This will upset the liberals/NDP in a most profound way that PM Harper will be having a meeting(s) with the “O” before any of the Leftards have a chance.

  2. Joanne says:

Speaking of leftards, check out some of the comments at CBC!

  3. Soccermom says:

It must REALLY bother them that their hero Obama will be meeting with our Conservative PM Harper.

sit and rotate, coalition of idiots.

Of course, I’m sure they’re going to demand equal face time with the Chosen One. Hopefully he has no time for them.

  4. C.C. says:

re: Equal face time for the Liberals – No WAY! Ignatieff has NOT publicly cut himself loose from the Coalition. He’s still keeping it in his back pocket just in case a coup is necessary a week after Obama’s visit.

Someone better inform Obama quickly, before the Liberal spinners get their grubby paws on him, that Iggy signed a deal with the party that wants to break up Canada, AND, it wouldn’t be proper for President Obama to be photographed, or meeting secretly with Michael Ignatieff, for it would be seen by Canadians as offensive.

    What’s Obama’s email address????

  5. MaryT says:

So what does this do for the coalitions plan to bring down the govt on Jan 27.
Would the Big O come during an election campaign, I doubt it. And if he knows the opposition brought down the govt, knowing of his visit, how much time will he give them in the future.
    Decisions, decisions.
But where will they meet as the PM is moving out of 24 Sussex. Sorry libs, it is for repairs only, not to make room for iggy/layton/duceppe.

  6. C.C. says:

    Picture This:

Jan. 20 Obama visits – the PM and Obama have a great time, and get along well, see eye to eye on the economy.

Lots of pics. and photo ops from around the world.

Next week, budget gets delivered, and gets a better than average review from all, because it’s very close to the efforts Mr. Obama’s making south of the border.
All of course except for Jack Layton.

    It’s all good news!

  7. C.C. says:

Mary T. – The best place to take him in my opinion is home to meet the family.

Maybe the wife and kids will come. He’s got kids, Harper’s got kids. Both everyday kind of dudes. They’ll have lots in common it will turn out.

The guy who doesn’t fit this picture is Iggy!

  8. Joanne says:

Maybe the wife and kids will come. He’s got kids, Harper’s got kids. Both everyday kind of dudes. They’ll have lots in common it will turn out.

Can you imagine the kids playing together? Except I think one of Obama’s girls is allergic to fur.

  9. C.C. says:

Right….allergic. Hmmm…..there’s always skating on the Rideau Canal….or taking in a hockey game!

  10. MaryT says:

I think the families will get along fine, I am just wondering where the PM will be living then.
But don’t foreign visitors stay at the GG’s residence.
Another family with a young girl.

  11. Joanne says:

But don’t foreign visitors stay at the GG’s residence.
Another family with a young girl.

    There you go! Perfect.

  12. Liz J says:

Leftards may be silenced when they find out Obama and Harper are not too far apart on many issues. More than a few Liberals could be left slack-jawed, they’ve been counting Obama as one of their own, he may disappoint.

  13. Soccermom says:

CC said: “re: Equal face time for the Liberals – No WAY! Ignatieff has NOT publicly cut himself loose from the Coalition. He’s still keeping it in his back pocket just in case a coup is necessary a week after Obama’s visit.”

Exactly right, C.C., they want their photos with the big O as well. Just a matter of time before the agenda is announced and YOU KNOW, YOU JUST KNOW that at least Iggy will be meeting with him as well. Poor Jack may not be so lucky and he will sink into a deep depression. And Gilles? Well, if Obama sees that Radio-Canada clip, why should he give him the time of day? Unelected Lizzie may have to use her built-in megaphone voice and shriek from outside “I love you, Barack!” Should work within a five mile radius…might deafen a few people, though.

Doing things properly went out the window a long time ago in this country, and was further degraded the moment they agreed to let that chipmunk-faced windbag Lizzie May join in on the debates. Which should never be allowed to happen again, dare I say.

  14. Waterlooney Clayt says:

I’m sure it will drive the axis of weasels crazy.

  15. Joanne says:

    axis of weasels

    Heh. I love it.

