Are you kidding me, Don?
But if he messes up on the world stage, will you still be there to defend him?

Update: Oh, that’s right Macleans . Shoot the messenger. Brilliant. (Definitely cancelling my subscription.)
Nobody says that about Mike Duffy and gets away with it. Macleans is a despicable magazine.

The fact that the media have been all over Stephen Harper for the last week for not “getting it” and not “feeling the pain” are jumping to the defense of Dion.
If this doesn’t prove to Canada that our media are biased, I don’t know what does.
October 9th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Ok, I think Martin needs to hear from us
dmartin@nationalpost.com
If anything Mr. Martin what this does is, thanks to CTV for airing it does a public service to the whole of the country. I wouldn’t trust Mr. Dion with my kid’s piggy bank…never mind running the country.
Don Martin needs to stop making excuses for a bad Liberal choice.
Stephen Harper just put into words what most of us thought when watching that mess.
Tough question for Martin maybe but not my 10 year old watching who said “what’s wrong with him?”
October 9th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
And now you know, why Don Martin is a regular on the Braaaaaaaawdcast!
October 9th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Also, I think it’s time the National Post hears from us also. I can’t believe that crap that’s written under their banner.
Maybe it’s time Martin takes a hike from the Post?

Lloyd Robertson just had a clip on the late news. He showed a five second segment of the tape and then said that the Conservatives were ‘quick to pounce on it’, and that the Liberals said that Dion simply misunderstood the question.
I smell a set-up.
October 9th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Thanks, Paulsstuff! Great news. Let’s hope that turns out to be a trend.
October 9th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
It’s easy to see the Liberal war room is in full sppin cycle trying to get their media friends to turn this into a bad Harper thing.
I would just like to see the Tory war room respond in kind.
October 9th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
I can’t believe it, just switched to the cbc National and saw Peter showing the clip, and commenting.
Have the media woken up to what they have done, and Dion could be PM.
October 9th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
I think that will be the trend Joanne. The polling companies have done all they can for the Liberal’s. With only a few days left you will now see the true numbers emerging. These polling companies know their reputation is at stake if they miss the mark by to much on election day.
October 9th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Jo,did you catch the bit with Fife on the National tho, where he says:Harper concedes that he could lose the election to Dion!
More media pile on…see Adam Radwanski’s post at G&M
October 9th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
“pounce on it” - Harper did no such thing. Lloyd Robertson needs to clean out his ear holes. Duffy didn’t think it was a misunderstanding.
Liberals are taking Canadians for fools, but it seems that the only ones buying it are folks who have lowered their leadership standard or have some sick wish for this country to go to hell in a hand basket.
This clip is out there, and Robertson’s just one gnat in a small swarm.
Let’s turn this sucker around!
What we’ve seen happen this past week after the debates is a case of the media propping up a man who doesn’t deserve to be PM.

It’s like a dysfunctional family, and they’re all the co-dependents denying that Daddy has a problem.
October 9th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
Just wrote several notes. Duffy, CTV, National Post, Don Martin.
Oh, and I think Michael Coren should have links and comments.
Hope you all are doing the same. Write and fill those mailboxes
October 9th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
I have a problem with Andrew Coyne from McLeans. Supposedly an advocate for less tax. Tonight on CBC” at issue” not one mention of carbon tax and he calls Dion more of a leader than Harper. McLeans has lost my subscription.
October 9th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
Now Canwest news is out to defend poor Dion. All journalist run out to make excuses for Dion and attack Harper. Is this fair and balanced reporting? What have they all been promised Sennate spots? I can’t believe they are pretending his ready to lead this country. Shame on these journalist for perpetuating a myth..
October 9th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
You pathetic lowlife! Please remove Huggan’s post Joanne. Shows more leftist colours than I care to lend any credibility to with any more exposure.
October 9th, 2008 at 11:56 pm
Fay - write them and tell them. It does no good to just stew about it. We have voices…let’s use them.
Call it what it is Fay, some MSM are propping Dion up and lying for him too.
October 9th, 2008 at 11:57 pm
Now the Liberals are counting on Chretien to get them out of this tomorrow.
Is there anything they will not try?
October 10th, 2008 at 12:05 am
With a handicapped g/son I strongly object to those comments and agree with Sol.
Also, went thru the ekos poll data and choked when I read that respondents give their answers by hitting a number on their phone keypad. How many of you have ever hit a wrong number when dialing or going thru voice mail from hell. Press 1 for this and press 2 for that. Could that be why the polls have been all over the place.
October 10th, 2008 at 12:09 am
I understand that Chretien is going to tell Canada where the sponsorship money went… or am I dreaming again.
October 10th, 2008 at 12:19 am
So Kinsella’s on the excuse making band wagon now and wondering if the Tory war room will make fun of facial paralysis now?
Dion’s stumble isn’t in that league, but it appears that that’s the hand those propping up Dion are going to play…including Kinsella it seems.
Best check for youselves kids.
October 10th, 2008 at 12:31 am
These media apologists are thankfully getting their a$$es handed to them. Don Martin somehow blaming Harper for being a meanie. WHAT!!!
October 10th, 2008 at 12:37 am
On another point Don should remember is that the other night when Stephen Harper suggested that it was a good time to buy stocks, the media could not go fast enough to Stephen Dion and Jack Layton both expressing the fact that this proves that Harper doesn’t get it.
And the next Day Donny Martin was there expressing his disgust that Harper didn’t feel the pain of Canadians.
So now the shoe is on the other foot. Dion is the focus of the gaffe and what does Donny boy do - he blames Stephen Harper.
What a partisan hack
October 10th, 2008 at 1:07 am
Most of the commentors on Don’s article are not giving him any quarter and rightly so. i remember in the last campaign where he tried to bury Scott Reid’s comment that “Alberta can blow him”. i’d like to hammer on him too, but I refuse to subscribe to any MSM website or otherwise.
October 10th, 2008 at 1:18 am
I’d been under the impression that Dion was set to face reporters’ questions, following his Lavalle speech, in the wake of this latest development. I haven’t seen any follow up in that regard. In fact, the thermostat has been turned right down, and by the late news, all of a sudden the tables have been turned! It’s becoming a story about poor, symathetic Dion caught in an embarrassing minor gaffe, and it is mean Harper who is taking unfair advantage.
October 10th, 2008 at 1:28 am
This is nuclear meltdown The Conservatives would do well to just let it roll the Lieberanos are already trying to spin it as an attack on a “disability” we have all watched Dion flop around like a wounded seal (phoque) in interviews he very obviously DOES NOT UNDERSTAND ENGLISH. So is not an attack on a “disability” it is an obvious “inability” to answer a very simple “softball question” by an interviewer who was not wearing a blue sweater, to the best of my recollection. Stephane Dion is not fit to be my P M .
cheers Bubba
October 10th, 2008 at 1:29 am
NNW has the headline, CTV just handed Dion the election. This is worse than the Chretain face ad.
No it isn’t. Chretain was the PM going for re-election. He did not make that ad.
Dion screwed up and he wants to be PM. Hiding this from the public would maybe give him the election.
The conservatives had nothing to do with this video.
And why are some media crying. Isn’t that what they have wanted for over 2 years, the defeat of PMSH.
And now that they might get their wish they are upset.
What else has been hidden from us by the media. Did his interview with Peter have to be restarted, or stopped several times for better answers or delivery.
Come to think of it, how many times has Dion given a speech or interview off the cuff and not screwed up at least once in pronounciation or intent if it went on for over 10 minutes. How many times has he had to turn to others to have a question explained. And he wants to be on the world stage, with no one there to translate english for him. I would hope that CTV has cost him the election.
Re his pact with Lizzie. A question for all green voters who will switch. You realize she hopes you vote liberal so she can get a senate seat and to hell with the green party. If Dion loses she might have to get a job as I am sure the party will be done with her.
October 10th, 2008 at 3:01 am
It’s not Dion’s face that’s paralyzed. It’s his mind.
October 10th, 2008 at 6:51 am
You pathetic lowlife! Please remove Huggan’s post Joanne. Shows more leftist colours than I care to lend any credibility to with any more exposure.
Thanks Sol. I have fed the appropriate information to my very hungry filter.

