What possible legal action could Martin bring against the Canadian federal government? Her complaint should be with the Mexican government and she didn’t stay there to fight that appeal battle.
The Canadian government (meaning us the taxpayers) paid her fine and flew her home for heavens sake. Guaranteed, if Martin and her supporters make any complaints against the gov’t, any good will this woman has ever had will disappear very quickly.
Call me suspicious. Who is behind this woman? How is it that she apparently has no money and no benefits, yet a certain lawyer spoke on her behalf last week? What is going on here?

Does the name Maher Arar ring a bell? Million dollar settlement for being detained in a foreign country? Hardly the same situation but stranger things have happened.

Unfortunately it looks like this Brenda Martin saga will continue because there seems to be a vested interest by certain members of the MSM to keep her story alive, although it lost its legs ages ago.
It is laughable that she will even think of suing the Federal government, especially since they were responsible for paying her fine, expediting her transfer to Canada and flying her her back to Canada aboard a government jet at considerable expense to Canadian taxpayers. She has been in Canada for more than a week and she has yet to even say a simple thank you to the Canadian government.
Just to recap, the predicament that Brenda Martin found herself in, while in Mexico was of her own doing. Nobody forced her to leave the safety of Canada to live illegally in Mexico. Nobody forced her to become involved with a con man and a fraud artist. Nobody forced her to accept large deposits of money that was not hers in her bank account and to transfer it into other bank accounts on behalf of her ex-employer.
She was not a baby or a teenager when she went to Mexico, she was a grown woman and she knew what she was doing.
It is amazing how the MSM absolves her of any responsibility in the decisions that she made and somehow try to pin this on Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The partisan manner in which they have covered this story in order to embarrass the Tories makes me was to barf.

Maybe I missed something here, B.Martin and one of the Khadr Klan Kids admitted to not claiming their income from outside of canada and yet nobody gives a s*it , but when I had a Tax issue and owed $1400.00 it was some weasel from the CRA that threatened me with legal action or jail if i didn’t send the money first and then argue over if I actually owed it.
WTF is going on here , Maher Arar was not deported to Syria according to Arar’s on Statement on his website where he Posts his original Lawsuit against JORDAN where Arab Kidnappers took him to be tortured AND THEN he claimed they drove him to his homeland of Syria because he was Wanted on Charges as a Draft-Dodger from State Military service.
Arar never gave evidence to prove any Toroture , he and CAIR’s lawyers threatened Taxpayers with a $400 milliom dollar lawsuit knowing it would force a Out Of Court Settlement to shut him up, CAIR has been ties to Hamas and Hezballah, Sheema Khan from CAIR mislead Justice O’Connor about “Islamophobia” and “Racism” against Muslims as if Muslims are a Race.
How does B.Martin get to admit to working Illegally in another nation and then get away with no declaring it as a Canadian until she caught and goes public to pour on the tears about how she is the Victim.
Only in Canada can Crooks and Terrorists Sue us taxpayers for unproven harm or allegations of neglect by canada to bail out their sorry A$$ from a jail that they got themselves in to.

Enought from this weeping criminal - this is one of the biggest con games going. No criminal is ever guilty of a crime as far as the MSM is concerned. This criminal will eventually bring discredit to Canada while trying to take out her anger at Mexico. She was convicted and sentenced properly but our gutless politicians have fallen for the games of this con artist.

Interestingly enough, most European countries make suspected or known foreign nationals show up in person now and again. My hubby, born Canadian but with a southern European background, lived with his grandparents in the old country from age 4 - 9. When Grandpa died he left a whack of prime agricultural land producing a critical export to hubby. The government knows he lives in Canada but because they have strict rules about foreign ownership of agricultural land, he must show up to the provincial offices once a year… show ID, pay some euros, and basically *nudge, nudge, wink, wink* pretend to be a national. But… he PAYS. And this is to simply own land, not get a whole bunch of social programs free.
Yeah, you know, it’s not such a bad idea to implement some sort of checks and balances. This idea of not asking any questions for fear of ‘offense’ is gone crazy!

Typical Canadian Liberal response. I did bad, the government didn’t jump quick enough to stop any responsibility on my part, now it’s their fault and they are going to have to pay. The MSM will follow along like dogs licking this spittle up from the ground because it’s bad news for PMSH and his government.
Meanwhile, for the 10 years she was out of the country thumbing her nose at the tax department, who was in charge? This is never discussed.
Maybe that’s the problem. Revenue Canada has contacted her and started an investigation into her back taxes owing. She starts to cry on cue and her own discretions are pushed under the rug. If anyone from the government says anything about her own culpability, they are cruel heartless thugs who have no compassion for the suffering of “real” Canadians.
Brenda; Shut up, pay your taxes and thank your lucky stars that you aren’t still in some Mexican jail eating refried beans for the next 5 years like you should be.

I agree with Gabby but I call it ‘BMB’; Brenda Martin Burnout. I agree with Sammy that Paula Todd avoided any new/controversial questions. All the questions put to BM were questions we already knew the answers to. I am curious about the Mahar Arar comment stating Arar was taken back to Syria due to charges of draft dodging state military service? Can we taxpayers get some of our money back?
