Who’s the Dummy?

Lizzie May plans to give PM Stephen Harper a copy of her new book, Global Warming for Dummies. (H/T National Newswatch)

You’d think she would have learned her lesson by now.

“Global warming for Dummies” right over their snow shovels … ;p

  2. I wonder how many BTUs this book contains. Living in that drafty 24 Sussex, it may give the Harpers about 10 minutes’ worth of heat.

This woman just won’t go away! Can’t she take a hint?

    GO AWAY!

    NOBODY LIKES YOU!

  3. And BTW, there was a printing error on the cover: it should have read “Global Warming BY Dummies”.

  4. Alberta Girl says:

Perhaps Lizzie would like some feedback on her plans.

Nice going Lizzy, lets chop down more trees so we have less plants making Oxygen for us Humans and all because you want to make a book that denies all the evidence on the ground that it is snowing and too cold for my gonads to drop down for a good scratch.

  6. Alberta Girl says:

Of course you have to “log in” to post a comment – wouldn’t want to hear from the riff-raff now would we!

I was struck by this paragraph in one of her posts

“We have had, across Canada, an unprecedented spell of weird and unpredictable weather. Sure, no one storm has a fingerprint tracing climate change as the culprit. Weather is variable by nature. But we are creating the conditions in which this kind of weather is more likely. We hear the meteorologists talking about how it has never happened that so much of Canada has been in the grip of bad weather all at the same time. The repeated snow storms on the lower mainland of British Columbia, with snow piling up in usually temperate Victoria and Vancouver Island, would be a major news story on its own. But the snow storms kept walloping central Canada, and Atlantic Canada, followed by rapid thaws and rain storms and flooding almost everywhere, accompanied with major wind storms. Hurricane force winds devastated the Yarmouth area. Downed trees sabotaged repairs of power lines in Ontario.”

I could forgive Liz if she were a young person, but she has lived long enough to remember crazy weather happens all over every year.

The difference in my mind is that we now have 24hour news cycles where every “weather person” is trying to garner viewership or readership by sensationalizing their reports.

The term “never happened” strikes me as a “head in the sand” approach.

I can remember bad winters here in Alberta but decided to do some research on Vancouver since Liz says that “climate change” is responsible for this past snowfall.

    http://www.miss604.com/2008/12/vancouver-history-snow-days.html

    # October 12, 1894: A small party of hikers including idney Williams, a surveyor, G.W. Edwards, a photographer, and Ernest Cleveland, later to become chief commissioner of the Greater Vancouver water district (and the man for whom Cleveland Dam is named) trudged through the snow of what they named “Grouse Mountain” on the north shore of Burrard Inlet.
    # January 21, 1935: Vancouver got 43 centimetres (17 inches) of snow, still the 24-hour record for snowfall. One result: the roof of the Hastings Park Forum collapsed. There were no injuries.
    # November 14, 1982: The roof of BC Place was inflated. Fact: There are two layers of fabric with a four-foot space between them. When it snows, hot air is pumped between these layers to melt six inches of snow per hour.
    # In 1900 the Canadian Pacific Railway financed a film to promote Canadian immigration to the west. It took two years to film because the film-makers weren’t allowed to show snow.
    # Nobel Prize-winning writer Rudyard Kipling used to own land in Vancouver. “In one poem, he called Canada “Our Lady of the Snows,” a description that’s said to have had a great damping effect on immigration to the country.

I will put the next link in another comment to prevent moderation

  8. Liz J says:

You’d have to be a dummy to read any propaganda by that shrew. Where’s she been living this winter so far?

Has she not even got the sense to at least call it climate change? That’s the term used by those who know they can’t push the term “Global Warming” and have any chance of having any credibility or be taken seriously.

She’ll be looking to get media coverage for presenting it to the PM so she’ll shove it in his face at her first opportunity.

    Out,out damned blob!

O/T – Kelly McParland examines Ignatieff’s (changing) views on middle-class tax cuts from Coast to Coast.

He also points out just where the PM has strong support.

“There’s this guy in the States — tall, well-spoken… Obama I think is the name … who’s been talking up a middle class tax cut for a couple of years now. Thing is, the guy’s wildly popular, and he’s going to be sworn in as President on Tuesday, and one of the very first things he plans to do is cut taxes for the middle class.”

  13. Joanne says:

Thanks, Jad. I got an email tip on that one as well. I will try to put up something later on that. It’s a very interesting column for sure.

Ezra is on CFRA right now.

