Heads-up
FYI, 570’s Jeff Allan will be discussing the upcoming election at 10 a.m. He also just announced by way of promo that he will be interviewing CTV’s Mike Duffy.
You can listen online here. (Link top right)
I hope to be addressing this topic later this morning. Comments welcome anytime.

BTW, this is a heads-up to the Duffinator himself. Looks like you’re losing some of your Liberal fans. ‘Impolitical’ is questioning your objectivity here and Liblogger Red Tory has these kind words:
…No, instead, we got Mike Duffy, CTV’s morbidly obese cut-up, back from two months of basting his corpulent pile of flab in the sun, pronouncing that Dion, just as the Tories expected, had stupidly fallen into their oh-so-clever trap and that now Harper “will be able to say on the campaign trail that he tried to work with the opposition…”
Makes Garth’s weaselette comment seem rather tame by comparison.

10:30 am update: Well, not a whole lot new from that segment, except to remind you that MDL returns to CTV newsnet tonight at 5 pm. However, Duff and many other pundits have pointed to the recent Strategic Counsel poll results as being significant - especially on the question of whether or not the government is going in the right direction:
…In addition, the latest poll suggests 49 per cent of Canadians feel Canada is on the right track, while only 34 per cent feel the country is on the wrong track…
It has been emphasized that this is in sharp contrast to the mood in the U.S. that seems more intent on change.
More bad news for Stephane Dion.

Today’s Star poll: Who do you think is the most likeable federal party leader?
This one should be interesting to watch.

Duffy was/is absolutly correct in his assesment of the Liberal position…
To people like Red Tory…you can’t handle the truth!
Here’s the message from all Canadians to all politicians…
..NO new TAXES.. save the world with the TAXES we ALREADY pay, if you can’t do that, then your’re FIRED and we will hire someone who can.
September 2nd, 2008 at 10:20 am
Red Tory needed to be called up on that.
Attack Blogging Tories if you like, but not Duff. That’s like attacking Santa Claus.
September 2nd, 2008 at 10:31 am
Good news could be that on Oct 15 the Garth will be unemployed.

LOL, Just another little boy, showing us all that he isn’t quite smart enough to come up with anything but insults to try and get his point across.
By the way, didn’t this guy quit blogging last year?
Or was that just his way following in Dions footsteps?
You know, say one thing and do another…..

I see on the Garth’s blog, that his new ‘weaselette’ target is Lizzie May! Hmmm, that Lib/green alliance not working out too well for ya Garth? It was YOUR esteemed “??leader” that chose to let Liz run unopposed in NS,so wear it Garthy!

Just caught a ‘barn-burner’ of a press-conf.with Jason Kenney on ctv..his response to the Lib.caucus mtg.going on in Wpg.He had a list of questions for Dion to answer for Canadians…Dion to respond at10:30.It was a thing of beauty to watch, and Jason managed to hit (by name),Libs Wayne easter,Scott Brison,Hedy Fry,and our perenniel fav.Garth Turner!
During the Q&A after his speech…and it WAS a dandy,Jason states that Dion wants an election…at least on alternating days! Jason looks ready to rumble, confident and rarin to go! I love it!!!

Thanks for the tip, Sammy. I’m just watching Dion on CTV now. He’s introducing a ’star’ candidate.
September 2nd, 2008 at 11:45 am
Jo,did you notice that Dion looked ready to cry?Honest to God..if there ever was a weak looking leader, that performance today was a classic.I can’t believe that by looks of this Press Conf.the Libs are going to make Law and Order a platform!

