As I mentioned in my previous post, I’m planning to focus on Christmas preparations now, but that doesn’t preclude mentioning some noteworthy issues. The following are just too juicy to ignore.
Jeers:
1. Dalton McGuinty for refusing to make necessary corporate tax cuts. So Jim Flaherty was right after all!
2. Michael Bryant for his over-the-top, catastrophic rhetoric.
3. Public Service Unions who go on strike with a flagrant disregard for the plight of their private sector counterparts. Their selfish actions may further contribute to everyone’s financial hardship. Entitlement continues even in a severe economic downturn.
4. The Toronto TSX for technical incompetence. You are not sending a good signal, folks!
5. Elizabeth May - Via Bec in comments: "Jeers to.. Elizabeth May for saying, “It was embarrassing being a Canadian at these meetings,” at the UN climate conference in Poland." (I might add that we are embarrassed that Elizabeth May is a Canadian too.)
6. Opposition parties and special interest groups that want a quick fix NOW, without any concern for accountability or value for money – or as John Ivison says, "The opposition parties have responded with a predictable call for immediate action — presumably, activity being judged a suitable substitute for achievement."
7. The Globe & Mail – Via Skipper in comments: "Jeers to the G&Mail. Why bother reading that biased newspaper. They would be the first to complain if he gave a rosy outlook!"
And what a pile of crap in today’s Globe!
…Worse is that Mr. Harper continues to actively misrepresent the events of the past several weeks and the motives of his opponents. "We only found out [after the economic update] that they’ve been planning to overturn the results of the election ever since election night," he said. In fact, there is nothing to suggest that the opposition had any prior intention of toppling the government…
Did the braintrust at the Slop & Pail hear about this?
And of course there’s this damning evidence that Sammy saw on the Michael Coren show:
Anyone watch Michael Coren tonite?that old CUPE hack Sid Ryan was on,and topic was the coalition.Of course Sid was singing the praises of the idea. But,he also said that he (sid) and Jack Layton had met and discussed the ‘idea’ of the coalition. When another panelist pushed Sid about the timeline,Sid said this mtg.had taken place 2-3 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE FISCAL UPDATE! So,it WAS all planned well in advance, and Layton is the idiot behind it…
Cheers:
1. My readers, who I’m sure will pick up this thread with gusto. I’ll add the best links. Any topic is fair game.
2. Prime Minister Stephen Harper – Via Alberta Girl in comments: "Cheers to the Prime Minister who keeps on chugging with the knowledge that he is swimming upstream against a waterfall of negativity and anti Harper sentiment." Many others have seconded the motion.
3. CTV – For suspending Canadian Idol! One silver lining in the economic storm clouds.

Cheers- Our PM, who has done a fantastic job and made me proud to be Canadian.
Jeers- The MSM, including Taber, Oliver, Bonner, Travers, Suhanna, etc. The role of the media is to report the news, not twist it into partisan headlines because you are ignorant to the great job the PM has and will continue to do.
I just wanted to report that I just had my car serviced at a very busy GM dealership. I asked about the slowdowns and they said there is none there. In fact, they said they are very busy.
Guess if everyone would just turn off all the nightly news, our economy would chug along just fine.
Ruth – you hit the nail on the head – we keep hearing almost every minute about the slowdown; recession; depression; economy…..etc.
Yet – the malls are full, people talk about it while they hand over their dollars buying big screen TV’s and Wii systems.
I got a real kick out of the idiotic stories in the many left wing papers today that Harper is now being “pessimistic” and that he now is making “abrupt public recognition” of the crisis.
Hey you so called “reporters” – if you had dug just a little bit you would have found this
“Challenging year’ ahead, Harper warns in year-end interview
Andrew Mayeda, Ottawa Citizen
Published: Thursday, December 20, 2007
OTTAWA — Prime Minister Stephen Harper has a sobering message for Canadians this holiday season: Enjoy the eggnog and candy canes while they last, because the party could soon be over.
The prime minister is warning the public to expect a “challenging year” as a global economic slowdown looms ….
But then he was deridded as being “pessimistic”.
He cannot win.
Jeers to our Main Stream Media who jump on the Anti Harper bandwagon to the disservice of their profession and their readers.
Cheers to the Prime Minister who keeps on chugging with the knowledge that he is swimming upstream against a waterfall of negativity and anti Harper sentiment.
Paul, thanks for all your car knowledge and you are needed to answer some car questions over at The Trusty Tory.