  16. Bec says:

So how did the red Star, get it so wrong? I even took out an account to comment and that was very hard! lol

I’m pretty pumped about this and it would be completely inappropriate for Iggy, do have anything formal with, Obama. I interpreted the date to be after the inauguration on Jan 20 so the window is about a week before the budget.

Iggy has connections with someone on the Obama, team.
I may have to go google before we head out again. Sheesh, I miss you guys!

  17. Joanne says:

So how did the red Star, get it so wrong?

Obama will meet Calderon before his inauguration.

However his trip to Canada will be his first as President rather than President-elect.

Iggy does have some American friends alright. Wasn’t he quoted as talking in terms of “we Americans”?

  18. Soccermom says:

One of the commenters on the piece in the Red Star refers to the “Coalition of Hope”….sorry to make you guys nauseous, but there it is!

Reading comments at “Blue Like You” is so heartwarming…I am having fun…thanks everyone!

And thank you, Joanne, for making it all possible!!

    Too cool!

  20. Bec says:

    Joanne@ 6:48

    Perfect, thanks.
Clearly I am missing words as I read. However while in my chaos,my FIX with you guys, is worth a mistake here and there.

You be careful now, we tend to bring out “addictive personalities” but it is the best addiction ever!!

  21. Alberta Girl says:

It must just stick in the craw of every leftie that somehow thought that Obama would snub Harper. I personally think they have way more in common than any of the “axis of weasels” (I love it) would care to admit.

    Hee Hee

  22. Liz J says:

Yeah, it’s true, Iggy was chatting about having friends in the US administration he knew from his days at Harvard don’t ya know!! Oh the potential for getting on the inside track to the Pres!

S’cuse me, mistook a tiny sausage on a toothpick for my pinkie and stuck it up my nose.

  23. no voice says:

    Bec, you’re right I’m hooked!

Also, I think Iggy’s friend is Susan Powers (?)…or something like that…a buddy and writing pal from Harvard…(if memory serves)

  24. C.C. says:

Actually, one of the many criticisms of Ignatieff is his speech he gave somewhere, in the USA I’m presuming, where he refers to “we” Americans, as if “we” included him too.

If Iggy were to meet Obama, could we trust that he wouldn’t cut a secret coalition deal with the USA?

  25. Joanne says:

Joe, I’m sorry but I had to delete your comment. It was totally inappropriate.

  26. MaryT says:

Just thought of something that I don’t think has ever happened before. Years ago, at a State Dinner, at the WH, the wife of a VIP tried to duck the line but couldn’t. When she approached the First Lady, Nancy Reagan, she was put at ease with the comment by the First Lady, I see we both have excellant taste in dresses. They were both wearing the same dress, in the same color. This visit will be another first, if O brings his wife. Michelle Obama meets Michelle Jean.
Same race, same humble background, both mothers of girls. Should be fun.

  27. wilson says:

Would be best for PMSH to meet with O after the budget passes, then it is confirmed that PMSH has the confidence of the House.
After that, there is no reason for O to meet Iggy , as “there can only be one President at a time” says Obama.

O supports civil unions, not ssm marriage,
O is a man of faith,
but you sure don’t hear the opps attacking Obama.

  28. no voice says:

    C.C. Re: “we Americans”

That quote has always troubled me…I should research it, I guess, to know more about the context…

Truth be told though… I can’t see how a line like that could be taken out of context…

It just doesn’t sit right with me…

I hope a Conservative leader never has a quote like that in his/her closet(so to speak); because I don’t think it would be taken so lightly by the media!

And I will just add, I like Americans fine…I just would not be thrilled with one as my Prime Minister.

  29. no voice says:

Wilson, I would rather PMSH met with the new President after the budget passes, also!

  30. C.C. says:

no voice – I’ll find the exact context, I’ve read it a few times….just have to remember where.

  31. no voice says:

Thanks, C.C….just so you know, I was not trying to imply you should have put them in any kind of context though!

To me…those two words speak volumes on their own.