I will never understand the need to insult someone’s physical appearance (usually directed at women) simply because you disagee with them. To me, when someone does that, I unfortunately automatically tune out and disregard their opinion. Attack the idea, not the person. I’m sad to see the demise of civil debate and sharing of ideas.
September 2nd, 2008 at 11:57 am
Jo,did you notice that Dion looked ready to cry?
Not sure if those are tears, or beads of perspiration, Sammy. I think the makeup person should have used more powder.
September 2nd, 2008 at 11:59 am
Sheesh… Dion just said Harper is more pro-Bush than McCain. That’s his idea of a nice, clean campaign? I’d hate to see ‘ugly.’
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:00 pm
Dion almost called Harper a ‘law-breaker’. Then he caught himself and said something like well, maybe not a law-breaker but a promise-breaker.
Memories of lawsuits, Stephane?
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:01 pm
So who is th supposed srar candidate?
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:03 pm
Star candidate is retired RCMP Cal Johnson.
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:05 pm
I don’t think I can take a month and a half of listening to Dion.
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:07 pm
Gary Doyle is interviewing Peter Donolo of SC right now. (570)
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:08 pm
This Cal Johnson?
“G. REGINA POLICE CHIEF, CAL JOHNSON: What was once a solid blue line of police support for the federal gun registry is developing cracks. The latest comes from Regina’s police chief. Cal Johnston says he supports the concept of a national firearms licensing and registration scheme. However, he is not impressed with Ottawa’s efforts so far. “I do not think we — ‘we’ being government — have done a good job of implementing the whole program.” With the registry costs hovering around one billion dollars — and counting – Johnston wonders if the system will ever produce the desired results.

Paul! I wonder if it is the same guy? Hang onto that link!!!
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Yup..that would be the same guy.Dion read big article from Regina Leader Post praising Johnson, and it did mention he was ex-RCMP Chief.

Duffy was right on the money about Dion walking right into a Harper trap. Libbloggers just are to dumb to see this(and frankly this is a god thing) People like redtory have nothing to talk about it’s not like they have leader to cheer on.
I have to say watching the liblogs right now is amusing. They don’t no if they are coming or going. Very amature hour liblogs, is imho.

Red Tory:“…Mike Duffy, CTV’s morbidly obese cut-up, back from two months of basting his corpulent pile of flab in the sun…”
Don’t you just love those sensitive, caring socialists - you know, the ones who who never tire of accusing Stephen Harper of being “mean spirited”?
September 2nd, 2008 at 2:15 pm
This is for those LIEberals out there who say that Duffy is only for the Conservatives.
When Jean Cretchen was speaking to a group of influncial people in Calgary Duffy actually got angry at them for NOT standing and applauding PM JC after his speech. The thought that PM JC should be shown this respect is beyaund me.
Duffy is equal to all parties. When the Conservatives blow it - like the Income Trust [which they deserve to lose votes over] - he was the first to criticize Harper on this. When the LIEberals under DeYawn disappear for critical votes [at least 40 imes] he calls it as he sees it. DeYawn is not a leader and can not even have the support of the rest of the LIEberals on his new GST(2) plan. {Green “Shift” Tax}
If there was support there would be more LIEberals out there supporting DeYawn other than Garth on the GST(2). Besides ever since eYawn became leader of the Opposition - I love the sound of that - he has continually threatened to have an election. Harper just called ALL the opposition parties bluff - they should be happy - especially DeYawn who has been saying for the last year that the LIEberals are ready for n election - except that they are broke and still owe millions promised to be paid back as a result of Ad Scam and Elections Canada on the Leadership Race - they still owe thousands and just got an extension on that.
At least he is not under the anti-Conservative agenda as the G&M and the CBC - whose funding should stop - CBC’S budget is over a Billion a year I think. If they can’t make it on their own they should be closed.

Looks like you’re losing some of your Liberal fans. ‘Impolitical’ is questioning your objectivity here and Liblogger Red Tory has these kind words
Fat jokes about Mike Duffy? Who saw that coming?
Halfways-intelligent Liberal supporters surely know they’re in deep doo-doo now in any election campaign, if they didn’t realize it before.
They will tend to be a bit bitchy for the foreseeable future.

Attacking someone personally because you disagree with their opinion is disgusting, and shows you have nothing to counter there opinion with. Such is the Leftist mentality.
