Think hard, Canada!

H/T Rootleweb and a loyal reader.

Beware : This afternoon, Roger Smith told Dan Matheson on CTV Newsnet that Stephane Dion already has his transition team in place for the change of government!

Update : Political leadership in uncertain global economic times - Michael Bliss (Hill Times) :

Historian Michael Bliss says there has been no other time in Canadian history that political leaders have seen such a serious economic crisis break in the midst of a federal election campaign, but he believes Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s "less activist approach" is the winning leadership message in these economically uncertain times…

This article also by Michael Bliss is also well worth reading - Financial meltdown is all in the attitude (Post):

…It’s too simple to blame the global credit crisis and its consequences on covens of greedy bankers, incompetent regulators or do-nothing politicians. The fundamental cause of the enormous debt bubble of our times is firmly rooted in the way post-industrial societies evolved in the last half of the 20th Century. After the Second World War, values based on thrift and savings were gradually replaced by a culture of having it all. Now that culture is in danger of cracking up…

  1. Heh-heh.

Mark Holland just knocked on my door.

I’m willing to bet every penny I have he won’t make that mistake again.

  2. I wish I could have been there, Paul!

Harper’s on CTV newsnet right now.

  3. I can’t imagine how difficult it would be for Harper to be managing this economic situation and campaigning at the same time.

  4. I found a new way to shut a Liberal up.

Holland tried the fear-mongering about how dire our economy was. I pointed out that Dion and the Liberal’s are encouraging Canadian’s to add $10,000 in addittional debt with their green mortage.

Let me see if I remember his reply.

Uh, uh, uh. Harpers evil. Or something along those lines.

  5. According to Steve Paikin (link to this at Stephen taylor) there were over 1000 people showed up for PMSH at his speech in TO yesterday, and today for Dion, only 300 or so.

  6. Harper just now - He says ‘Tell me how initiating a carbon tax shows sensitivity and understanding and caring’ (as Dion accuses him of not having) or something to that effect.

    Bingo!

If anyone gets a clip or link to this, please let me know.

Yup put 10,000 more “green” dollars on your mortgage, this is coming from Dion who does not pay his bills on time, and thinks it is a “good idea” to stack on a green tax on everything, whilst treating your “home equity” as an A T M. If you want to know where this is going just look at England where there electrical bills are now 400% higher than neighboring France because their power plants are “dirty” and taxed accordingly. Or look at America where anybody with a pulse got a mortgage, we have a very different system here, much more, prudent, and that is a Canadian value. You want to freeze in the dark, just elect Dion, or Jack both don’t seem to have the smallest idea how the real world actually works. We are better off by a long shot with Harper.
    Cheers Bubba

  8. Oh God, the guy on tv says Dion’s english is “fabulous”.

Roger Smith just stated Dion gave the best speech ever.

Stand back, I feel something coming up.

This day just got even better folks. Kinsella’s panned Dion’s speech he gave to the Empire Club just a short while ago.

I agree with Kinsella’s summary - Dion basically stroked Paul Martin’s ego and erred in calling him the best PM ever. - Excuse me while I barf.

Anyway Kinsella’s blog is worth a read.

Dion also said in his speech that low corporate taxes was NOT a conservative plan, that it was a Liberal plan, then proceeded to trash Jim Flaherty for his comments(conveniently taken out of context) of not investing in Ontario, WHICH, taken in context was all about the outlandishly high corporate taxes.
Can’t have it both ways Steffy!!! All that means is that Harper and Flaherty spoke the truth.

I also love how Dion is claiming to love Canada more.

As I said over at Kinsella’s it seems that Liberals in the centre of the universe love to elect actors who flattery them for their vote then break their promises or excuse themselves when they explain to the province that it turns out the promises are too expensive at such a challenging time.

Roger Smith is wrong. What Dion did was act his way into the folks in the room who fall for that pap.

  10. Did anyone else pick up that Dion stated in the speech at the Canadian Club that the Liberal party of Canada with the support of Ontario, Quebec and Regina Saskatchewan can win this election. I quess he has written off the rest of Canada. How does Danny Williams feel about this?

  11. Powell Lucas Says:

Dion has written off the rest of Canada, because in the Liberal view there is only Ontario, Quebec, and the big cities. As far as they are concerned, it is the duty of the great unwashed to pay to support the desires of these entities since, as every right thinking person knows, it is from these places that all wisdom flows.
If Dion loves Canada now, just think, he will be able to give all that love to a smaller Canada once he makes his grab for Alberta’s resource revenue.

