Back from the boondocks

Well, I’m slowly trying to get up to speed on recent news events after having been cloistered in my self-imposed exile for several weeks.

The last week was spent in a milieu devoid of any electronic devices or even newspapers, so I feel somewhat like Rip Van Winkle in my effort to catch up.

However, the great advantage of taking several weeks off and getting your mind off of the news is that you actually realize that there is more to life than blogging and politics. It’s a great chance to reconnect with loved ones and nature.

I learned how sand flies lay their eggs, thanks to an observant, young fellow-camper. She had been watching them back into little holes on the beach and was explaining the whole process to us. Imagine all this going on right under our noses (and feet)!

Loons, hawks, eagles, gulls, chipmunks and raccoons were our daily companions.

Our moods shifted according to the wind and the lake and the weather that would dictate our fishing and beach patterns. But even a storm is a soul-stirring experience at a lake.

And so now I am back in the city, but part of me is still there watching the waves crash against the rocks.

Joanne - welcome back!!! I’ve missed you. Hopefully your holiday left you refreshed and rejuvenated and ready to take on the naysayers.

  2. Nice to have you back. I hope you had a good rest.

You’re right, we take for granted what’s going on right under our feet. I think we all need a to take time and observe the beauties of nature that God has provided for us. It truly is something spectacular to take notice of. I think we have some of the most beautiful scenery in the world in this nation.

We really are blessed in this country even with all the turmoil in parliament, etc.

  3. Welcome back, and I agree, you were missed. Take your time to get back up to spped.

    Jo…we missed you baby!

Hope you had a good time with natural surroundings but I’m sure some moments you were itching of what was going on in BT world, especially on rainy days.

Well girl you gonna be busy, looks like you may gear up for election coverage as early as next week.

I truly hope our cherished PM pulls the plug. I don’t care if Dion promises to behave; he’ll only do so until he can match the timing with the US campaign (The Obama thingy) and BEFORE the Liberal leadership convention.

PM Harper knows if he does’nt go now that Obama might (Far from guaranteed though) win, and/or that later Dion might step down/forced down and replaced in Dec/Jan by LPC, that the Afghan mission is currently being blitzed by the taliban and Al quaeda (Moved effort out of Iraq) and concentrating on the Ghan for maximum propaganda during 2 North American elections.

    Welcome back!

  5. Thanks everyone, for the warm welcome back!

Grind a Grit, that’s interesting about Dion wanting to time an election with the US campaign. I just don’t get that. Does he really see himself as another Obama? Talk about delusional!

In any case, things will certainly start heating up shortly.

  6. You didn’t miss much. Dion did another flip flop on having an election. Global warming is still imitating global cooling. McWimpy is still avoiding taking the blame for anything bad happening. The US is still suffering from the mortgage crisis. The MSM is still trumpeting the bad news and burring the good news from Afghanistan. There is some good news on the infectious diseases front. A large number of cases seem to have gone into remission in the Obamamania pandemic.

All the big stories have been waiting until you came back. Speaking of big stories, is the biggest story of your fishing expedition the one that got away, again this year?

Frmgrl, you are so right. Let’s appreciate our beautiful country.

Speaking of big stories, is the biggest story of your fishing expedition the one that got away, again this year?

Swift, thanks for the summary, and yes. The big one got away again! Seriously. I had a huge fish and he spit the hook!! Almost had him up to the surface. Not sure if it was a pickerel or pike. Got a nice perch though but just not the same. *Sigh*
