Last one off the Entitlement Ship is the dirtiest rat.
CBC is reporting that Liberal MP Jim Karygiannis referred to last night’s Dion taping as a "gong show".
According to CTV, Bob Rae is still gung-ho for the Coalition. However, the knives are out for Dion.
More from the Globe:
…Liberal MP Jim Karygiannis wasted no time in calling Mr. Dion to be replaced before the House returns in January. "Who are we kidding? I think it’s over," he said, heading into a closed door caucus meeting.
"To become Prime Minister at all costs? Where do we take the Liberal brand? … The brand got hit. The brand is good. The CEO of the company screwed up."
The Scarborough MP emerged from caucus saying the party supports remaining in the coalition, but Mr. Dion must be replaced. "The party still wants the coalition to keep together. My constituents want Mr. Dion to go."
He said it’s time to move the party’s leadership race up – a conventon is slated for May – or find some way of making sure it has "a leader who can lead us" if there is an election in February or March.
Mr. Dion’s botched video address was a clincher, he said: "We bombed."
Even more at the Western Standard.

Unsolicited advice for PM: As satisfying as it would be to grind these numbskulls into the political ground, please take the high road and reach out to any opposition MPs who seem willing to work with you and who actually put Canada’s interests first! I beg you.
Throw them a bone and let them think that their petty hijinks have had some effect and that you are now chastened and circumspect. We know they are pathetic, but please suck it up for Canada. Thank you.

Thank God, I hope the three amigos leave and their dust follows them.
Jim Karygiannis is thinking what most Canadians are thinking today re: Dion’s home movie. I have relatives in the states(Ohio) who emailed me this morning to ask why we’re not taking to the streets and withholding taxes in light of this hostile takeover.
Bob Rae can suck rocks for all I care. Bob Rae, according to Blizzard yesterday always wanted to fold the NDP in with the Liberals. How come no one’s holding bare-assed Rae to account on that?
I’m not sure I agree with your pleading with Harper to reach out, when just last thread we’ve already said that he’s done plenty to reach out and nothing was his fault. Stop begging and start being his advocate. I actually believe Harper’s given them many opportunities….the coalition has chosen to ignore those. I’m offended as a Harper supporter by the necessity of the plead to him…talk about giving ammo. to the trolls.
Seriously folks a good break and it’s comedy Thursday for real tonight. Enjoy a nice supper and relax.
CTV is reporting that Bob Rae is going to go across the country promoting the idea of the coalition.
That’s fine, but when Iggy isn’t in favor of it, what happens when he becomes the Liberal leader in May. The deals are all signed, what does Iggy do then or is the coalition leaderless at that point.
BOB RAE ON NOW AND HE’S PISSED! He’s looking even more ghost-like than ever!
Hey Ruth – I just hope Bobby can keep his pants on…we’ve seen just as much of him as I think is healthy for the Canadian people.
Sammy – Bob Rae’s always pissed. Nothing new there. He’s just surprised that Harper’s proving to be a better politician than he was or could ever be. I hope the rest of Canada never has to find that out.
OH Joanne, your last line is absolutely hysterical.
My sentiments exactly and I posted that sentiment ( not nearly as well said) at Stephen Taylor’s before the PMSH, speech. Not up.
“Throw them a bone and let them think that their petty hijinks have had some effect and that you are now chastened and circumspect. We know they are pathetic, but please suck it up for Canada. Thank you.”
Oh Sol, I don’t think Bobby will be skinny dipping in Canada at this time of year. Everything would shrivel up. Better not say any more, or Joanne will cut us off.
Stick a fork in the coalition. Harper just handed ‘em their butts.
Libs will be wearing this one for helluva long time.
BTW…
That’s gotta be the same ol’ Sol I remember???
Pay me a visit!
SOL,
I think that we all absolutely agree that PMSH is doing a great job… but the 3 AMIGOES, are spinning thing with the help of, the Ottawa media and convincing every day Canadians, that PMSH, is the devil.
That’s all!
Boob Rae keeps running around saying Harper is like the kid who never studied, and is pulling the fire alarm do delay the exam.
To carry that one step further, Rae, Dion, Layton, Duceppe are like the stupid kids in class who failed the test and are jealous the smart kid got a better grade
“Oh Sol, I don’t think Bobby will be skinny dipping in Canada at this time of year. Everything would shrivel up. Better not say any more, or Joanne will cut us off.”
sorry, but I don’t think Rae has anything to shrivel.
