But if he messes up on the world stage, will you still be there to defend him?

Update: Oh, that’s right Macleans . Shoot the messenger. Brilliant. (Definitely cancelling my subscription.)
Nobody says that about Mike Duffy and gets away with it. Macleans is a despicable magazine.
So this is what it’s come down to - In spite of everyone’s best efforts in the Liberal caucus, Stephane Dion continues to cling to his vision of the Green Shift, and its immediate implementation if he becomes PM.
Even Peter Mansbridge tried to pull him from the abyss, but Dion steadfastly clung to his dream.
Which makes me ask, if the whole Liberal appeal is the team, then who’s going to make the decisions?

Note: Ironically, I started writing this post before MDL Prime Time tonight. The Liberals really do have a nightmare on their hands now.
The Nightmare gets worse - Globe endorses Harper and Tories! (H/T Sammy)
Well sort of, anyway. It’s the most back-handed compliment I’ve ever read. But we won’t look a gift-horse in the mouth, right?
So now that’s the Globe, The Post, The Record, The Economist… Who else?
Globe - Dion fumbles CTV interview.
Jonathan Kay - Not Stephane Dion’s finest hour.
Check it out. H/T Sammy.
Prediction: Jack Layton will be moving into Stornoway.
Developing.
Actually, this post says it all.
Update: It’s right at the top of the Blogging Tories site right now!
Stephen Taylor - …Liberal Campaign in Crisis Mode.
Now on National Newswatch and Bourque.
Rather quiet at Liblogs tonight though…
Ontario Finance Minister Dwight Duncan clearly said that it would be "a mistake" to implement a carbon tax in the midst of shaky economic times.
However, Ontario NDP House Leader Peter Kormos wonders if McGuinty is planning to help get out the vote for his federal cousins when the Liberal government decided to give MPPs the day off next Tuesday.
So was it for ease of voting or was it really to help get a carbon tax implemented that would further decimate Ontario manufacturing industries? (Remember now, Dion said nothing would stop him from forcing a carbon tax on Canadians.)
And if no Liberal MPP is actually planning to help on Tuesday, did they never hear of voting ahead?

The Waterloo Region Record, which is a division of Metroland Media Group Ltd. (a subsidiary of the Torstar Corporation of Toronto Star fame ) has officially endorsed Stephen Harper! This is the land of Karen Redman and Andrew Telegdi, folks:
…Throughout most of its history, The Record has endorsed Liberals in federal elections. In fact in the past 40 years, there have been only two other occasions on which we did not. However, the Green Shift is a stumbling block we cannot clear …

Update: Canada rated world’s soundest bank system:survey - Reuters.
Still ready to take that chance on Dion?
Stephen Taylor - The Economist endorses a Harper Majority.
Record endorsement makes National Newswatch! (H/T to Wilson)
Many thanks to Dr. Roy for posting a link to the CBC interview with Stephane Dion.
I have to give credit to Peter Mansbridge for not giving Dion a free pass. He was as hard-hitting with Dion as he was with Harper. I plan to dissect the interview here later today. We started last night on a previous post.
I invite everyone to watch it and leave your comments.
My main question is, will MSM pick up on the obvious problems with Stephane Dion as a PM hopeful, or will they continue savaging Harper for his comment on this being a great buying opportunity in the stock market - which was merely an observation that he mentioned after discussions with many experts?
And to anyone planning to vote Liberal, are you honestly still comfortable with the thought of Stephane Dion as Prime Minister after watching this interview?

Update: Stephen Taylor - Dion will implement a carbon tax even if there’s a recession. (Which you will see confirmed if you watch the interview. It will be in the 2009 budget if Stephan Dion becomes Prime Minister! He is not backing down.)
Jack’s Newswatch has featured this post at Daily Blogger today. Thanks, Jack!
A must-read by Jane Taber - Liberals will go ahead with Green Shift: (I know, I know. You can’t believe it, right?)
…On Wednesday, as Mr. Dion was defending his Green Shift plan to reporters and saying he would not delay it or change it if he became Prime Minister, Mr. Ignatieff was telling a different story to the editorial board of Montreal’s La Presse newspaper …

Dion Unplugged: - Question: Would you slow down on the implementation of Green Shift until we have a stronger economy? (about 1/2 way through this clip)
Mansbridge tries very hard to coach Dion with the correct response, but all in vain. Dion is stubborn. Mansbridge sounds like a game show host - Are you sure this is your final answer?
Dion says all the experts tell him this needs to be done right away - Budget 2009. He gives Sweden as an example of how well it works. Anyone have stats on that?
