Passing thought re: Couillard affair(s)

As bad as this looks for the present government, it sure must not be doing Julie Couillard’s reputation any favours! (Coulliard affair trips top Tory aide.)

…Public Works Minister Michael Fortier dismissed senior Quebec adviser Bernard Côté yesterday after it emerged Côté had a romantic relationship with Julie Couillard last year…

Wow! Her list of romantic partners is increasing by the day. Beware of the temptress, boys.

Or as Robin Williams wryly observed, "God gave men a brain and a [reproductive organ ], but only enough blood to run one at a time."

Zip it - at both ends.

Too funny!…Go and check the CTV.ca comments on this and look for “Stephane Dion for PM”…I just wanted to test CTV to see if they would post such a moronic comment that I made up and THEY DID!…Sure to have a lot of counter reaction that might not necessarely be posted though. ;-) Still giggling as I’m typing this.

As far as the subject matter goes, I guess you are right Joanne…The typical male ‘weakness’ is being exposed again and it is somewhat embarrassing for us guys but ms Couillard surely knows (knew) how to use her assets for quick career advancement. From a female’s perspective though, would that be construted as ’shrewd’ or ‘weak’?

Although the threat of national security spin is overblown, she is a dangerous woman to be sure but I think more dangerous it seems, for her many male relationships.

“The black widow”…Ta-dadada-da-da–da” (Alice Cooper, from: ‘Welcome to my Nightmare’)

  2. Unless it can be shown that Ms Couillard engaged in the seduction of government employees for nefarious purposes, her ‘affairs’ are ENTIRELY her affair, and NONE of my business.

PET said that the government has no business in the bedrooms of the nation. This was only camoflage on his part, as he wormed the government into every bedroom in the country, but the words are true nonetheless. The government has NO BUSINESS in the bedrooms of the nation. Show me misdeeds on MS Couillard’s part, or leave her alone. If you fired people for having poor taste in women Peter MacKay would be looking for work.

I have a few passing thoughts on this too.
    • Bloc MP Serge Ménard as the G&M pointed out “…is one of the top experts in the House of Commons on security issues, having served as Quebec’s minister of public safety at the height of the province’s biker wars in the mid-1990s and early 2000s.”
    http://tinyurl.com/5ukskd
So, who was best placed to know about Ms. Couillard’s associations? Serge Ménard and other Bloc MPs, who must have followed the biker wars and ensuing trials in Quebec.
When they saw pictures of Ms. Couillard on Mr. Bernier’s arm at his swearing-in ceremony, why didn’t they express their concerns to anyone? Why did they wait until a few weeks ago?

    • It has been reported that former CSIS agent Michel Juneau-Katsuya stated that the “bug” in Ms. Couillard’s bed could have been planted by the government, yet in an interview with Joe Cannon on Montreal 940 (either May 27 or 28) he dismissed that possibility as laughable, because it would have been a very unprofessional job, i.e. not the best place to plant a bug because of the extraneous noise (he even alluded to the kind of activity that would be taking place there).
So how credible is his testimony now?

Full disclosure: I did not watch Mr. Katsuya’s testimony on CPAC yesterday because I grew impatient listening to his poor reading of his statement, switching back and forth between English and French. I prefer to listen to speakers in the original rather than in translation. So, my criticism of him is indirect. If he DID actually state yesterday that the government COULD have ordered the “bug” then he contradicted himself.

    • The men in Ms. Couillard’s life definitely should have “zipped it” as you said, but as in the Monica Lewinsky case, there were and are TWO people involved in such matters, the man and the woman. The men should definitely have kept it zipped, but the woman should have kept her legs together more often.

    • When this story first came out, I thought it was a strictly private matter that should not be pursued. I didn’t know anything about Ms. Couillard other than that she was generously endowed, which explained the MSM fascination with her.
But now that all this extra information has come out, in retrospect, the government made a mistake in dismissing it, and to this day continuing to refer to it as a private matter.
As far back as May 9 or 10, the government could have replied to questions during QP with a simple “we’ll look into it” and that would have been it. Instead, they have continued to say it was strictly a private matter until Mr. Bernier’s resignation. This matter can definitely hurt the government.

  4. Is anyone tired of seeing Ms. Couillard’s boobs yet? I mean good Lord, these orbs have been splashed all over the print and video press forever it seems. (I’ll bet this story doen’t get much airplay on radio mainly because of the lack of visuals!)

From looking at her I can see how some men would fall for her. Boobs aside, (I’m a caboose man myself) she is very attractive. Maxime, et all were obviously thinking with the wrong head when being swept away by this ‘TITilating’ temptress. (Sorry, couldn’t help it!)

Yet I still can’t help but wonder if the opposition is behind this. One only need recall how Schriber was wined and dined (and quite possibly coached) by the opposition committee members (and chairperson) prior to the Kangaroo court of the Airbus ’scandal’.

But hey, anything the opposition and thier MSM buddies can do to show the Conservatives in negative light…..

Makes one wonder who the real boobs are with this latest scandal du jour.