Iggy on now..doin some major a**-covering over what Karygiannis said.Said JK’s comments were ‘UNWORTHY”..this is going to be a BLOODBATH>
I am relieved to say the least, but very concerned (1) about bringing up the Separatist specter for the next month or so, could lead to a backlash from Quebec, and (2)a backlash against the CPC for playing politics rather than “it’s the economy stupid!!” We need to show Canadians that we can govern pragmatically and not just from the right (a few bones here and there). We need to show Canadians that the “economic solutions are not ALL from the left wing socialist side” – what can I do for my country?? We need to build brand loyalty and confidence and we need to be much more positive.
This has been a tough week on the blood pressure and the old ticker – sure looking forward to the “Merry Christmas Everyone” season.
I say remove Michaelle Jean, install either Preston Manning or Deb Grey as G.G. end this session of Parilament and call a general election. Win a decisive majority. Sell the CBC. Charge Gilles Duceppe with treason. Force Quebec into a ‘once an for all’ referendum whereby a ‘yes’ means get the @#$% out of here and a ‘no’ means thier transfer payments are cut in half and they are told to shut the #$%@ up. Have mounties restrain Jack Layton and shave off his ‘porn-stache’. Stephane Dion is immediately deported to France. Canada is declared a ‘right to work’ nation, effectively crushing the CAW (and CUPE) Mafiosa. Mark Steyn is appointed Speaker of the House. Peter Mansbridge will not receive any pension. A law is declared decreeing that no former hockey player, jazz pianist, CBC/CTV/Global employee can ever be appointed to the Senate because all senators (and SCOC judges) have just have their employment (and pensions) terminated. Senate and judgeship elections begin as soon as the ballots arrive from the printing press. The federal capital is moved to Calgary. The House of Common is turned into a Yuk Yuk’s. (or brothel) Bombardier, CSL and Powercorp assets are seized and become crown corporations until they have been sold. Martin and Chretien are thrown into a cage. Last man standing receives an ‘all-inclusive’ at Kingston. The maple leaf is replaced with the ‘real’ flag and we are declared the DOMINION of Canada. The sissy/pissy pants ‘Canada Day’ is now called Dominion Day. All the books are opened at the ‘foundations’ and the CWB. Adscam public enquiry resumes, this time with NO restrictions. The Liberal ad NDP party are declared terrorist sympathizers/organizations.
All this and a partridge in a pear tree. Merry Christmas PRIME MINISTER Stephen Harper!
That was fun, but I better get back to work now.
I hope Canadians have a good look at the coalition and reject it soundly
support the Prime Minister
Prime Minister Harper could stand on his head for a year and it would not change the minds of this blood thirsty bunch
fh
Prime Minister Harper’s ‘press conference’ today was much more powerful than his speech last night. He made strong points, and clarified *for the press* that the Government was asking the Opposition was asked to lead by example, something the MSM ignored.
This speech of course is being ignored as CTV continues to bash Harper on the air.
The Liberal MP from Guelph signed the petition letter the Libs were passing around today in the halls of parliament…so he is back onside again?
sorry, but I don’t think Rae has anything to shrivel.
I wish there was an emoticon for the sound of the ta-dum after a joke punchline.
Prime Minister Harper could stand on his head for a year and it would not change the minds of this blood thirsty bunch
Fh, You are so right. A CTV reporter said he overheard that most of the Liberal caucus was ready to carry on with the coalition no matter what concessions Harper made. He could do anything they asked and they’d still bring him down. It’s a personality thing.
There are a few that are actually concerned about their constituents though. I think that you will see Iggy lead that crew and eventually coax more to join him.
Bob Rae will never be leader. And Dion is just done like dinner. He’s the leftovers ready for the trash.
Awesome post, Eskimo. thanks for the laugh. I need some of those after this past week.
btw, the amazing Facebook Group setup just last Saturday by a young Canadian who appreciates the democratic process in this Country, has just passed a serious Milestone. Drum Roll please …. 100,000+.

Earth to Bob Rae: Contrary to what you said on CTV yesterday, NO Bob, these are REAL CANADIANS signing up. No “Form letters” here Bob, No Conservative Party tricks sending stuff out from riding offices. Glad to hear you’ll be travelling across the country to see what Canadians REALLY think. Boy, are you in for an earful!
so he is back onside again?
CR, they got to him.
Smarter Liberals surely must sense they are facing an existential crisis here. Since they have to do so many things in so little time, it seems like they are doomed. But here is their saving strategy, gratis:
Ditch the coalition idea right away. Rip up the LPC Constitution. Dump Dion, then caucus votes in an interim leader. Form a break-away group of 15 or so Liberal Independents. This group can vote with Harper, keep this Parliament going for about two years. Meanwhile work to merge the LPC with the NDP & Greens. Call it the Coalition Party, or whatever. Hold a big leadership contest, one-member-one-vote. Charge $50 for members to prepay 5 years of membership. There you go Libs, all your problems solved !
