Oh, Mary T. That's so sad, yet delightful at the same time! Thanks for sharing. At least you have those early memories to sustain you.

Our priest also had all moms stand up for a special blessing.
Mother's Day is a time for memories. I always have a special prayer for children who have lost their mothers at a very young age, due to death. They will never have the chance to make that special craft for her, (no matter who takes their place, it is not the same), tell her you have met the love of your life at age 16, find a letter you wrote from camp, still tucked away in a drawer, and so many other things.
However they will remember the last time they saw their mother, a special event, and it never goes away.
I know, my mother died when I was six.
So yesterday I remembered the last school event my mother was at. A Christmas concert, where I was to sing a solo of Silent Night. Naturally I forgot the words and not wanting to disappoint, I come out with the best version of Roll our the Barrel you ever heard. Can still see my mother slinking down in her seat, with a That's not my kid look on her face. Hey, I got a standing ovation.
On a happier note, nobody ever made homemade strawberry icecream like her.

To my wonderful daughters,

Thank you for making my Mother's day such a special day, for loving me and making me feel fantastic. Even though you are all Mother's you gathered together and made me feel so honored to be "Mom" who gave you all birth. I look at you and my grandchildren and I think what a wonderful legacy I am leaving on this earth in quality people, and in them a belief that God created them and moves them forward to achieve his purposes in them and loves them even more than I could possibly do.
Thank you Joanne for your blog and for your insights in them and I thank God so much that you are my daughter who is so equipped with wonderful insights and kind words especially in today's world, when so many people are out to be unkind in the political landscape.
My hat is off to Sammy's remarks above who is heroically struggling with a lot of things and gives thanks for her Mother who gave her life. I can see that she is a woman of great courage and inner strength!
Thank you Joanne for your great blog! I love you more than mere words can say!