Agree with Alberta Girl
Jeers to the G&Mail. Why bother reading that biased newspaper. They would be the first to complain if he gave a rosy outlook!
Credit where credit is due: thought Steve Murphy was a great interviewer.
Prep time is the most valuable in the cooking cycle. Watch for the sharp knives, have your oven mitts handy and always set the timer. Sounds like good political advice to me!!
All the Best Blue and Merry Christmas Everyone
Jeers to.. Elizabeth May for saying, “It was embarrassing being a Canadian at these meetings,” at the UN climate conference in Poland. …
Cheers to…Frederick Seitz
Past President, National Academy of Sciences, U.S.A.
President Emeritus, Rockefeller University……
that has a petition process for Americans to sign. The intention,to change the thinking of the Obama administration global warming regulations.
Many scientist are calling it “bunk”. Why do we never hear as much from them as we do from the Gore’s and Suzuki’s?
Oh yes – jeers to master spinner Lizzie May who managed to wrangle herself out of Roy Green’s interview yesterday by saying that we all “misunderstood” what she said. Seems like she thinks Canadians are “stupid”!
Cheers to our PM and his cabinet, for being proven right, but ignored by the media.
Jeers to the unions on stike during this economic downturn, according to the opposition.
Just caught local news and
JEERS to those that broke into a home in Calgary, and unwrapped and stole all the gifts for this family of six, rent money and other items.
The kids had made a special gift for mom and even that is gone.
Message, do not throw out boxes so thieves know what is in your house. And after the big day, make sure those boxes are destroyed before throwing them out.
I agree MaryT, Cheers to the PM and all of his caucus.
Jeers to the MSM for twisting and lying about our PM and not reporting anything positive about the PM and his government.
BTW, Ruth my son is a automotive mechanic at a GM shop and they too are very busy. He’s been putting in a lot of hours the last little while.
Oh, as far as the media goes, CHEERS to Mike Duffy for being one of very few fair and balanced media people out there in the MSM.
Jeers – to all our elected officials. Stop the partisan crap and focus on governing.
Jeers – to the OC Transpo Union (Ottawa) for calling a strike at this time of a the year. As well as to the Government of Ontario for not tabling back to work legislation.
Cheers – to GG Jean for her decision to prorogue. While I think that it sets a rather nasty precedent, the alternative was absolutely terrifying.
Cheers to Dion for FINALLY stepping aside as leader of the LPC. Please god tell me it is for good this time!
Cheers! To our PM and his caucus.
Cheers! To Charles Adler, Dave Rutherford, Roy Green, and John Gormley for doing the real reporting and commentary in this country.
Cheers! to Sarah Palin for awakening the Conservative base and for not being afraid to be a proud, strong conservative woman.
Jeers and a huge truckload of dirty environmentally-unfriendly coal mixed with hazardous waste to the following:
Elizabeth May: her insane hysteria knows no bounds. The second most dangerous person in the country.
Al Gore: For singlehandedly fooling the gullible of the world into fearing for the planet’s existence when THE SCIENCE IS NOT SETTLED. Putting politicians into a tizzy trying to fix a problem that does not exist. Driving us all nuts with “crisis, green, emissions, blah blah frickin blah”. All the while getting fat and rich on the proceeds. And it’s damn cold out there! The most dangerous man in the world. Should be in a cave with Bin Laden.
Suzuki: same as Al, minus the fat
Dion: same as Al, minus the fat AND rich.
the MSM: for twisting and skewing stories to fit their liberal agenda. For not just reporting news, but making it they way they want it.
the CBC: for their bias, and for continuing to promote mediocrity and screening sex documentaries on taxpayer-funded Newsworld. For continuing to air “Little Mosque”. What do they have, 5 viewers?
Jack Layton: the most dangerous man in Canada, whose insatiable and desperate hunger for power could possibly cause the breakup of Canada. and I’m not talking about Quebec.
The Democrats of the U.S. : who, starting with Clinton, sowed the seeds of the worst financial catastrophe in the history of the world. Their forcing banks to give mortgages to people who had no money and no jobs started the whole shebang. Acorn (one of Obama’s pets) threatened bank presidents and frightened them into giving out these loans. Their form of social justice is now what is destroying financial markets. And the beat goes on with the trillions of bailouts. Nuts.