PM Harper could hand the foolish beggars the moon on a silver platter and it would not suffice. It’s power they want, nothing else will do. They’ll continue plotting for the next gong show.
Any party sitting in the House of Commons, given the dire situation of the World economy, that would cause such turmoil and instability, is not fit to even be there let alone run the affairs of state.
“Unsolicited advice for PM: As satisfying as it would be to grind these numbskulls into the political ground, please take the high road and reach out to any opposition MP who seems willing to work with you and actually put Canada’s interests first! I beg you.”
Well said, Joanne!
On CPAC, David Orchard (former PC, now Lib in Sask) called in a while ago, saying this coalition proves the necessity for Prop-Rep.
The Poli-Sci professor on the panel, himself a promoter of Prop-Rep, of course agreed with him, and at one point said “Mr. Orchard is ahead of the agenda.”
I’m now going to pull a “progressive”: aha! hidden agenda.
What exactly did he mean? Is that also part of the coalition’s plan, to ram through Prop-Rep without consulting the people?
Joanne, here are some emoticons for you:
(colon, hyphen, capital D)
a big grin:
The PM is sick, maybe with a cold? If so …
runny nose
:~~( (colon, tilde tilde, open brackets)
The PM needs a collective hug

For those of you who enjoy Adler on-line, go to his blog and read his, part 2 of ” The 3 stooges of Coupscam”
I think his perspective of what would happen if the Right, had done this Coup, is right on!!
Well said, Joanne!
Thanks Gabby. I actually just edited it slightlty for grammar. I’m surprised you gave me a pass!
Gabby said
“What exactly did he mean? Is that also part of the coalition’s plan, to ram through Prop-Rep without consulting the people?”
That has been mentioned by different pundits, several times, on talk radio. I think it was a serious issue that may have been on the table.
Well said Eskimo, I also fully support Stephen Harper. The MSM will never give our conservative prime minister a fair shake . the liberals are always good and the conservatives are always bad.
Charles Adler tells us where it is at in The three stooges part two.
Yet another senior Liberal “heard” from:
http://www.bourque.com/notes.html
….
Oh, a final thought: Surely all paid up members of the Liberal Party should be allowed to vote on whether to enter a coalition with our hitherto mortal socialist and separatist foes? Or is the Liberal party now the preserve of a clique of self-empowered MPs who would liquidate the noble legacy of Trudeau to consort with the likes of the triumphant Gilles Duceppe and the smarmy Layton?
Raymond Heard
Rae has shown everyone that he has not left his NDP past behind after all. His leadership bid is therefore finished.
I still expect some Liberal MPs to cross the floor after feeling like throwing up thanks to Dion.
Yes, Dion’s webcam show was a gong show, and he’s the ultimate bozo. No one, even Liberals, want to be associated with this nincompoop.
But despite all this, I believe, as I just wrote on my blog, that “Canada is dead at 141″. This sorry episode of a crisis, precipitated by the Liberals, has opened up so many gashing wounds in Western Canada and Québec that the breakup of this country will be extremely hard to prevent.
The problem is that PMSH still has a minority! His budget still may get defeated and the GG will have to allow Dion to govern. She won’t necessarily call an election!
To continue to govern after Jan. PMSH needs to form his own coalition if possible. Why not try for a coalition with Iggy et al. for the benefit of Canada in a time of economic crisis if we are in a crisis period and I think a crisis WILL unfold in the next year. Such a Con/right of left Liberal group could potentially want the same thing. All he would need would be 12-13 such right of center Liberal MPs. Surely, they exist and want to support Canada. They could save the Liberal brand and make the BQ and the NDP irrelevant. They need to take the highroad because Dion’s Coalition certainly is NOT the highroad and is downright undemocratic and will destroy the LPC.
Btw, I love your unsolicited advice to the PM. It is SOUND advice. I hope he takes it.
jon evan: He may still get a majority if enough MPs cross the floor — and I am sure there will be some, and their number will be even greater if Dion refuses to resign immediately.
We need to start re-filling the Cons coffers with real cold, hard cash.By the sounds of things, they are going to start a no holds barred pre-election media war. They will have NO funding barriers,as they do in an actual election campaign.I think this is the best way to show our support.
You know,I think this is exactly what PMSH had planned. The Libs are starting to eat their young,Rae will be done,PMSH is still PM,and after this fiasco an election will get him his majority….so,lets all send a little early Xmas gift of some cash to OUR Prime Minister.