And when Dizzy May presents the book the PM should do the same and give Lizzy this one:

I was not aware that Lizzy wrote her own biography.
Will her next publication be entitled “Poorly Buffered
Precipitation”. A quick safari to the Sahara Desert will confirm this. Hmmm. Looks like some “acid rain” here.

  20. LC Bennett says:

Lizzy May should have published at the height of the warming hysteria. The AGW fad is now crashing as fast as the temperatures and the economy. The momentum is flowing towards the deniers. I hope that cautious politicians stall any tax-and-spend ideas long enough to let scientists do their work. The climate science is definitely un-settled.

    Conservation – Yes.

    Anti-people, anti-business, anti-democracy Kyoto religion – No

  21. Soccermom says:

“I hope that cautious politicians stall any tax-and-spend ideas long enough to let scientists do their work.” Yes, and I hope certain people are reading this…

  23. Burton Formerly Kingston says:

Why does this lady not understand that her fifteen minutes are over. Does she fail to understand that with the economy failing and records cold temps and snow fall that Global Warming is the last thing on any one minds right now. Maybe she would be better served contacting members of the Greens who ran for office and explain why she stabbed them in the back in the last week of the election when she called for greens to vote liberal or hinted at such. Maybe she can explain her devotion to Dion and the threesome when it involved her getting a seat in the senate, this lady is worried about what promotes her agenda, what is good for her and thats it folks, LIZ YOUR FIFTEEN MINUTES ARE OVER

  24. robins111 says:

I still can’t figure out why any valid news agency would give any time, an/or credibility to that overbearing sack of S#%t.

When, will she just go away and die from a tofu overdose?

  25. C.C. says:

Poor Lizzie’s cry for attention is very touching indeed.
Her book will likely become required reading in Ontario schools.

I caught about 5 minutes of Question Period as I was looking for the football times, and heard that creepy Mulcair going on about the budget having in it something to help us honour Kyoto? I do believe this guy should be the first in line for a “dummy” instructional of some sort. Perhaps a dummies guide to effective listenting or a dummy guide to developing a personality for bullies? This dude really does turn your stomach doesn’t he?

I also saw Craig Oliver rudely interrupt the Conservative guy’s answer, and give Brison and Mulclair more time with no interruption than the CPC representative. I’ve written to CTV about the rudeness.

  26. Soccermom says:

Mulcair creeps me out. There’s something not quite right about that guy.

  27. Fay says:

I also watched Craig Oliver give Scott Brison and MuClair a free ride. Craig Oliver is consistent and doesn’t try to hide his bias.
It does however present James Rajotte as reasonable and respectful in comparison to the others.
Craig Oliver is 70 years old and CTV obviously knew this when they hired him on until the age of 75. Makes me question the future of CTV when they make dumb decisions like that.

  28. Soccermom says:

Re Mulcair: He tries to speak in calm, measured tones not to frighten people…but look at his eyes and you can see rage and hatred, and a very unstable individual. I’ll bet he punches walls when he gets home.

  29. Shouldn’t that be “Global Warming by Dummies?

  30. Let’s hope the book sells billions of copies, thus ironically devastating the Earth’s timber resources.

  31. Jen says:

A while back back in the NATIONAL POST, showed which province recycled the most and the least and how they were graded.

Apparently Manitoba got an ‘A’ for doing an excellent job in recyling.

    Alberta got a ‘B’

Quebec the one province that wanted the kyoto got an “F’ for doing a very poor job in recyling

note: These three provinces are the only ones I can remember, I am pretty sure Ontario got a high grade.

Where did E.May get the paper from to write her dummy story on.? Did she personally or with her die-hard environmentalist friends go into the forest with hand saws to saw a tree, then to trim and slice clean or whatever it has to be done to get paper from the tree)-by hand.
Not even her ‘idol’ Al Gore follow what he preaches, he has a jet, three mansions 3 large cars yet he preaches to the average american to conserve energy, lights, furnace drive less and wash clothes by hands and they to dry. They responded “Go to Canada, they listen to you.” meaning, Butt out Gore go find another fish to fry.

  32. Orville says:

    Just catching up now.

  36. Stan says:

Save the planet, sequester some carbon, heave this book straight into the landfill.