The Human Rights commissions of Canada: For making Canadians afraid to say what they think and for being a profitable enterprise for some unscrupulous people. For discriminating against Christians in favour of Muslims.
Heather Mallick and the rest of the press infected with Sarah Palin Derangement Syndrome: Shame on all of you for attacking a good woman.
Whew. Now I need to take a deep breath and relax.
Merry Christmas! I feel better already!
I forgot a very important cheer, my apologies: Cheers! to Joanne and other blogging tories, who give us a voice. Because right now with coalition talk, it really feels like our voice has been taken away. Can you imagine how easy it would have been for Jack et al to overthrow the gov’t if there were no internet??? It would have been done before anybody knew about it. Scary thought, that. Power to the People!
Ditto,Soccermom!Couldn’t have said it better..you just posted everything I wanted to say!
As for the auto biz,my hubby had to call local Dodge dealer for a steering pump problem, and they are BUSY like crazy (Manitoba dealership).I am sick to death of the whiny CAW..they can go stuff themselves.
Merry Christmas to all from me also!
Joanne – loved the “Jeers – Michael Bryant for his over-the-top-catastrophic rhetoric”. I would add to that a jeers for the same doorknobs who once said that Harper was cold and uncaring re: economic downturn, who today are claiming shock and dismay that Mr. Harper dare utter the words or be empathetic to Canadians.(Kinsella) Under the Liberal tent it’s still ok for them to be empathetic but for conservatives..not so much. Hypocrites!
Our PM still doesn’t get the respect he deserves. He’s done a fabulous job. The last election confirmed that and if the Liberal/Bloc/NDP coaltion throws us into an early election I’m all for it!!
Sorry, but in talking to the grassroot liberals in circle of friends, I don’t believe whatever poll says that Canadians support Iggy. Too many ground support Liberals still feel cheated out of their voice to pick their leader.
Cheers to these media folks: Duffy, Coyne, Goldstein, Denley, Blatchford, Worthington, Coren, Roberts, Carroll, and those others who aren’t afraid to offer the “other” side of the story. I know that I’ve forgotten many.
Let’s not forget mega jeers to Danny Williams for his ABC campaign.
And he appears to be in the news again re a paper company.
I forgot a very important cheer, my apologies: Cheers! to Joanne and other blogging tories, who give us a voice.
Aw, gee. Thanks.
Cheers to Stephen Harper and Dalton McGuinty for agreeing that Ontario will get its fair share of MPs as part of a proposed reform of the representation forumulas. I may not agree with a lot of McGuinty’s arguments with the federal government, but I was on his side for this one. I’m glad Harper has agreed to it.
Harper has agreed to give Ontario 21 more seats in Parliament (Waterloo Region Record)
Harper has agreed to give Ontario 21 more seats in Parliament (Waterloo Region Record)
Oh great, more Liberal seats? Or can someone enlighten me as to where these seats will be? If there are more in Toronto, then yep, more Liberals. Sheesh.
Well, May really is a radical leftwing American, that’s what she is (apart from a few other things, but they are not fit for a family rating).
More about the Ontario Parliamentary seat-packing here.
If you’re not embarrassed about being Canadian when it comes to movement on environmental protection, you’re not paying attention, or aren’t very patriotic.
Next we will be building an addition to the HOC to seat all these extras MPs.
JEERS!
Jackie Layton, for bragging about his chasing parked cars!
“Old CUPE hack Sid Ryan he (sid) and Jack Layton had met and discussed the ‘idea’ of the coalition 2-3 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE FISCAL UPDATE”
Where is modern day Senator John MacCarthy and the Commission on Anti-Canadian Activities??
Cheers and a Merry Xmas to all you CPC supporters for bringing out the truth in government. It is most refreshing to know that we bring hope to Canadians against the almighty “hosing” we taxpaying Canadians had to endure during the last 13 years of Liberal rule of lying, thievary, mismanagement, stupidity, waste,
obfuscation,Etc. You name it – they have done it.
Keep it up comrades – the public needs us more now than anytime in the past history of Canadian politics especially when 87% of the media is Liberal friendly. Viva CPC
Saskboy, if I were a party leader, I sure wouldn’t be running down my own country on the world stage. Very poor form.
“If you’re not embarrassed about being Canadian when it comes to movement on environmental protection, you’re not paying attention, or aren’t very patriotic.”
I might agree with you if not for the fact May is only embarassed from January 26th, 2006. She sees nothing at all wrong with the previous government that allowed emissions to increase dramatically, even though THEY signed onto Kyoto.