WHY IS Mike Duffy, giving Rae the time a day? Is this a joke?
What back track…. MD is calling him out HOOO HOOO!
BR has a big chip on his shoulder..what a control freak!
Btw, I love your unsolicited advice to the PM. It is SOUND advice. I hope he takes it.
Thanks Werner, and others who mentioned that in this thread. It came from the heart.
Bec, Rae is really chippy!! He just got done chewing out Newman and now he’s going after Duff. He looks like he’s having a breakdown.
does the Liberal party think about how this behavior will play out on the world stage
they hope to be returned to power maybe even as early as the next election
(I hope they are not) that aside they play a very important role in Canada’s past and hopefully Canada’s future
please let reasonable heads prevail PLEASE
Prime Minister Harper is reaching out to you
Canadians want this Parliament to get to work
Liberals will get high marks for their contribution low marks for stubborn
blocking of good for Canada legislation
you earn no sympathy for whining that is a New Democrat tactic
Don’t waste our taxpayers money on investigating 20 year old scandals
my parents always voted Liberal
you can earn my vote presently I vote Conservative
you can get back on track please get back on track thank you
fh
Gee,mouthpiece Marlene Jennings, and Butterball Libby Davies aren’t quite so smiley-face’ and cocky on the Braaaaaawdcast! Love it!
Sammy, you know what you are suggesting about filling the coffers is exactly what my husband suggested the other day. He said this is war. Wars need to be funded so we must contribute to the war effort.
I saw the PM’s presser after emerging the seeing the GG and he did quite well. He looked like he was feeling a bit better today too.
This is not over yet. We still have a lot of work do yet. We need to keep the pressure on our parliamentarians, all of them to get to remember who they work for. They work for us.
So if it’s clear that all three leaders of the Coalition of the Inflated Egos and Entitlements are already saying that they’ll vote down the budget no matter what’s in it, I think that Harper should, that very same day go to the GG and demand an immediate election….catch the Liberals with Dion still leading the entititled and two months ahead of their leadership convention. The election would be over before that?
If the public has to put up with the coalition bs for long they’ll be only too happy to hand Harper his well deserved majority.
Did anyone else hear Charles Adler talking to Professor Bliss today? Apparently the opinion is that Bob Rae has done more harm to the Liberal Party than any other pweson over the last twenty years. A lot of blame is directed at Bob Rae over this coalition mess.
Calgary Junkie @ December 4th, 2008 at 4:35 pm, you should send your suggestions to Lib. strategist/insider for Paul Martin David Herle. He just ended an interview with Newman, saying the Libes have a leadership “management” problem, but it’s the Conservatives who have the leadership problem, because according to him, the Conservatives will never get a majority under Harper.
Maybe so … I doubt he can predict the future … but this I know … his boy was roundly defeated.
Take a load of a new opinion poll amid this crisis.
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/12/04/parliament-poll.html
“I think it was a serious issue that may have been on the table.”
Funny how they are all over Harper for “fanning the flames with his subsidy idea” and yet it appears that they are going to put in their grandiose plans with no mandate from the people! Talk about your Hidden Agenda’s!!
“This is not over yet. We still have a lot of work do yet. We need to keep the pressure on our parliamentarians, all of them to get to remember who they work for. They work for us.”
And don’t forget the media in all this. I listened to Rosemary Thompson at noon interviewing Jay Hill and saying that Stephen Harper did not reach out to the opposition this morning. I specifically heard him do so. I would suggest that in addition to keeping up the pressure on the parliamentarians, we also start a campaign where we challenge some of these media. If the grassroots can rise up and do what we have done over the past week, we surely can let these media people know that we are on to them. Maybe I could start a facebook group called
Coalition for a Fair and Balanced MSM !!
The thing I’ve learned in the last while is that there are a lot of women that know a lot about politics. All my life, which is quite a while, I’ve had no one to talk politics with.
It doesn’t matter where you go, with whomever, no one has any idea about anything that goes on in Ottawa. I get very tired of listening to what everyone’s grandchildren have done.
Do any other women have this same problem, or are there lots of political friends out there somewhere.
“Take a load of a new opinion poll amid this crisis.”
It must have PAINED CBC to put that poll up – especially given their first line.
Love some of the comments from the link fmrgrl provided.
They dismiss the poll, saying they don’t know who was polled but they never got called. Poll sample was roughly 2700 people. Guess they must think that is the entire population of Canada.
I wonder if this site or these people would be of any help?
http://www.honestreporting.com
On second thought, it looks like it’s pretty much focussed on Israeli topics. Sorry ’bout that.
