Brother charged with 1st degree murder
Quick update to the tragic story of Aqsa Parvez if you had been following it.
As you may recall, Aqsa had allegedly been strangled to death by her father for refusing to wear a hijab. Her brother had been originally charged with obstructing justice, but now we learn that Peel police have charged 27-year-old Waqas Parvez with first degree murder.
As Tarek Fatah and Farzana Hassan observed in their Dec. 12/07 Post article, The deadly face of Muslim extremism:
…Radical Muslim men consider themselves ultimately responsible for the conduct of the womenfolk. This outlook is rooted in a medieval ethos that treats women as nonpersons, unable to decide for themselves what they should wear, where they must go and what they must accomplish in life. If their conduct is seen as contravening this austere religious outlook, they are invariably subjected to abuse…
It’s sad that this tolerant society of ours only intervenes after such a tragedy has occurred.

One day in Canada these poor Muslim women will be free to choose!

Tarek has changed his tune ever since the Toronto 17 were rounded-up and this time the Muslims were Canadians of Pakistani background and he couldn’t cry Racial-profiling or Anti-Muslim bias by the RCMP.
I’m fed-up with the whole mess lately where Muslims are refighting past battles right here in canada which are all traced back to Muhammad’s Life and who has the TRUE Quran with the REAL Muhammad.
Sunni/Shi’ite/Whahhbist/Salafi/Arab/African and all the other version that have more Muslims being killed by other Muslims than the bogus “Islamophobia” rants about Oppression in the West and Global crusade by Christian nations at War with Islam …

We recently read of polygamy in Ont being oked by the Ont govt. Wonder what they think of the Iman (or whatever leaders are called) who recently stated that a girl as young as 1 yr old could be legally married, if sex was postponed for at least 9 years. (age the big leader took his child bride to bed.)
Wonder what all the muslims in TO thought of all the pride parades this wkend. Anyone notice if there were any burkas in the crowds.

Sorry Roger, but I had to delete the last portion of your impressive rant. It was quite witty, but I do not wish to be dragged in front of a Human Rights Tribunal. If you are upset by that, please support Liberal MP Keith Martin’s private member’s motion, M-446. Thanks.

Mary, I’m not sure if I’ve read that one about the Imam saying 1 year olds could get married. What a horrifying thought. And sex at 10? Where’s our legal system here?
Ah, a burka at a Dyke parade. What an interesting juxtaposition of cultures that would present. Now, I wonder if we’re allowed to think such a thing?

One of the most distressing aspects of this case is the way the MSM is completely glossing over the honour killing side of the story. I heard it on the CTV national news and it came across as just another nameless, random act of domestic violence. Well, it’s not random, it had a definite cause, namely religious extremism, and the MSM is deliberately hiding that from the public, presumably to protect the ‘Religion of Perpetual Outrage’ from feeling offended.

For someone so concerned about this story you might want to spell the young lady’s name correctly. It’s Aqsa not Asqua. Also, it’s by no means clear that her death was owing to her refusing to wear a Hijab. Lubna Tahir, at whose home Parvez had been living at prior to her death, asserted that the Hijab was not a major factor and that other girls in the family did not wear it.

That’s what happens when I blog past my bedtime. Thanks. Changes made.

Do you have another theory why her father allegedly strangled her?

Joanne, you are one classy lady! You never fail to impress me.

Thanks, Annie. That’s very kind.
I am in fact all ears as to any other theories, but the sad truth is that this culture of silence is causing the abuse and death of innocent Muslim women.
