What? Obama isn’t the great messiah on this side of the border after all?
What changed? (Fair Warning: Kinsella link.)
BTW, check out the comments from that Globe link.

Friday Update: Where’s the love, Dalton?
“…But we’re up against the United States of America and that’s why we’re going to need to work with the feds on this.”

Yes, imagine that. He is not the Obamassiah. Is it not funny that the Libs love Obama and despite being a Dem, he’s closer to being a Harper type than a Dion type. He’s a family man with two young children. He goes to church. He believes in building brick by brick…yup, he and Harper are very much alike. I can’t wait until Obama pushes something through which blows the Lib Messiah fantasy out of the water.
I predicted months ago that Obama would make jobs in the auto segment contingent on giving out bailout funds.
Must really suck to be Kinsella these days, looking up while lying in bed at the ceiling of his bedroom to see the pictures of McGuinty and Obama, his heroes.
One has Ontario’s manufacturing industry in it’s final death throws and the other about to take the life-support plug away for good.
And now Kinsella’s rooting for the Iggossiah.
Mr McGuinty said: (from the G&M)
“He expressed hope it won’t come to that, but said that is a good reason for the Canadian government to extract conditions from the domestic auto makers “sooner rather than later.”
I take this as a polite ultimatum. Reverse psychology.
The same do-gooders, problem solvers, have all the answers, as long as they are mine, politicians… will be the same to criticize when we are in deficit.
If it doesn’t work, those same guys will say, “wasn’t my idea, they should have done, AB&C, then it would have been perfect”
I didn’t see this as an Obamessiah criticism but more a Harper, ultimatum.

Right, Bec. McGuinty’s very skilled at blaming everyone but himself.
I didn’t see this as an Obamessiah criticism but more a Harper, ultimatum.
My point is that most folks on the left (and many on the right) were applauding the Obama win as a pivitol moment in history; which it is from the POV of a half-white person becoming president, I suppose.
But some of Obama’s policies are not likely to help Canada.
“But some of Obama’s policies are not likely to help Canada.”
Oh my goodness, absolutely. My question is, when the sources of GENTLE CRITICISM of Obama are from the likes of these characters, could it not be posturing?
A bit co-ink-ee-dink? I just see something here that is the beginning of a future plan. Why? I have trust issues….lol
Hmmm. Kinsella has photos of Obama and McGuinty on his bedroom ceiling – kind of gives me a mental picture that is bordering on creepy. As far as Kinsella’s sliding scope, I think he’s floundering around trying to find a hero onto which he can cling. Martin is gone and Dion sunk and, really, Kinsella has no anchor and is floating around aimlessly. I really don’t understand the reason for people like Kinsella – really, what purpose do they serve?
McGuinty has always been a finger-pointer and yet Toronto continues to vote him into office. The man is useless and busies himself with silly little initiatives like coffee cups while seniors are languishing in nursing homes; he busies himself with covering cigarettes in stores and yet we have schoolchildren being murdered in classrooms. The man is useless but, to some, he’s a hero.
Obama will make decisions which are good for the USA and for his political cred. Unfortunately, we Canadians are caught up in solving problems for the rest of the world while our country suffers. Compassion for others is wonderful but, as the old saying goes, you take care of your own, first. I am looking forward to the day when the Canadian Obama fans realize that he is not the messiah and that he is not going to be looking out for Canada.
From some of the foaming adoration I’ve read in this country, you’d think we were an enslaved people and Obama was coming to rescue us. I think we’ll soon learn that Obama is not concerned with the effects of US policy on Canada.
PS – just noticed your counter. Congratulations Prime Minister Harper – 1,011 days of unbroken leadership. God bless you and keep you as you lead us out of the darkness resulting from 13 years of incompetent and corrupt Liberal leadership. Thank you, Mr. Harper.
Thanks for all that, East. Very well said indeed.

That was actually a little sastic humor where I mentioned pictures on the ceiling. He doesn’t really have those pictures on the ceiling above his bed.
At least I hope he doesn’t.

Heh. Yeah, that would be a bit creepy. He did say he had framed Obama posters in his office and at home. He didn’t say which rooms at home.
50 billion dollars will certainly buy some leaverage for BHO,$50,000 for a truck you need to do your job;ouch!
The article forgot to mention if McGinty is working on reducing corporate tax rates.Didn’t GM take a hunk of cash from McGinty not long ago then decide to close the plant after?
The comments certainly seem to learn away from any cash support from the Canadian government.
All the BHO supporters in this country seem to lack a understanding of past Democratic presidents policies. They are protectionist and will be even moreso this term.
Didn’t GM take a hunk of cash from McGinty not long ago then decide to close the plant after?
Janet, that’s right. Here’s a segment from the Canada Free Press article:
“A clear example of the Ontario government’s misguided auto strategy is its decision to give millions of dollars to General Motors to build a gas-guzzling muscle car like the Camaro, at a time when most companies are moving to fuel efficient vehicles,” stated CTF Ontario Director Kevin Gaudet. “Ontario taxpayers have provided more than half the money to the Big Three only to see jobs disappear as quickly as the handouts do. Further, the so-called $175-million “loan” to General Motors in November 2003 won’t even come due until Dec. 31, 2055. Do you know of a bank that offers an interest-free loan without a single payment due for two generations?” asked Gaudet.
Iggy’s already borrowing on Obama’s “change” theme. Could have predicted that…I’m betting it doesn’t last long.
Re: Kinsella – he’s got to make Iggy from an entitled elitist Harvard brainiac to the “every man” he knows needs to lead the Liberal party. Good luck to him.
Very perceptive, Sol.
AIG in the States received billions a month ago in bailout money. Two weeks later upper management treated themselves to a $450,000 golf getaway weekend. When news hit the media the government was obviously irate and publicly warned management of doing this again. Did they get it?
Apparently not. Those same execs were discovered this past weekend blowing $230,000 on a wine gala getaway at a posh California hotel. Hotel staff reported they were told not to put any signs up in the hotel letting others know AIG was there. Someone recognized a few of the execs from the previous coverage of the golf retreat and blew the whistle to the media.
Doesn’t matter what the government or economy does, there is no way to overcome corporate greed.
Love the photo of Iggy on Kinsella’s blog. Was this really the most recent picture he could find, or is Warren trying to make Ignatieff look about 20 years younger for some reason ???
jad – I noticed that also. Am watching the Iggy’s rerun of his announement, and I have to wonder if he’s in pain as because he looks like he is – furrowed brow, and I’m thinking his eyebrows need a waxing. He squints alot also. Not a relaxing persont to watch.
Sol – I’ve watched Iggy on QP and he postures an awful lot. While he speaks, he makes all sorts of faces but the problem is that his facial expressions are out of sync with his dialogue. He may be trying to convey some sort of emotion with his grimaces but he comes across as a bad actor. I find myself twitching if I watch him for more than a couple of minutes – as humans, we tend to mimic facial expressions. I don’t recommend waxing, though. Whenever I see a guy who has waxed his eyebrows, it looks wierd.
Joanne – thanks.
Paulstuff: He doesn’t really have those pictures on the ceiling above his bed.
At least I hope he doesn’t.
I’m glad you added that little disclaimer at the end because, otherwise, THAT mental picture would really be creepy. LOLOLOL.
I have to wonder if he’s in pain as because he looks like he is – furrowed brow, and I’m thinking his eyebrows need a waxing.
Have you ever noticed too, that he rarely looks right at the camera? He tends to squint or look down. It gives me the feeling that he isn’t to be trusted.