  32. no voice says:

    Soccermom @6:51pm

“Coalition of Hope”…yep that makes me nauseous…

But, it is worth it… to know the coalition is still being talked about…I think it makes a lot of Ordinary Canadians nauseous, too!
And that is good for our Prime Minister and our country!
So, in this case, nauseous is good!

  33. JLK AB says:

    “Iggy’s friend is Susan Powers?”
    Is that the
    Susan Powers of
    ‘Stop the Insanity’ fame?

  34. no voice says:

    JLK AB

    Oops…no maybe I have the name wrong…
This woman was a Prof. with Ignatieff at Harvard… she also wrote some books or published some papers with M.I.

During the primaries she was dumped, because she said something (over the top) sorry…can’t remember what.

Now, she is back on Obama’s team…really I better go check out her name…sorry…my bad!

  35. no voice says:

    Samantha Power…Foreign Policy adviser

    Sorry for the insanity!

  36. JLK AB says:

    Oh well…!

  37. JDot says:

LMAO, the left is going to lose there minds…

PM Harper and President elect Obama need each other IMHO.

“I wish you would post more often. It is hard to find good informative blog like yours!”

B.E. Joanne, is a “posting machine” and the best! If you can’t find her on the main page go to the Blog lists and pull her up.

There is always action here but we are worried that she may want a vacation soon. If there is a calm week on the political scene, we may grant her wish. Cheers!

  41. Joanne says:

Heh. Bec, that’s very kind, but ‘Business E’ was actually a spam comment which I ended up deleting.

The tell-tale signs are the URL’s and the fact that the message very rarely relates to the content of the post.

I may take you up on that little vacation before Parliament gets back though. ;)

  42. MaryT says:

Check out the G&M article by Lee-Ann Goodman on this upcoming visit.
She writes about releationships of past presidents and our PMs.
She wonders what kind of personal relationship these two current leaders will have, and makes some comment about IF PMSH is still PM when this visit occurs.
Does she really think the visit would happen if the govt is defeated, or during an election campaign, or with the coalition leaders responsible for such games.
I think the two families will get along quite well, but their policies might differ.
She says busloads of Canadians are heading south for the inauguration. Do they have tickets for any of the events, or is it just an excuse to have a party.
This writer also thinks that Afgan will be a big topic and our deadline of 2011 will be ignored.

  43. MaryT says:

Should have mentioned that Dust My Broom has the link, and comments re the globe story.

  44. Soccermom says:

I think the Coalition of Losers may feel “to hell” with whatever goodies Harper has in the budget, it’s worth defeating them JUST SO they can be the ones welcoming Obama to Ottawa. Their egos are THAT BIG, it wouldn’t surprise me. And their supporters are demanding it.

The GG would be a fool to let this happen though. The fallout would be horrible.

  46. MaryT says:

If the govt is defeated my bet is the visit would be postponed indefinetly and relations with the USA would go further down than they are.
Left a comment as requested at that site. Funny, I got a comment saying welcome back. I can’t ever remember being there before.
What do these people think, have they not paid attention to the fact PMSH has a minority govt and really can’t change this alone. Let’s hope Keith Martins motion passes, with our support.
Let the liberals and ndp vote it down.
    We need a majority NOW.
The unelected interm leader of the coalition will not be PM any time soon. He should always be referred to as leader of the coalition. He is trying to distance himself and we can’t allow that. Layton/Duceppe will not let him either.

There will always be disgruntled Conservatives, it just is what it is.

Some people just cannot see the long game, they have no patience. PM Harper is trying to postion the CPC as Canada’s party, and that means not all Conservatives will be happy all the time.

Frankly the day I like evrything PM Harper does is the day I start voting liberal…

  48. Jen says:

OBAMA said on tape on youtube that he has 57states to visit. He also said that he will talk to the canadian president. Now if Palin said those words well…..you guess the rest.

Remember also that LAYTON wrote a letter to OBAMA it is in the net but for somehow or the other the response letter from OBAMA TO LAYTON was just brief in the net but the full letter itself it no where to be seen.
If ever the opposition parties form a coalition OBAMA will have three presidents to deal with.