Dizzy Lizzy is only worried about partisan politics. She would have had no problem sitting her fat #ss in that enviroment cabinet minister limo, even though she is a 3 time loser running as an MP.
Cheers to – Joanne. Without this blog for us to rant on, we’d be buying new TV’s every week. Thanks for putting up with some of us.
Stephen Harper cannot escape the poison pens of the Leftist Media. The Globe & mail, the Toronto/Red Star etc. They were dissing him for telling us we were in a much better position than all the industrialized nations of the world. He received accolades from world leaders, our media didn’t like that, not on their agenda. Now he’s giving us a heads up in this evolving economic crisis, telling us it will be tough sledding for the foreseeable future. That truth is now being called in the unrealistic minds of the Left as “fear mongering”.
In our weekly papers in my neck of the woods we have a defeated NDP candidate writing a lengthy letter to the editor complaining about our Conservative MP, who wins huge majorities, is a great MP for the riding. The Liberals have their elves out writing the odd letter as well. It seems their sad state is carrying over into the most holy season on our calender in which we wish everyone peace and goodwill.
As for Elizabeth May, she really is a pathetic piece of business. She appears to be out of control and an embarrassment to this country. Who can rein her in?
Re the 21 new seats. They can’t just be allotted someplace without affecting another 21 ridings. All of them will have their boundries redrawn. Get the info on how that is done, and the process, and the public meetings to be held. Check the poll numbers from various ridings, and I bet that high conservative numbers will be redrawn with high conservative numbers in an adjacent riding and guess what, a conservative MP. Depending who is in charge of making the decisions it could be at least 10 conservative seats. Move the 2 ndp boundries and maybe they will disappear. I have worked on this at both prov and fed levels. I think there is a Federal Boundries Commission or something in charge of this.
Is anyone else watching MDL? Coalition still very much alive?
Jeers for Dominic Leblanc
Jeers for Thomas Mulclair
Jeers for Jack Layton
Cheers for the 12 Liberals that cross the floor….
Are these guys serious? Holy Smokes, talk about miserable peons!
Re: 21 new ridings.
BC and Alberta would also get several new ridings. The new ridings in Ontario would not all be crammed into Toronto. Pretty much all of Ontario’s districts would need to be redrawn.
For example, the Regional Municipality of Waterloo has exactly four ridings right now, but with a population of very close to 500,000 it should have five if Ontario gets 21 new ridings.
For example, instead of Kitchener Centre, Kitchener-Waterloo, Kitchener-Conestogo (which also includes 3 of the rural townships), and Cambridge (which also includes the township of North Dumfries), we could have something like:
Kitchener North, Kitchener South, Waterloo, Doon-Preston (a small part of southern Kitchener plus the northwest part of Cambridge plus the four Townships), and Cambridge (containing most of the city of Cambridge.
Did you hear I only got a grasp of it but it looks as though(nothing surprising) that Danny a.k.a. Hugo Chavez wants to run his province like Hugo does his country.
Warning: You have unions running the show for their greed which socialist Layton supports. Layton uses the poor the sick homeless as an excuse to remain in HOC all the while supporting unions which are the ones that are putting a strain on the little guy and country.
Instead of Layton lambassing the unions for their rise of wages which is adding a burden on the little guy he has the nerve to stand in HOC to berate the prime minister. Look what happens to communist country.
Look, I lived around the Venezuelan region and communists are known to use the poor homeless as excuse to gain power-just like Layton.
One thing though Venezuela is known for revolts; venezuelans are waking up to the fact that Hugo is dangerous and one day revolts will happen which he knows it.
Joanne,
When you are done all of the holiday shenanigans, I think we should “out” one of the policies of the coalition.
On Roy Green today, he discussed the fact that the coalition would give “amnesty” to any military dodger, from a non-UN sanctioned conflict.
The implication of this would be astounding.
Did anyone else hear it?
Bec said “Jeers for Thomas Mulclair”
That guy freaks me out. There’s something not quite right with that man. His eyes are frightening. I’ll bet he has a horrible temper and has scared Jack a few times.
Cheers to an Angus Reid poll, first question, will/have you bought one of these (list many items, fridge etc) in the next six months. NO
When did you last buy a new car-1 mo ago, down to over 6mos ago. That is where I checked.
Sorry, you do not qualify for this survery. Thank you.
What are they after with that survey.
