In opposition, the Conservatives made repeated promises to remove the GST tax-on-tax bite and pledged to remove the GST completely when gasoline prices exceeded 85 cents per litre. In the summer of 2005, Mr. Harper was quoted saying that gas taxes could be reduced by as much as 5 cents a litre.

Dear Jeff,
Dion said 10 times in recent history, since being elected as Lib leader, no carbon tax.
He fought against Iggy’s proposed carbon tax.
Now he will bus across Canada (skip Alberta please) to sell a carbon tax.
Dion also said ABSOLUTELY no troops in Afghanistan after Feb 2009.
Dion can not be trusted to keep his word.
PMSH reduced the GST 2 % since that .85 proposal. A far far greater reduction, excellent trade off.

The “tax shift” I want to see is the future majority Conservative government significantly reducing the tax burden on Canadians through a purging of the civil service of useless wasteful programs, spending and entitled Liberal hacks.
