It’s a ‘new low’, alright!

Using the deaths of Canadians for political purposes.

It is beyond bad taste. It is absolutely appalling.

I wonder how the families feel?

Update : It gets worse. (H/T Canada.com)

Also please check out ASTTR - ‘I’m Bob Rae, and Stephane Dion approved this message.’

Warren Kinsella obviously condones the new Liberal ad.

Star Phoenix - …Lighten up:

…Remember, his jokes weren’t meant to be heard outside the office. He was conferring privately with his professional colleagues. The indiscretion, if there was one, was that of the disloyal bureaucrat who anonymously leaked his remarks, thus introducing them into a venue for which they were never intended. We can only guess at the motives of an anonymous tattletale, but rarely are they entirely virtuous

And I wonder what Marc Mayrand would say about the actions of this Liberal MP?

Many thanks to Sammy in comments for this tip - A bit of private black humour has the sanctimonious seeing red: Christie Blatchford.

Plattytalk: Simply put, the man is a liar.

Monday Update: Charles Adler nails it:

…The real question to the voter is, "Who is really guilty here of shamelessly exploiting a Human tragedy?" The Conservative Government of the day or their desperate, hateful, and shameless opponents who will say anything to scare Canadians into voting for them?

Important note to U.S. readers!

Heather Mallick and the CBC do not speak for me.

Being taxed to support the CBC is outrageous!

Is there a politician out there with enough courage to take on this issue?

Update: This post is getting a lot of hits from American readers. I would really be interested in hearing your thoughts. Please join the discussion in Comments. Thanks.

CNEWS - Canadian columnist’s diatribe against Palin stokes anger in the U.S.::

"Those morons up north just can’t keep their ignorant mouths shut when it’s really none of their socialist business … the People’s Republic of Canada is no friend of the USA!"

Gee thanks, Heather.  So happy that you painted Canadians in this light - with OUR MONEY!

The CBC said Saturday it had no plans to remove Mallick’s article from its website despite the criticism.

"She’s an opinion columnist, she expresses her opinion. Her opinions don’t represent the views of CBC in general or CBC News in particular," said spokesman Jeff Keay.

Funny thing though Jeff. Americans don’t see it that way.

Somebody needs to send this one into TVO’s Steve Paikin for the leadership debates. Are we all o.k. with this?

David Warren - Heather’s Malice.

Is CBC a nest of left-wing vipers?

Comments in response to a related Globe article are worth checking out.

The real hidden agenda

Is this the Liberals’ Hail Mary Pass? i.e.  Hide the Green Shift (and Dion), and push the Dream Team out in front?

Blogging Tories and many MSM reporters and pundits are noticing that Stephane Dion doesn’t seem to be promoting his Green Shaft plan very much anymore, and indeed seems to be overshadowed by the Big Guns who are busy with other talking points.

Warren Kinsella has filed the obviously desperate ‘Green Shift’ strategy change under the "Loser" category:

…As any regular reader knows, I was one of the few Liberals to object to the timing of the policy, and using my real name, too. So forgive me for being a stickler about timing, again, but – if you are going to discard a major, major policy – do it before the campaign starts. Not during it. John Tory tried that in the Ontario election with the funding of private religious schools, and the whiplash-inducing volte face  probably cost him more seats than he would have otherwise lost

O.K.  I can agree with Warren to a point. But as I recall, John Tory merely changed his mind about allowing a free vote regarding the Faith-Based funding issue, which I myself urged him to do. But perhaps it was too late. I don’t remember Tory ever giving up the whole idea during the election, but he certainly did afterwords.

Tory’s original incentive was to right the wrong of having one faith receiving funding and no others - an unfair situation which the United Nations suggested should be rectified, and which still exists to this day.

But the fact is that voters will now always have a niggling concern about a ‘hidden agenda’ associated with both Tory and Dion, even though the leaders may try to bury their respective albatrosses.

This is why many Ontario conservatives feel that John Tory should do what’s right for the party and graciously resign.

And it is also why the Green Shift can’t be stuffed back into the closet.