Yes, me too, Soccermom. He is a freak.
It was Dominic Leblanc though that was way out of character. He was over the top.Scary, angry, mean eyes, no smile…it was bizarre! I used to like him somewhat and now I think he is a very bitter man.
Mary T, sounds like a poll to prove to someone that the SKY IS FALLING. That does more harm than any one thing to the economy. PMSH, was trying to play down disaster during the election for that exact reason. It is not lying, it is calm effective neutralizing to stop, what this poll, likely is not doing.
Saskboy December 17th, 2008 at 3:00 pm:
“If you’re not embarrassed about being Canadian when it comes to movement on environmental protection, you’re not paying attention, or aren’t very patriotic.”
I’m sure you would agree with Pres.-elect Obama that climate change is a global problem that requires a global solution.
http://change.gov/newsroom/entry/president_elect_barack_obama_announces_key_members_of_energy_and_environmen/
“… We must also recognize that the solution to global climate change must be global. I spoke a few days ago with Senator John Kerry, who updated me on the recent climate negotiations in Poland. Just as we work to reduce our own emissions, we must forge international solutions to ensure that every nation is doing its part. As we do so, America will lead not just at the negotiating table – we will lead, as we always have, through innovation and discovery; through hard work and the pursuit of a common purpose. …”
It is heartening that PM Harper’s message has FINALLY gotten through to other world leaders. OUR Canadian Prime Minister has been telling the rest of the world that climate change is a global problem that requires global solutions.
http://pm.gc.ca/eng/media.asp?id=2286
“Our government has always believed that climate change requires a global solution,” said the Prime Minister. “Countries like Canada understand that least developed countries do not have the same resources as developed countries to manage climate change and adaptation.”
http://www.cfr.org/publication/14315/conversation_with_stephen_harper_rush_transcript_federal_news_service.html
” … the tasks before us are sometimes — are often difficult, I should say, and sometimes daunting: preventing terrorism from reaching our shores; stopping the spread of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons; bolstering fragile states; helping rebuild societies shattered by chronic conflict; tackling climate change at the global level; sustaining and spreading economic growth and prosperity.
No country acting alone can successfully meet all of these challenges. They are too complex and too enduring to be addressed even by the world’s single most powerful nation. …”
Just two examples. Even prior to Canada’s ratification of Kyoto, Mr. Harper was saying the same thing.
Now THAT is something to be proud of: PM Harper has shown the way, and others are finally going to follow his lead. Yes, I can almost see you swell with pride.
I need to take a break, that should by JEERS TO angus reid, sorry.
As true conservatives, it is not only our right, but our duty, to tell the party for whom we vote when & why we think they have screwed up, or are enacting wrong-headed policies.
If we don’t, then how are we different from the LPC? Not only did they vote in Dion as leader, but kept him for 2 years for fear of admitting what a mistake it was.
If a conservative government enacts a big-spending leftist budget next month, will you tell everyone how much you love it? I’d rather take the coalition, because the CPC would have a majority within 6 months if that group took control.
This is exactly how my buddy John Tory manages to stay around in Ontario, to lose the next election.
Sorry, for being a little “ranty” today!
Listened to part of Adler on line, and heard him/or guest host saying Send them back home, then he listed what had happened to those deserters who had gone home. One was told by his boss to go home, another got 72 or 90 hours in jail and one got about a year in jail. Send them all home, we had/have enough trouble with all those draft dodgers who are still here.
How about taking that sharp pointy stick of getting rid of the $1.95 per vote subsidy and jam it squarely in the Liberals, Ndp’s and Bloc’s collective eye again.
Unfortunately, even if that was done I doubt the Liberals have the stomach to go back to the polls so soon. They will wait patiently for their entitlements that they are entitled to.
Moebius said,
“If a conservative government enacts a big-spending leftist budget next month, will you tell everyone how much you love it?”
Normally, I would say no, I would not but I do not expect a “lefty budget”.I expect a “minority Conservative govt, the economy needs a big tweak, budget”.
The absolute worst thing for the economy IMHO, is a coalition govt, with uncertainty. There is no pretend in that document they all signed. After watching and listening to the posturing from the 2 main parties, I do not see them going away, once they took the reins.