  12. Fay,I was just going to post the same thing!NOTHING about Alta,BC,Manitoba,or the Maritimes. That’s the Lib way..it’s just about Ont,and Que.
BTW,cbc just announced they are cancelling the half-hr.business program on newsworld tonite,to enable Dion to ‘talk to Canadians, and take questions’ WTF?????

  13. This site has been updated if anyone wants to take a look. Too close to call seats still above 40. Look at the projected seat totals with the close ridings not figured in.

  14. Just listening to Adler On Line (CJOB0 and he’s interviewing Michael Bliss (fr.Nat.Post) They are discussing Don Martin’s column..and the media uproar over PMSH not being ‘warm and cuddly’ enough.Bliss states this is indeed a sad commentary on the state of our country if it comes down to such a crucial vote, and this is all people are voting on! Bliss also said that reading Martin’s column made him ‘feel like vomiting’
The previous bit on Adler was a really good reason for the sheeple to wake up!He interviewed the Dad of the little girl that was snatched by the ‘caught and released’ pedophile. This Dad was appalled at a system that would let this animal out on the street to re-offend.Adler talked about the tough on crime stance of ‘one party’ and how it always creates an uproar with the loony-left.I just hope people were hearing this Dad’s pain, and vote wisely to STOP this insanity.

  15. Oops..that’s CJOB..you can access it on-line and there is an ‘audio vault.

  16. OK…Ive been busy with a flooded basement…sort of a blessing…it sure got my mind off the election!!

It sounds like PMSH is getting more mainstream time…

    Roger Smith!…bahaaaa

Now back to my other mess….

  17. Our Toronto based CTV and CBC never picked up on this because they forget that there are other provences in Canada. The MSM and the Liberal Party are only about cental Canada. I had to laugh about the reference to Regina and if this doesn’t give the constituents of Ralph Goodale to give him the boot then I don’t know what would.

  18. Oops..that’s CJOB..you can access it on-line and there is an ‘audio vault.

Thanks, Sammy. I may try to find that interview with Bliss. I felt like vomiting too when I read Don Martin’s column. It was awful!

Bluetech - Yikes! Sorry about your basement!! Are you guys getting a lot of rain up there?

  19. Fay, I am sickened by MSM. Absolutely sickened.

  20. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20081008/election2008_dion_leadership_081008/20081008?s_name=election2008

‘On Wednesday, Dion told reporters that he expects to become prime minister and has a transition team in place for a change in government. ‘

I guess the lies, smears and MSM complicity have given Mr. Dion a bit of an ego.

  21. “to enable Dion to ‘talk to Canadians, and take questions”

Take questions from who? If it’s from the press it’s a useless exercise, we’ll learn absolutely nothing, expecially if it’s CBC staff.

  22. So, I went to the prediction link paulstuff posted , thx paul.

    Think about this,
there are 92 seats in BC+Ab+Sask+Man

If Dion wins : all 4 provinces, 92 ridings
will be represented by 10 Liberals at the most, with 5 of those in the too close to call range
    Liberal:
    BC 3 (+3 maybe)
    AB 0
    Sask 1
    Man 1 (+2 maybe)

    Dippers 12 ridings (+ 2 maybe)

In the west, all 4 provinces combined,
Dion’s Liberals represent 11% of the ridings at best
Dion’s Liberals represent 5% of the ridings at worst

If Dion told reporters that he expects to be prime minister and has a team in place it just proves he can’t cover up the entitlement. Same old arrogant Liberals we kicked out last time.

All the acting in the world can’t help Dion cover his true hidden agenda as Bob Rae’s waterboy.

  24. BSB - Thanks for the reminder. I just added Liberal Entitlement to the tags.

Roger Smith just said it again! The transition team is in place and he is talking about his wife as First Lady or something!!!

Tune in MDL. I hope they put this one online.

  25. Last election, when it come out that PMSH had a transition team in place the media blasted him for his over confidence. When did canada get a first lady, and they say Harper is too close to Bush.

  26. It is a dreadful thought…PM Dion!?!?.. but it almost makes me giddy to think…who would be more shocked and dissappointed…us, The Blue Sweater Brigade :)
    or Iggy and Rae?and Martin…bwahahaa

It was a hot water tank leak …
