I know it’s Thanksgiving but it sure feels like Christmas after reading that.

If I can quote another French leader
Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.

Wow, that is a real wake up call. While Canadians worry about heating their homes during the long cold winter in the midst of economic turmoil. Mr. Dion is going above all else tax us on OIL, gas, and diesel. Then if you don’t freese during the winter you might qualify for income tax relief a year later. Give me break.

For those interested,Roy Green talk show, will have May,Layton and PMSH on tomorrow…I don’t think at same time! Also, and this should be good,Roy will be discussing the media’s role in this election.
October 11th, 2008 at 6:23 pm
Listening to Dion live now…talking about a” ‘Arper gov’t means a dirter gov’t for your children.”..and dirter isn’t mis-spelled,that’s how he said it

Oui. Je suis d’accord.

What happens with the carbon tax, if people actually do reduce their spending on energy?
Sweden suggests that income tax increases are not far behind. Watch you wallet, because governments of all stripes run on more and more money.

This week the Liberals have come up with the “letter from 250 economists supporting the Green Shift”, I think there was another letter from hundreds of academics supporting something else, the Cadman stuff yesterday, and now today Jason Cherniak presents “The Raid on Conservative Party HQ - The Video.
I must say, it’s not quite as compelling to watch as either the Murphy/Dion tape or Stephen Taylor’s latest effort. Does it seem like they are getting a WEE bit desperate here ?
October 11th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Oh, I forgot - there’s this little gem from Greg Fergus, the LPC National Director just in case you weren’t sure what to talk about around that big Thanksgiving dinner.
“Talking Turkey ”
“Dear XXXXX,
If you watch TV news programs, you will often see spokespeople advocating on behalf of their political party. Sometimes they will be engaged in one-on-one interviews, other times they are part of a panel discussion, with each party represented.
These spokespeople make use of what we call “talking points” – concise statements on the issues of the day, which they hope will effectively make their case in the debate.
This weekend, millions of Canadians will gather with their families and friends around Thanksgiving dinner tables. If you are one of them, and if your family is anything like mine, the conversation will turn to politics. And like mine, your family probably doesn’t always agree on everything.
So I thought you might like to have your own set of talking points, to help you be a Liberal spokesperson – at your dinner table, at least, if not on a 24-hour news channel. Who knows, though? If you do a good enough job around the dinner table this weekend, you might be ready to sit in on a network news anchor’s roundtable during next Tuesday’s election night coverage.
Have a great weekend. Happy Thanksgiving.
Greg Fergus
National Director, Liberal Party of Canada”
He then attaches a list of 15 “talking points”, but I won’t bore you with them unless anyone requests them.
There will be a test before you are allowed any turkey.
October 11th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Jad, too funny! I think Conservative Reporter mentioned that she got the same email!
October 11th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
This doesn’t come as a surprise to me. Several weeks ago Rae said that Liberal election promises were contingent upon an independent audit. He had already promised that some promises would be broken.
“What happens with the carbon tax, if people actually do reduce their spending on energy?”
As I suggested in another thread, since this is a sin tax the Liberals won’t hesitate to raise the rate.
October 11th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
‘Jason Cherniak presents “The Raid on Conservative Party HQ - The Video.’
Did he manage to show the part where all of the boxes of documents never left the building, and were returned to the Conservative offices?
October 11th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
If Quebeckers are up in arms with the very small cuts to inefficient arts funding PMSH made,
what do they think about Dion’s promise not to keep his promises? sounds like the carbon tax and income tax cuts are all he will come across with. No extra loot for Quebec…
Those funding cut reversals and doubling of the funds to culture are pretty much not going to happen now, right?
October 11th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
That letter from Fergus is hilarious. The Liberals are so arrogant that they actually think they can write the script of families sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner.
Re: Cherniak and his home movies - what next?