Right on, Alberta Girl! We need a coalition for fair and balanced MSM. We really have to get the emails out to the them from across the country and it has to be relentless.
The very fact that Mr. Harper has gotten this far is IN SPITE OF THE MEDIA. I really think there is more truth on the blogs reaching ordinary folks than anything we see on the major networks. CTV and CBC our major news outlets, are conniving and skewing the facts to manipulate opinion and have a supreme hatred for Conservatives no matter who is their leader.
This will not be tolerated much longer. The Liberals are just beginning to wake up. The NDP will never wake up.
I see there was a Big Labour pro-coalition demonstration on Parliament Hill today. This is why we need to keep the pressure on.
Take a breather, but please be sure to continue those emails and especially take part in the rallies on Saturday.
IT is funny to hear the media talk about the huge pro coalition rally as if it is somehow anything more than unions getting out on their noon hours to show how much they hate Harper.
I like the idea of having a short-list of links(or proof) that can help us and by extension how the media view’s Harper. For example, Sandy’s accomplishments list. Gabby’s chronology. Quotes that prove the myths the media/coaltion are bound to spin in the next 7 weeks. Testimonial type things would work also – like when Joanne went to see Harper – Harper also photo’s really well with kids and babies, and his manner and the way he spoke today was really the Harper I remember.
It’s also going to help if, when the media do a good job to send them a quick note of thanks. Letters to the editor and talk show opportunities will avail themselves.
Don’t forget how Layton has this coaltion operating. You’ll see union members and MPs showing up at public meetings to sell their coalition. If one happens near you, let’s hear about it.
Also, each and every time Harper invites the opposition to contribute we should keep a tally somewhere.
Our Wpg.Free Press had anopinion piece by a prominent lawyer (Robert Tapper) who was a die hard Lib.He knew PET personally, and he wrote an absolute scathing opinion on the coalition. He pointed out the mess the NDP/Bloc would make of an already fragile economy.I think more and more people of prominence are going to ‘come out of the closet’ and put this nightmare to bed.
The best thing about watching the reactions of the politicians was seeing Layton’s re face today! I thot he looked like he had been crying.I just despise that little snake in the grass.
Listening to Joy McPhail, Dipper from Vancouver and Sheila Copps on Duffy tonight one would have to deduct they think we have pea brains.
It was really quite comedic to see Joy and Sheila as new best friends, spouting coalition lines.
Their call for Mr Harper’s resignation proved in spades he’s the man for the job, besting anything either of their parties have to put forth for leadership.
I would include in the Liberal possibilities Iggnatief. He has no clue where to turn with this coalition now falling apart. First he was for it, then he went silent.
A real leader knows who he is and what he stands for and Harper is the only leader in this country who fills the bill.
Sammy – do you have a link to that column?
I just listened to Marcie McMillan talking about a poll – perhaps the one we were talking about earlier. Anyway she focused in on Alberta wanting an election being 71% then insinuated to the guest she was interviewing that this shouldn’t be surprising. She then made the comment that – and I paraphrase – People are angry at Stephen Harper, aren’t they? Talk about putting words in his mouth.
From now on Joanne if possible anything the prime minister says on television have the tape on your site. Remember to conclude the transcript of his speech or of anything he says. Reason for this, the COALITION/SEPARATIST MSM may or will cut many of the PM’s positive ideas he has for the economy from their viewers. CBC ‘CUT-OFF’ SECTION should be on tape and transcribe. Let the people who have no outside cable but CBC hear and read both sides to judge for themselves to see for themselve the extent of damage the MSM has done to them.
Many of times when the prime minister is away recieves awards standing ovations for the work he has is doing even the stimulous package which he brought out since last year has not be aired.Too good to be true so why broadcast it to innocent canadians.
The prime minister has done a lot to help with the economy, lower taxes coporate taxes, create job reduce the national debt rebirth the military with pride. the list is so long but all this was kept out of the public by the MSM.
People to rely on CBC, CTV AND OTHER LEFT WING MSM for news is GONE GONE.
Whatever news you get not yet reported on television have it on video and transcribe to read. I hope Joanne that you guys understand what I am saying. Hunter has follow through on many of it-apparently she feels the media is not reporting therefore she reports..
If the world can express their respect and appreciate the PM’s views to give him a standing ovations; WHY ARE we NOT PROUD; WHY AREN’T WE SEEING THIS ON TELEVISION INSTEAD OF THOSE THREE FOOLS WHO WANT BREAK UP THE COUNTRY. WHY DO THE MSM HATE THE PRIME MINISTER SO MUCH THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO BREAK UP THE COUNTRY to AID A COALITION/SEPARATIST PARTY.