There is to much arrogance, freakish control and pride at stake. NOT WORTH THE RISK…lol
Hey Bec, taking the reigns, I wonder how long it would take for Iggy, Jacko or Duceppe to be bucked off the dead horse they call a coalition. I bet pasture pies to road apples that none of the blustering wind bags that makes up the coalition of the three stooges has the fortitude to face the electorate. They’re probably still nursing saddle sores from the last election.
Bec, agree Dominic Leblanc was over the top on MDL this evening. He seemed to be very frustrated and had to get a lot off his chest. He was venting his spleen, spouting pure gobbledygook. Being a member of the Liberal party with Iggy as the new leader and an unknown quantity, even to them, has to be stressful.
What I was amused at was Duffy saying to Leblanc that he loved him. Guess Duffy was picking up on his frustrations and wanted to reassure him someone loved him, poor baby.
Worst news of all for Ignatieff was Layton saying the coalition was still alive. How does that square with Ignatieff’s clear as mud musings about “coalition if necessary but not necessarily a coalition”?
Thankfully we have a level head running the ship of state while these fools are playing Russian roulette.
So true Bruce, but which cowboy would take the first face plant?
They are still spinning the manure about the Bloc not having any power, blah, blah so THEY, really do still believe in this “crap”.
My question is, who exactly are the…THEY? Are there 12 of them, not on board?
I’m leaning towards the theory that the LIBS are playing the govt, to keep them guessing.
One day we have a good visual and the next we do not…It keeps everyone off balance….but is the govt falling for it?
…..and Liz J what is with them NEVER answering the question? They (in this case DL, but they all do it)
turn every question into a diatribe full of moral BS.
Again, those idiots thinking we will buy the spin that the Bloc is not part of the coalition. They will just not vote no confidence for 2 years. But, what will those 113 members have to put in place to make sure they don’t jump ship. Layton and pals are demanding certain things from PMSH, so why would not the Bloc demand certain things from the Count.
Now, if the Bloc is just to not vote No Confidence, does that mean they will vote yes to every bill the coalition brings to the House or could they vote NO, without defeating the coup? I think Duceppe will demand everything for Quebec. And if they are not part of the coup, why does the stmt say, Canadians and Quebecers, and why do they think the GG will ask them to form a govt. What part of that 62% voted for all the fringe parties, and not the ndp, bloc, and liberals. The coalition was not on the ballot, and if it had been or will be, canadians will reject them all. There will be lots of ads saying a vote for the ndp is a vote for the Bloc and liberals.
Will we see a ballot with only 2 choices, conservative and coalition? And why was Dominic out there speaking, the Count said only he would speak for the liberals.
Here’s a post from the G&B you might get chuckle from;
The Real PS from Canada writes: A man enters a bar and orders a drink. The bar has a robot
bartender. The robot serves him a perfectly prepared
cocktail, and then asks him, ‘What’s your IQ?’
The man replies ’150.’ The robot proceeds to make
conversation about global warming factors, quantum physics
and spirituality, biomimicry, environmental interconnectedness,
string theory, nanotechnology and moral proclivities.
The customer is very impressed and thinks, ‘This is really
cool.’ He decides to test the robot. He walks out of the bar,
turns around, and comes back in for another drink. Again, the
robot serves him the perfectly prepared drink and asks him,
‘What’s your IQ?’
The man responds, ‘About a 100.’ Immediately the robot starts
talking, but this time, about football, NASCAR, baseball,
supermodels, favourite fast foods, guns and swimsuit calendars.
Really impressed, the man leaves the bar and decides to give the
robot one more test. He heads out and returns, the robot serves
him and asks, ‘What’s your IQ?’
The man replies, ‘Er, 50, I think.’
And the robot says . . . real slowly . . . ‘So . . . . . . ya gonna vote
for the Liberals again?’
If you want to know more about Thomas Mulcair:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Mulcair
For years, he was a provincial Liberal in Quebec. He was demoted by premier Charest to a lower cabinet post. He quit and joined the NDP provincially. He then was elected as a NDP’er in the Quebec legislature.
Bottom line: from Liberal to NDP at the Federal level. Liberal, NDP, what’s the difference, they’re all the same!! Read wikipedia for some other unusual aspects.

Subject: Hedy Fry – M.P. builds an argument on false presumptions.
Dear Ms. Fry,
Thank you for your email. I have read all your concerns and all your allegations of double standard all your arguments in support of your position. All your arguments are based on an assumption that there is no difference between legitimacy of Liberals trying to form the government versus Conservatives trying to form the government. This is where your argument fails. That being the case we do not even have to bother to look at the rest of the mental structure that you have managed to build on your false presumptions.