Has Lizzy thought through the effects of implementing Kyoto?
Seems to me that if we increase the costs to the already cleaner industry in Canada and not increase costs to the dirty industry in China by implementing Kyoto, it would cause production to move from the clean factories here to the dirty factories in China.
That would result in more pollution and C02 emissions, not less.
And then we’d have the increased pollution and C02 emissions from shipping raw materials there and shipping the finished products back here.
Does it seem odd that the environmentalists would be endorsing a treaty that would increase pollution and C02 emissions?
What were those people saying about Kyoto being a crazy socialist scheme?

  37. mj says:

I think Ellie May is giving her book to the wrong person.

  38. MaryT says:

If she signs the book it might bring about .02 cents on ebay in a few years.
Just wondering if Bisson brings his spouse to any of the social functions he attends. Like that event a few days ago where they ate lobster, crab and drank very expensive wine.
Thought liberals said they have to cut back. Oh, almost forgot, only us little people have to cut back, not liberals.
Highliner products are off my menu.

Highliner products are off my menu.

Me too! I added this link as an update on the Iggy Enigma post.

  40. Ruth says:

Off topic, but I’ve been wondering what has happened to Susan Delacourt, the one with the nice long blonde hair that was with Don Newman on every Friday’s show, and really didn’t like Stephen Harper one little bit.

  41. MaryT says:

Ruth: Susan is attending university on some grant or something she won for professionalism in journalism. Excuse me, I am going to be ill. She is out of the picture for several months.
She will miss the spring election if there is one.

  42. Ruth says:

Thanks Mary, I’ve really been missing her, except I never watch the broadcast.

  43. Moebius says:

Just wondering if Bisson brings his spouse to any of the social functions he attends.

A dig at his sexual orientation? That’s pretty cheap.

I don’t much care about that, but his performance as “Adscam apologist” for his new party? Yeah, I’ll never respect him again.

  44. MaryT says:

I just asked a question, also never see iggy with his wife. After all the media attention re the wedding, no one has seen or heard from them sense. Do they appear in public. Does iggy have a family, from this or his previous marriage, and I understand dion has an adopted child. We know all about the Harper family, why does the msm not zero in on the others.

  45. Moebius says:

Iggy’s wife has been pretty widely reported on.

Brison is openly gay, so I question why you would comment upon it, other than to be negative about his personal life.

He’s made some big mistakes in his life, especially in joining the LPC and becoming Adscam poster boy, which has pretty well destroyed any leadership opportunities he may have had (in any party).

Honestly, I don’t care who he sleeps with, much like any other politician. Unless it’s Julie Couillard. That would be surprising, and possibly interesting.

  46. ed says:

May is one of the most obnoxious persons I’ve ever heard or seen. Remember how arrogant, rude and interruptive she was during the debate!! Let’s start a collection so we can send her to Siberia where we’ll never hear from her again!!

If I’m not mistaken, wasn’t she unaware that phosporus causes damage to lakes, etc..?? So much for being an environmentalist!!

Wasn’t she caught on video, many years ago, stating that telling a lie over and over again was very effective?? — about propaganda, etc., etc..

Climate, which is weather over a long period of time, does change over time. It’s mother nature at work. And, lately, mother nature has certainly put the lie to Gore, May and David S.!! LOL

According to Lowell Green, Russian scientists say what’s happening has to do with sunspot activity on the sun. For more than two months, there has been no sunspot activity and that length of time apparently is unusual. The lack of sunspot activity suggests, according to these scientists, that the trend is to global cooling!! That we can look forward to cold rather than hot!!

She’s going to present her book to the PM? Since she talks incessantly, I know exactly where the PM should shove that book!! Sorry, but she drives me nuts.

  47. C.C. says:

Off topic Joanne – but on Global right now a report on how thow energy saving bulbs are making people sick.

    Please watch.

Global right now a report on how thow energy saving bulbs are making people sick.

That’s the plan. That’s how they’ll save the Earth.

“there’s fear in the land” Iggy scares Canadians.

You must check out Bourque for the love-in at the Star so far. Comments aren’t favourable.

“the party of hope” – give me a break. Party of the hopeless..and Jack Layton’s more like it.

Still Iggy tries to impress by trying to pass himself off as Obama.

Yes – it was in 1978 when a pigtailed, thinner, bespeckled Lizzie May said “if you tell a big enough lie, often enough, people will start to believe you” or something to that effect.

“Blatant plagiarism but the press gives him a pass.”

Can you even imagine if Stephen Harper started to even use the word “hope” in any of his speeches. The press and the opposition would have a field day.

  53. MaryT says:

Blue Lemons has a video (with credit to christian conservative) with lizzie saying if you repeat a lie often enough it becomes the truth. She used to be a young idiot.