Jen, just thinking, perhaps the Party could use the accolades received by our PM around the globe in their ads. Not a hope of any truth unless we pay for it ourselves.
Mmmmm, Jen, interesting. So maybe because he doesn’t mamby pamby to them, he has been shafted. He is SUCH a nice man though. To bad they are so shallow to not make the connection that he is a reserved person.
Just checking comments on the Facebook Group that rejects the proposed Coalition.
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=51442165364&ref=mf
A member of the Group (Doug Musk) has done some research as follows:
I did a seat projection with the Ipsos reid numbers and the seat estimate came out like this Conservatives: 195, Liberals 48, Bloc 48, NDP 16, and Indepedent 1
How do you spell … W – O – W !
Hunter has follow through on many of it-apparently she feels the media is not reporting therefore she reports..
Hunter’s doing a great job. She is really filling a media gap.
We need to call MSM up when they’re not reporting objectively. This can be done by emailing Ombudsmen, sponsors, managers and department heads, etc.
There must be some blogs out there that deal with Canadian media content and credibility too. If not, somebody should start one. I’d link to it.
The petition the Libs signed today was for the GG to not prorogue, nothing more.
Now that the GG sided with the PM,
they (msm, coalition ,’experts’)
are scared she will give PMSH his election.
The’experts’ were absolutely convinced the GG would side with the coalition. hahah
If they vote down the budget, which it sounds like that is their intentions,
Dion is Lib leader.
Will they take that chance??? no
bye bye Dion
With the 75% of Canadians want an election rather than this coalition, GG will not ignore the will of the people.
Can Libs afford and election in February??
Can you imagine the lividity and anger amongst the MSM today – after all the pseudo scandals and negative stories and the failure of the coalition; polls like this come out.
Imagine what the coalition must be thinking knowing that what they did probably will give Stephen Harper a majority!
To add to my preceding comments, you can’t expect columnists to be unbiased. But you do get to know their bias and that has to be taken into account.
With polls that good tonight, maybe all the calls and emails weren’t from Conservative staffers after all.
Is that what the journalists were telling us to believe.
Maybe everyone doesn’t hate Harper either.
How disappointing for Fife and the others.
polls like this come out.
AG, I know! Bring on an election!!!
Alberta Girl said IT is funny to hear the media talk about the huge pro coalition rally as if it is somehow anything more than unions getting out on their noon hours to show how much they hate Harper.
Gee … no mention of Liberal – NDP – Bloc “Staffers”?! What a freakin surprise. cause as we saw in the Rally of Support for Steven Harper yesterday, every FREAKIN SINGLE BIG NETWORK MSM TELEVISION broadcast said …’ oh and that was mostly Conservative Staffers there showing support’. What a crock of sh*t.
I also Guarantee you that more than a few members of the Big Unions in Ottawa were off their Day Jobs on … hmmmm…. “Union Business” … full pay, by the way, organizing and taking part in that demonstration. No shot at card carrying real Canadian union folks … been there, done that. I think some of you know what I mean.
Allow me to make Bob Rae appear to be an even bigger lying slimeball. If you remember, Rae told Duffy most of the outrage was manufactured from the conservative war room. Please follow the link I have provided. It appears on all the big unions web sites. Notice the part where it says to use the Conservative.ca website to get the media e-mail addresses.
sorry Bob, but it appears that the public that is supporting the coalition is, what did you call it, astroturf?
http://www.progressivecoalition.ca/
Bet the budget in January will pass quite easily now.
I knew we needed an election.
There is no hidden agenda from the coalition to bring in PR.
The Bloc receives 40% of the vote but wins 75% of the seats.
NO, if PMSH brought in some form of PR the Bloc would be toast, and cosn would win that 50% majority, guaranteed.
Harper has written on electoral reform that includes PR, he is not against PR.
IMO, Conservatives have to seriously start looking at electoral reform. Cons came in second place in 95 seats ,
that means with some form of PR, Cons would have dominated first and second, in 2008, in all ridings except 50.
Give the job to Preston Manning.
This is the mindset you are up against:
http://whatdoiknowgrit.blogspot.com/2008/12/open-letter-to-liberalndpbloc.html
After all the negative press that I’m sure Mr. Harper has heard, maybe it’s time for a few emails of encouragement to our PM. With the polls that are out tonight, we sure need him to continue his great work.
This is what we are up against
From the comments at James Curran’s (from above)
“All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near. Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him. If he is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is of choleric temper, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant. If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected. These military devices, leading to victory, must not be divulged beforehand.”