  5. So if the files has such sensative info, why are the opposition so hell bent to make it public via the inquiry. I’m more concerned with what danger to our national security is being done by liberals marching and supporting terrorist groups and voting against their own terrorist bills. Are these groups and people helping dion with his leadership debt, what has he or other liberals promised them, if they ever get elected to power.
Three cheers for PMSH making this apology, and for not giving a copy of said apology to media or the opposition to be slagged in this mornings headlines.

  6. Mary T, Gouillard might surprise many that she had a fling with one of the liberals.

Mary T. the liberals and ndp supporting terrorist groups is acceptable by the MSM.
    CBC is nothing but a garbage disposal;

  7. Maybe very petty on my part…but I followed the link and it seems to me that picture is ‘different’ than the originals…does anyone have the tech savvy to find an original and compare her ‘exposed area’ in each picture?I could be wrong…

McKay and Brenier are just 2 of the many public figures who are experiencing the consequences of their behaviour. If they were married and faithful this wouldn’t be happenning.Shame on them.

  8. BTW…shame on the women too.

  9. Two Things:

    1. I am not yet tired of Mme. Couillard’s boobs.

    2. I hope her next attempt to infiltrate the government is via influential bloggers. Please do not share this audacious hope with my wife.

  10. I have read a couple of reports this whole thing is a set up, going back a while. No one has ever reported getting the files back, no one has ever reported they saw said files at her home. Why didn’t those that knew her past report said concerns to Max or the PM. What were they planning to do with the info.
When we sent the results of the last election to the proper place, the envelopes had to be sealed and signed across the back, in such a way that if opened they could not be resealed without disturbing our signatures. Seals are used on many govt papers, again to stop tampering. I want to see the so called files, in their envelopes with seals etc broken.
I really think this will come back to land at the feet of the Bloc and liberals. Someone somewhere has a picture of her with some lib or Bloc, at some party or gathering. Some hairdresser or waitress is just waiting for their 15 minutes of fame.
I wish the dame would show up at the hearing in a burqua, to stop all the drooling.

  11. Please do not share this audacious hope with my wife….

It will be our little secret, Chucker.

I wonder though, if Dion might be much more clever than we give him credit for? Could this be what Goodale means by “strategic waiting”???

“Wearing down the Conservative resolve, one jockstrap at a time”.

  12. Strategic awaiting is exactly the ticket for the Liberals. Harper is inexpereineced in the private sector and in government. Most of his ministers lack private sector experience and are light weights. It is only a matter of time for th epoor judgment of the HArper’s cabinet to come out (that is why Harper ilences them and runs everything from the PMO) Now, the fruits of bad judgment and desperation are showing in all these scandals that are dogging the CONservatives.

    The peopleknow it too.

So long Steve. Your negative ads won’t save you.

  13. I think it’s time for the CPC to offer the Liberal opposition 2 options. #1. Call a full criminal inquiry into HRDC, Shawinigate and the Sponsorship scandals or #2. Harper pays a visit to Rideau Hall to disolve parliament. I wonder which one they’d go for.

Personally, if I were harper, I’d do both.

  14. If you want to read the most hillarious spin on this go check Jason Cherniak’s latest piece of work…..The brainiak has really been working overtime to figure this one out……For one who professes to be a lawyer…Hmmm

  15. Squiggy, thanks for the tip. I just checked it out. Link here.

What I find really objectionable is his remarks about John Baird. I know exactly what he’s insinuating, and it ain’t pretty.

Just when you think Jason couldn’t sink any lower…

  16. what’s a cherniak and why should we care?

if his posts are any indication the youngster doesn’t sound very bright…sad….poor fellow, being a Liberal AND Dion supporter and all.

The cliff isn’t far ahead is it?

    Re: Bernier breaks silence …
For those who understand French, here’s the radio interview he gave to a radio station in the Beauce region of Quebec, where he is from. http://www.cyberpresse.ca/article/20080611/CPFRONTPAGE/80611211/5050/CPPRESSE

One of the things I found interesting was Mr. Bernier’s explanation for bringing some Jos Louis cakes (like Mae West cakes), which are produced in the Beauce.

Mr. Bernier was mercilessly mocked by the media for bringing those cakes on one of his trips to Kandahar, but he explained it this way.

When preparing for a trip to Kandahar over the Thanksgiving weekend, some soldiers from the Beauce emailed him, telling him they would be away from the base on operations, so they would miss the Thanksgiving meal. Could he therefore bring something for them?

Mr. Bernier thought it would be a good idea to bring them something made in the Beauce, the Jos louis cakes, especially since back in the 1920’s it was thanks to a contract from the Canadian Forces that had enabled the Viau company, maker of the cakes, to remain open, and that the founder of the company had been made an honorary colonel.

A good news story, though a naively simple one, was turned into an item of derision by the MSM.

  18. grind a grit…that was hillarious! If you hadn’t clarified your creativity I would be very worried about someone actually thinking that way…love the subtle Cuba connection!
I’ll never take those comments seriously again!