I really, really hope that Canadians see the hypocrasy and bias of our media - to even suggest that somehow this is in any way, the fault of the Tories is really making a stretch. To do so - after the way they have treated Stephen Harper in the last few days is blatant hypocrasy.
October 10th, 2008 at 7:32 am
And yet, despite Dion scaring Canadian’s into believing economical armageddon is upon us, more good news for the Canadian economy. Maybe Don Martin will ask Dion to explain.

For some great reading this am:
Sun Media,Greg Weston- Prime Minister Dion loses something in translation
Wpg.Sun,Tom Brodbeck-Grit talks turkey
Van.Sun-endorses PMSH- Stephen Harper is our choice for the rough road ahead..and sums up this way “a majority government for the Conservatives led by Stephen Harper is our choice”
Edmonton Journal-Dion,Layton whip up fear for their own gain
G&M Report on Business section- One can only hope Harper responds like Bennett
CBC tv had Julie Van Badhairdo, out this am whining and covering up for Dion…DION WILL BE LIVE ON CBC LATER THIS HR.He refused to do media interview after his speech in Laval last eve.
October 10th, 2008 at 8:08 am
CBC tv had Julie Van Badhairdo

The transcript from tonight’s emergency meeting of NATO allies.
Prime Minister Brown: Iran is threatening to invade Israel.
President Bush: Should we nuke Iran now?
Prime Minister Dion: I didn’t understand the question, do you mean if I had have been elected two and a half year ago, should we act? Can we start this again?
Brown: Iran may have already invaded.
Bush: Let’s nuke’m now. Agreed?
Dion: Do you mean if I am Prime Minister when they invade or was Prime Minister when they said they are going to invade? I don’t understand. Can we start again?
Brown: OK start again.
Bush: Time’s running out. Gotta decide. Push the button now. Agreed?
Dion: Well I’ve got a plan to develop a plan. I’ll consult with appropriate experts and the provincial premiers. I’ll be ready in 30 days. So tell the Iranians my plan will be the best plan. A plan is a plan and Harper didn’t have one.
… please don’t use this video, I’ll look like a blithering idiot.
October 10th, 2008 at 9:07 am
with regards to MacLeans condemnation of Mike Duffy for airing the “real” Stephane Dion … Mike is a non nonsense but fair and balanced journalist who rightly believed the Canadian public needed to see what they would get with Prime Minister Dion.
MacLeans has shown their true colors as nothing more than a Liberal Rag, and we are NOT renewing our subscription.
Embedded in the Comments following the article, was an urging for everyone to call CTV at (416) 332-5000
and voice their complaint about ‘The Mike Duffy Show’ airing the clip. I for one WILL be calling this number in support of Mike for his responsible journalism … a concept that is totally foreign to the gutless MacLeans staff.
October 10th, 2008 at 9:34 am
Those defending Dion over this and trying blame PMSH are seeing their senate seats evaporate.
October 10th, 2008 at 9:59 am
I think we need to get the video clip of Dion telling us he has a hearing problem-IN A CROWD- not in one on one situations.
