eden says:

Fay – you are part of a small minority. LOL.

When I left Montreal, I had the option of returning to Winnipeg or to Calgary (where I lived for almost a year) but chose Ottawa. My parents (now just my mother) were living in the Toronto area (having left Winnipeg’s cold winters) and they were aging so I figured that I should be close by but not too close. So, I chose Ottawa – it’s close enough to Montreal where I have a couple of friends, it’s small enough to be not like Toronto, and it’s not that far from the Toronto area.

Despite being a fairly dull city, I really like it. There are lots of trails to hike and lots of small towns which have great festivals during the summer months. I would never live in the 416 or 905 areas because they are just too busy and crowded. The only downside to living in the Ottawa area is the humidity during the summer. However, it’s a nice compromise.

But, I sure do miss the west – the whole mindset and warmth of western Canadians is unique and I miss it very much. I also miss the Ukrainian influence in Manitoba and Saskatchewan – I’m not Ukrainian but I love the food and the people.

  134. East of Eden says:

Joanne – if I were a Maritimer, I’d call myself West of Eden. From what I hear, the Maritimes are pretty special in terms of great people and really nice landscape.