Don’t wann a good meal, but follow this link:
http://www.congregator.net/medicalnews/tietjen/depopulation.html
exerpted:
The following are a few quotes from the “Initiative for ECO - 92 Earth Charter which was privately circulated at an ECO meeting.
“The present vast overpopulation, now far beyond the world’s carrying capacity, cannot be answered by future reductions in the birth rate due to contraception, sterilization and abortion, but must be met in the present by the reduction of numbers presently existing. This must be done by whatever means necessary.”
A. “The Security Council of the U.N. led by Anglo Saxon Major Powers, will decree that henceforth the Security Council will inform all nations that it’s suffrance on population has ended, that all nations have quotas for population reduction on a yearly basis, which will be enforced by the Security Council by selective or total embargo of credit, items of trade, including food and medicine, or by military force, when required.”
C. ” The Security Council of the U.N. will take possesion of all natural resources, including the watersheds and great forests, to be used and preserved for the good of the Major Nations of The Security Council.”
D. “The Security Council of the U.N. will explain that not all races and peoples are equal, nor should they be. Those races proven superior by superior achievements ought to rule the lesser races, caring for them on suffrance that they cooperate with The Security Council.” For the complete document see http://wealth4freedom.com/population.html
What is the extent of the population control movement? To what lengths will the environmental extemists go to in order to accomplish their goal? What is their goal? The following is a quote by New Age writer, Sam Keen. He attended the 1996 conference in San Francisco, sponsored by Mikhail Gorbachev. There he made the statement that some of you may be familiar with….
“We must speak more clearly about sexuality, contraception, about abortion, about values that control population, because the ecological crisis, in short, is the population crisis. Cut the population by 90% and there aren’t enough people left to do a great deal of ecological damage.”
Of course our environmental problems, which includes the population explosion, need to be addressed…..however….I don’t think the Creator would require that we all kill each other off in order to solve these problems.
Maurice Strong, Ted Turner, Gorbachev and many other so called environmentalists, are very rich and powerful. How did they get this way? Did they exploit natural resources to attain this wealth and power? Is extreme environmentalism an excuse for them to gain more power, control, wealth and a feeling of safety from the challenges encountered in an uncertain world? Are some of our environmental problems being encouraged, for the time being, by those in power, to accomplish their goal of One World Government. Gorbachev was quoted as saying that the environment was the cornerstone of the New World Order.. An article I wrote…”Purifying Our Environment” discusses what I feel is the root solution to our environmental problems. The link is http://www.congregator.net/medicalnews/tietjen/purifying.html
Is this what Mr Dion has in mind? Is this the “hidden agenda” that the Liberals have?
Bon appetit!

In Ottawa for the Thanksgiving weekend and who shows up at my Father-in-law’s door? MP Pierre Poilievre! What en engaging man. Very impressive to talk to and clearly in no danger of losing, based on the lawn signs in this riding. Let’s hope it is the same in many other ridings on Tuesday!
October 11th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
Hey, Glenn! That’s so cool. Imagine Pierre Poilievre knocking at the door.
He seems very impressive on TV. I’m sure he would be even more so in person. Great political future ahead for that young man. Happy Thanksgiving!

“Talking Turkey ”
“Dear XXXXX
As you and your loved ones sit down to enjoy your turkey dinner, the talk around the dinner table might very well be about the upcoming election on Tuesday.
So I thought you might like to have your own set of talking points, to help you be a Conservative spokesperson – at your dinner table, at least, if not on a 24-hour news channel. Who knows, though? If you do a good enough job around the dinner table this weekend, you might be ready to sit in on a network news anchor’s roundtable during next Tuesday’s election night coverage.
Have a great weekend. Happy Thanksgiving.
1. Thses dinner candles are really nice. We might need to use them more often as Dion’s green shift is going to raise our electricity bills.
2. This turkey is cooked perfectly, but if Dion wins it will cost more to cook it in my natural gas stove.
3. It’s a little cool in here. I’ll turn up the heat, but don’t expect me to do that if Dion wins the election. He wants to tax our heating bill.
4. I get Monday off for the Thanksgiving holiday. If Dion gets in every day will be a holiday as my manufacturing job will go to China.
5. If someone wants to make a wish with the wishbone, tell them the only wish allowed is for a Conservative majority.
6. Bob Rae- Minister of Finance
7. If Stephane Dion was Prime Minister, the turkey would not be ready for another 30 days. He would need to have meetings for a 30 day period to decide how to cook the turkey.
October 11th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
lucky you; I got a liberal hack, who knocked on my door eventhough I have a picture of Dion (& Layton too) on my door with a red circle/line over his face; these jokers are just out to clueless
October 11th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Paul, your list is hilarious!! You should post that on your own blog as well.
October 11th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
x2para, you’re braver than I am. I’ve got a picture of my Liberal MP with a moustache, black tooth and other assorted scribblings on the campaign literature, but I keep it near my computer to keep me focussed.
Also several large Conservative campaign signs and a photo of Dion with his typical confused shrug.
October 12th, 2008 at 12:03 am
So Dion will immediately implement his favorite wish..the green shift…

October 12th, 2008 at 11:53 am
You forgot a few Paul
9) If Dion was PM there’d be a run on Husky puppies and no doubt some brownnoser would eventually name their first born Kyoto.
10) If Dion was Prime Minister Bob Rae, Iggy and Gerard would have to get REAL jobs….might I suggest a circus or children’s theatre where puppets figure prominently?
11) If Dion was Prime Minister he’d look ridiculous in a grass skirt or caftan in the group photo at the G7
12) If Dion was Prime Minister families would be so strapped for cash that puffins would be the bird of choice for holidays. “I get the drumstick!”
October 13th, 2008 at 12:04 am
This is remarkable.
I’ve never heard of a leader campaigning on NOT keeping his promises.