You got elected in Vancouver Centre and that makes it so much easier to make my case as you must be quite familiar with the facts that I am about to present to you.
There is one great difference that you keep on ignoring while you are defining legitimacy to form the government; Liberals were involved in multiple cases of electoral fraud during last federal elections. These cases of electoral fraud denied Conservatives their well deserved majority in the House of Commons.
If last federal elections were to be conducted fairly by Election Canada most likely there would have been no possibility of for LPC, NDP and a Block to form government. I have uncovered four cases of electoral fraud without conducting any kind of an investigation so I am quite sure that there was more to it than what I found.
Sincerely,
Karol Karolak P. Eng.

Subject: RE: Dr. Harper sees his other patient Dalton McGuinty
Hello
Thank you for your letter regarding the current situation in Ottawa.
It’s time to put the country first.
The Conservatives claim that it is undemocratic to offer the Governor General the option of a Liberal/NDP coalition government (representing 45% of votes) instead of a costly $300-million election, so soon after an equally costly and unnecessary one in October.
That’s an interesting double standard.
In September 2004, soon after the election of Paul Martin’s minority Liberal government, Stephen Harper, then leader of the Opposition, wrote a letter to the Governor General Adrienne Clarkson, co-signed by the Gilles Duceppe’s Bloc and Jack Layton’s NDP, suggesting that she use her constitutional authority to consult with the opposition parties, who “form a majority in the House”, in order to find and alternative to an election in the event that there was a vote of no confidence in Martin’s government.
How was this a viable option in 2004, when it served Mr Harper’s interests, but the same suggestion is undemocratic now?
The letter in 2004 from Mr Harper et a. was signed by the same “separatist” Gilles Duceppe and the same “socialist” Jack Layton.
Why was it acceptable to join with those forces then, but unacceptable now?
Furthermore, according to documents received by the Globe and Mail, Canadian Alliance Lawyer, Gerry Chippeur confirmed that during the 2000 election, he wrote and presented an offer to the Bloc Quebecois and The Progressive Conservatives, that would see Alliance leader Stockwell Day, Gilles Duceppe and Joe Clarke form a “new government of consensus” in the event that Chrétien Liberals won a minority government..
On Wednesday in the House of Commons, the Leader of the Bloc Quebecois reminded Stockwell Day of that proposal and asked him why he would tell the House that he would never make a deal with the “separatists”, when he did in 2000.
The idea that the Conservative Government would deny these truths in Parliament in order to cling to power underscores even further the lack of trust that the opposition parties have in the government and the contempt that we collectively feel for their unashamed deception to the Canadian people.
The Harper government has let Canadians down. They let us down when they did not present a plan of action to help the workers, seniors and businesses that have been hit hard by the current economic crisis. They added insult to injury six weeks ago, choosing to fatten the Harper Cabinet by 11 MP’s at a cost of $20 million annually. This is reminiscent of Marie Antoinette’s response to her starving people crying for bread: “let them eat cake!”.
The Harper government deceived Canadians when they continued to pretend that there is no fiscal deficit. They deceive with their assertions that the opposition’s suggestion to the Governor General is undemocratic, and they further deceive when they suggest that an agreement with the Bloc is traitorous.
The proposed coalition government is between the New Democrats and the Liberals only. The Bloc will continue to sit as an opposition party; they have only agreed not to bring the coalition government down, on a confidence motion, for 1 1/2 years in order to allow for stability of governance in a national crisis. Yet, the Conservatives deceive Canadians by suggesting that the Bloc will be part of a coalition government.
Steven Harper’s government performs the ultimate deception when it denies its own past agreements to form similar alliances with the same political parties.

I would also like to give a big cheer to Joanne and all bloggers. To our Prime Minister who puts Canadians first.
Reading Hedy Fry’s reply is an example of how the Liberal mind can twist and turn and end up in a web.
Their pact to overthrow the government is not viable without the Bloc’s support. There were three stooges in the troika, there are still three stooges if we are to believe Layton who says the coalition is still on.
It’s pure fabrication that Mr Harper ever entertained giving the Bloc veto power or any power beyond voting in the HOC which they have as elected MPs. They represent Quebec only and their raison d’etre is separation from the country but their votes count like all others in the HOC. Signing a pact with them to bring down the government is a Separatists dream. Just ask Jacques Parizeau
