Danny’s vindictiveness has its limits

As much as Danny Williams seems to hate Stephen Harper, he obviously can’t stomach including the Green Party in his vicious ABC (Anyone But Conservative) campaign - Williams won’t Support Green Party (Chronicle Herald - H/T National Newswatch)

Here we see a situation of cognitive dissonance where practicality wins over revenge. The mental contortions that old Danny went through trying to reach this decision must have been painful.

Elizabeth May seems to think that she and Williams can reach some kind of compromise, but judging from this official party release on the issue, I don’t see much wiggle-room.

Hopefully voters in Newfoundland and Labrador will be able to sort this one out on their own.

Related: From a few weeks ago - Premier Williams only has one vote, Harper says.

Update : Tonight on MDL, Mike Duffy made a special announcement (following the clip on Briony Penn), that Robert Fife’s previous report that Danny Williams had been strong-arming people to not vote Conservative was unsubstantiated.

Strange that Robert Fife would go out on a limb like that. In any case, Duff apologized to Danny Williams…

Duff’s exact words were:

"…some Conservative party workers there told CTV news that they were being intimidated and threatened by people representing Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams. Some of the allegations were made by very senior Tories in Newfoundland, including Loyola Hearne, David Wells, and former Provincial Fisheries Minister Jim Morgen. CTV News identified these sources and then later interviewed them on the air. Premier Williams denies that he or any of his camp is involved in ‘dirty tricks’. CTV News went back, investigated the allegation and we actually found no one who had actual first hand evidence who would come forward and appear on camera.

As a result of that, we want to fully apologize to Premier Danny Williams for what we reported that weekend."

Briony Penn (Liberal Party of Canada)-nude on a horse (lady Godiva style - pictures available!!)
Julian West (New Democratic Party) nude in front of teens (what can I say!!)

WCT Reports that the riding of Saanich Gulf Islands has gone to pot … oops that’s the NDP

What is it about BC politics - almost ready to say “give me Danny Millions!!!”

  2. Looks like the naked ‘dipper’ in BC is much bigger story than previously documented, and I find it very disturbing..as should any parent.Link to story from CTV/BC.According to a woman that was there:”we were doing face-painting and he decided he wanted to get his legs painted, and some girls were painting his legs.He took off his underwear and he had a partial erection and said, why stop there girls?”
This to me is far more disturbing than some stupid blog-posts and this man should be GONE.

  3. BTW,cpac has Talk radio on from Bill Good in BC..wonder if this will be discussed?

  4. Wow! What’s going on out there in B.C.???

  5. What is it about BC politics? Well, as Allan Fotheringham once noted “In the Maritimes, politics is a disease, in Quebec a religion, in Ontario a business, on the Prairies a protest and in British Columbia entertainment.”

As a born and bred British Columbian growing up through the Bennett, Barrett and Van derZalm (the guy that lived in a freaking windmill and who’s wife always wore a sports headband - even to state events!!) years.. I can attest to it. It’s the salt air that does something to the brain.

Maybe that’s Danny’s problem too, come to think.

  6. PMSH doing another speech in Sask.on ‘conditional sentancing’ I see on call-in from BC on cpac,OVERWHELMING favor for PMSH tough on crime stance so far.BC is especially riddled with gangs/drugs,so this will get some pretty good support I’m thinking.
Jo,just Google Darryl Plecas, and he’s not too popular with the ‘weed’ culture in BC,so that’s one thing in his favor for the law&order types!
BTW,not sure if I posted about this yesterday, but when watching ctv yesterday, they did interview with Amanda Lang (a Business commentator)..and this has gone somewhat un-noticed.She stated, she has concerns about the 400 Mil. in the Lib plan,to modernize immigration She stated:”this sounds to me like another gun registry!” That is indeed scary,as we all know how that went.

  7. Sammy, thanks for keeping us up to date here. I have some outdoor painting to do so please continue to keep us all posted on any breaking news and I’ll check it out later. Thanks.

Candidate resigns http://www.cbc.ca/news/canadavotes/story/2008/09/23/bc-julian-west-resigns.html . I’m sure that this will cause the Libs to pick up the NDP votes in Saanich and thus make it a “horse race”. The Greens may hold or split the vote.

  9. The Naked Dipper is GONE!!! he’s been cut loose, and too late for NDP to replace candidate.

  10. Heh.

trust the painting is going well - would you check your junk mail for one of my posts!!

  12. Just came in for a break. I’ve got more paint on me than the shed door does, that’s for sure.

Thanks for the updates, guys! Teddi, I released your comment from spam-jail. ;)

  13. The Toronto Star and selective editing.

I copied and pasted Nanos results in comments showing Conservative numbers were back up and Liberal’s down. Here is what I posted:

    Committed Voters - Canada (N=996, MoE ± 3.1%, 19 times out of 20)

    Conservative Party 38 (+3)
    Liberal Party 27 (-3)
    NDP 21 (-1)
    BQ 8% (+1)
    Green Party 6% (NC)
    Undecided 17% (-1)

I was shocked the Star finally let one of my posts through. Apparently, someone at the Star has an aversion to plus signs. This is my edited post:

    Committed Voters - Canada (N=996, MoE ? 3.1%, 19 times out of 20) Conservative Party 38 ( 3) Liberal Party 27 (-3) NDP 21 (-1) BQ 8% ( 1) Green Party 6% (NC) Undecided 17% (-1)

    Spot the difference?

  14. Hi all,

OT but have you seen this:

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20080923.COWENT23/TPStory/National/columnists

From the G&M no less! Ouch. A journalist is finally admitting the biased coverage of the MSM.

  15. Ah c’mon that Briony Penn thing is years old …. what a snore!

Back to CTV … we will be seeing apologies from Duffy and the gang for the numerous false and conflated reports about conservatives ..!?

    When?

Seriously? Duffy apologized to Danny the Derringer??

To paraphrase R. Perrot “What’s that giant sucking sound you hear?”

  16. Look at it this way: a “drive by smear” by the MSM like they used to do to the Cons. Oops, sorry didn’t mean it and then appologize. Damage done.

Otherwise think of a very small society where if you stand out everybody knows. If, and I say this tonge in cheek, Danny and his “boys” practice small town politics where they live that will impact your standing in the community or your business, one needs to be circumspectful.

Nothing like a big city MSM type to fly into your small society and stir things up for some people who just maybe don’t need your pot stirring, because when the damage is done MSM type doesn’t have to live there, while the ones to whom the damage was done, do.

What were Fife’s motives in reporting on this “story”, skewer Danny or make life miserable for the Anti-Danny crowd?
