How not to win friends and influence people

Garth Turner is starting to sound a tad ticked off.

But an MP calling a female reporter a ‘weaselette’ ?

…I watched on television as weaselette Jane Taber told a breathless Mike Duffy all about the actual slides I used in my PowerPoint presentation to national caucus on May 14th, the reaction of female colleagues to my “tasteless” display and the whupping I took from Dion himself…

Bad form, Garth.

To be honest, Jane Taber is not one of my favourite reporters/television hosts, but Garth Turner is a Liberal Member of Parliament, and as such he represents the Liberal party. To call Jane a "weaselette" is quite distasteful. Well, even if he had called Craig Oliver a weasel, I’d be offended. Name-calling should be regulated to kindergarten and the House of Commons. Actually, that might be offensive to five-year-olds, so I take that back.

I think Garth owes Jane an apology. Can you imagine the ruckus that would occur if a Conservative MP had said such a thing? It’s beyond me why most of the MSM still seem to support the Liberals.

Oh well, maybe I’m over-reacting. At least he didn’t call her a political whore .

Update : More at Catnip in the Mash . (That is such a cool name!)

And Steve Janke had a post on this a few days ago - Jane Taber’s weasel report on Garth Turner .

  1. You’re right. He should have used the gender-neutral ‘weasel’.

I usually call Taber a Valley Girl but not in public :>)

  2. Caveat, I don’t think this is going to endear him to her next time he’s on the show.

  3. Maybe there won’t be a next time.
Msm loved his over the top rants about PMSH, but maybe not so much when The Garth uses his venom on them.

Sooooo glad the jerk was booted from the CPC.

  4. That’s the best Garth has?? Schoolyard insults? He truly is lost in the political wilderness.

Good job insulting Taber there Garth, she may be a gigglebot, but, most elected members know, you don’t sour the pundits pablum, they’ll just spit it back up on you….

  5. Coming from the BIG weasel I’m not surprised. Takes one to know one…

As for “political whore”, well ’nuff said there.

  6. Floor crossers are dubious at best. They put their own good ahead of the party. Taber and Oliver of CTV still have not figured out that the Liberals are NOT the national ruling party and that the MSM does not have an inside track with the government.

I don’t feel sorry for giggles Taber one Iota…She let Suzuki slip pass with absolutely NO questions let alone tough ones this past Sunday on Question Period…She knew Suzuki, like Gore does not appreciate ANY questions or oppinions contrary to the church of AGW…other that does not demonstrate my appreciation for that weasel Garth Turner for whom I’m so proud Harper kicked out of the CPC.

Bottom line: It was juvenile and improper for Turner to name call but Taber deserved it because her and Oliver are such a Liberal advertissement with their mediocre Question Period which don’t even come close to the semi balanced Mike Duffy.

It must suck to be a Halton resident and have that crazy person as your MP.

Dude has lost his mind. You see the same 4 or 5 far left loons that post his blog? Garth’s blog is crazyville in my book.

  9. Everyone who said that Turner would be a liability for the Liberals was absolutley bang on. The Tories were wise to kick his big mouthy ego out of their party.

  10. Whether you feel that Jane Taber deserved it or not, there is no political gain for a politician to call a journalist a name. None at all.

  11. I think Joanne made the most important point: imagine the sanctimonious uproar if a Conservative MP had said that about Giggles! There would be calls for resignations, etc.

  12. The Libs are crumbling before our eyes…check out the war of words going on between Warren and Cherniak right now.Ooooh, this is getting good!

  13. Garth speculated about the ramifications of his rants on his blog:

“Well, this is far too deep for me, of course. And I guess I’ll find out next Wednesday morning what my fate is. Doubtlessly, Weasel Woman will let you know first. Subscribe to her news service, sponsored by Flomax, “The Leaking Caucus,” at jtaber@globeandmail.ca.”

Garth is an embarrassment to himself and to his latest political party. He needs professional help and probably a career change.

  14. Career change for Garth? What else could he possibly do?

Well maybe a job as an on air host at CBC!!

    Offended? Crocodile tears I think.

Buffoon Turner directed his bile at someone who deserves it. The only surprise is that it came from an erstwhile LIberal and was directed at a LIberal cheerleader!

    It’s delicious IRONY !

  15. Not a good few days for female journalists, first BHO calles a reporterette SWEETIE, and now Garth invents names.
The question is, is GT still in the liberal caucus.
Will he be re-elected in Halton.

    TangoJuliette sez:

Methinks that THIS is truly the NEoCon “Hidden Agenda.” Give the Liberals our “ballast.” You know . . Buhlinda, “Beam-me-up” Scottie, Davidian Orchard and all the rest. That’ll sink the good ship Liebberanoid, all that sail in her, and all the martinettes and msm sycophants to boot.

Now. Just where in blazes did that great big dumpster of a white anachronsim of a dog named after some Japanese car, vanish to? Here, Toy OH! toe. Green tie anyone? Y’know. for the old poop’n’scoop.

And…speaking of poop. Here’s the Scoop. Am still waiting for the police-promised arrests of Lib pilferers on the Adscam file.

    ’tis to larff!

Maybe this will turn out to be a 2 for 1 deal. Giggles wakes up to Liberal Politicians and Garthagles joins the “greens” and exposes them to the realities of Liberal Politicians.

  18. Or maybe “Weaselette” is a term of endearment.

    Ah, ma petite weaselette…

“… first BHO calles a reporterette SWEETIE …”

    OK, I give up … who’s BHO?
See what being away from the computer does? I don’t know what’s going on!

Mind you, I do not find the media diva - GT, if we’re into initials only - at all interesting nor relevant.

And to be honest, I think JT deserves to be taken down a peg or two.

  20. Barrak Hussieen (sp) Obama-BHO.
You know, the democratic possible nominee for Pres. And, you better get used to the term, he who can’t be talked about.
Can’t mention his ears, middle name, race, wife, preacher, statements he will talk to terrorist leaders without preparation, and a few other things. Why can’t you mention the above topics, he said so.

Thanks, MaryT. I was trying to think of a Canadian with those initials.

  22. J Tabor was cuddling up to Suzuki on CTV QP almost as much as she does to Citoeyen Dion. Suzuki was trashing PHSH and J.Baird and she just loved every word. They should start calling it “Global Fooling” instead of “Global Cooling”. Or to put it another way…Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!! :(