Don’t worry Alberta Girl. They’re not that smart. They can’t even get a tape to the TV station on time.
JUST A REMINDER, I received an e-mailed reminder of the rallies to be held nation wide. It said this is not over and I think we need to reflect on that message.
Far from over! We may only have 8 weeks to save our country from this coalition. Please, still attend your rallies.
You know, the MSM , will call the one in Calgary a fix so I am leaving this in your capable hands.
Go Canada GO!
“Liberal MP Derrick Lee, meanwhile, compared Harper’s move to suspend Parliament to the burning of the Reichstag in Germany by the Nazis.” – http://www.thecanadianpress.com/english/online/OnlineFullStory.aspx?filename=n120457A&newsitemid=23489019&languageid=1
Just…….wow…….And thus it begins…….
I’VE HAD IT WITH CBC (and Don Neuman in particular):
Lets get their sorry a**es.
Exerpt from posting on FB Group: Canadians Against a Liberal/NDP Coalition Gov’t:
How about contacting the CBC also. The CBC is owned by Canadians and is distorting our views. They are certainly not impartial. I think they are a disgrace to our country. Being owned by all Canadians surely they have a duty to report the news fairly and without prejudice.

How about this online petition
http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?CANADIAN&1
My wife found it this morning. Close to 300,000 names on it so far.
Can someone please enlighten this confused soul? I know Bob Rae is, well he is an NDP wearing a liberal suit, but Michael Ignatieff, his comments today towards Mr. Karrigiannis is kind of confused me. Is he a pro coalition ? where about does he stand ?
Thanks, Brett. I’ve added it to the update.
Dave – that’s a good idea. Letters to the CBC, but cc’d to the PMO. This will work if we’re tenacious.
…but Michael Ignatieff, his comments today towards Mr. Karrigiannis is kind of confused me. Is he a pro coalition ? where about does he stand ?
Lisa, I think Iggy stands for saving his own political leadership butt. So today he walked a fine line where he had to scold Karygiannis for talking out against the leader, but also he had to frame things in such a way as to not state any opinion on the coalition. He only said that the party was united on the goal of trying to work for Canadians, etc. which is bunk, but anyway…
My guess is that Iggy is wisely waiting to see which way the winds of public opinion blow and then he will act accordingly.
He is no dummy.
Isn’t it just a bit too late for anyone to be distancing themselves from the coalition? The agreement has been published. That was the time to come to a decision. At this point, anyone distancing themselves is simply looking out for their own self-interest.
Thanks for putting that petition up. The rate of people signing it has increased quite a bit.
My pleasure, Brett. It’s so encouraging to watch all this public interest and participation!
Het CC,sorry it took so long to get back toyou on request for link to aforementioned column…I was busy watching Mansbridge, and had to get the bad taste out of my mouth and wash the stink off before coming in to this room!!!
To find the column, just go to Wpg Free Press site,to Opinions section and half way down,”Trudeau would never permit such a travesty”
BTW,I saw over at Free Press, the “rally to support the stupid” in Wpg.was held inside a hotel, with ‘about 500 people’ tonite.Right under the photo is the headline, Manitobans oppose the coalition. Can’t wait to see the turn-out at the Legislature in Wpg on Sat for the “good guys.”I am planning to attend, and Adler will be there speaking so should be fun!
Forgot to post this before, but on the tapegate fiasco, one of the funniest comments I read was over at sda..”while Dion was filming, his mother opened the cellar door and called down,’Stephane your supper’s ready’…the picture that evoked in my mind made me laugh out loud!
I posted it on TT and SDA. I have been refreshing it periodically and have seen an increase in about 2,000 names in the past 90 mins or so.
Joanne, I agree Dion is the weakest link, but he is getting some competition from Bob Rae. Rae has no credibility when it comes to government finances. Rae has no credibilty talking about workers rights, after opening collective agreements and forcing workers to take unpaid Rae days off. Rae has no credibilty as a potential Liberal leader. Hell, he came in 3rd to Dion. Rae’s legacy continues and will always be an albatross around the Ontario NDP party.
And the biggest reason Rae is becoming the weakest link is his pathetic performance on Newman and Duffy today, having a hissy fit a two year old would be proud of. That smile he had on the last few days sure went away pretty quick.
WHEEEW! Thanks Joanne, you see I am hoping that Iggy and company will support PMSH and CPC for at least several months, just so we can avoid going to the polls coming February. Now I can breath.
“Unsolicited advice for PM: As satisfying as it would be to grind these numb skulls into the political ground, please take the high road and reach out to any opposition MPs who seem willing to work with you and who actually put Canada’s interests first! I beg you.”
Amen to that advice Joanne.
I’m going to reserve judgement on Harper for now as he doesn’t seem to be spinning this today in the same fashion as yesterday, or at least not to the same degree.
The government has done some back-pedaling on the economic update, in fact everything seems to be off the table but to no avail.
Things have to calm down and Harper has to reach out to the other party leaders. Of course, they won’t want to meet with him but the optics of that happening will benefit the Conservatives in the long run.
There are hundreds of thousands of voters out there who have no particular mindset as to which party they align with.
They usually go with whichever party has created the most good press over the course of a few years.
“Harper Extends Olive Branch To Liberal Party”
That’s the sort of headline that stays with ordinary people.
Another reason for my deciding to give Harper another chance came to me as I was watching MDL earlier and found that I was on side with both Shiela Copps and Bob Rae about wanting Harper to step down.
That’s company I really don’t like to keep.
Bob Rae is livid that the GG didn’t consult him and seemed quite vehement when he pointedly said that the government is NOT responsible to the King but to the Canadian parliament.
Hmmm. I wonder why he said King and not Queen.
Anyway, now he wants us to be a republic so that he can get his way.
Well, he will get his way and Canadians will show it to him sooner than later.
Here’s your hat Bob. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

The fact of the matter is that in Parliament there is no way to fire a sitting Prime Minister. Should the coalition defeat the government PMSH would still be Prime Minister until an election is held. The coalition etc can beg and plead all they want the the GG CAN NOT give them power. The GG has two options in this instance listen to her Prime Minister or appeal to a higher authority by calling a general election. In other words Parliament elects the Prime Minister but does not and can not fire the Prime Minister by replacing him mid term. So Stephie you can unclench you tight little fists now and go gracefully into retirement when you lost the election and resigned as leader you lost your chance at being Prime Minister.
Hi Joanne,
When I was able to get back to things I thought all of you kids would have already gone to bed. No, you were all up doing great research.
I was over at SDA and a poster suggested checking out a site that explained BR’s ideology (I don’t use his name anymore as it seems to generate an instant hit on the internet) This was an interesting read.
Also I saw above, the link to the coalition supporters.
I went, all excited because I thought that all of the same data would be there from about 3 or 4 days ago.
I hope you can figure it out. One of the bloggers on BT had a posting EXPOSING the sponsor of this Pro coalition site. NDP… it is gone now? Why?. THEY are getting all of the media, even here in Western Canada so far. (we are fair though tee hee) What the heck is up?

I have to respectfully disagree. I remember the 2000 election when the streetfighter from Shawinigan and his cronies made mincemeat out of Stockwell Day (”Petition to change the name to Doris”, attacks on his religious beliefs, outright accused him of being a Nazi, the CBC hit piece). It was a vicious, dirty fight, and Day, being the Christian gentleman that he is took the high road and turned the other cheek.
I want to twist the knife right into the heart of the LIEberals’ self-inflicted wound. They were so used to years of uninterrupted power that they thought they had a divine right to form the government with Mr. 77 Seats at the helm. Their political obtuseness was there for all to see. I honestly think that Dion (along with Rae) went ahead with this without consulting caucus which explains why they were so disorganized.
The end result: Conservative support at 44%, LIEberals at 24.
When a liberal blogger posted yesterday that the coalition backfired politically, I told him explicitly: “I told you so, apology accepted” (which is what I predicted on Monday and they called me ignorant, idiot, etc). And he responded back “F*** OFF”.
I actually was hoping that the G-G would make a decision in favor of the coalition’s just to see the LIEberal caucus grudgingly voting non-confidence against their more sane political instincts to satisfy the ambitions of Stephane/Boob Rae.
If the coalition was successful, the Conservatives would have won 240+ seats in the next election riding on a wave of sympathy and backlash–no doubt about that.
I hope the LIEberal scum feel rotten about what just happened for a long time. And it was all their fault. No sympathy for them.
The funny thing is, it might have been started by Harper’s ‘arrogance’ but the LIEberal response to try to form the government smacked of desperation, greed and was a completely disproportionate response. They could have turned this political asset that landed on their laps and magically turned it into a liability.
Harper may fave screwed up at first, but Dion made things even worse.
I’m donating $100 to the Conservative Party, something I haven’t done in years.
Good article hitfan, I donated to the Conservative Party too, something I have never done before. Bet a lot of people are.
Let’s have that election in February.
You’d swear that all people and even the journalists never ever heard of Parliament shutting down for Christmas. They are playing this prorogue as a really long time for Parliament to be off.
As I understand it, it is only one week earlier than normal. One week!
